I am trying to setup my Internet connection on my linksys E1200 router using static IP settings below -I am getting following error when trying to do this. These are the IP settings provided to me and are configured on my laptop to connect to my ISP as well.
View 6 RepliesI had recently purchased the E1200 router. For some reason, my internet keeps going in and out of service. I will be playing an online game but get disconnected from the server every 6-8 seconds. I tested if it could be my internet provider, but when I connect via Ethernet cord to my modem, it works great. If I run the Ethernet through my router or try wireless connections, it tends to go in and out. It only seems to do this some of the times.

But in the new apartment the internet is working fine when I plug it in the computer directly, but when I plug it in the router (E1200) it says there's no Internet connection. No WIRED internet and No WIRELESS Internet. I don't get it. The same router I took it back to our original apartment and works fine when I hook up the same ethernet cable to the LAN.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently was able to obtain my son's Nintendo 3DS from him and now I can't figure out how to get on the internet browser with it!When I open up the internet on his 3DS and when I try to access anything it says communication error even though I have a full signal. It also says that the "error code is: 012-1018 Connection to proxy server failed. Please check that your proxy server settings are correct." I have went in and tried to change the proxy server settings and if I do I lose the internet connection despite the fact that the correct information is set in place. I even tried to reset the router (as my son did before) but I can't access it, even though he was able to!! I have done research on the Nintendo web site and everything that it says to do I have done and it shows that I have a full signal but after that no luck.

I called Comcast to see what can i do. They said its problems with the router. I enter the right numbers for PS3 in the Single Port Forwarding and Port Range Forwarding. I turn on DMZ and entered the same IP Address as it is on my PS3 I dont have a problem with Resetting the whole Router and starting from scratch ?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an E1200 to replace a broken router. I have had good experiences with this model in the past which is why I bought it. However this has not been so pleasant. For some reason the internet connection over wifi is INCREDIBLY slow. I don't know why. It is fast when connected via ethernet to the router. I changed the MTU on the router to 1400, I set the wireless width to 20MHz and the channel to 11. I set security to WPA2. And yet it is still very very slow. It's not a matter of how many users are on the network; I live in a house with five other people and it's slow regardless of whether everybody's home or nobody is home. It's like this on Macs, PCs, phones and even the Xbox 360. I just did a speed test. Wired was about 14MBps down, wireless was around .7MBps down. I simply cannot comprehend this discrepancy. The old router was very unreliable in terms of connectivity but at least it was always fast. And my laptop is fast at my mom's house where she has an E1200. I use a MacBook Pro from 2009 but like I said,this seems to be affecting everybody in the house regardless of hardware.The modem is a Ubee modem from Comcast. I'd upgrade it to a SURFBoard but my landlord controls all the utilities and I'd rather not have to explain to him how to call Comcast and tell them to register the modem's serial number to the account or whatever.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my WRT54GL for a few months now and have two computers that are wired and 3 that are wireless. I started having problems with conflicting IP's a couple days ago on one of my wired computers which was set for auto DHCP so I changed the settings and made it a static IP, this is when the problem started. I have Network Magic on all computers and even though it says I'm connected to the internet and the network, I am not able to get online. My other wired computer has been on Static IP for months and works fine.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to the EA4500 and the only issue I'm having is that it will not recognize my static DNS settings, which worked fine on my older E2000. No other hardware has changed except the router.I've tried both Google DNS and OpenDNS. In either case, the DNS settings can be entered and saved in the Basic Settings tab, but when I go to the admin tab, it shows my ISP's deafult DNS.

BUT no matter how I've fiddled with the wireless settings I cannot get any of the laptops or mobile phones to connect wireless to the network.The Windows software on the laptops 'finds' the router OK but for some reason the router seems unwilling to supply an IP address.I've checked ALL of the settings that I can think of, and all are correct ... well, all are exactly the same as my old router which worked perfectly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed an IP camera, and had to change my E1000 router settings to a static IP address. Now I can't access the router settings. 192.168.1.1 is still the default gateway, but it won't open in any browser.
I'm reluctant to do a reset because it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the IP camera and port forwarding working (it does!), and I'd hate to do it all again and come to the same place. I'm not very good at this stuff, and it's a small miracle that I did it once.
Is there an alternate way to get the DNS settings off of the router? I've followed all of the steps up above, but I cannot set up a static IP Address on my computer without knowing the routers DNS settings, which I cannot retrieve from the web-based setup due to the corrupt firmware.

When some one at home using internet I can commetc to the router using remote management. But when everybody out and no internet users at home I cannot connect to the router. I checked with other router from linksys (old one WAG45G or something like this) and it was the same. But it works great whith TP-Link routers.

Everything works just fine, but when I try to copy files from one wired computer(both Windows 7) to another one on the same router(the E1200 in this case), the network utilization is only about 4%. If I take one of the computers off its wired connection and make it wireless, the utilization goes up to about 50%. Also if I take one of the compuyters off this router, and make a wired connection to my main router(which is connected via a wired connection to the E1200), the network utilization goes up to 50%.

I've been reading where people's wireless is really slow, but mine is the opposite. I'm getting around .5 mbps download wired, but around 25 mbps download when its connected wirelessly. Is there anything i can do make the ethernet faster or is the router faulty?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHaving several issues w my E1200. For quite some time I have had intermittent loss of internet connection. This was somewhat true even before I got a wifi router. & it has continued. Recently it has been even worse & I'm not sure if it is my isp, my cable modem or the router. ISP came out & checked & said signals looked ok, although modem is old.Now i find out that the version of Cisco Connect that i had been using is incompatible w Mountain Lion so it won't work now. & newly downloaded dmg files say they are damaged (or that app has been modified or damaged--I'm not in a position to tell which but same results after I downloaded a 2nd time).
I have been having more frequent loss of internet connection at home. & when I click on the wifi icon to check, it shows it looking for networks. Also it has not been uncommon to see that it has switched to my guest network.Why would it switch to my guest network? What is the difference between the 2 besides the fact that I guess the guest network doesn't have access to everything on my regular network (which right now is only my iPhone, but may get wireless printer).Also when it shows the lists of networks that it "sees" my guest network does not show a padlock icon so what does that mean? It does have the default password.
Also because I had no idea that Cisco Connect was not compatible w Mountain Lion I didn't even think to check for upgrades before I upgraded to Mountain Lion & now I can't open Cisco Connect. Shows unsupoprted OS. & I'm also stalled trying to update the firmware for the router.I'm really beginning to see why it was cheaper than an Apple Airport Express. Even at a very low hourly rate, the lost time spent when this has not been working right has not been worth what I saved on the purchase price.
since last nite my router E1200 has been having speed up and down problems.first it goes to 150mb/s then back down to 1 for a few minutes, usualy its stuck at 72mb/s which is a far cry from its rated 300mbps but qi'd rahter have that than 1-2mbps.i'd be happy with 150mbps but that only lasts 5mins then goes down to 1-2mbps and i have to reset my connection.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have E1200 wireless router and it was working nicely for the whole last year with 2 mac laptops hooked up on it. About 2 months ago there were 1 mac,1 win laptop and a network printer. And again, it was working just fine at the beginning. I'm not sure when exactly it happened first, but now after working couple of hours internet gets off and router stops responding. If I try to reconnect to it from my laptop I just see an error message saying something about "Connection timeout". Also I don't know does it have something to do with the network printer, btw it's connected to the router via ethernet cable not wireless. Anyway, the only solution I've found so far is power off the router for a couple of secs and power it on again, which is obviously not a solution at all, it's annoying and not practical. The time it works fine before it dies is also not fixed, it might be even 10 hrs of working and sometimes only 1-2 hrs. My other suspicion is firmware. I upgraded it almost at the same time when new laptop and printer showed up. Maybe I have to downgrade it, but I couldn't find older version of it. It was HW v. 1, SW v.1.0.00, and now it's HW v.1, SW v.1.0.03.

Did exactly as instructed.'Modem, connected to a PC directly give internet no problem.Modem, connected to the router, and router connected to PC - no internet.And... I think I know what happened, but I don’t know how to fix it. A connect / disconnect key on my keyboard is located right next to the mute sound key. I wanted to mute my sound, and when it didn’t mute I pressed the key a couple more times before I realized I was pressing the wrong key. So I’m guessing I probably messed up some settings. But I don’t know if on the computer, router, or both. Per the documentation I thought I might be able to fix it with Cisco Connect, but it wasn’t installed on my computer. There were only 3 Cisco modules installed.. EAP-FAST module, LEAP module, and PEAP module. I managed to find Cisco Connect on the website and downloaded it, but still couldn’t fix the problem.

I currently have a Linksys E1200 router and I am getting anywhere from .3-.5 of a megabit per second download speed while upload speed ranges from 2-5 Mbps. This is very strange to me as I have never seen a connection this slow or one that had a higher upload speed than download speed.
