I am using 3G to access the internet on my PC. I have a 3G modem connected, and want to setup my Linksys WRT54GL router to enable wi-fi, so other devices can access the internet as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have wrt54gl setup with dd-wrt standard version running hotspotsystem. 3 wrt54g version 5 with dd-wrt micro setup as WDS client of wrt54gl. After the intial setup I can log into the main router wrt54gl (192.168.1.1)and all 3 WDS routers (192.168.1.2 ,3 and 4), but after couple of days of testing suddenly i can not login to 2 of the WDS routers,
I mean I can connect to it and it will get me to internet but I can no longer login, it just says the page take too long to load. I know if I do a hard reset and setup WDS again then it will work, but I dont want to keep doing that. Tried to power cycle the router but still wont work. Is it the load on the router made it inaccessible ?
I have a Linksys WRT54GL version 1.1. The firmware is 4.30.11 (European version).In the Basic Wireless Settings I can't change the Wireless Channel. It remains at channel 1, and I simply can't alter it.This is strange, because in earlier firmware versions, I was able to change the channel without any problems at all. I would like to continue to use this firmware version. How can I solve this problem?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup a DVR camera system and two web page server boxes behind a Linksys WRT54GL. The problem I have is that all of the devices want to use port 80 to generate the web page. Individually, I can get the boxes to work, but when I try to put it all together everything seems to fall apart. I've got to the DVR set to External port 80, Internal Port 80 IP address 192.168.1.254. The web page server box I try to set to External port 8001, Internal port 80, IP address 192.168.1.200, when I try to save this setting I get the error message Internet IP address and LAN IP address are in the same subnet. If I change the web page server settings to External port 8001, Internal port 8001, IP address 192.168.1.200, it will save the settings, but it won't work that way because it won't actually generate a web page when I try to access that port.The error message doesn't seem to make since as all I'm changing is the port number, not the IP address or subnet mask.
View 9 Replies View Relatedam having speed issues on the wireless side of my WRT54GL v1.1 router.When I hook up a laptop to the wired port, am getting roughly 5.4mps down when wired, but only 1.2mpbs down on wireless. I am tried doing a factory restore. I have made sure that no QoS is in place. I have tried multiple devices to make sure it is not something on the device side causing this problem, but all the devices perform just as poorly on wireless but as well on wired.

I would like to connect the WRT54GL to the physical network and have it create a separate wifi network (WIFI2), so my laptop will connect to WIFI2, get passed to the LAN and on to the Internet. Cant make this work - tried setting up the WRT for DHCP server, DHCP pass through (to the comtrend), and the best I can do is get connected to WIFI2 and have access to the LAN but not the Internet. Ultimately I want to put a high gain antenna on the WRT to make it reach another building about 400' away and do away with comtrends horrible WIFI, but I cant get to first base.

Is this a setting where the cable connected pc gets preference that I could switch off?

I upgraded my Internet speed with my ISP to 60Mbit/s and I get following download results at speedtest.net:Is there a way to speed up my wireless connection with this router? On the sticker it says 54Mbps, so I would guess it should be possible.
I own an AG214 ADSL2 router that I use for my desktop PC. I now however also have a WRT54GL for wireless connection. I connected the WRT54GL to my AG214 via ethernet. Everything works fine, I have wifi and I can use it to connect to the internet. However when I go to my router (192.168.x.x) I can't seem to be able to find a wireless tab to configure my wifi settings. The network right now is unsecure and has a default name (linksys). How do I access my wireless settings? When I access my router it does go to the AG214, do I need to access the WRT54GL? If so, how do I do that?

View 2 Replies View Relatedsetting up my new WRT54GL.this is my first encounter with a wireless router, though I've had 3 previous Linksys (hardwired) routers.I have to say, given that they give virtually no Mac support, it was a breeze….just plugged it in to my cable modem and my laptop and - boom - on the net on my first try!I'm able to access the router via it's web-based system and can now "tweak" with settings, but I'm running in to a lot of "tweakable" settings that I'm not familiar with.
First my setup. I have; (a.) 3 desktop Macs and a Samsung TV hardwired to the four Ethernet ports and (b.) my Mac laptop accessing the router via Airport Extreme wifi. All are happily accessing the web.But I realize that the reason that "(b.)" is accessing the web is that I've changed no default settings in the router and, not only can *I* access the router via wifi, but probably anyone driving down the road or sitting out in front of my house can access the web via my wifi. And I'd like to change that.I'm *guessing* that the router settings i need to change lie in the "Wireless Security" area of the router? And it's here that I'm running in to a lot of "tweakable" settings that I don't understand.But let me give an example of what I would *like* to accomplish.
Let's say that there are 3 different laptops…."A", "B" and "C". All 3 are Macs and running Airport Extreme.Now, "A" is my laptop, sitting here on my desk next to the router. As i leave Airport always turned on, I want "A" to *always* have access to the routers wifi *without* having to enter a username/password, i.e. when i turn "A" on, it's wired.Now "B" might be the laptop of a friend who happens by the house and need access. They would need to find my network on their laptop and then i would need to give them a password to let them get on .And finally, "C" is the guy I don't know out in the street whom I want to *never* have access to my network.So my question then is, can I accomplish this by changing settings in "Wireless Security" on my router and how/what would I change?
I have been trying to enable the Smart WiFi account for my EA6500 router. I have gone online and established a Smart WiFi account but am unable to associate my EA6500 with the account. I got trouble with this router now.All the computers at my home couldn't access to this router even just connect to router's setup page at 192.168.1.1. The only way go to setup page through LAN Cable .I'm afraid maybe there's interference channel with my neighbor, then I did some change to router channel already, but the result same. I still couldn't access to the router through WIFI
Fyi, I did upgrade the firmware with the latest one and all the computers distance to the router not more then 5 m and in the clear area

View 5 Replies View RelatedTrying to setup a repeater down stairs for better wifi signal but am running into a problem. The main router I use for my network is a Linksys WRT54GL. The router I'm trying to hook up as a repeater is a Asus RT-N10+. The issue I'm running into is that they both use the same IP address for the web gui so when I try to configure the Asus it goes straight to my Linksys instead.
I tried to disconnect the Linksys in order to get the Asus going in repeater mode but didn't work. What I'm wanting to do is change the router IP address on the Asus so I can have both of them online at the same time to get the Asus going as a repeater. I tried to change the Asus IP but when I did it asked me something along the lines of whether I wanted to change the DHCP address being it didn't match what I had typed in as the router IP.
i have a Linksys modem BEFSR81 v.3 and am trying to reset my wifi password for secure connection. When i log into the the admin page, to my surprise, I could not find the security feature to create WPA or WEP password. i'm stumped. This has never occurred to me before on this modem.

When I am connected to the router via a cable I can play an online RPG without any problems.I recently connected an acecss point to the router ( a belkin N1 ). Even if I am connected with a cable to the accesspoint, which is connected to the router by cable as well, I get huge lag spikes about every 10 seconds while playing the game.

Everything was working fine.I had configured the AAA server on CoovaAP and was able to access the internet.I had configured the user name and password as a "testuser" and "password" respectively. With that user id i used to access the Coova AP router and internet. Now i want restore the WRT54GL firmware on Lynksys router. But with the used id and password which i had configured the router is not at all accessible. So i did 30-30-30 reset on the router 2-3 times.
Now i can see openwrt login page with 192.168.1.1 IP address. It is asking for user id and password. I tried all the combinations of user id and password, but no luck. I browsed some link on the internet and some people have recommended that default user id as a "root" and blank password. But with that also the router is not accessible. I cant to do much on the router untill i will log in to router. I have spent lot of time on this.

I have both a Sony XBR52HX909 and a Sony BDP-S580 connected to my router (WRT54GL)via ethernet. When I try to connect to the internet, both show the wired connection as good but neither can connect to the internet. The BDP-S580 also has wireless connectivity, but it can’t connect to the internet wirelessly. I have two desktop computers connected via ethernet and two laptops connected wirelessly to the same router and all have internet connectivity. I have tried the “auto” settings on the TV and Blu-Ray player and also tried entering the network information in manually. I still can’t connect to the internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use a WRT54GL with U-Verse. The problem is that the router does not get a connection to the modem. It can't ping the modem, and it doesn't show up on on the list of devices connected to the modem. DHCP assigns an IP address of 127.0.0.1, which is outside the range of the modem [192.168.1.1 ... 192.168.1.253]. The router is also showing a default gateway of 0.0.0.0, and a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0. (And yes, I have released and renewed the lease, rebooted the modem, and reconnected the modem.) The router WAN side is set to DHCP, and the operating mode was changed from gateway to router (the gateway setting doesn't work either, for that matter).
