View 4 RepliesI am bridging my NetComm router to the Linksys EA4500 and it is giving me only 8MBps whereas the line speed is 14MBps. I have tried to connect directly to the netcomm by disabling the EA4500 and I am getting 14MBps. Any way to increase my speed?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to the EA4500 and the only issue I'm having is that it will not recognize my static DNS settings, which worked fine on my older E2000. No other hardware has changed except the router.I've tried both Google DNS and OpenDNS. In either case, the DNS settings can be entered and saved in the Basic Settings tab, but when I go to the admin tab, it shows my ISP's deafult DNS.

I can successfully print from both Mac's, however I have to manually disconnect and connect the printer in the vusb client. I can't get the auto-connect and auto-disconnect settings to work by themselves. Any guidance on the proper settings here?Additionally, do I need to configure the printer driver though the vusb client? My wireless settings on my Superhub modem look like this.As you can see it has settings for 2.4 OR 5GHz and wireless modes of 54, 144 or 300Mbps.
What setting should I be using for my EA4500 to operate in dual band mode? I'm guessing I should put by Virgin Superhub modem in modem mode at 5GHz/300Mbps.I will besetting up seperate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5GHz bands.

So I attempted to log into the device to see what was wrong and I was surprised to discover that all of the settings including user name and password had reverted back to factory default.
1. What are all of the possible scenarios that would cause this to happen?
2.Would disconnecting power in the middle of a boot up sequence cause the router to revert to factory settings?

After running one of the tools to determine responsiveness of DNS name services, I would like to manually configure my DNS services, placing a more responsive service as my first DNS choice. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to determine the best way to setup my E4200 V2 so that it is “uplinked” correctly to a Comcast Dory Modem/router. Currently we have the E4200 V2 router plugged into the Comcast Dory Modem/Router using a CAT6 cable from one of the Ethernet ports on the Comcast device to the WAN port on the E4200. The E4200 is set to “Automatic Configuration - DHCP.”
We are trying to do two things. First better WIFI in the center of the house and for a TV located next to the Comcast device, and second, have all devices in this house see and access all other devices including the Samsung SmartTV, my son’s two systems upstairs, the 3 systems in the room with the E4200, and the one network printer. In the room with the E4200 we have 3 computers and one network printer. 3 of those 4 devices support WIFI so we don’t have to use all 4 Ethernet ports on the E4200.
I see others talking about running the CAT6 cable to an Ethernet port on the E4200 instead of the WAN port and setting it to “Bridge Mode.” Right now the system appears to be working fine although we are sometimes experiencing brief dropped connections with the devices hardwired into the E4200.
Should I be running the E4200 in “Bridge” mode or “Automatic DHCP” mode and which port on E4200 should the CAT6 from Comcast be plugged into?
I have a new WRVS4400N configured with a site to site VPN to connect to my office. At the office, we're running a Cisco PIX 515E. I have successfully established an IKE preshared key and the tunnel is listed as Up. I can successfully connect through the VPN tunnel into the office network through the tunnel and all seems good. After some period of time, the tunnel apparently goes into a bad state. Access to the office network is no longer available. When looking at the VPN status screen, the Linksys indicates that the tunnel is up. However, I cannot ping any resources on the office lan. If I disconnect and connect the site to site VPN tunnel, it connects and comes back up successfully. It seems like there is some sort of timeout taking place here. I am running the 1.1.03 firmware.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having packet loss with the E4200V2 which is upgraded to the latest firmware as of today, 1/18/12
The application is accessing a security DVR which uses a RTSP / RTP stream. Of course this requires certian ports to be forwarded in order for this to work. This works flawlessly with a WRT310N or a Cisco 871 Router so I know the port forwarding is correct.
With the E4200V2 it works intermittently, I can replace EV4200V2 with either the Cisco 871 or the WRT310N and there are no issues.

A while ago I bought a WRT320N as a trade-in offer, unfortunately I had around 20% packet loss on my connection after I set it up. If running directly through my cable modem I had no connection issues at all.I was running the whole setup cabled, and have no peripherals using the wireless connection. The router was returned to the retailer for RMA, and in the end I got the purchase credited. My setup ISP: Dansk Kabel TV (danish provider for internet, TV etc.)Modem: Netgear CVD31T DOCSIS 3.0 compliant Cablemodem (I do not have access to the modem, as it is provided by the ISP. I have now bought an E2000, and set it up in the same manner as the previous router. This has returned the same problems I had with my previous router.Updating the firmware didn't make any difference.Using Pingtest.net as my test reference I get results like this.when connected directly to the modem I get 0% packet loss, max 20ms ping and jitter is 2-3ms.Have I been so unlucky to get 2 faulty routers in a row, or could there be some problems with Linksys routers and Netgear?I have unsuccessfully tried switching cables without any change, tried moving the router "far" away from the modem, monitors etc to see if there could be any interference from the wireless.

My new EA4500 (fw ver 2.0.36) won't obtain an IP from a Brighthouse TM502G cable modem. The EA4500 replaced a functioning WRT54G which would obtain an IP from the ISP. I've tried upgrading firmware and have used both straight-through and crossover cables between the EA4500 & TM502G to no avail. The EA4500 would issue IPs to it's clients, but not obtain one from it's TM502G. At the moment, all 3 are daisy-chained together with the old WRT54G in the middle in order to make the EA4500 work. Both WiFi and LAN ports function in this configuration.
