I have E1200 router and I have a problem with setup my ISP Connection. The ISP requires PPPOE connection but with static IP Address but in E1200 I didn't find any option for that. The possible ways are PPPOE or Static IP Address.
View 1 RepliesI have been attempting to set up a linksys wireless-n e1200 router on my hp p6-2007c (Windows 7 SP1, 64-bit) desktop pc for the last day and have exhausted everything i can think of. The previous router was a linksys WRT54G and it worked fine. However, upon setting up this new router i get a "no internet access" message accompanied by the little yellow triangle and the ability to still connect to my router via its ip address to alter its configuration. The connection status for the network and the internet is identical for all the laptops in my house. I originally attempted setting up the router using Cisco's setup program. At its conclusion, the setup program informs me that i am connected to the router, but my internet connection has been lost (even though it was never there) I have tried starting over from scratch by resetting the router back to its default settings and using a variety of different channels (Auto, 1, 6, and 11), frequencies, etc. I have uninstalled norton antivirus, disarmed the windows security programs, made sure of TCP/IP settings, rolled back, uninstalled, and finally updated firmware, uninstalled/reinstalled driver for wireless card, disabled/enabled the card itself, deleted all other previous network profiles still present in the "Manage Wireless Networks" screen, and probably some other suggestions i came across in this forum. They all failed with the same results, i.e. the ability to connect to the network locally and having no internet access.

i setup security dvrs on the internet so clients can see cameras from outside their homes. I would like to be able to login to a router if i need to foward a port or something similar.
I'm able to connect to the internet through my E1200 router but I cannot access the router set up page. 192.168.1.1 doesn't work... I can connect to it just fine with my laptop however... so I changed it to 192.168.254.1 as per some internet instructions. Still can't connect via my desktop... Tried ipconfig /flushdns to no avail. Cleared the internet cache Upgraded the firmware (via the laptop) rebooted the computer rebooted the router... reset the router... After rebooting the router I can type in the username and password to access the router, but it never connects....

I go to the "Wireless MAC Filter" page and enable MAC filtering.When I click the “wireless client list” button, a new window opens saying “IE cannot display the webpage”. This always happens when I have a wireless connection active.When there are no active connections, then IE properly displays the MAC address table, but it is empty since there aren't any computers connected to the router.

In next program that just keeps trying to auto repair the connection and never displays any radio button option the direction state like "advanced settings".At the very least your PDF should match your user friendly **bleep** ware!The instructions even refer to itself wrong! It states "for manual set up go use browser connection section" then in that section it describes an auto set up and instructs you to follow the set up steps on the CD.

When some one at home using internet I can commetc to the router using remote management. But when everybody out and no internet users at home I cannot connect to the router. I checked with other router from linksys (old one WAG45G or something like this) and it was the same. But it works great whith TP-Link routers.

I will be playing an online game but get disconnected from the server every 6-8 seconds. I tested if it could be my internet provider, but when I connect via Ethernet cord to my modem, it works great. If I run the Ethernet through my router or try wireless connections, it tends to go in and out. It only seems to do this some of the times.

But in the new apartment the internet is working fine when I plug it in the computer directly, but when I plug it in the router (E1200) it says there's no Internet connection. No WIRED internet and No WIRELESS Internet. I don't get it. The same router I took it back to our original apartment and works fine when I hook up the same ethernet cable to the LAN.

Everything works just fine, but when I try to copy files from one wired computer(both Windows 7) to another one on the same router(the E1200 in this case), the network utilization is only about 4%. If I take one of the computers off its wired connection and make it wireless, the utilization goes up to about 50%. Also if I take one of the compuyters off this router, and make a wired connection to my main router(which is connected via a wired connection to the E1200), the network utilization goes up to 50%.

This was somewhat true even before I got a wifi router. & it has continued. Recently it has been even worse & I'm not sure if it is my isp, my cable modem or the router. ISP came out & checked & said signals looked ok, although modem is old.Now i find out that the version of Cisco Connect that i had been using is incompatible w Mountain Lion so it won't work now. & newly downloaded dmg files say they are damaged (or that app has been modified or damaged--I'm not in a position to tell which but same results after I downloaded a 2nd time).
I have been having more frequent loss of internet connection at home. & when I click on the wifi icon to check, it shows it looking for networks. Also it has not been uncommon to see that it has switched to my guest network.Why would it switch to my guest network? What is the difference between the 2 besides the fact that I guess the guest network doesn't have access to everything on my regular network (which right now is only my iPhone, but may get wireless printer).Also when it shows the lists of networks that it "sees" my guest network does not show a padlock icon so what does that mean? It does have the default password.
Also because I had no idea that Cisco Connect was not compatible w Mountain Lion I didn't even think to check for upgrades before I upgraded to Mountain Lion & now I can't open Cisco Connect. Shows unsupoprted OS. & I'm also stalled trying to update the firmware for the router.I'm really beginning to see why it was cheaper than an Apple Airport Express. Even at a very low hourly rate, the lost time spent when this has not been working right has not been worth what I saved on the purchase price.
since last nite my router E1200 has been having speed up and down problems.first it goes to 150mb/s then back down to 1 for a few minutes, usualy its stuck at 72mb/s which is a far cry from its rated 300mbps but qi'd rahter have that than 1-2mbps.i'd be happy with 150mbps but that only lasts 5mins then goes down to 1-2mbps and i have to reset my connection.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently was able to obtain my son's Nintendo 3DS from him and now I can't figure out how to get on the internet browser with it!When I open up the internet on his 3DS and when I try to access anything it says communication error even though I have a full signal. It also says that the "error code is: 012-1018 Connection to proxy server failed. Please check that your proxy server settings are correct." I have went in and tried to change the proxy server settings and if I do I lose the internet connection despite the fact that the correct information is set in place. I even tried to reset the router (as my son did before) but I can't access it, even though he was able to!! I have done research on the Nintendo web site and everything that it says to do I have done and it shows that I have a full signal but after that no luck.

However this has not been so pleasant. For some reason the internet connection over wifi is INCREDIBLY slow. I don't know why. It is fast when connected via ethernet to the router. I changed the MTU on the router to 1400, I set the wireless width to 20MHz and the channel to 11. I set security to WPA2. And yet it is still very very slow. It's not a matter of how many users are on the network; I live in a house with five other people and it's slow regardless of whether everybody's home or nobody is home. It's like this on Macs, PCs, phones and even the Xbox 360. I just did a speed test. Wired was about 14MBps down, wireless was around .7MBps down. I simply cannot comprehend this discrepancy. The old router was very unreliable in terms of connectivity but at least it was always fast. And my laptop is fast at my mom's house where she has an E1200. I use a MacBook Pro from 2009 but like I said,this seems to be affecting everybody in the house regardless of hardware.The modem is a Ubee modem from Comcast. I'd upgrade it to a SURFBoard but my landlord controls all the utilities and I'd rather not have to explain to him how to call Comcast and tell them to register the modem's serial number to the account or whatever.

I currently have a Linksys E1200 router and I am getting anywhere from .3-.5 of a megabit per second download speed while upload speed ranges from 2-5 Mbps. This is very strange to me as I have never seen a connection this slow or one that had a higher upload speed than download speed.

However, when I downoaded the software to set it up again, it said it was not compatable with my Mac OS (X Lion 10.7.4). I followed the basic instructions that came with the router and towards the end of the process it says detecting network settings with a % bar. The bar fills to 100% and then asks for a password. I've tried the password my DSL company gave me along with various other things like admin etc. After I enter the password I hit enter and it just asks me for the password over and over again.
