I am not sure whether this is the right category to which I should submit my question, but I couldn't find a section for "other software support" or anything like that.I am running Windows SBS 2003 at one of my clients and we are using Syncback as the backup software to backup important files and folders that gets written to the server on a daily basis. Now we are using two external drives for this purpose, alternating the two every second day, for improved security.However...I have set up the backup profiles exaclty with the same configurations and everything...everything is identical. But the backup to one of my drives does not want to perform giving the error : "the folder on the destination drive does not exist and can't be created"The folder does exist though, and what puzzles me is that running the backup manually or even copying files manually from the same server backup folders to the drive works perfectly, but when running the scheduled backup, it fails...and yes, the logon and authentication is set to "run as administrator" and the username and password is entered correctly.Like I said, the configs of the two drives are exactly the same, and the backup to the other drive works perfectly.I am using the Syncback free version, and support for the free version on the 2Brightsparks website is unavailable

1. connect the ext- HDD to PC running win 7 64 bit....create a folder called "win 7 64 bit" and then drag and drop filesand folders into that folder(or use windows backup..which i am unfamilar with)
2. then connect to PC running Vista 64 bit ..create a flder called "Vista 64 bit" and do as above....
3. Do the same for the laptop running win 7 32 bit

Two desktop computers with windows 7 home premium.Router: Netgear WNR2000v2 (which is NOT IPv6 compliant).External HD: 2TB Fantom.I have the external HD connected to one of the desktops via USB. I'd like to use it to back up the second computer to this HD.How do I get the second computer to recognize this as a backup target?Incidentally I've had problems getting HomeGroup setup since IPv6 is required for HomeGroup. I assume the problems are because the router isn't IPv6 compliant. I've tried the Microsoft Fixit 50410 (Use IPv4 instead of IPv6 in prefix policies. I've also reverted using Microsoft Fixit 50440 (Enable IPv6).
View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get a solution together for a dial backup to an ADSL service, using an Analogue modem. The kit list is as follows:
Cisco 877
Multitech MT5656ZDX External Analogue Modem or USR 5630D External Analogue Modem
Rolled patch cable RJ45 to DB25M adapter (pinout from a cisco guide)
So far I am unable to get the router/modem to dial out at all. I know the modems work, I have tested them from Windows.
I have attached a couple of outputs from "show line" and "show line 1" from the router and also what I think are the relevent lines of config although it will be too much config and probably jumbled by now as I've tried quite a few things to try and get this working.
I am more concerned with the config relating to the connection of the analogue modem than the routing element.
I've been reading that the Windows Server Backup that is included with Server 08 R2 is pretty good. Is spending $400 on a third party utility worth it?
I'm asking because we're purchasing a new server soon and I want to know if the included backup is going to be good enough. Will be backing up server state as well as data to tape and possibly an off site server (server 2003) if I get my way.
I currently admin a WAN link between two international sites. I have a 2800 at each end. The primary connection between the two sites is 20MB Ethernet PIP MPLS BGP circuit. I also have a pair of T1's in a PPP multilink that I switch over to in the event the primary circuit goes down. I currently am doing the switch over manually. It takes me about 15 minutes to complete it, but I know there must be a way to make this an automatic process.
So a couple questions:
1) Is there a way to create an "enhanced multilink" with the 2 T1's and the Ethernet circuit in the same bundle, in effect giving me 23MBps bandwidth while still being able to maintain connectivity if one of the 3 links goes down? This is my preferred solution
and if 1 is not possible then
2) Is there a way to configure the router so if the Ethernet circuit goes down, all traffic will be automatically directed over the T1's, and then come back to the Ethernet when it's back online?
I have one problem regarding a configuration (or setting up) of 3G SIM card for 887G router backup. That SIM card had a PIN code, so I disabled it, and now I can see that 3G light flashes Blue, so it detects 3G network. Also I can see that modem tries to dial up to connect to network, but with no luck. It has CHAP APN. Also in configuration I've found that there is PPP CHAP username and password, but I don't have any of those. I've tried to configure my SIM card with Username and Password, but it doesn't save. At the moment I have: Cellular 0 is down, line protocol is down. Dialer 2 is up (spoofing), line protocol is up (spoofing).
SIM card status is OK. Network detects O2 - IRL - yes.
It detects the network, but cannot connect to it. I'm not sure how to setup the SIM card or how to unlock it.
how to configure the 2nd WAN port to support 4G/LTE connectivity that will serve as the backup circuit to the primary MPLS circuit?

I'm looking for some documentation I can share with a customer to explain why I can't configure them a back-up sticky server farm when we're not terminating SSL on the the ACE (we pass SSL from the client through to the rservers, sticking the client to the rserver by source IP address). I've not been able to find anything that addresses this particular scenario in my googling so far. I remember discussing this in my training class with the instructor, but I can't find any reference to it. Have any of you run into this and have a link they can share?
View 7 Replies View Relatedhow to configure a backup route to the internet. My client has 2 ISP and basically they want to use 1 ISP and in case the ISP fails, use the other one as backup route to the internet.
The problem I’m facing is that each ISP is plugged to a dedicated ASA 5510, so 1 ISP in one firewall and 1 in the other. Both ASA are plugged to an internal network in a dedicated VLAN with a L3 switch and that L3 switch manages the internal network.
My question is, how can I tell my switch to use ASA1 to go out to the internet and in case the ASA 1 OR THE LINK TO INTERNET used by ASA 1 fails, use ASA 2? It would be great if I can send traffic to the internet thru both connections at the same time. Also, I know the ASA has High Availability configuration, but that applies only if both licenses in the devices are the same and I have a mismatch with the SVPN license, and also I don't know if with my current topology I can use the High Availability model, so I think I can’t use that option and the solution must be applied in the L3 switch, but I don’t know how to tell it to use ASA1 and if failure of the device or the outside interface plugged to ISP 1, then use ASA2. Besides, I would like to know how to optimize this config to do the switch between internet connections seamless to the users if possible (there are VoIP calls on this floor, so I don't want to drop the calls).
if i enable Controller Configuration Backup is that included in the server backup? and can the controller configs be specifically extracted from the server backup?

I thought I saw a post/question in regards to "how to" configure a Broadband backup for a MPLS circuit.. What I am trying to do is use a cable/dsl/ broadband (secondary) connection as a backup to a MPLS circuit (primary). I have EIGRP and BGP configured on both the branch endpoint and the tunnel headend. The tunnel is used by the interface that connects to the secondary circuit. The branch location router is a 1841 and the "headend" tunnel router is a 3825. I am wondering about the configuration/syntax of a "weight" or static route that can be used to have data flow over the tunnel when the MPLS circuit goes down - and then switch back to the MPLS circuit when it comes back on line.

View 1 Replies View Relatedow to backup Cisco ASA-5510 from a Linux server via TFTP?I do know how to backup a switch or a router. Basically creating an access list such as:
access-list 55 remark PERMIT hosts requesting TFTP access
access-list 55 permit host 172.16.0.27
and allowing access to
tftp-server nvram:startup-config 55
all this inside the router or the switch. From the Linux box just running a simple command such as:
tftp 172.16.0.3 -c get startup-config newbackup.conf
where 172.16.0.3 is the IP address of the switch and newbackup.conf is the name of the config file stored on the Linux machine. So, how do I do that with an ASA box? how to backup ASA from inside it.

From what I have read, the backup server only kicks in when the AnyConnect client cannot connect, but in this scenario it will connect but get an error message.

I have a Cisco 831 router (c831-k9o3y6-mz.124-5c.bin) that cannot backup the config to a local tftp server. I have seen this behavior on a few different Cisco devices over the years and have never found a solution. The connection is made to the tftp server (in this case tftpd but similar behavior on any tftp server) and a blank file is created on the target machine file system, but the data is never transferred.
The router shows %Error opening tftp://192.168.0.2/router-confg (Timed out) [Failed]
The tftpd log shows 5 repeated attempts at the file write.

This is also stopping me upgrading the image on the router as I cannot transfer in the other direction either.
1. How I can manage those devices, the Switch and the router? What is the BEST SOLUTION to manage this devices?
2. I want to monitor the traffic on this environment, how I can do it? How I can monitor the traffic from customer A, Customer B, and my own LAN traffic, in terms of bandwidth that has passed throught my devices? Is it possible to monitor on MY LAN, or I have to monitor from the EXTERNAL switch?
3. How I can limit the bandwidth? I was trying to configure it using access list, with policy-map, etc....and limit this on each interface. [code]
The interface does not support the specified policy configuration and/or parameter values.Assigning a policy map to the output side of an interface not supported. With I few reading, I could see that the SWITCH 3750 doesnt support this configs. My INTERNET LINK is 30 Mbps, the ports on the Switch (WS-C3750X-48P-L) are Gigabit Ethernet. How I can limit the bandwidth here? For example, How I can limit a interface to 3Mbps..I was thinking about this:
- Limit the interface to 10Mbps: speed 10
- and limit the interface with 30% of this speed: srr-queue bandwidth limit 30
Does this work for both UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD?When the packets passes that 3Mbps limitation, will they be droped?

What this would entail would be that each person in my house has a dedicated hard drive that auto-syncs folders they've selected for backing up (not Memeo under any circumstances!). Then there will be a hard drive for me to work on web projects on. I'd like this computer to be very secure but if needed, I could show my work on the production drive to my boss.
