I am trying to use the built in feature of Cisco ASA 5510 smart call home feature with the purpose of automatic backup creation by email. I found the configuration [URL]. I have a WRT100 wireless router, which is configured for a PPPOE connection to my ISP. After running one of the tools to determine responsiveness of DNS name services, I would like to manually configure my DNS services, placing a more responsive service as my first DNS choice. In the router administration, I can configure three static DNS IP's. However, I don't see any place in the configuration to turn off the automatic DNS configuration from my ISP. So, when I issue an IPCONFIG /ALL on my computer, the DNS listing shows two DNS Name Services from my ISP ahead of the three static DNS IP's that I configured.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an AP1131ag access point which i am trying to run 2 SSIDs off. The first is untrusted and uses VLAN 325 and goes through a seperate internet connection it gets its IP addresses from an ISP router with DHCP enabled. (IP helper on vlan interface to isp router)
The second is a trusted network which i want to connect to our company network. It uses VLAN 324 and i want it to get its IP address from the onsite DHCP server. The untrusted Guest network works perfectly well but with the trusted one although i can see the network it doesnt get an IP address.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently admin a WAN link between two international sites. I have a 2800 at each end. The primary connection between the two sites is 20MB Ethernet PIP MPLS BGP circuit. I also have a pair of T1's in a PPP multilink that I switch over to in the event the primary circuit goes down. I currently am doing the switch over manually. It takes me about 15 minutes to complete it, but I know there must be a way to make this an automatic process.
So a couple questions:
1) Is there a way to create an "enhanced multilink" with the 2 T1's and the Ethernet circuit in the same bundle, in effect giving me 23MBps bandwidth while still being able to maintain connectivity if one of the 3 links goes down? This is my preferred solution
and if 1 is not possible then
2) Is there a way to configure the router so if the Ethernet circuit goes down, all traffic will be automatically directed over the T1's, and then come back to the Ethernet when it's back online?
I have one problem regarding a configuration (or setting up) of 3G SIM card for 887G router backup. That SIM card had a PIN code, so I disabled it, and now I can see that 3G light flashes Blue, so it detects 3G network. Also I can see that modem tries to dial up to connect to network, but with no luck. It has CHAP APN. Also in configuration I've found that there is PPP CHAP username and password, but I don't have any of those. I've tried to configure my SIM card with Username and Password, but it doesn't save. At the moment I have: Cellular 0 is down, line protocol is down. Dialer 2 is up (spoofing), line protocol is up (spoofing).
SIM card status is OK. Network detects O2 - IRL - yes.
It detects the network, but cannot connect to it. I'm not sure how to setup the SIM card or how to unlock it.

View 7 Replies View Relatedhow to configure a backup route to the internet. My client has 2 ISP and basically they want to use 1 ISP and in case the ISP fails, use the other one as backup route to the internet.
The problem I’m facing is that each ISP is plugged to a dedicated ASA 5510, so 1 ISP in one firewall and 1 in the other. Both ASA are plugged to an internal network in a dedicated VLAN with a L3 switch and that L3 switch manages the internal network.
My question is, how can I tell my switch to use ASA1 to go out to the internet and in case the ASA 1 OR THE LINK TO INTERNET used by ASA 1 fails, use ASA 2? It would be great if I can send traffic to the internet thru both connections at the same time. Also, I know the ASA has High Availability configuration, but that applies only if both licenses in the devices are the same and I have a mismatch with the SVPN license, and also I don't know if with my current topology I can use the High Availability model, so I think I can’t use that option and the solution must be applied in the L3 switch, but I don’t know how to tell it to use ASA1 and if failure of the device or the outside interface plugged to ISP 1, then use ASA2. Besides, I would like to know how to optimize this config to do the switch between internet connections seamless to the users if possible (there are VoIP calls on this floor, so I don't want to drop the calls).

I thought I saw a post/question in regards to "how to" configure a Broadband backup for a MPLS circuit.. What I am trying to do is use a cable/dsl/ broadband (secondary) connection as a backup to a MPLS circuit (primary). I have EIGRP and BGP configured on both the branch endpoint and the tunnel headend. The tunnel is used by the interface that connects to the secondary circuit. The branch location router is a 1841 and the "headend" tunnel router is a 3825. I am wondering about the configuration/syntax of a "weight" or static route that can be used to have data flow over the tunnel when the MPLS circuit goes down - and then switch back to the MPLS circuit when it comes back on line.

So i have to upgrade my WLC because the newones are not compatable with the old WLC version.What will happen to the old AP's ?I was told they will automatically update the IOS version.These AP's (oldones) are not on site, they are in a differnet LAN.
I have a WRT54GS wireless router. I can successfully set up the router with my DSL modem for PPPoE. Here's my problem. The router configuration requires you to put in the userID and password, then logs you in to your ISP automatically. I DON'T want it to do that. Is there any way to configure for PPPoE where ISP login is controlled manually; i.e., when the user tries to connect to a web page, a dialog pops up for entering the password?

I set up a Western Digital 1TB external hard drive as a network drive through use of a Seagate FreeAgent DockStar. (The HD connects to the DockStar by a USB cable, which in turn connects to the router by an Ethernet cable.)
The hard drive functions as a network drive and I've configured Windows 7 Home Premium on my laptop computer to recognize it at start-up so it can essentially be used read and written to like a local drive.
Is there a way to make Windows 7, either by built-in software or third party software, automatically backup certain files or directories when changes are detected?
For example, I have a folder on my internal HD where I organize the vast amount of photos that I take so that I can easily find them through the operating system instead of having to go through a photo manager. In my ideal situation, something would be monitoring to see if I have made changes in only that folder (either adding new folders, deleting photos, or modifying files) and simultaneously make the changes to the network hard drive. Effectively, I want something to mirror the changes on my local hard drive on the fly and update the network hard drive accordingly. I do this all manually at the moment and it sucks up a lot of time that could probably be done automatically.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to determine the best way to setup my E4200 V2 so that it is “uplinked” correctly to a Comcast Dory Modem/router. Currently we have the E4200 V2 router plugged into the Comcast Dory Modem/Router using a CAT6 cable from one of the Ethernet ports on the Comcast device to the WAN port on the E4200. The E4200 is set to “Automatic Configuration - DHCP.”
We are trying to do two things. First better WIFI in the center of the house and for a TV located next to the Comcast device, and second, have all devices in this house see and access all other devices including the Samsung SmartTV, my son’s two systems upstairs, the 3 systems in the room with the E4200, and the one network printer. In the room with the E4200 we have 3 computers and one network printer. 3 of those 4 devices support WIFI so we don’t have to use all 4 Ethernet ports on the E4200.
I see others talking about running the CAT6 cable to an Ethernet port on the E4200 instead of the WAN port and setting it to “Bridge Mode.” Right now the system appears to be working fine although we are sometimes experiencing brief dropped connections with the devices hardwired into the E4200.
Should I be running the E4200 in “Bridge” mode or “Automatic DHCP” mode and which port on E4200 should the CAT6 from Comcast be plugged into?

what I did do was manually set my IP address for my laptop for my wireless. But I no longer needed to do that so I set it back to Automatic. But every minute or so my IP is changing back to 192.168.0.12 which I did change it to, although it is on Automatic. This is my guess to as what it is doing as I have no connection to the internet after about a minute. ipconfig also displays my IP Address as being 192.168.0.12 as well.What I have to do is disable and then reenable my wireless to get it working again.
