Routers / Switches :: Linksys WRT54GS Router Is Not Recognizing PC?

I have a Linksys WRT54GS router that is giving my some trouble. I recently got a new PC and moved my old one into my bedroom along with my Xbox 360. So I didn't have to switch my Ethernet cable between my xbox and pc I bought another cable. Much to my dismay this new cable would not work. At first I thought maybe the cable was bad, but when I connect my pc directly into my modem it works fine. This had my come to the conclusion that it was my router. I have two pcs hooked into it that work fine and a laptop that connects to it wirelessly, but if I try to hook my xbox or pc to it using the new cable they just act as if there isn't a cable connected. When I look at my router the light for the ethernet port that the new cable is in will flash on and off. I've hard reset my router and updated the firmware.

My main networking device is the Ericsson T073G HGU ONT, and when I am connecting to the network through the Ethernet there are no problems. However when I connect my Belkin F6D4230-4 router to it (through cable) my router cannot recognize the modem.I have tried literally everything.

Why does err 0x80040900 show up sometimes when tx/rx email? I use a WRT54GS linksys router. I have more than one computer which use Microsoft Outlook 2003 to check email accounts. When the error shows up I can ping the server no problem. The error sometimes goes away and comes back randomly.

I have a linksys wrt54gs wireless router (working fine since last 3 years) which connects to the internet fine if there is no password set. However if i set WEP password to protect the wireless connection, i am not able to connect to the wireless connection. Everytime i enter the passphrase, when trying to connect to the wireless network, it refuses to accept the password. I have tried this with 2 laptops (both running windows 7) and both have same issue.

I am unable to connect to the internet thru my router, Lynksys WRT54Gs. The network worked fine before I went on vacation. I accessed the internet by connecting the ethernet directly to the modem, and have been unsuccessful at my attempts to reset the router with 192.168.1.1

Signed onto pc as admin, logged into router with correct user name and password. No page in the browser based configuration displays the complete information for the page. Menus are missing as are option labels, etc. The last time I accessed the router (about a year ago) I didn't have this problem.

I have been having a lot of trouble lately with my wireless network. Basically, under certain situations it will constantly drop out, by which I mean all computers will lose connection with the wireless network for about 30 seconds and then reconnect.This is happening with two different wireless routers so I don't exactly know what is happening. I usually use a Linksys WRT54GS v7 but after this started happening I borrowed a friend's Linksys WRT54G2 v1 router to test it out with no change. I also updated both router's firmware last week, and changed both router's channels to 1 in case that was a part of the problem. To clarify,only one router is being used at a time, I have just tried different steps with each one.The other day when it was happening repeatedly, I connected one of the computers directly to the modem and had no problems so I do not think it has anything to do with my modem. On the network, depending on the time of day, there will be any combination of three macbooks running the latest version of snow leopard and one older PC running Windows XP. The network can drop out with only the PC, no PC, or any combo of macs. There can also be two iPhones and a Blackberry using the wireless depending on who is home. The most consistent problems seem to occur whenever something is being uploaded. We seem to get major issues when my wife is sending relatively large files (5MB+) using her macbook's mail program (either sending through gmail or her work address). However, yesterday it was happening every 30 seconds when someone was talking on skype on her macbook while there were two other macbooks connected to the network but doing nothing more than using a browser for basics like google.I have also noticed that this will often happen, though usually only once rather than repeatedly, when a computer that hasn't been on is turned on.

My linksys router all of a sudden stopped recognizing the 3 LAN lines that are hooked up to it, we are only able to access the internet via wireless. any suggestions on why the router would all of a sudden stop recognizing the LAN lines?

I recently upgraded to the EA4500 and the only issue I'm having is that it will not recognize my static DNS settings, which worked fine on my older E2000. No other hardware has changed except the router.I've tried both Google DNS and OpenDNS. In either case, the DNS settings can be entered and saved in the Basic Settings tab, but when I go to the admin tab, it shows my ISP's deafult DNS.

I attached WD My Book Mirror 2TB to E4200 with firmware 1.0.01 but it was very UNreliable. It would give I/O errors when I tried to access the harddisk. So I upgraded to firmware 1.0.02. Now E4200 doesn't recognize my hard disk at all. Yes, my hard disk is in the list of tested devices using NTFS.I contacted support but no luck.
I also have bad range with this router where I am only about 20ft from the router (2 walls in between) but I get about 3 bars out of 5 on my Windows 7. Could it be because I purchased a refurbished product directly from Cisco?

Bought GoFlex Home 3TB, plugged into Cisco WRT310N V2, w/ Desktop PC (Win 7 64bit) does not recognize the drive. Get NETWORK ERROR "Windows cannot access \goflex_home" Error Code: 0x80070035. Can not map netork drive. Under Win Explorer the drive DOES appear as "GoFlex Home:UPNP-AV" in TWO places, 1) under Media Devices & 2) Under Storage. Bother places are treated as MEDIA because, when I click on either of them it opens Windows Media Player! I can type in the IP address in BOTH IE & WIn Explorer and it will take me to the web page for the drive, where i can log in and create users, add folderes, etc. I WANT TO USE THIS AS A BACK-UP DRIVE, but can't get WINDOWS TO RECOGNIZE IT. I have a E4200 router, and I had previously plugged in a small external hard drive just to test the functionality. The router seemed to recognize the storage, and the computers on the network could see it as a shared drive. Now I have plugged in a Seagate 7200 internal hard drive inside a Rocketfish enclosure, but the router is not recognizing anything. I just upgraded the firmware to 1.0.04, but there was no change. Are there problems using an enclosure rather than just plugging in an external hard drive?

I bought an EA6500 router mid january. Firmware is 1.1.28.146856 from day 1 I used this new router. I attached my 750Gb Maxtor OneTouch 4 USB disk to it to share data over my network. I was able to define shares on it. Perfect. .. until I wanted to copy several GB's to this disk. It indicated it would take more than 1 day to finish this copy. So I removed this disc from the router (after removing it in the USB menu). I copied the data from my pc to the disc and attached it back to the router. From then on, it always indicates that no disc is present. Resetting the router did not work. Attaching a USB stick to the router does not cause a problem. It is visible and I can copy data to it. After attaching my Maxtor again, it shows no stations attached... (sharing a disk via the router was one of the reasons for buying this type)

trying to add a media storage device (3 TB WD My Book Essentials) to my N600 DB router via USB. I have partitioned the HD 2 TB / 1 TB. I have tried several formatting scheme but the router is still not recognizing the HD. Have refreshed, reset, and done a firmware upgrade to the 600.

I typed in my web browser 192.168.1.1 and comes up user name and password. after I type in Admin and admin kicks me back out to user name and password. I have reset the router per instructions and still doesn't work.

I have Qwest router on 192.168.0.1 but my linksys router is hardwired to that router to provide a stronger signal throughout the house. I can't get to the 192.168.1.1 page through the internet. I need to configue the linksys router. Specifically to forward some ports to/for the XBox360 or at least make sure Upnp is enabled.

every time i try to acces my linksys router my IE just auto adds http:// and opens google search results. I cannot make IE not auto add that freaking http thing, on the old win XP i could type in 192.168.1.1 and it just went straight to my router login. Do i disable this IE auto http crap? i simply cannot acces my router anymore??i can ping the router, even using Cisco network magic pro I tried to reset router checked my internet settings everything works fine, this pc has a dhcp auto configuration etc.

ive been having a problem with my router since ive been using it for its wireless capabilities. it is a linksys wrt120n router. our internet comes from our local cable provider and it is good internet (10Mb download speed). running to our old router that split the connection between my xbox and our desktop computer worked fine and even for a large amout of time after i switched to this wrt120n there were no internet problems. now all of a sudden the router drops connection multiple times a day which can become a hassle when i'm doing something importaant and lose connection. and just a little bit of extra information i cycle the systems every time it does it and theres no fix.

After a power failure nothing could connect to the internet anymore. I called MTS (ISP provider) and they had me change some setup on my PC. Now my PC connects to the internet, but nothing else will connect (X Box, WII, iPods, Laptop). They were connected wireless before the power outage through my router. MTS said they are only responsible for ensuring their model works, not routers.I have checked some router settings. It is set for DHCP with 50 users.

I attached an Iomego Home Media network hard drive to my Linksys E3000 router (via ethernet cable). Before setting up the remote access on the Iomega, I forwarded the ports that it wanted (443 and 21) to the static IP of the Iomega. I checked to see that they were open using yougetsignal.com and they were both open. After setting up the remote access on the Iomega, the 443 port closed and I cant even get into the "manage storage device" page for the Iomega. Iomega uses TZo for the domain names. They tell me that the association is made between the name and my public IP address. My router is out of warranty since Sept, so Linksys wont give me the time of day. I contacted my ISP and while they block a couple of ports, 443 is not one of them.I've installed the latest firmware (1.0.04 - Build 6). Reset and rebooted numerous times, Port 443 remains closed.

My ISP insists that in order for me to have a home network use their router/modem ("2-Wire") for internet access, I must make my own network router act as a bridge since their modem is acting as the router. I.e. she said put your router into bridge mode. I don't know how to do that and Linksys won't offer assistance.

I have had my router (linksys WRT54GS) for a few years now. I lost the disk for the inital set up and had the company send me the set up wizzard i get all the way to the last step and it tells me that the router either can connect to the router... now i was told i had to upgrade the firmware.

A newer router that I got from a friend, a CISCO Linksys WRT310N, is not connecting to my XP computer via a CAT5e cable. It willconnect for about 5 to15 mins, then lose connectivity. Ihaven't tried with a faster CAT6, since my dog chewed through my other one,and I have yet to get a new one. I used an older NETGEAR B/G router and it worked fine.

How do I set up the linksys wtr54G wireless router in the dorm room. When I try setting it up, I can only access the router set-up main page which is 192.168.1.1 then icon status shows that it sends out packets, but my computer doesn't receive any signal or (bytes).
