View 7 Replies View RelatedThe 740N I got is pretty old now so I have another router and I want to use 740N as a bridge to extend my main router's wireless service. The main router has Mac Filtering enabled and I've entered the 740N's Mac address into the main router. I have switched off 740N's DHCP, changed it's IP etc. I can connect to 740N but 740N is not connecting to the main router. I've tried the same thing at my office where the main router is a 8961ND and I successfully bridged and connected the 740N but it's not working at my home.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAt the moment the Wireless Router is located in my bedroom which is 12 meters from the living room where the phone line is. I basically have one phone line extension from the telephone line to my bedroom where I've plugged in the ADSL filter. The modem part plugs into the actual router and the telephone line is then extended back to the living room with a second extension cable. This is because my PC is in my bedroom. Problem with this is the fact that there are extension cables get in the way when moving furniture around and also hang from the ceiling in the corridor. What I'd like to do is have a WiFi dongle for my PC and move the router to the living room. Now my second problem is that my phone gets a very weak WiFi signal once you go to the living room so I imagine if I moved the router to there then I would barely get a signal in my bedroom. I have two options to solve this:
(1) Use a WiFi extender in between my room and the router and then a dongle for my computer
(2) Upgrade my current G router to an N router. Problem is I'm not too sure the signal will reach my room. There's a 12 meter range from the living room to my bedroom btw.url...
I just connect my new EA 6500 router and I am trying to connect my Belkin F9K1106 Range extender to the 5Ghz and it keeps saying the password is incorrect. I am able to connect to the router using 2.4Ghz with the same password. I have updated the extender's firmware to 1.00.16 and it didn't work.

* WiFi router (Netgear WPN824v2) connected to ADSL modem
* CPU, iPhone and iPad connected to router, CPU wired connection.Everything has worked like a charm up until a couple of days ago. Now the link between the router WAN port and the modem randomly drops. Stays dropped for 1-3 secs and then connect again. When its really bad this happens with 5-10 secs intervall. This made it impossible to use the network from any of the devices. If I disconnect the CPU from the router and connect it direcly to the modem and change the IP settings to match the modem network the CPU connects without errors to the internet, iPad and iPhone connected to the router keeps having problems.Restarting the router does not change anything and it seems to be more frequent errors during heavy load hours, in the morning I have almost no problems at all, in the evenings I cant almost use the wireless devices (CPU works fine as its now connected directly to the modem not through the router).I havent changed a setting in the last year, it just came right out of the blue.I have hard reset both the modem and the router and reconfigured them (that I dont want to do again as I have some virtual servers, port forwards, port triggers and so on :P).As it came right out of the blue without me changing anything on any device and as it seems to be more frequent during heavy load hours I'm suspecting that the ISP is involved, but how can they be (it works fine with devices connected straight to the modem)?
The router was working fine when it was setup but was disconnected for a short while. There is now no recognition of the router and the install cd was misplaced...

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy objective is to use the USB port on the E1550 to share an external hard drive for my family's shared media files.I have moved into a rental home with little cat5 wiring. Internet service is Uverse.Given the wiring situation, I bought a netgear universal dual band range extender which connects wirelessly to the uverse router in another room. My home office equipment (computer, printer) are wired into the netgear. All of that works fine. The netgear is 192.168.1.66. The computer is 192.168.1.128. So, I wanted to add the E1550 into my network. I can see it as an attached device on the Netgear's admin page, but cisco connect and a direct ip http://192.168.1.68 does not resolve. I have the e1550 connected via a lan port on the netgear extender (there is no other option). I have gone from that lan port to the internet port on the e1550. I have done so with a staight Cat5 cable and with what I believe should be a cross-over. In both situations, I see the router via the netgear admin page but can not connect to it. I'd prefer not the hang my usb drive off of my computer because it if gets turned off or reboots due to a MS Windows auto update, it leaves the rest of the house with no shared media during that process.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a network where I have two wireless routers wired to a third (main) router. I want to connect a third wireless (Linksys WRT 54GL) to the main router, but I want to connect wirelessly (without any cables). I have tried to bridge it,ie disabling DHCP and assigning a static IP address which is in the same range as the main router but still if i connect my laptop using the third router I cant log onto the internet and worst still I cant ping the main router. The main router is the one that is connected to the proxy server. My connections are as follows, from the wireless antenna the cable goes to the proxy server's wan port, the main wireless router is linked to the server's lan port.My server's LAN ip is 192.168.0.1 and the main wireless router is 192.168.0.2 I have two other routers which are wired to this main wireless router and their local IP addresses are 192.168.0.4 and 192.168.0.5 respectively. I want to connect a third wireless router to the main router but this time without using a cable. What i have done so far is I have assigned it the IP address 192.168.0.6 and I have disabled DHCP,all the other settings I have put the same as the main wireless router.
