Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54gl And Wrt54g Setup WDS But Can't Login
Jul 18, 2011I have wrt54gl setup with dd-wrt standard version running hotspotsystem. 3 wrt54g version 5 with dd-wrt micro setup as WDS client of wrt54gl. After the intial setup I can log into the main router wrt54gl (192.168.1.1)and all 3 WDS routers (192.168.1.2 ,3 and 4), but after couple of days of testing suddenly i can not login to 2 of the WDS routers,
I mean I can connect to it and it will get me to internet but I can no longer login, it just says the page take too long to load. I know if I do a hard reset and setup WDS again then it will work, but I dont want to keep doing that. Tried to power cycle the router but still wont work. Is it the load on the router made it inaccessible ?

Mar 29, 2008I have a Linksys WRT54GL version 1.1. The firmware is 4.30.11 (European version).In the Basic Wireless Settings I can't change the Wireless Channel. It remains at channel 1, and I simply can't alter it.This is strange, because in earlier firmware versions, I was able to change the channel without any problems at all. I would like to continue to use this firmware version. How can I solve this problem?

Apr 6, 2010I'm trying to setup a DVR camera system and two web page server boxes behind a Linksys WRT54GL. The problem I have is that all of the devices want to use port 80 to generate the web page. Individually, I can get the boxes to work, but when I try to put it all together everything seems to fall apart. I've got to the DVR set to External port 80, Internal Port 80 IP address 192.168.1.254. The web page server box I try to set to External port 8001, Internal port 80, IP address 192.168.1.200, when I try to save this setting I get the error message Internet IP address and LAN IP address are in the same subnet. If I change the web page server settings to External port 8001, Internal port 8001, IP address 192.168.1.200, it will save the settings, but it won't work that way because it won't actually generate a web page when I try to access that port.The error message doesn't seem to make since as all I'm changing is the port number, not the IP address or subnet mask.

Just my luck, my hard drive took a giant dump and the restore did not restore 100% and guess which file was among the missing?So I've followed about 15 different "reset" instructions which includes holding the reset button for 10-60 seconds; unplugging the router afterwards for anywhere from immediate to 60 seconds. Obviously, none of those sets of "sage" advice had any influence whatsoever on my router. My "server" is of my own creation:

Feb 12, 2012I'm trying to set up my WRT54G wireless router so.i can port forward the relevant ports for my programs. I understand that you have to set up a static ip address before you can do a port forward which makes sense as you do not want to keep changing the ip address for the forwarding settings every time your network refreshes. But I cant seem to have it set up. And is there a rule that the static ip that you set should not be within the dhcp range?After setting up the static ip and setting up the port forward settings how do I test if the port is being forwarded correctly?

Jan 19, 2013I have a WRT54G router that I have not used for many years, but now I need to use it again. I have connected it between my modem and PC, and I am able to get an internet connection on the PC, but I am unable to connect to the router's configuration page. I have tried resetting the router numerous times (holding the reset button 5 seconds, 10 seconds, even longer) to reset the IP address to the default 192.168.1.1 address, but still cannot access the page. The power LED is on and the WLAN and Internet LEDs are on, and the LED for the port my PC is connected to is on. The hardware version of the router is v3. I tried downloading the latest firmware, but without being anble to communicate with the router at the IP address I cannot update the firmware. How can I go about connectiong to the router's setup page? When using ipconfig, the Default Gateway appears to still point to my ISP's IP address instead of the router's.

Apr 27, 2012When I had DSL, my WRT54G was my DHCP master for my home network. When I got AT&T U-Verse, their "gateway" became the DHCP master and also the wireless access point. But the signal was not strong enough where I wanted to use it, so I hooked up the WRT54G again. I discovered that if I connected the U-Verse gateway to the "Internet" port on the WRT54G Linksys, then my home network was split in two, which I did not want. The WRT54G access point is physically somewhat distant from my wired computer, so I wanted to keep the U-Verse gateway as the DHCP master. (The U-Verse gateway is a router with four "computer" ports but no "Internet" port.)
I followed instructions on the Linksys web site, and using my wi-fi connected computer I re-programmed the WRT54G to be "Disabled" as a DHCP server. Then I powered down and physically connected the U-Verse gateway to a "Computer" port on the WRT54G. This solved my problem: my distant wi-fi computer now has a good signal, and both computers "see" each other.
However, now I seem to have lost access to the WRT54G setup "web page." Is it possible to access the innards of the WRT54G when its DHCP service is disabled? Or would I have to reset the device to factory configuration and start all over if I wanted to make any tweaks?

Apr 27, 2007When I go to the router setup screen via 192.168.1.1 the screen does not load properly in MSIE or Firefox. Text does not load.The graphics load okay, and the dropdown boxes, checkboxes, etc. Since many of the links are from text, and all of the descriptions, it is impossible to navigate properly. I managed only by using Firefox's Page Info, Links tab and cutting & pasting. A couple of screen captures are available [URL] have downloaded the latest firmware, but while I can get to the Administration page, much less click on, the Upgrade Firmware sub-tab.

Jan 14, 2008I have been trying to change my password and all the settings on my WRT54G V8 router today because I forgot the password, and I can't seem to navigate the Basic Setup page. I can log in (most of the time) after resetting the router, but whenever I try to click on a different tab (like "Wireless", or "Security") it comes up with the page saying "This Page Cannot Be Displayed." I'd like to be able to put a password on it (which I have successfully done before on this router) because I live in a college dorm and would like to keep my internet from being bogged down by other people using it.

Aug 5, 2011I am finally duffing my WRT 610N (N=Never consistent in performance) main router and WRT54G that I am using up in my shop as an expander. Now I am going to a E4200 Main Router and E3000 for my secondary router (Truthfully a dual band expander).
Am I going to just simply Flash my 610 to default , disconnect it and pack it away , Setup my new E4200 , Plug in my E3000 into port 1 and go about giving it a separate IP Addy? Or can I expect a **bleep**? Any setup tips?
Wirelessly I am running 2 laptops , a PS3 , Xbox 360 , Epson printer , a picture frame and Samsung Blue Ray and TV, and on occasion 2 android phones. On the Wired side (Ethernet) I have a Sling Box , a Desktop , and the router up in the shop. This is the normal load and never everything all at once (Although it has been done).

May 2, 2012I have both a Sony XBR52HX909 and a Sony BDP-S580 connected to my router (WRT54GL)via ethernet. When I try to connect to the internet, both show the wired connection as good but neither can connect to the internet. The BDP-S580 also has wireless connectivity, but it can’t connect to the internet wirelessly. I have two desktop computers connected via ethernet and two laptops connected wirelessly to the same router and all have internet connectivity. I have tried the “auto” settings on the TV and Blu-Ray player and also tried entering the network information in manually. I still can’t connect to the internet.
