Sep 27, 2010When the Wrt600N came out, it was said that the "Reserved" button would be enabled by a future firmware upgrade to support WiFi Protected Setup. Surely in the three or so years this has come to pass.Does anyone have a link to information on using WPS with the WRT600n?

Apr 10, 2012I am using a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router(Model WRT54G). I am trying to set up a desktop computer to have a wireless usb adapter running so I can connect to the Wireless-G Broadband Router. When I run the setup CD for the wireless usb adapter it asks me to push the Wi-Fi Protected Setup Button on the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router.
I have looked at the Linksys router found an obscure button on the front with the Cisco Systems Copyright logo on it. I pushed this but the wireless usb adapter failed to locate the wireless network. There is also another button on the back of the Linksys Router that is a Reset button.
Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Guest Portal Displays As Not Being Password Protected
Jan 6, 2012My E4200 settings show both the 5.8GHZ and 2.4GHZ channels to be active, with SSID's displayed. However, when I look for available networks via my laptop(s)/tablets, etc, only the 2.8GHZ channel is visible. I've tried changing various settings and even updated the firmware but nothing has changed.
In addition my "guest" portal displays as not being password protected, even though it is setup for password protection in the E4200 menu.I've rebooted the router several times, but nothing has changed. The 5.8GHZ channel is not visible.The router is also performing frequent random disconnects, but that appears to be a separate issue, based on other posts.

Dec 3, 2011Have been trying for the past two days to install a new E4200. It gets to 25% in the setup and then errors out and says I need to contact customer service.
Connecting through a brand new DSL modem that I know works as I can get access through my old router.
My PC (Windows 7) is directly connected to the router. I got to the point where I named the router in the install process the first time, but then it hung.
Have tried to use the CD to re-setup with no success. I've tried the hard reset holding in the button for 10 seconds and unplugging but nothing has changed.

Jun 11, 2012Our internet provider has no intention of providing a IPv6 DNS so I have a crippled at best service. We live in an area where our only option is through satellite service, so changing providers in not in the cards, yet.
If I "Disable" the DHCP Sever, the setup menu provides a method for me to force feed up to three Static DNS addresses, all with IPv4 addresses.
There are several locations that provide "free" DNS service, but how does one verify the security of such sites? Does Cisco keep track of the status of this kind of service or am I on my own? Cisco seems to endorse two DDNS services, but for home use, the extra charges seem otherwise unnecessary, and do not yet address the IPv6 question.
The first few that I have investigated that do provide IPv6 service also provide their addresses in IPv6 format. The E4200 menu does not seem to allow me to do that.
Am I going to be forced to live with crippled IPv6? I have already discovered a software product that has failed since changing routers, but works if I take my laptop to a particular WiFi location.

Am I going to just simply Flash my 610 to default , disconnect it and pack it away , Setup my new E4200 , Plug in my E3000 into port 1 and go about giving it a separate IP Addy? Or can I expect a **bleep**? Any setup tips?
Wirelessly I am running 2 laptops , a PS3 , Xbox 360 , Epson printer , a picture frame and Samsung Blue Ray and TV, and on occasion 2 android phones. On the Wired side (Ethernet) I have a Sling Box , a Desktop , and the router up in the shop. This is the normal load and never everything all at once (Although it has been done).

Dec 7, 2011It would be nice if there was a "Note" field next to each MAC field whereby you could specify what device the MAC belongs to. I have quite a few listed but recently I've gotten rid of the devices. I have to go through all my current devices, not them in another program, and then remove the ones that are no longer needed.
The Wireless Client List doesn't capture all the names so that's not what I'm looking for.
Also, it would be great if the "Note" would tie into the Parental Controls so that I know exactly what device I'm choosing. It currently lets you select from the Wireless Client List, but the list doesn't have all the Client Names populated.
So, one, is this feature available (or something similar) and two, if not, please take this into consideration as a useful feature for a new version down the road.

Works pretty well now, but did some google searching and it seems i could make my original e4200 into a bridge, would this be the way to go for max wifi? I could run a cat 6 cable upstairs along the outside of the home fairly easily.

Aug 26, 2012well, i just bought an E4200 and, by the way, was very hard to configurate. But the real problem is: if there is a power loss, both modem and e4200 lights up, but no internet connection is provided.Even the SSID desappear. I trried to disconnected everything, reconnect by parts, but no success.I wired connect the E4200 to my iMac and the router was ok, configurated.Then, i reconnect to the modem and all worked ok.Now im testing possibilities and is i reboot the router, the net desappear and i have to try possibilities till it works.
My older router connected automatically, without a problem, but i decide to buy "the best" brand and its top product". Now im disappointed..
Twice i realize that if the connections drops out, i have to disconnect and reconnect the internet cable from my E4200...
