Cisco WAN :: 2811 - External IP Not Pingable From Outside

Apr 20, 2013

We have a cisco 2811 router with 2 ADSL interfaces. One dialer interface is used for internet and another dialer interface is used for VPN.

The dialer interface that is used for internet purpose is "Dialer 1" and the VPN is "Dialer 2".

The route looks like this: ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 dialer 1

Basically, I am able to the ping the external IP address associated with the Dialer 1 interface, however, I cannot ping the external IP address associated with Dialer 2.

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5510 / VPN Behind Another External Interface

Dec 23, 2012

i have an ASA 5510 My ISP provides for me 2 separate public networks. One is routable from outside of the world and one is not (and is used as a gateway for the THAT routable network)

Assume that non routable network is a.a.a.a and routable is b.b.b.b so we have 2 interfaces on asa - a.a.a.1 and b.b.b.1 Physically this  network b.b.b.b is behind network a.a.a.a one cable comes to me and plugged to ASA As i said all traffic from/to external(routable) network is going through network a.a.a.a (and a default gateway at ISP) So the problem:For my international partners i need to provide  VPN.So the traffic flow is the following:for exaple a client with public ip 1.1.1.1 using cisco VPN client trying to connect to b.b.b.1 The packet arrives to interface a.a.a.1 and............. Being  discarded.7Dec 24 201211:09:477100051.1.1.162548b.b.b.110000TCP request discarded from 1.1.1.1/62548 to internet:b.b.b.1/10000 I assume that the ASA discards the packet BECAUSE IT COMES FROM a WRONG interface.Am i right? Also i tried to setup a bypas policy, but no effect?

Cisco WAN :: 2600 - External To Internal IP NAT?

Jun 10, 2013

I have a 2600 I am trying to setup for educational use.

My Cable ISP has issued me 5 routable IP's through their SMC modem 86.28.12.226-229.  The SMC modem is .225.  Currently the internal network can get out through .229 as expected but nothing outside (tcp 80 to web server) can get through.  When I assigned the ip's to e0/1 as secondarr I could get it to route from the inside network (so hitting .226 80 went to the correct place) but it still didn't work from the outside - plus I read that wasn't a great way to do it anyway.

Using External DNS Inside LAN?

Apr 19, 2012

I think the subject gives a good first impression of what I'd like to achieve.Anyway i'll give a little more context.I'm running a Windows Home Server in my LAN and I would like to use it's functionalities (especially the streaming) features from "anywhere" using the same URL.My is a Linksys WRT160Nv3 running on the DD-WRT v24-sp2 firmware.I've already setup the necessary port forwardings, as most of the WHS sites run on ports 80 (http) and/or 443 (https) and my isp is blocking all ports < 1024 (I know it suck, but nothing to do about)Anyway, outside my network (friends home, work, ...) I can access my home server browsing to ://xxx.homeserver.com:10080 or https://xxx.homeserver.com:10443What I want is that this (external) DNS also works when i'm inside my network (so when I'm at home).

Is this possible?I want this because on the home page of the WHS web interface, I have some links (for example to sabnzb, or the webpage of my raid controller, etc etc, but they all point to http://xxx.homeserver.com:These url's (with the external dns) are not working when i'm inside my lan.I'm not an export but i'm quite sure it's a DNS issue. Some more info:When i do an nslookup xxx.homeserver.com I see the (external) static IP that has been assigned to my router. When I do a ping to xxx.homeserver.com I also get a reply from the (external) static ip that has been assigned to my router.

No Response From External IP?

Aug 21, 2012

I use Comcast, and am trying to set up an FTP server that I can access from outside my home network. I need the external IP address for that to work, and I have gotten this IP address from IPChicken. I can ping it from the internal network just fine, but when I'm connected to a different network (I've tried two), I get no response, using both the IP address and the associated host name. Of course, I also cannot log into FTP.

I spoke with Comcast support, and their advice was to enable MAC filtering and add the external IP address to it..

Cisco VPN :: 5505 Authentication Using External MS AD Server

Dec 29, 2012

We have a business case where we have a group of ASA 5505's in 3 locations with anyconnect user licensing on all 3 for redundancy. The problem we are facing is that when we need to authenticate our anyconnect clients we use active directory servers located at site 1 and the other 2 sites need to contact these MS AD Servers over an already connected VPN tunnel to site 1 (IPSec l2l) but cannot. So the layout is as follows:Site 1 (houses AD servers) has l2l tunnels to site 2 and 3Site 2 (any connect essentials enabled) has l2l tunnel to site 1 and 3Site 3 (any connect essentials enabled) has l2l tunnel to site 2 and 3AD servers are ip'd as 10.1.1.11 and 10.1.1.4If I use anyconnect to site 1 it authenticates fine - as expected.Site 2 and site 3 fails to contact AD serverAny thoughts on how we can accomplish this(or is it even possible to do?) without exposing the AD server in a DMZ or via external ip?

Cisco VPN :: 5510 External IP Address Not Controlled

Aug 19, 2012

We have a strange issue for one of our customers that recently migrated to our internet service. They are trying to vpn to an external ip address not controlled by ourselves. The issue is only on one subnet and isolated to Mac’s, PCs in the same subnet also work fine. They were able to vpn from the MACs before they migrated to our INET solution. They previously used a checkpoint FW for their outside NAT and firewall and now are using a failover pair of asa 5510s. I have packet traced out the firewall and there should be nothing blocked. UDP ports 500 and 4500 are open to the destination ips from the correct subnets. All other subnets with Windows PCs can vpn out to external ip without issue. The users in that subnet with the MACs can also browse internet fine so the routing and nat overloading is also ok

When they try to initiate a connection from the macs i can see the connection/xlate coming in from a source port of  udp 4500/500 and also a destination of udp 4500/500 instead of a random source port. Just this evening we managed to get one device connected but no others. Would the fact that the source port is claiming 500 and 4500 stop the other macs using the same source ports at the same time to connect out? They are using the onboard mac vpn client, he can’t get the Cisco one working at the minute. [code]
