The router was working fine when it was setup but was disconnected for a short while. There is now no recognition of the router and the install cd was misplaced...

I am following instructions I found to set up my wirelss network, but am having trouble configuring my router. I'm specifically at a standstill, because I can't connect to http://192.168.1.1. I pinged the router and got a response and went to run/ip config to confirm I have the right URL for the router, but still not able to get to the URL.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up my E1000 router and when I run the Cisco Connect software that came with the router I get a message that says that it can't find the router, I've tried running it with my computer connected to the router and not connected. I've looked through the FAQ section and didn't really find anything. I'm trying to set it up on a laptop, it's a Vaio running Windows 7, I don't if that makes any difference.

Last December I upgraded from Home Premium to Ultimate, which may have changed my configurations though a month before I had to do a complete reinstall of the Home Premium before I acquired the upgrade. My remote computer is XP-Pro. The HP connection is wireless. There is no problem printing; but to use some features the HP on its control panel requires me to enter a proxy address. How can I configure my router settings to fully use the HP web services? At this point, the HP doesn't even update. I cannot access things like apps, ePrint and other web printing functions because of this sudden need for a proxy connection. It doesn't even show the email address for the device.

I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

For some reason got error message. tried to redo setup and got message router not recognized. used laptop and found out that wireless works fine. After few days noticed that there is a (mynetworkname) guest connection you can connect without any password. i don't need that stupid thing and my question is how to disable guest network? I cannot reach Main Menu from cd and have no idea where to look for it when i connect to router by web.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHowever, my 13" Macbook (running Lion) sometimes finds if hard to connect after I turn it on. I will have to continously turn off and on the wifi of the macbook to have it force to look at wifi networks. It will not be able to see also other wifi networks which are present in my neighbors which my windows 7 and other machines can see. After playing around with it I found that the macbook will connect to wifi only after I connect it momentarily via cable. I do this everytime I turn on my macbook.I just upgraded to a Macbook Pro running on Lion and the same thing happened. I tried the same solution of connecting first via cable but to my disappointment, would not see any wifi network including my neighbor's which again the other machines can see. So I am stuck with using cable for now.

No microwave, blue-tooth or other noise. 4 feet from the router and the signal is down to -90db. Take a few more steps away and the connection is lost.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy linksys e1000 router compares pretty well to my modem when the Ethernet cable is hooked up. I get fast DL speeds above 50Mbps either way when the Ethernet cable is plugged into my computer. However, when I connect wirelessly, regardless of range I can't seem to DL any faster than 20Mbps. I went ahead and restored my factory defaults so that I could use Cicsco Connect and upgrade the firmware, but beyond that I don't know what settings to tweak.

If I don't change it - I can not use Cisco Connect app.
If I provide my WiFi password then it changes my router admin password.
Maybe it was done to have a "simple" solution - 1 password for everything. But maybe its a bug because router admin password should be different from WiFi password fro security reasons.
I have a strange problem with my Linksys E1000. When I try to connect wireless, there is a network with an excellent signal, but it has the name "CiscoI1593" and it asks for a password which I don't know. My original network does not appear for some reason when I try to connect wirelessly. I do see my original network name when I use an ethernet cable through the E1000.
It's not possible, where I live, for this "CiscoI1593" network to belong to someone else, it just seemed like it renamed my network to this and also wants some different password.
I think this may be due to something I did. My internet occasionally cuts out and it's usually something wrong with the modem or router, so I typically unplug and press the reset button on both until it begins to work again. This is the first time i've had this problem though, and I have unplugged and pressed the reset button on my router many times.
There is also a button in the middle of the front of the router that looks like a refresh symbol, but I don't really know what it is, pushing it doesn't seem to do anything but make a solidly-on light become blinky.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been experiencing a strange, repeatable behavior with my Linksys E1000. I have several wireless and wired devices connected to my E1000:
Wired: TivoHD, Sony BluRay Player, Sony TV, Windows XP Wireless: Lenovo Laptop (Windows 7), HP Laptop (Windows 7), 3 iPods, 2 iPhones
When I try to copy large files (~ 4GB) from my (wired) Windows XP box to either of my (wireless) laptops, the Linksys drops my WiFi network -- but the wired connections continue to work (including internet access). Copying the same/similar file from a WiFi device to a wired device appears to work correctly, as does copying from WiFi to WiFi.
To be clear, my WiFi network "disappears" -- it is no longer listed as an available network (as opposed to just dropping internet connectivity for WiFi). Unplugging the router and plugging it back in brings my WiFi network back up.
I have been able to repeat this issue with multiple files over the course of several weeks, and it happens about 75% of the time (i.e., I am occassionally able to complete a file copy from wired LAN to WiFi).
A little bit of background: I resurrected an old Windows XP box and am using it for shared network storage. I copied about 400 GB of files from my laptops to the XP box (WiFi to wired) with no issues at all. Pulling the same files back from XP to my laptops (wired to WiFi) has been causing the issue described above.
I am using a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router(Model WRT54G). I am trying to set up a desktop computer to have a wireless usb adapter running so I can connect to the Wireless-G Broadband Router. When I run the setup CD for the wireless usb adapter it asks me to push the Wi-Fi Protected Setup Button on the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router.
I have looked at the Linksys router found an obscure button on the front with the Cisco Systems Copyright logo on it. I pushed this but the wireless usb adapter failed to locate the wireless network. There is also another button on the back of the Linksys Router that is a Reset button.
Currently in my office have a TPlink wireless router (WR1043N), and Dlink 615 router.Below is my office's network organization.Internet-->TPLinkRouter(192.168.2.0)-->DlinkRouter(192.168.0.0)We want to host a demo website but we are afraid our network being attacked. So we wish to implement a DMZ network to hide our internal network from outside. My question is can i setup a dmz network with the above capabilities by using home routers?

* CPU, iPhone and iPad connected to router, CPU wired connection.Everything has worked like a charm up until a couple of days ago. Now the link between the router WAN port and the modem randomly drops. Stays dropped for 1-3 secs and then connect again. When its really bad this happens with 5-10 secs intervall. This made it impossible to use the network from any of the devices.If I disconnect the CPU from the router and connect it direcly to the modem and change the IP settings to match the modem network the CPU connects without errors to the internet, iPad and iPhone connected to the router keeps having problems.Restarting the router does not change anything and it seems to be more frequent errors during heavy load hours, in the morning I have almost no problems at all, in the evenings I cant almost use the wireless devices (CPU works fine as its now connected directly to the modem not through the router).I havent changed a setting in the last year, it just came right out of the blue.I have hard reset both the modem and the router and reconfigured them (that I dont want to do again as I have some virtual servers, port forwards, port triggers and so on :P).As it came right out of the blue without me changing anything on any device and as it seems to be more frequent during heavy load hours I'm suspecting that the ISP is involved, but how can they be (it works fine with devices connected straight to the modem)?
Router is Airport. Interference to all am radios (in both cars, transister radio, and plugged in clock radios) within 10 m radius of our house. Have had router for two years, but problem started suddenly last Sunday morning. Figured it was the router by turning it off (no interference) then on again (interference returned).

I got trouble with this router now.All the computers at my home couldn't access to this router even just connect to router's setup page at 192.168.1.1. The only way go to setup page through LAN Cable .I'm afraid maybe there's interference channel with my neighbor, then I did some change to router channel already, but the result same. I still couldn't access to the router through WIFI
