Cisco Firewall :: Asa 5520 / Configure Two Static Nat Statements From Inside To Outside And Backup Interface?
Oct 16, 2011
I have a asa 5520 with an outside and backup interface. I am trying to configure two static nat statements from the inside to the outside and backup interface. Here is what I have configured so far.
I have inherited an ASA 5520. In doing some auditing of the setup, I have noticed a Static Route that has the inside interface of the ASA as the Gateway IP. I am trying to understand the purpose of this route or why a route would be setup this way.
Example Static Route: Inside 10.xx.31.0 255.255.255.0 10.xx.xx.10 (10.xx.xx.10 is the inside interface of ASA)
We already have a subnet defined to inside interface and is in produciton. the default gateway is this interface ip. In that setup now I have to add one more subnet and as the first subnet is been defined in ASA indside interface, I have to assign secondary Ip to the inside interface so that new subnet users can easily reach here and go outside.
customer has a server which located in inside interace. and an outside interface connected to ISPA. cu config a static nat map inside server address to ISPA address, one day customer install a new outside interface to ISPB, cu config new static nat ,map same server inside server address to ISPB address. the server will allways be vistited from outside interface and reply, custome want traffic coming from ISPA will return to ISPA, traffic coming from ISPB will return to ISPB. but i found it is difficult implement this on ASA5580. i want use route-map on static nat, but it will not satisfy customer's request.

I'm trying to attach tacacs server (ACS Version 5.2) in server group on ASA 5520 (Version 8.4). When I test connection in ASDM (Version 6.4) between ASA and ACS it fails. The log message on ASA is:
%ASA-2-106016: Deny IP spoof from (10.8.27.126) to 10.8.48.10 on interface inside.
I recently upgraded my 5520 to 9.0.1 IOS. Today I tried to apply a capture to my inside interface referencing a simple ACL and I get this error.
ERROR: Capture doesn't support access-list <capin> containing mixed policies
I also created a capture for the outside interface with a similar ACL and it worked just fine. I can't seem to find anything on the web that gives me a clue to resolving the error above.
I have a Cisco 5512 x Firewall connected with Cisco Layer 3 switch 3750.I have two different WAN connections, one for Data and one for voice. Cisco Layer 3 switch is configured with 2 different VLAN's one for data & other is Voice Vlan. Switch is providing DHCP to computers and IP phones. Voice Pool 192.168.10.0/24 Vlan10 and Data pool 192.168.20.0/24 Vlan20.I need to route my data & voice traffic separately. Cisco ASA is connected with two different ISP's. So, how can I do this configuration so that Voice and Data traffic will route separately.
We've just started with the ASA 5505. We do run a DHCP server on the inside interface, so it is in the same VLAN 1 as all of the clients. However, we cannot get it to work.We can't use DHCP Relay, as the ASA 5505 only allows to relay to DHCP servers in a different subnet.Or do we have to move the DHCP server to a different subnet. If so, how would we configure that scenario?
Is there a cisco best practice on the maximum number of NAT statements on a Cisco ASA? We have a 5520 and a coworker is adding static NAT policies so a vendor can monitor around 1,029 nodes. The problem is each node inside is a 10.X.X.X and to keep the IPs from overlapping with other customers the vendor monitors they would like us to NAT to a 172.16.X.X scheme.
We have a 5510 and I have a second ISP setup for a backup link. We have 4 ports connected to 4 different internal subnets. I want to force one of the ports to use the backup ISP link at all times. I'm having a little problem with where I need to make the changes in my ASA.
Interface "outside" is my main ISP Interface "building3" is my backup ISP.
I want to force the "Guest" network to use the "building3" link for all traffic. Here's a snippet of my config
We currently have a setup where users connect to the inside of a firewall using the ipsec client. We are moving them to the anyconnect client but are unable to get it to work, we cannot even get a webvpn page on the inside.
When trying to connect with anyconnect the ASA reports an IKE initiator fail on the inside. and no tcp connection flag. We cannot get any response with Webvpn either I have tried using a different tcp port on webvpn but then the asa denies the traffic even though there are no rules denying.
I need to configure my ASA 5520 version 7.3 firewall to translate our SMTP server residing in local LAN to use different IP address from the outside interface which is used by all other computers to access Internet.
Under NAT section, i have NATted this internal SMTP server with different IP address(eg x.x.x.1) and also translated the remaining IP addresses in the LAN to the outside interface(eg x.x.x.2)
my problem is, Whenever i check the header for message coming from the smtp server it shows that, the SMTP server is also translated by using the same outside interface public ip address(i.e x.x.x.2) which is used by other client machine to access internet instead of the x.x.x.1.
how i can get my SMTP server to use separate IP and avoid to be blacklisted by some domain.
I have two 3750 switch.switch A(main) and switch B is connected by OFC but i have another wireless link for backup. Now if OFC goes down then i manually connect wireless link with switch B for this reasons i am faceing a lot of problem. I want without any changing of cable if my primary link goes down then my backup link automaticaly goes up and vice versa .
Switch-A port gi1/0/9 and Switch-B port gi1/0/9 is connect by OFC Switch-A port gi1/0/8 and Switch-B port gi1/0/8 is connect by Wireless link (backup) i attach my network diagram kindly find the attachment file.
My question is can my traffic goes from inside interface to outside interface? (because the inside interface address not from 10.0/172./192.168 private address)Also I'm allowing internet from this email server (132.147.162.14) so what my access list to be configured? and what my subnet mask shoud be there?
Pix(config)#access-list outbound permit tcp 132.147.162.14 255.255.0.0 any eq 80 Pix(config)#access-list outbound permit udp 132.147.162.14 255.255.0.0 any eq 53 Pix(config)#access-group outbound in interface inside
How to configure traffic flow between computers inside VLANs and a routed port? Here is the setup details:
1. Switch 3750-X 2. VLAN 100 - ( SVI IP address 192.168.100.1 /24) 3. VLAN 200 - ( SVI IP address 192.168.200.1 /24) 4. routed port gi1/0/48 (IP address 192.168.150.1 /24). Note: this port is directly connected to a firewall ASA 5520 port IP 192.168.150.100 /24
Ip routing is enabled on the switch and inter vlan traffic is flowing ok. I can ping the routed port gi1/0/48 from any computer connected in the VLAN 100 or 200. For example computer with IP 192.168.100.25 can ping the routed port 192.168.150.1. Switch can ping firewall port 192.168.150.100 and the 'sh ip route' command shows the network 192.168.150.0 /24 as directly connected network.
any computer in the two VLANs CANNOT ping firewall ASA port 192.168.150.100 Is it because inter VLAN routing does not work with a routed port on L3 switch? I looked up fallback bridging, but it is meant for non IP traffic. The goal is I am trying to set the ASA port as an internet gateway for VLANs.
Recently upgraded to an Asa 5512x from a pix 515e. I have an Ipswitch secure MoveIT server on the dmz1 interface that needs to be accessed from both the inside and outside interfaces. I have setup a static nat from the outside to the dmz1 and it works, I can also connect from the inside interface. Now I need the MoveIT server to access the DNS server and email server on the inside interface so it can send notifications. On the pix I just created a static from the inside to the dmz1 using its own IP address - static (inside,dmz1) 192.168.1.7 192.168.1.7 net mask 255.255.255.255. I would then add the access-list to allow. How would I set this up with the Asa 8.6 commands?
Looking to have an ASA5510 with two internet feeds. Moreover, I would like to have my static nat translations continue to work on the backup feed. I have outbound nat working, however I cannot get the inbound nat to work. I had this all figured out in 7.x but now with 8.x I cannot seem to get it working. If anyone has a 8.x example config.
I have a Cisco ASA 5505 in our office. We are currently using Interface 0 for outside and 1 for inside. We only have 1 Vlan in our environment. We have two three switches behind the firewall. Today the uplink to Interface 1, to the firewall, on the switch went bad. I want to setup a second inside interface on the firewall and configure it as failover incase this happens again. I want to attach it to the other switch. Can I do this? If so, what do I need to do? would it only be a passive/standby interface?
I've recently upgraded my old firewall from a PIX to an ASA5505 and have been trying to match up the configuration settings to no avail. I have is that I can't ping the new firewall on it's inside interface, despite having "icmp permit any inside" in the running config. Secondly, the server I have on there ("Sar") can't connect out to the internet.I've included the ASA's running config incase anybody can see if something stands out. I have a feeling it's either not letting anything onto the inside interface, or there is no nat going on. Lastly (and possibly relevant), the firewall is actually going at the end of a vlan, which is different to the firewall's inside vlan number. I don't know if this is actually the problem because the server can't connect out even if connected directly into the firewall.
I have an ASA 5520 Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 8.4(2)8 Device Manager Version 6.4(5)206. I am trying to add a nat for outside x.x.x.77 port going inside x.x.x.22 port 80 . the wan interface is .74 with subnet of 255.255.255.248 the rule will add but traffic wont pass in.
I am setting up a pair of 5520 in A/S mode but the traffic from inside to outside seems blocked somehow.
asa01# sh run : Saved ASA Version 8.3(1) host name asa01 enable password LFJ8dTG1HExu/pWQ encrypted password 2KFQnbNIdI.2KYOU encrypted names [code]......
Base on the above configuration, I still cannot ping or HTTP.
On our cisco 3750 switches we can take config backups with the archive command. After every "write mem" it rights the config to our backup server. We would like to do this also for our asa 5520 with version 8.2(2). I also searched in the command reference guide, but I can't seem to find the proper command to do it.
I have setup ASA 5505 with 2 ISP, named outside (primary) and backup, the scenario is if outside down, then backup will take over, it works now. But it is not working when the primary connection cannot reach the gateway with the interface still up.
Is it possible when the primary connection cannot reach the gateway then backup automatically take over?
I am trying to configure a server(192.168.5.50) in DMZ(192.168.5.0/24) to be able to communicate with a domain controller(10.5.44.220) in the inside network(10.5.44.0/24). I made some configuration using ASDM(not familiar with the CLI) but not working and it caused existing NAT not to work, for example RDP(TCP 3389) connection to 38.96.179.220
The things I am trying to achieve are
1. two way commucation between 192.168.5.50 in DMZ and 10.5.44.220 in Inside for SecureAuthPorts and SecureAuthOutbound service groups
2. NAT for 192.168.5.50 mapping 38.96.179.50 for the service groups mentioned above
I am trying to make a basic config on my 5520. The first goal is to make trafic from inside to outside. The internet address is 64.28.29.200 and the default internet gw is 64.28.20.193What am I missing since I can not get trafic from inside to the internet? [code]
I have ASA 5520. I cannot ping the host(192.168.1.20) which is inside firewall from outside hosts. Inside host (192.168.1.20) is translated into (198.24.210.226) using static NAT.From outside host, I used "PING 198.24.210.226". Is it because I used dynamic PAT for inside hosts?
I am new in ASA, I have the DMZ (10.1.1.0/24) configured on ASA 5520 and I achieve the reach Internet from DMZ (10.1.1.0/24), but now need reach DMZ from inside (172.16.12.0/24) and inside (172.16.12.0/24) from DMZ (10.1.1.0/24), in other words round trip.
