Jan 18, 2011I have two 3750 switch.switch A(main) and switch B is connected by OFC but i have another wireless link for backup.Now if OFC goes down then i manually connect wireless link with switch B for this reasons i am faceing a lot of problem. I want without any changing of cable if my primary link goes down then my backup link automaticaly goes up and vice versa .
Switch-A port gi1/0/9 and Switch-B port gi1/0/9 is connect by OFC Switch-A port gi1/0/8 and Switch-B port gi1/0/8 is connect by Wireless link (backup) i attach my network diagram kindly find the attachment file.
Cisco :: Backup Support Access To A Router?
Mar 8, 2012I was just thinking about this the other day, iirc I read somewhere about hooking up a dial up modem to the aux port on a router so that if your service failed you could dial the router directly to get access and diagnose faults.
Does anyone still do this? or do you use other methods? Cause it seems a bit old hat to me and I figured if you are paying a line rental on a phone line why not get dsl as well?

Dec 9, 2012I have an ASA 5510 running 8.4 with dual ISPs setup on 2 different interfaces: outside(primary),backup(backup). I also have a site to site VPN to another ASA in another city. The VPN is now setup on the outside interface and works fine. What I wanted to do is to make the VPN run over the backup interface only.
So, I modified the the crypto map on the remote side to use the backup interface IP and created a tunnel-group for it. I then created a crypto map for the backup interface and enabled ikev1 on it. The default route is set to use the outside interface so I created a static route that routes traffic bound for the outside interface on the remote side to the backup interface default gateway. I can get the tunnels to establish but no traffic is passing through them. I though then that I need a NAT for the tunnel traffic to I created a NAT as well but still no traffic passed. I tried the packet-tracer and it said the traffic was allowed and from the show crypto ipsec sa command I can see the tunnel setup but no traffic will go across it.

Nov 21, 2011I have setup ASA 5505 with 2 ISP, named outside (primary) and backup, the scenario is if outside down, then backup will take over, it works now. But it is not working when the primary connection cannot reach the gateway with the interface still up.
Is it possible when the primary connection cannot reach the gateway then backup automatically take over?

Nov 12, 2012We have a 5510 and I have a second ISP setup for a backup link. We have 4 ports connected to 4 different internal subnets. I want to force one of the ports to use the backup ISP link at all times. I'm having a little problem with where I need to make the changes in my ASA.
Interface "outside" is my main ISP
Interface "building3" is my backup ISP.
I want to force the "Guest" network to use the "building3" link for all traffic. Here's a snippet of my config

Sep 8, 2012Since WLC5508 MGMT interface is configured a AP-Mgr at the same time, can I set a Backup Port to WLC5508 MGMT interface? Refer to WLC configuration Guide:
In the Backup Port text box, enter the number of the backup port assigned to the management interface. If the primary port for the management interface fails, the interface automatically moves to the backup port.
Note Do not define a backup port for an AP-manager interface. Port redundancy is not supported for AP-manager interfaces. If the AP-manager interface fails, all of the access points connected to the controller through that interface are evenly distributed among the other configured AP-manager interfaces
if I need to configure the backup port for MGMT interface, i need to remove the AP-manager on MGMT interface and create a network dynamic interface for AP-Manager ?

Jan 20, 2013Here's my problem. I'm going to be using Cisco 1941 routers at a bunch of remote sites. All of these sites have 2 comm paths out. Some of them have 2 IP/VHF radios and some have 1 IP/VHF radio and a copper link using Patton ethernet extenders. From the VHF radios the data hit our MPLS network back to our HQ and the sites with copper go directly back to our HQ. Everything ends up at a Cisco 4948 switch. The problem I'm having is that I want the routers at the remote site to use one ethernet port (G0/0) as the primary and the other (G0/1) as the backup interface. I've tried the backup interface command but the problem is that depending on where an outage occurs the ethernet link to either the radio or Patton stays up so it never switches over. We're using OSPF as our routing protocol and I'm sure there's something that can be done with it but I'm not sure what.

Jun 16, 2012I am having some issues adding updated definitions for Cisco C3750X-48PS switches.
We have ciscoworks LMS 3.2 and I need to update the definition/device support for these switches. We are conducting a network refresh and are having some issues with ciscoworks polling these devices correctly.
I have looked through the various user guides and searched on google with not much luck as to how to actually do this, the links I have found breifly go into it, but not indepth, and the cisco links I have found, of course have redirects to new pages which bear to resemblance to what is in the original document. Is there a clear guide out there on how to update the switch definiton in ciscoworks? So I can i can try and do this correctly?

Nov 24, 2012I've had a read through the docs for the 3750 series switches, but nothing that definately says that jumbo frame routing will work on a SVI.One part specifically I'd like clarification on is:The default maximum transmission unit (MTU) size for frames received and sent on all interfaces on the switch or switch stack is 1500 bytes. You can change the MTU size to support switched jumbo frames on all Gigabit Ethernet and 10-Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and to support routed frames on all routed ports. It says supported routed frames on all routed ports, but this in the past has meant physical ports, and not Virtual ones.

Feb 17, 2013I believe the answer is yes, but incorperating more layer 3 features of our 3750's, I want to know if they fully support EIGRP or OSPF?
Also for a small business of 4 locations, each with a 10mbps fiber and a 1.5mbps mpls... wouldn't you say EIGRP would be easier? Want to look at making the failover automatic if the 10mbps fiber goes down between a site, then the network fails over to 1.5mbps mpls. When the fiber returns in service then the network automatically preferr the fiber again.
Currently we use static routes and if there is a provider outage we have to manually edit the config to flip flop the routes.

Concern 1: if the 3com switch with 802.1X feature, but still without the full feature to support FlexAuth, policy encforcement, DACL etc. In this kind of situation, will user still able to authenticate (using method PEAP-MSCHAP v2), but authorization just grant with permit any any?
Concern 2: Can i assume i authenticated the 3com switch using MAB? But this will cause endpoint with no 802.1X, am i right?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Phone Connects To 3750-A / Nexus 5596 Does Not Support RSPAN
Feb 20, 2013the phone connects to the 3750-A access layer switch (VTP mode client) which connects to the nexus 5596 (The nexus is the layer 3 device and set to vtp mode server) and finally we have a Voice recorder that connects to another access layer 3750-B switch.(VTP mode client)
For voice recording I need to setup RSPAN and the nexus5596 does not support RSPAN will the following have any impact on the nexus
IF I move the 3750-B to VTP server mode and run the command remote span on the VLan I need to Rspan its going to update the VTP data base in short it will update the vlan.dat file for all the switch in that VTP domain.
AS the vtp update reaches the nexus saying there is a change (keeping in mind the nexus does not support rspan not sure hows its going to handle that request and how its going to update its vlan.dat file)
Is it going to incremment the VTP revision number? can it crash the vlan.dat file on the nexus ? or do nothing and ignore the update and stop the update from proceeding to the 3750 A switch?
