I recently upgraded to the EA4500 and the only issue I'm having is that it will not recognize my static DNS settings, which worked fine on my older E2000. No other hardware has changed except the router.I've tried both Google DNS and OpenDNS. In either case, the DNS settings can be entered and saved in the Basic Settings tab, but when I go to the admin tab, it shows my ISP's deafult DNS.

I am connected to the Internet and I need to edit the Internet settings and select a different internet setting: Static IP from the current setting DHCP. I select the option from a drop-down menu after selecting Edit, but there is no edit and no drop-down menu.

View 4 Replies View RelatedPurchased an EA4500 router. I'm using an old HP 4L laserjet and have it connected to the router via the USB port. I have 2 Mac's and installed vusb on both. I can successfully print from both Mac's, however I have to manually disconnect and connect the printer in the vusb client. I can't get the auto-connect and auto-disconnect settings to work by themselves. Any guidance on the proper settings here?Additionally, do I need to configure the printer driver though the vusb client? When I click "configure", I get an error saying"Cannot connect to Prolific Technology Inc. IEEE-1284 Controller.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Virgin Superhub at home which is capable of 2.4 OR 5GHz wireless. I have a mixture of 2.4 and 5 GHz tech at home so would like to use dual band. My wireless settings on my Superhub modem look like this.As you can see it has settings for 2.4 OR 5GHz and wireless modes of 54, 144 or 300Mbps.
What setting should I be using for my EA4500 to operate in dual band mode? I'm guessing I should put by Virgin Superhub modem in modem mode at 5GHz/300Mbps.I will besetting up seperate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5GHz bands.
I want to do with my ea4500 is assign it a static IP and access it after doing so. But, no matter how many times I try, I cannot enter its IP address in the address bar and see its settings. I change its IP to192 168 1 200. Subset 255... DG 192 168 1 1 DNS same.Under router address 192 168 0 1I CANNOT access this router at 192 168 0 1 at all. The thing is, the **bleep** settings are not any different the. How they were when it was WORKING. I literally took a screenshot of my setting in case a scenario like this would come up, yet it more problems arise. The only way I can access the router is by doing a factory reset and accessing it at 192 168 1 1.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed an IP camera, and had to change my E1000 router settings to a static IP address. Now I can't access the router settings. 192.168.1.1 is still the default gateway, but it won't open in any browser.
I'm reluctant to do a reset because it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the IP camera and port forwarding working (it does!), and I'd hate to do it all again and come to the same place. I'm not very good at this stuff, and it's a small miracle that I did it once.
Is there an alternate way to get the DNS settings off of the router? I've followed all of the steps up above, but I cannot set up a static IP Address on my computer without knowing the routers DNS settings, which I cannot retrieve from the web-based setup due to the corrupt firmware.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI attached WD My Book Mirror 2TB to E4200 with firmware 1.0.01 but it was very UNreliable. It would give I/O errors when I tried to access the harddisk. So I upgraded to firmware 1.0.02. Now E4200 doesn't recognize my hard disk at all. Yes, my hard disk is in the list of tested devices using NTFS.I contacted support but no luck.
I also have bad range with this router where I am only about 20ft from the router (2 walls in between) but I get about 3 bars out of 5 on my Windows 7. Could it be because I purchased a refurbished product directly from Cisco?
Bought GoFlex Home 3TB, plugged into Cisco WRT310N V2, w/ Desktop PC (Win 7 64bit) does not recognize the drive. Get NETWORK ERROR "Windows cannot access \goflex_home" Error Code: 0x80070035. Can not map netork drive. Under Win Explorer the drive DOES appear as "GoFlex Home:UPNP-AV" in TWO places, 1) under Media Devices & 2) Under Storage. Bother places are treated as MEDIA because, when I click on either of them it opens Windows Media Player! I can type in the IP address in BOTH IE & WIn Explorer and it will take me to the web page for the drive, where i can log in and create users, add folderes, etc. I WANT TO USE THIS AS A BACK-UP DRIVE, but can't get WINDOWS TO RECOGNIZE IT. The router seemed to recognize the storage, and the computers on the network could see it as a shared drive. Now I have plugged in a Seagate 7200 internal hard drive inside a Rocketfish enclosure, but the router is not recognizing anything. I just upgraded the firmware to 1.0.04, but there was no change. Are there problems using an enclosure rather than just plugging in an external hard drive?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought an EA6500 router mid january. Firmware is 1.1.28.146856 from day 1 I used this new router. I attached my 750Gb Maxtor OneTouch 4 USB disk to it to share data over my network. I was able to define shares on it. Perfect. .. until I wanted to copy several GB's to this disk. It indicated it would take more than 1 day to finish this copy. So I removed this disc from the router (after removing it in the USB menu). I copied the data from my pc to the disc and attached it back to the router. From then on, it always indicates that no disc is present. Resetting the router did not work. Attaching a USB stick to the router does not cause a problem. It is visible and I can copy data to it. After attaching my Maxtor again, it shows no stations attached... (sharing a disk via the router was one of the reasons for buying this type)

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT54GS router that is giving my some trouble. I recently got a new PC and moved my old one into my bedroom along with my Xbox 360. So I didn't have to switch my Ethernet cable between my xbox and pc I bought another cable. Much to my dismay this new cable would not work. At first I thought maybe the cable was bad, but when I connect my pc directly into my modem it works fine. This had my come to the conclusion that it was my router. I have two pcs hooked into it that work fine and a laptop that connects to it wirelessly, but if I try to hook my xbox or pc to it using the new cable they just act as if there isn't a cable connected. When I look at my router the light for the ethernet port that the new cable is in will flash on and off. I've hard reset my router and updated the firmware.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the dir-601 as my main router. Its IP settings are dynamic, not static. My second router, the router I'd like to use as the access point is a Belkin Wireless G Mimo. My goal is to setup the Belkin as an access point downstairs away from the main router. I'd like to do this wirelessly. I'd like to phsycialy plug devices into the Belkin, while the Belkin receives access to the internet wirelessly from my main router, the dir-601.
Here's my issue. There's an easy option to use the Belkin as an access point. So I do this and set the Belkin router to an IP outside the DCHP range ( currently 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.199 ) to 192.168.0.250. My dir-601 will only recognize the Belkin access point while plugged in physically. I know this because when I did a ping test it only see's the Belkin when plugged into the dir-601 via ethernet cables. My ultimate goal is to simply set the dlink dir-601 to recognize the Belkin as an access point.
I've looked all over the internet for this and can't find a definate answer. Waited for live chat and got kicked before I got to talk to someone... Just sold my computer and the plan was to buy a newer mac but we've been getting along fine without a computer with just using our iphones. So my question, I see that Cisco has the Connect Express app for the iphone, and I've read about all the features it has like changing settings, router features, etc. But I can't find anything on using the app for the initial set up of the router. I'm currently on an older linksys router (set up before we sold the computer) but it's time for a needed upgrade.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my ea4500 all set up. never had a media servor or anything like that, figured this would be an easier way. when i hook up my exteral i can find it but i can only view the files in windows media player. how can i just browse the folders manually? WMP doesnt let me browse the folders as they actually are on the HDD which is such a pain in the **bleep**.
shows a device in "network infrastructure" but it says problem sending command to the program when i click that. i dont want to have to view the HDD in WMP as a media device...
My new EA4500 (fw ver 2.0.36) won't obtain an IP from a Brighthouse TM502G cable modem. The EA4500 replaced a functioning WRT54G which would obtain an IP from the ISP. I've tried upgrading firmware and have used both straight-through and crossover cables between the EA4500 & TM502G to no avail. The EA4500 would issue IPs to it's clients, but not obtain one from it's TM502G. At the moment, all 3 are daisy-chained together with the old WRT54G in the middle in order to make the EA4500 work. Both WiFi and LAN ports function in this configuration.

However on the 5 Ghz tab, nothing? I can see Channels 36, 40, 44, 48, 52 and so on BUT no trace of any wireless signal here?I carefully reviewed the wireless settings options and it is indeed enabled.

Although the signal is not good, but we used to use a router EA3000 to relay the signal. Now my roommate is leaving with this this router. So I bought EA4500 and try to do the similar job. However, I find that the configurations on 192.168.1.1 are different between EA3000 and EA4500. Many options cannot be found in the EA4500 page, such as the wireless client.

I've reset, powercycled, unplugged, plugged, searched, and searched but I cant seem to get it to find the router.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm hoping to get this router to allow WOL (actually wake on WAN) but it seems to be blocking the necessary broadcast magic packet even though the settings appear correct. It's not critical, but the reason is this: I'd like to shut down the home PC, but when necessary be able to start it up and use a VPN to access any info I need remotely.
From within the LAN, I can verity that WOL works. I have NIC and PCI WOL enabled in the BIOS. The NIC (a Marvel Yukon Gigabit) has WOL enabled as well as "allow this device to wake.." using magic packets under power management. The target machine's local IP is reserved through the EA4500 DHCP Reservation table. Just for troubleshooting, I opened port 9 in windows firewall. More importantly, I have ports 7-9 forwarded to my target LAN address. Single port forwarding... it just has been less reliable (?). I'm using a mask of 255.255.255.128 in order to enable broadcasting on .127 at some point as it seems it must be necessary. Broadcasting on .255 is not possible, despite some workarounds I found on the web. EA4500 firmware is the latest, 2.0.37. I have turned off the multicast filter and the anonymous internet filters under the security tab.
So, with these settings, I can WOL from inside the network no problem either targeting the LAN address, or by using a dyndns address. So far so good.With these same settings, I can go to WAN using Depicus or the Cloud Connect Pro app over 4G on an iPad. With all these same settings, WOLsniffer confirms the magic packet still getting through over WAN (obviously using the dyndns address). Even better, I can shutdown the target PC and STILL wake it up within a few minutes from WAN. Let me restate that! Wake up over WAN works, but only for the first few minutes after a shutdown.
However, if I wait 20 minutes or so, WOL stops working. If I change the port forwarding to .127, not only does it not work, but WOLsniffer will fail to see the magic packet. My conclusion is that the ARP table is getting purged, which is undertandable, and so the target LAN address isn't in memory. However, frustratingly the EA4500 will not broadcast no matter what settings you use. This limitation is undocumented, and counterintuitive since the software allows you to disable multicast filtering and does not notify you of an error when forwarding to xxx.xxx.xxx.127 with a 255.255.255.128 mask.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought 2 weeks ago a Linksys EA4500 after searching the best Wi-Fi Router all over the net... I choose this cos all over people writed that it was amazing, fast a nd very good coverage all over the house.
Before I had a Buffalo AirStation Dual Band, wich worked perfectly. But since I have several tv and a central NAS whit all films in MKV, I wanted the BEST product for my system, so I choosed Linksys EA4500!
Well, the result is that (when it works it is greate) but sometimes it disconnects and I have to restart it... And second thing that makes me MAD is that the coverage in my house is WORST!! Before my Wi-Fi was present in all the house, now in some parts doesn't work! The position is the exact same of the Buffalo, so it's not a problem of position... I tryed also a router of 40€ and it has a better coverage! How come? how is it possible that a person pays more than 200$ (in Italy it costs 185€) and the result is so BAD??? I'm totaly freak about Linksys now.
