I am connecting to internet via motorola modem which gives me approx 6 Mbps download speed when I test it with both speedtest.net and speakeasy.net. Any device that I use connected wirelessly to my Belkin N300 router only acheives about 1.3 MBps of download speed. Is this just the way it is or could I have a router configuration issue or something else?

I know that the HDD is functioning because it works when I connect it directly to my laptop USB. I also know the Belkin USB port is working because it recognizes a 4GB USB memory stick and a 320GB Toshiba USB HDD. Is there a fundamental compatability problem, or is there some configuration that must be performed (e.g., reformat from NTFS to FAT32, etc.)? I saw some message traffic on the Belkin support site that indicated some issues with earlier versions of Belkin routers using larger HDDs (e.g., 4 TB). But I'm having a problem when trying to connect to a friend on my 3DS when playing Pokemon Black Version 2. I've never had this problem before I got my N300 router. The 3DS connects to the internet without issue to download updates and shop the Nintendo store, but this in-game connection is not working.
#2: When I started using that same N300 router, suddenly my access to www.omegle.com was severely limited. It's a video chat site on which now I can no longer see the other users' video. Rarely a video will come through, by 90% of the time I just get black screens which I know I shouldn't be getting.
My SURF N300 router makes my internet signal very weak, 1/10 of what was contracted but it works perfectly with the cable connected directly to the computer, how can I configure it to work properly?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a 192.168.1.xxx network connected to Verizon FIOS via Actiontec MOCA / router. I also have a 192.168.15.xxx network connected to Comcast via Motorola VT2442 router (used for Vonage) and a Motorola SB6121 cable modem.
Each network has it's own gigabit switch connected to each router. The two networks are physically separated but switches and routers are physically side by side.
What is the best configuration to allow devices on 192.168.1.xxx network to communicate with devices on the 192.168.15.xxx network (share printers, NAS, etc), but still have each network served by it's respective ISP, and each device still get it's dhcp, dns, gateway, etc from each respective router?
Why I cannot find "Wireless Bridging" under "Wireless" of my belkin n300. Its model is F9k1002v1.

When I connect using same cable/etc. Router cannot get DNS/IP from ISP (Comcast). Cable modem works directly connected to my laptop. Switched back to SB5101 and works again flawlessly. FW on router is 2.01.07. Had comcast tech support as well as comcast tech onsite- no resolution. I did activate new modem thru ISP (even with them here doing it).

I can connect it to my Nexus tablet, to my desk-top and my lap-top, so I know there is nothing wrong with the router itself. Every time I try to connect the phone, it locates the network, scans, authenticates, but then says "Disabled" and the message: "Secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK" with "locked network" symbol. What does this mean? This is on the label that came with the router: "Security Type WPA/WPA2" but I don't know what to do in order to remove the lock. The phone is a Vodafone Smart Chat and I bought it specifically to be able to connect to Wi-Fi networks.
