My Motorola SBG901 Modem/Router combo has stopped connecting to the internet. I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there anyway to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901? Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection.
I changed my netgear wireless router password and now my laptop will not connect to the router or to the internet. It has no popup to put the new password. I have no problem logging on with my phone...just the laptop.
I have a router connected to my computer for the many laptops and netbooks used in my home. My computer is down for a bit.I have an internet card, but no one else can use their laptops/ netbooks. Can I also connect my router to my laptop for multiple use in the household?
I just bought a sony vaio laptop and I can't connect to the wireless network, it appears back and forward a message saying that the adapter is not found and then it says it is working and then it is not found again and so no.. Tried to connect the laptop using the WPS button but it did not work either.
I am trying to connect a Netgear wirless router to my cable modem. I have followed the instructions on the set up wizard but it fails to get a connection with the IP and DNS info I provide.I got the IP address info by connecting intially direct from the modem to the PC and then went to Run CMD and type ipconfig /all. I then started the set up wizard and followed the instructions, turning things on in specific order etc. After input the IP and DNS info it reports an error and tells me to check the address information is correct. My internet is a static IP connection (so it tells me and the IP information doesn't change).
I recently upgraded my DSL service, which required installing a new VDSL modem/wireless router (Actiontec c1000a.) Before the upgrade, I was using an older standalone DSL modem with a Netgear router to provide wireless access to my gaming consoles, laptop, etc. Everything works as before with my new wireless router EXCEPT my son's laptop. All my consoles, iPods, and desktop CAN connect to the wireless network, and the laptop will connect over a WIRED ethernet connection. I cannot get it to connect to the wifi.
I have a laptop connected to a net gear wireless router (for internet), but I am very close to buying a Belkin network USB hub to make my hard drive wireless, but this requires a router. I do not want move my hard drive to where my net gear router is, so I need to get another router, i am looking at a Belkin router so that I can make my hard drive wireless (This is the only reason for the router, it will not be used for internet) so I can keep my hard drive in the same place.
i am trying to hook up a laptop to internet that is over ten years old. when i try to set up a wireless network it say there's no dial tone. also when i start it up it says "Network Wireless Update, Router is unavailable". i was going to try an Ethernet cord but there is no Ethernet port on the laptop. what do i do?

I've got a PC(windows 7) connected to a wired router(not wifi), and I also have a laptop that shares the internet with the PC using wifi. A wired printer is connected to the PC. Is it possible for me to share files and print using laptop? (Wifi Connected to a Wired Internet connection)
The wireless router PW has been changed, I got the new one correct but upon entering it on my laptop it goes around circle showing,"Wireless network detected" and then,"Unable to connect to preferred wireless network"It never works. I don't know how to fix this problem. It did not happen on my iPad.
One moment the laptop was using the wireless connection from the router in our house and the next it lost internet access and then wasn't able to recognize the SSID or connection at all on the available wireless connections. We have reset the router and restarted the laptop countless times yet the only internet access we have is on the computer the router is hooked up to.The wireless connection works neither on the laptop nor the Wii, both previously works merely hours ago and with no problems until now.We assume there is an issue with the router itself, whether it be a loose ethernet cord (which only faintly can be moved in its place). It's almost as if the router is stopping them (Wii, and laptop) from having access. When we explore the wireless internet properties on the laptop, it shows the wireless connection, yet only there and doesn't give access to it. Could it be the router, or could the company have restricted WiFi only to the computer it is hooked up to?
Trouble connecting to the internet wireless with Motorola SB6120 and Linksys WRT120N. The modem works directly with LAN but as soon as I try to use the router, I can connect to the network but no internet is available.
I just got a DSL Modem router (DSL 2750U) which has DSL input for internetconnectivity. My internet service provider provides RJ45 Cable which needs LAN input socket on a router for internet connectivity. How do I connect?
My main networking device is the Ericsson T073G HGU ONT, and when I am connecting to the network through the Ethernet there are no problems. However when I connect my Belkin F6D4230-4 router to it (through cable) my router cannot recognize the modem.I have tried literally everything.
I have two routers (set up in two countries). I am using PPPOE to connect between the two routers. I use a laptop connected to my home network using router 1 to access the internet using router 2. i cannot set this up. I use Dlink routers. I tried giving the "default gateway" as router 2's IP address.
I have high-speed cable access currently coming into an older D-Link 4-port wired router. I need to buy a new wired and wireless router so I can sync my new Android 4G phone (I'm in an area with bad cell coverage but I can sync with wi-fi). I have a second house about 200 feet from mine and have 3 Cat5E lines running underground in conduit to it so the lady next door and and her two kids can use the internet (I have 40-50mb service for my business use at home). Problem is that my kids have discovered YouTube, streaming video, video chat, etc. and are burning up my bandwidth. I currently have two of the lines to them disconnected so that I can limit their use to one computer at a time. I'm considering having them buy a Wireless Access Point, can they connect it to the standard single Cat5E LAN wire that is coming from my new wired and wireless router when I buy it?
I installed DD-WRT on my router and placed it in bridge mode, configuring it with what I thought was my Androids IP address for the gateway. I tried with the Android IP address identified through cmyip.org, 184.108.40.206, and with the one identified through ipconfig command, 192.168.43.1. Neither address was successful. Also, I am unable to access my router using the IP address that I manually assigned to it.provide some assistance on the process of bridging from an Android to a wired PC through a router, Linksys WRT54G v3,
I have a Netgear N300 Wireless Router (WNR2000), and I am trying to connect the internet through it. The internet light stays amber, and though the router recognizes it, I can not connect to the internet. My computer also doesn't seem to recognize the router at all. Installation CD will not work either.
