Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT310N V2 - Win7 X64 Not Recognizing GoFlex Home As Drive?
Jun 25, 2012
Bought GoFlex Home 3TB, plugged into Cisco WRT310N V2, w/ Desktop PC (Win 7 64bit) does not recognize the drive. Get NETWORK ERROR "Windows cannot access \goflex_home" Error Code: 0x80070035. Can not map netork drive. Under Win Explorer the drive DOES appear as "GoFlex Home:UPNP-AV" in TWO places, 1) under Media Devices & 2) Under Storage. Bother places are treated as MEDIA because, when I click on either of them it opens Windows Media Player! I can type in the IP address in BOTH IE & WIn Explorer and it will take me to the web page for the drive, where i can log in and create users, add folderes, etc. I WANT TO USE THIS AS A BACK-UP DRIVE, but can't get WINDOWS TO RECOGNIZE IT. I have turned off McAfee

Just bought a Seagate GoFlex 3TB external USB drive to connect to the E3000 router I recently purchased and it is dead. The LED light on the front of the drive doesn't come on when plugged into the router. It does when going direct to the PC and I can access the drive but when I go to the router, and try to explore the drive-nothing. Now if I go to the settings on the router it sees the GoFlex but there are no folders showing even after I entered a 'media sharing' one via PC. I've rebooted the router, the PC,the drive, nada. I reformatted to NTFS and nothing. Why the heck does this router refuse to see this drive? I even when connected to the PC made sure the sleep timer was set to 'never' so it wouldn't sleep on me.

I have a E4200 router, and I had previously plugged in a small external hard drive just to test the functionality. The router seemed to recognize the storage, and the computers on the network could see it as a shared drive. Now I have plugged in a Seagate 7200 internal hard drive inside a Rocketfish enclosure, but the router is not recognizing anything. I just upgraded the firmware to 1.0.04, but there was no change. Are there problems using an enclosure rather than just plugging in an external hard drive?

I have during the day attemped to install the card on my machine.
At first attempt, I followed the instruction on the CD. It took forever, and ended up giving me the notorious "Error 211".
I then tried the different solutions. First this one: [URL] The difference however being that the card indeed was found and identified properly by the device manager. Installed the downloaded drivers manually, but if I remember correctly (this was a few hours ago) it timed out and I got a message the device wasn't properly installed.
[URL] Here I couldn't even perform the first step, since I couldn't even remove the drivers! The process of uninstalling drivers gets stuck, and I waited for over an hour, and eventually decided to just rip the USB dongle out. That stopped the uninstalling process. Refitted the USB dongle in the computer, and the network device showed up the same way as it did before.
So, what apperas to be the case is that the device seems to have the proper drivers installed, but for some reason it cannot communicate properly with the computer. I can see it in the device manager; I can see the properties and even change the settings. However, I cannot uninstall it, remove it (with the Remove USB Device dialogue) or access it in any other way - it becomes completely unresponsive and if anything happens, it times out. The card does not show up in the list of avaliable network devices. The blue diode on the dongle lights, and sometimes flashes as if it was working.

I have spent over 6 hours trying to download the driver for the wusb54gsc ver. 2 software for win7 x64. Your us site is taking over 20 minutes to show it's pages (Sometimes over 40 mins, get more servers!) but the uk site is quick. I search for "wusb54gsc" on Bing and all the sites give me drivers for everything but the 54gsc. Your site (uk) only gave me the user guides! The last time your software decided to just disappear I found it in less than a half hour! I'm very upset link or URL to download the driver from or are you restricting access to it.

Recently purchased refurb AE1000, it failed to work in Win7(AsusSabertooth I7 system) showing up but never enabling regardless of what I tried. I tested it in an old notebook I have under XP and worked flawlessly. So, I then tested it in XP mode on the I7 and it worked as well. I've used the latest Cisco drivers but no luck under Windows 7. It obviously isn't the hardware?

I am getting 22-30mbs down through my router wired and I'm only getting about half of that through wireless. Is this normal? I also have a question about the color of the internet led. The online manual says that it should be blue, but mine is green. All of the other LEDs are blue except the internet one. Not sure if that is an issue or not.

our WRT310N router does not retain any configuration given to it. When we reset the device, it goes back to its factory settings. In that state we can access the device (http://192.168.1.1), make some changes and save it. The changes include giving it a different name from the default, and setting a password for the connection. However, when we try to use it for our wireless network, we cannot connect to the internet. Checking the Connection Status in a Windows XP laptop, we found out that we have been given a gateway different from what we have set the device into and thus a different set of IP addresses for each of the device.
Also at this time, we cannot access the router anymore (via 192.168.1.1 or via the gateway provided) and thus having no choice but to reset the device again. We then reinput the configuration desired, save it, restart the systems (both PCs and router) but after a few moments (initially it retains the settings chosen) we won't be able to connect through the Internet and find out that the router has a different configuration again. We also tried letting the device "rest" but the same problem persists.

I have a Linksys WRT310N V2 wireless router. Last week it started blocking access to our family website. That website appears to be the only one that is blocked. Every other website we have tried works just fine. I have tried the following.Remove the WRT310N router and plug a computer directly into the broadband modem. After this everything works fine for the one computer I have hooked into the internet.Remove the WRT310N router and substitute an old Linksys non-wireless router. Everything works fine for the hardwired computers on the LAN. Again, not really an option, need wireless access.
Unplug the router and so a soft reset. Still blocks this one website.I have not done a hard reset to factory specs. I wasn't looking forward to redoing everything I had set up.I looked over every setting in this router and can't find anything that would cause it to block a web page. I am far from a networking expert, but most of the settings seem pretty obvious.

I have a WRT310N router and suddenly it stopped connecting to the Internet. I can't ping anything from the router page. I tried restarting it a few times, unplugged it, left it off for a few minutes, plugged it back in, upgraded the firmware, still not working. I tried another router and it works fine. When connected directly to the modem, it works fine, so the problem has to come from the router.
I can connect to the router through wired or wireless just fine, I just can't access the internet.

I've tried every reset feature there is & nothing has worked! I'm I going to need a new router?

Works fine when I connect directly to my cable modem. No PC or device behind my firewall can access it when going through firewall.Other crashplan hosts (notably, central.crashplan.com 443) work just fine. And of course, every other https site I use works just fine.

I've been using the WRT310N and noticed that the range is quite poor--I've noticed this in two different houses.I've tried using an old repeater but it is a G repeater so it seems to actually make things worse i.e. a remote device will work slightly better with an unrepeated N signal than a repeated G (router is a in mixed mode).

I'll be installing a cable modem in the next few days and would like to connect my WRT310N to it. I was wondering what would be the best settings to use.
Main uses:
- Distance from WRT310N to other devices is around 8 meters, separated by 1 concrete wall
- Stream music/video from PC to iPad and another laptop wirelessly.
- Transfer files between devices

I accidentally flashed my WRT310N version 1.0 with version 2.0 firmware. After which the router was dead as a doornail. After a frustrating 3 hours of reading forums, following over 11 tutorials, and being 1 second away from throwing my WRT310N at the wall, I finally fixed it.I performed this fix on a Windows 7 32-bit PC. My provider is Comcast.Make sure you only have one ethernet cable connected from your PC to the router. The cable should be connected to any one of the 4 blue ports. I connected mine to port 1. DO NOT CONNECT IT TO THE YELLOW INTERNET PORT on the router.
With the router in your hand, hold down the reset button for 30 seconds until the port 1 light goes out then immediately disconnect the power while still holding down the reset button. DO NOT LET GO OF THE RESET BUTTON!WAIT 30 more seconds with the power disconnected. (Do not let go of the reset button)PLUG the power back in and WAIT another 30 seconds. After that, let go of the reset button. You should have held the reset button for a total of 90 seconds. This will wipe the router's nvram.Bring up the command prompt window that you prepared earlier. You should still see the ping command that you entered in Step 2. Now, hit ENTER to start pinging the router continuously. You will probably see a bunch of "request timed out" responses.Bring up the TFT2.exe window that you prepared in step 2. Press UPGRADE so it can begin communicating with the router. Make sure you set at least 10 retries.
As quickly as possible, go back to your router and HOLD the reset button and disconnect the power. You don't need to wait 30 seconds...5 seconds is enough. While stil holding the reset button down, plug the power back into the router and keep an eye on the command prompt and TFT2.exe windows. If the command prompt has successfully pinged the router, TFT2.exe will begin to flash it and very soon it will show a success message below the progress bar. If you still can't successfully ping the router, close and restart TFT2.exe using the same settings and try disconnecting/reconnecting the router's power again as mentioned in the paragraph above. You may want to try holding the reset button down longer than 5 seconds. I was able to get this to work on the FIRST TRY.Now that your router is has the proper firmware, go back to your adapter's settings (mentioned in step 4), delete the static IP and set it back to the default automatic settings.Plug your cables back in and don't forget to plug the ethernet cable from your modem to the yellow internet port on your WRT310N."Recycle" the power to your cable modem by holding down the reset for 60 seconds or disconnect it from the power outlet for 60 seconds.Reset your router by holding the reset button for 30 seconds.

I have a WRT310N wireless router (Ver 1). In the house we've got 1 macbook, 2 laptops running windows vista, and 2 desktops running windows XP.The original problem is that both desktops will not connect wirelessly. All 3 laptops connect but neither desktop wants to connect. Most of the time neither desktop will even recognize the wireless network. On one of the desktops we bought and installed a linksys wireless-n pci adapter. It was installed using the software that came with it and the drivers were updated. It still does not recognize the network or connect (obviously).
This has led me to try to upgrade the firmware on the router. The firmware version it is currently running is 1.0.4 (Jan 3, 2008) and I have been trying to upgrade to 1.0.7. I downloaded the firmware update from the linksys website. I accessed the router via my browser and went to the "Firmware Upgrade" section under Administration. However, the upgrade freezes at 98% every time I try.
I have tried to upgrade the firmware wireless, wired, and wired without internet connectivity and nothing works. Fortunately stopping the upgrade after the freeze at 98% has not had any negative affects on the router as it still works perfectly on the 3 laptops. I even re-downloaded the firmware .bin file before the last attempt and still nothing. The fact that neither desktop will connect wirelessly is baffling, but I don't know what to make of the fact that the firmware update freezes at 98%. I've looked for the intermediary firmware updates to see if I could step my way up to the latest update, but I haven't been able to find them.

I have a series of problems I think are due to my 310N. First, with Facebook, I will suddenly be redirected to a248.e.akamai.net., which Chrome flags as an SSL error. Second, with (and only with) NYTimes.com, I will get "file not found" (and no numerical error) when trying to retrieve an article (via Chrome). AND, again only with NYTimes.com, I will get high-bit ascii characters in headlines. For other sites, I will get "invalid url" messages on web pages. If I unplug the modem and let it rest for 30 seconds, that seems to solve the problem. I have to do this at least once a day.
More than once a day. I don't think it's a 310N problem; but I've asked about this on other forums and got no useful reply. Previously I had similar problems with my 160 router. So, it's not the router. HOWEVER, shutting it off works with lot of the problems. Right now, after shutting off the router and turning it back on, now Facebook just doesn't come up at all. No error, just don't come up. I can ping it.

So, as MANY others have complained of, my router would frequently drop the wireless connection. I've read through the posts about change this, do these, upgrade that, all of which resulted in nothing. Everyone is looking to blame the firmware, but that's not it. It's the hardware. They assembled these units with bad capacitors. Anyways, the fix is simply to replace these capacitors with new ones yourself. THIS WILL VOID WARRANTY and you may permanently damage your equipment (if you're an idiot and leave it plugged in...), but it will take half an hour, a soldering iron and $5 of parts from radio shack (or online if you want better quality). It's really, really easy.
Some good info if you plan on going this route: {URL}
WRT310N V1 board (6 capacitors to replace):
WRT310N V2 (4 caps to replace): (this is showing the new capacitors I installed. ugly, I know, but it works.)

I recently upgraded to the EA4500 and the only issue I'm having is that it will not recognize my static DNS settings, which worked fine on my older E2000. No other hardware has changed except the router.I've tried both Google DNS and OpenDNS. In either case, the DNS settings can be entered and saved in the Basic Settings tab, but when I go to the admin tab, it shows my ISP's deafult DNS.

I attached WD My Book Mirror 2TB to E4200 with firmware 1.0.01 but it was very UNreliable. It would give I/O errors when I tried to access the harddisk. So I upgraded to firmware 1.0.02. Now E4200 doesn't recognize my hard disk at all. Yes, my hard disk is in the list of tested devices using NTFS.I contacted support but no luck.
I also have bad range with this router where I am only about 20ft from the router (2 walls in between) but I get about 3 bars out of 5 on my Windows 7. Could it be because I purchased a refurbished product directly from Cisco?

How to successfully increas the signal range of the WRT310n? I live in a huge old place and the signal drops to one bar (dial-up speed) about 40 feet across the building. However, at the room before that (maybe 30 feet) my Apple Mac book gets great signal and it's no problem. I need to connect the Mac and 2 PC laptops wirelessly.I'm not sure whether to try a signal booster, set up another access point (or how to do that anyway), or what? Running a cable is unfortunately not an option.I also have a WRT300n (which was replaced this weekend with the 310n). Not sure which one really is better, but the 300n router's range didn't even make it as far as the 310n does. (There was weak signal, no active bars.) Someone suggested adding a more powerful antenna to that router instead?

I am unable to access my router through the ip address (192.168.1.1) even though I have verified that is the address. To be sure, I did an ipconfig release/renew, but no results. I want to limit a user's network access by MAC address and I don't think I can do that without accessing the router thru the ip address.

I have a WRT310N V2 wireless router, with a WMP600N dual-band PCI card in my computer, using Vista 64x. I have had the same set-up for the past year or so, even after moving to a new apt, which I have been in now for 3 months. It has worked perfectly, up till recently. Over the past week however, my router has been dropping the connection, to the point of having to wait for it to show back up in my connections list. I made no changes to my setup, prior to the problems. I am kind of doubting it's my wireless card, as I can still see other routers. I have tried changing the MTU size, the Threshold, made sure the firmware was up to date, etc. I re-installed the drivers for my NIC and even changed ports, just to be on the safe side. I don't know what else to do, except go out and get another router. I have to use wireless, as I have nowhere to run cables at. I had this problem before with a Linksys wireless router, but figured it was due to the extreme amount of bandwidth my game uses online. Ironically, both routers are doing the same thing. They hit lag every 60 seconds almost on the money. I'm a gamer, so this is a huge inconvenience for me.
