View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Motorola SBG901 Modem/Router combo has stopped connecting to the internet. I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there anyway to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901? Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT54GS, version 6 with Mac OS X (version 10.6.8) hooked up to a Scientific Atlantic cable modem, with RCN as the ISP.
Recently, RCN had some network issues, and so I had to power down and reset my modem. The modem is working fine now -- no problems at all when the Mac is connected direclty to the modem.
The router's network is OK in that I can connect the Mac wirelessly to the network, but I can't connect to the internet through the router (through neither the wireless or wired connection).
I have downloaded the latest firmware update for the router, following the Linksys site instructions.
I did call Linksys tech support on the advice of RCN, and they said that the router does appear to be working (power, WLAN, and Internet lights are on), but they would be charging me nearly the cost of a new router to fix the problem.
I have a new router with RJ11 input....but from my DSL Modem, the output is Rj45.how can i connect it...

So I didn't have to switch my Ethernet cable between my xbox and pc I bought another cable. Much to my dismay this new cable would not work. At first I thought maybe the cable was bad, but when I connect my pc directly into my modem it works fine. This had my come to the conclusion that it was my router. I have two pcs hooked into it that work fine and a laptop that connects to it wirelessly, but if I try to hook my xbox or pc to it using the new cable they just act as if there isn't a cable connected. When I look at my router the light for the ethernet port that the new cable is in will flash on and off. I've hard reset my router and updated the firmware.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe Windows netowrk Diagnostics tells me the problem is; "Local area connection doesn't have a valid IP Configuration"
However if i connect my modem directly to my PC it works just fine, the problem comes when i try and use my router(WRT54GS) that everything seems to stop working. My internet was working just fine with morning with my router. Now it doesn't want to work and nothing else in my house can connect to the internet.
I borrowed a netbook from a friend to take on vacation . It is a Dell Inspiron Mini 1011 running XP SP3 My router is a WRT54GS. I can connect to the router with my Vista laptop with no problems. I can connect to the router with a cat cable using the netbook. The netbook sees a strong signal from my router all the time, but will not connect. Occasionally it will connect for a moment, but then disconnects.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using a Linksys WRT54GSV4 router since November 2005, and have rarely had any problems with it. Now today after the power went out, devices cannot connect to the internet. My PC connected directly to the cable modem results in internet connectivity. My PC connected to the router allows router access through 192.168.1.1.My PC connected to the router can NOT access the internet or otherwise get out to the modem.WiFi devices in the house cannot connect to the internet, but can still access the router through 192.168.1.1.Swapping cables results in the same behavior, so the PC can connect to the modem with either cable, and the computer can connect to the router with either cable.

I have a wrt54gs linsys router with speedbooster. I bought my son a tablet for xmas. I cannot connect the tablet to the network. It finds my network, searches for an IP address, and then disconnects. It will connect for about 2 seconds, and then shows disconnected. My PC's, and WII work fine, although getting the WII ad netflix to reconnect after a power outage is like rocket science requiring field support every time. My tablet wont stay connected, and the book tells me that the router must accept 802.11b/g, and that if it has 802.11n, then it needs to be reconfigured to accept 802.11b/g.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to connect a WRT54GS to a Netgear FVS318 router to proivde wireless access to my network. My current setup has my DSL modem connected to the FVS318 to provide my network computer with wired internet access. Can I simply connect the WRT54GS to the FVS318 using the LAN port? I've read other threads that mentioned changing the WRT ip address to 192.168.0.150 and disabling DHCP. i've don'e both, but I still don't get wireless access. My wireless devices can connect, but they don't have internet access. I have some questions below:
1. In the WRT setup, what do I use for the Internet connection type? Since my Netgear has that information already, do I need to put anything here?
2. In Setup -> Advanced Routing, do I neet to change the operating mode to Router?
3. Any other configuration changes that I need to do?
I currently have an E1000 connected to my cable modem in my living room. It provides wireless access to my whole household.
I have a set of computers I want to have set up as a lab on their own router and have a WRT54GS available for me to modify.
The WRT is in the dining room (office) and the cable modem/E1000 are about 45 feet away.
I want to set up the wireless environment on the E1000 as 192.168.1.1-24 and the wired network as 192.168.2.1-24 with the wired network being able to wirelessly connect to the wired so all the machines in the house can see my server and other machines.
My WRT54GS worked perfectly till 3days .. everything works perfectly it just that i cannot get connection to itunes store neither over wifi or on my pc .. when i disconnected my router and connect my pc directly to the modem .

View 2 Replies View RelatedI intend to connect a network built around the WRT54GS to Internet by passing through a second network who is already connected to Internet through the Orange Livebox-2 (French).I have a traditional home network with basic shares on the French Orange Livebox-2 and its WiFi.The computers runs XP - Pro .My ADSL access is normally through the Livebox-2 (Range of addresses 192.168.1.xxx) and I run DHCP Working Group "WORKGROUP".It works without problem (Internet and VoIP telephony) except the Wifi of the Livebox which is known as poor (range and stability).I also manages a small "pedagogical workshop" for the school who visit my mill. This network is available to my young visitors based on a (tower) server containing the libraries and teaching materials and its printer. It’s XP - Pro machine. and to allow a maximum of two laptops be WiFi connected. The second network is built around the Linksys router (wich integrates no modem, simply a router). The WRT54GS router (rev 6) whose firmware is original Linksys up to date.I am setting the two Wi-Fi (Livebox 6 Cnl) and Cnl 4 on WRT54GS and different keys (this is manageable without difficulty). It has its server DHCP and Wi-Fi to connect their machine. What about the name of this second network group ? Currently “WORKGROUP” as well.I am setting a range different on the router WRT54GS (192.168.2.xxx) and enabled the DHCP.This "educational" network works perfectly when alone and separated from the "home" network and doesn’t get connected to Internet…I want to connect this router Linksys WRT54GS rev6 cascading through the Livebox-2. Share Internet via the Livebox-2 access. What about functionality? What is the connection to setup ?Should it be simple physical connection with a cable between the yellow ethernet port "2" of the Liveboxbox and the "Internet" connector of the Linksys router? Is this a good track to explore? I have searched extensively on the Internet but found proposals who are very old and refer to old Livebox... I did test and is not satisfactory...

I've recently been gifted with a WRT54GS v.2 which came from a family member who upgraded their wireless router and therefore passed this one along to me. It was working perfectly for them, but not me.
I've tried using the setup CD and doing a manual setup, but no internet connection is detected. I must confess to being a total wireless router newbie, this is my first one, so I am stumped as what to do next. I've looked at the FAQ's and through the forum as well, but I just don't know what might apply to my situation and as I am not very well versed in the terminology, I tend to get lost.
I have a xbox 360 that I want to connect to xbox live with, using my home network. Every time I try to connect to xbox live the only part that fails is the connecting to xbox live part. This is how my network is set up. I have Cox Cable as my ISP, a Linksys WCG200 gateway(v2), and WRT54GS(v7). The cable wire is connected to the WCG200 gateway, then an Ethernet cable connects the gateway to the WRT54GS router, and finally an Ethernet cable connects the router to my xbox 360. I have contacted Cox, Linksys, and Microsoft about the situation and they all say the problem is the version of the router. Someone told me that I may just need to change the firmware, but I don't know how to do that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust purchased a WRVS4400N and for about 6 hours last night tried to get it to work and connect to my cable modem...no success. Is there a setting im am overlooking? I have enough network experience to be dangerous but am not an expert. All other routers i have had in the past have been plug & play mostly. This one is making me want to throw it thru the window. When i plug it in to the modem it dosent even give me a link light that its connected, much less communicate with it.
System Details:
- WRVS4400N Connecting to a Arris TM722 cable eMTA modem
- all cables have been verified (100 times by now)
What i have tried:
- Cloning my PC MAC address
- Pluged in my old router (Linksys E3000) and it connects instantly (Same cables)
- Same as above with PC
- Changed a million settings in the router (to much to list at this point)

Keep modem and linksys router in the den, use a splitter or switch to split the signal from the modem to each router. Use a 50+ foot ethernet cord running from the splitter or switch through the attic and into another room.
