Cisco WAN :: 3750 - How To Configure Backup Link Into Switch Interface
Jan 18, 2011
I have two 3750 switch.switch A(main) and switch B is connected by OFC but i have another wireless link for backup. Now if OFC goes down then i manually connect wireless link with switch B for this reasons i am faceing a lot of problem. I want without any changing of cable if my primary link goes down then my backup link automaticaly goes up and vice versa .
Switch-A port gi1/0/9 and Switch-B port gi1/0/9 is connect by OFC Switch-A port gi1/0/8 and Switch-B port gi1/0/8 is connect by Wireless link (backup) i attach my network diagram kindly find the attachment file.
I'm trying to configure scp for secure configuration backup. I've configured the SCP server with an account and password but, I keep getting the no such file or directory error

I have a asa 5520 with an outside and backup interface. I am trying to configure two static nat statements from the inside to the outside and backup interface. Here is what I have configured so far.
i have an issue to connect a trunk between cisco switch and extreme switch i have many vlans that i want to cross via a link between cisco 3750 switch and a Extreme Alpine 3800 switch
We have 6 sites which are connected through E1 links. All sites connected from HQs.
Site A is HQs. Sited B, C, D, E, and F are Branches. Site A is directly connected with site B, C, D and E. Site D is connected with Site F.
Now we have another redundant E1 link for site C and Site F.we are using Static Routes.i have configured Qualified-next-hope on Juniper Router but i am unable to configure IP SLA on Site C Cisco 2951 with IOS 15.0 router.is there another solution for my scenario plz share with me for Redundant Link.
I've got a 881 working with a 3G Card. Even the Cisco 7965 phone is working well off it. Looking for good doc for configuring the 3G interface as a backup link to Comcast?
i will going to buy a router 2911 but i want know if support a interface ADSL modulo like backup in case that my primary link WAN Ethernet down and up the adsl link with a module HWIC ADSL pots.
how to configure this. I did it in the past but kind of forgot how I did it.I have a stacked 3750 (two physical switches) connecting to a 2960.
I am creating trunk ports with limited access to VLAN 300, 600, and 700.
There is two interfaces connected from the 3750's(one on each physical stack member) to the 2960.I have the physical interfaces configured exactly the same.
Should I keep the configuration on the physical ports and not configure the Port-Channel Interfaces? Do I need to configure port-channel load balancing? Is the channel-group mode sufficient? Goal is to basically create 2 links to the 2960 to double the bandwidth and provide redundancy.
Is there a way to change interface numbers on a 3750 stack but, still retain the config of the physical port?
For instance:
I would like to take the top switch, which has the ports numbered g2/0/1 - 52 and change them to be g1/0/1 - 52. And the bottom switch, which has ports numbered g1/0/1 - 52 and change them to be g2/0/1 - 52. Basically, just swap the interface numbers but, not effect any interface configurations.
Is it possible to establish a interface dialer on a layar 3 switch?Or is it only interface for routers?I have a c3750 switch (WS-C3750G-24T), and when i try to establish a dialer interface i get an error message:
configure qos in Cisco 3750 switch.I have configured below template and applied on the vlan interface. But i am getting the hit on the access list but I am not able to get hit on the class map.
One of my Catalyst 3750 switch have many out drops, I execute "sh mls qos int g2/0/3 statist" command, there are many output drops in queue3 threshold3. [code]
On a router I can use IP Accounting or Netflow to see what kind of traffic is moving over an interface. Are there any tools on a 3750 switch with a routed interface which would tell you who is hogging the bandwidth on that interface?
1. How I can manage those devices, the Switch and the router? What is the BEST SOLUTION to manage this devices?
2. I want to monitor the traffic on this environment, how I can do it? How I can monitor the traffic from customer A, Customer B, and my own LAN traffic, in terms of bandwidth that has passed throught my devices? Is it possible to monitor on MY LAN, or I have to monitor from the EXTERNAL switch?
3. How I can limit the bandwidth? I was trying to configure it using access list, with policy-map, etc....and limit this on each interface. [code]
The interface does not support the specified policy configuration and/or parameter values.Assigning a policy map to the output side of an interface not supported. With I few reading, I could see that the SWITCH 3750 doesnt support this configs. My INTERNET LINK is 30 Mbps, the ports on the Switch (WS-C3750X-48P-L) are Gigabit Ethernet. How I can limit the bandwidth here? For example, How I can limit a interface to 3Mbps..I was thinking about this:
- Limit the interface to 10Mbps: speed 10
- and limit the interface with 30% of this speed: srr-queue bandwidth limit 30
Does this work for both UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD?When the packets passes that 3Mbps limitation, will they be droped?
We have Dell M6220 blade server that server is connected to cisco 3750 switch. I am trying to configure LACP in 3750 for two port which are connected to Dell M6220 server switch. The channel-group 2 mode active commande is not taking then its showing the error protocol mismatch and if i run show int port-channel 2 command the port channel status is showing down. The Dell server switch is on simple mode. below i have attached the required details.
Switch#show int port-channel 2 Port-channel2 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect) Hardware is EtherChannel, address is 0000.0000.0000 (bia 0000.0000.0000) MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec, reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255 Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set

Received today my modem, configured it with some effort but it works... Now i'm trying to save ma config file (rom-0) using web interface, and when clicking on Maintenance > Firmware, i'm always getting:bug.jpg Seems to be a big bug
I have one 12-port 3750 switch having one gig connectivity with ASR-9010 router having IOS-XR. I am not able to ping this link with 9000 mtu size. I have enable system mtu jumbo on switch to 9000 and on ASR router interface mtu is set to 9114. At switch side switch interface is configured as a trunk port and one vlan has been passed on that interface. I am not able to ping the ip 172.16.10.2 with 9000 mtu size.
I have 2 pair of 11501 switches and 1 pair of 11503 switches on 3 sites(LA, China, Taiwan). Each site has a pair of 1105x switch running as redundancy between them and is a standalone which will not interact with others.Recently a series of interfaces(ports) down happened to every active 1150x switches without any reason and log.Especially today, it happened to active switches at 5:39 AM meanwhile on 3 sites.
I have an ASA 5510 running 8.4 with dual ISPs setup on 2 different interfaces: outside(primary),backup(backup). I also have a site to site VPN to another ASA in another city. The VPN is now setup on the outside interface and works fine. What I wanted to do is to make the VPN run over the backup interface only.
So, I modified the the crypto map on the remote side to use the backup interface IP and created a tunnel-group for it. I then created a crypto map for the backup interface and enabled ikev1 on it. The default route is set to use the outside interface so I created a static route that routes traffic bound for the outside interface on the remote side to the backup interface default gateway. I can get the tunnels to establish but no traffic is passing through them. I though then that I need a NAT for the tunnel traffic to I created a NAT as well but still no traffic passed. I tried the packet-tracer and it said the traffic was allowed and from the show crypto ipsec sa command I can see the tunnel setup but no traffic will go across it.
I have setup ASA 5505 with 2 ISP, named outside (primary) and backup, the scenario is if outside down, then backup will take over, it works now. But it is not working when the primary connection cannot reach the gateway with the interface still up.
Is it possible when the primary connection cannot reach the gateway then backup automatically take over?
We have a 5510 and I have a second ISP setup for a backup link. We have 4 ports connected to 4 different internal subnets. I want to force one of the ports to use the backup ISP link at all times. I'm having a little problem with where I need to make the changes in my ASA.
Interface "outside" is my main ISP Interface "building3" is my backup ISP.
I want to force the "Guest" network to use the "building3" link for all traffic. Here's a snippet of my config
I have a problem in configuring two pair of backup interface on my customer's router (3845). It's ok when I configure just one of them. If I configure both pairs of interfaces into backup interface, one of them will be in disabled mode, as shown below :

I currently admin a WAN link between two international sites. I have a 2800 at each end. The primary connection between the two sites is 20MB Ethernet PIP MPLS BGP circuit. I also have a pair of T1's in a PPP multilink that I switch over to in the event the primary circuit goes down. I currently am doing the switch over manually. It takes me about 15 minutes to complete it, but I know there must be a way to make this an automatic process.
So a couple questions:
1) Is there a way to create an "enhanced multilink" with the 2 T1's and the Ethernet circuit in the same bundle, in effect giving me 23MBps bandwidth while still being able to maintain connectivity if one of the 3 links goes down? This is my preferred solution
and if 1 is not possible then
2) Is there a way to configure the router so if the Ethernet circuit goes down, all traffic will be automatically directed over the T1's, and then come back to the Ethernet when it's back online?
Since WLC5508 MGMT interface is configured a AP-Mgr at the same time, can I set a Backup Port to WLC5508 MGMT interface? Refer to WLC configuration Guide:
In the Backup Port text box, enter the number of the backup port assigned to the management interface. If the primary port for the management interface fails, the interface automatically moves to the backup port.
Note Do not define a backup port for an AP-manager interface. Port redundancy is not supported for AP-manager interfaces. If the AP-manager interface fails, all of the access points connected to the controller through that interface are evenly distributed among the other configured AP-manager interfaces
if I need to configure the backup port for MGMT interface, i need to remove the AP-manager on MGMT interface and create a network dynamic interface for AP-Manager ?
I have one problem regarding a configuration (or setting up) of 3G SIM card for 887G router backup. That SIM card had a PIN code, so I disabled it, and now I can see that 3G light flashes Blue, so it detects 3G network. Also I can see that modem tries to dial up to connect to network, but with no luck. It has CHAP APN. Also in configuration I've found that there is PPP CHAP username and password, but I don't have any of those. I've tried to configure my SIM card with Username and Password, but it doesn't save. At the moment I have: Cellular 0 is down, line protocol is down. Dialer 2 is up (spoofing), line protocol is up (spoofing).
SIM card status is OK. Network detects O2 - IRL - yes.
It detects the network, but cannot connect to it. I'm not sure how to setup the SIM card or how to unlock it.
we have a AP cisco AIR-AP1131G-E-K9 Version 12.4(10b)JA, and we would like to do automatic backup of CLI configuration to one server, and we dont know how to do.
For example: On router and switch we use this kind of configuration to do automatic backup: [code]
I'm looking for some documentation I can share with a customer to explain why I can't configure them a back-up sticky server farm when we're not terminating SSL on the the ACE (we pass SSL from the client through to the rservers, sticking the client to the rserver by source IP address). I've not been able to find anything that addresses this particular scenario in my googling so far. I remember discussing this in my training class with the instructor, but I can't find any reference to it. Have any of you run into this and have a link they can share?
Here's my problem. I'm going to be using Cisco 1941 routers at a bunch of remote sites. All of these sites have 2 comm paths out. Some of them have 2 IP/VHF radios and some have 1 IP/VHF radio and a copper link using Patton ethernet extenders. From the VHF radios the data hit our MPLS network back to our HQ and the sites with copper go directly back to our HQ. Everything ends up at a Cisco 4948 switch. The problem I'm having is that I want the routers at the remote site to use one ethernet port (G0/0) as the primary and the other (G0/1) as the backup interface. I've tried the backup interface command but the problem is that depending on where an outage occurs the ethernet link to either the radio or Patton stays up so it never switches over. We're using OSPF as our routing protocol and I'm sure there's something that can be done with it but I'm not sure what.
