Linksys Wireless Router :: E1200 Setting Disabled As Selection For Security
Apr 1, 2012This problem is on a Cisco E1200 (FW: 1.0.03) and using a browser to modify the routers settings.I'm connected to the router from a wired connection, and I'm trying to turn off the encryption, and just have the router have the setting "disabled" as the selection for "Wireless Security".
However, it seems when I do this, the moment I press "Save" the router gets disconnected from my computer (the wired connection) and the only way to get reconnected is to run the Cisco Connect software from the computer that's hard wired to the router.
Once I get back to that screen in the routers settings, and try it again, the same thing happens.If I change anything else under the routers settings, the connection stays connected, but only when I change the wireless security settings to disabled I see this problem.
Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G / Setting Up E1200 As Extension To Existing Network?
Apr 20, 2012I have a WRT54G that has served us well for several years, but I needed a network connection in another part of the house, both wired for TV, and wireless for downstairs. So I ran an ethernet cable through the house and connected it to my new E1200. It's connected to Port 1, not the Internet port. The TV plugs into Port 2, and my Apple TV to port 3. So far so good, TV and Apple TV appear to work fine. Wireless is where I'm having problems, the wireless signals between the two routers appear on Wifi Analyzer I'm using. Both appear strong in signal for a second, then they disappear, then they appear again for a second, then they disappear. So the wifi's signals appear, then disappear and this cycle continues.
The WRT54G is setup with DHCP, channel 6.
IP Address: 192.168.1.1 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 DHCP Server: Enabled Start IP Address: 192.168.1.100 End IP Address: 192.168.1.149
The E1200 DHCP is disabled, channel 11, 20mhz.
Router IP Address: 192.168.1.2 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 DHCP Server: Disabled Start IP Address: 192.168.1.1 (DHCP disabled) End IP Address: 192.168.1.50 (DHCP is disabled)
I've tried both routers named the same, and then tried 2 different names. I've rebooted them as well after making changes.

May 1, 2013I purchased E1200 and have a problem. I have static external IP but router configured to get IP automatically (reservation from ISP). When some one at home using internet I can commetc to the router using remote management. But when everybody out and no internet users at home I cannot connect to the router. I checked with other router from linksys (old one WAG45G or something like this) and it was the same. But it works great whith TP-Link routers.

Oct 14, 2011I had recently purchased the E1200 router. For some reason, my internet keeps going in and out of service. I will be playing an online game but get disconnected from the server every 6-8 seconds. I tested if it could be my internet provider, but when I connect via Ethernet cord to my modem, it works great. If I run the Ethernet through my router or try wireless connections, it tends to go in and out. It only seems to do this some of the times.

But in the new apartment the internet is working fine when I plug it in the computer directly, but when I plug it in the router (E1200) it says there's no Internet connection. No WIRED internet and No WIRELESS Internet. I don't get it. The same router I took it back to our original apartment and works fine when I hook up the same ethernet cable to the LAN.

Everything works just fine, but when I try to copy files from one wired computer(both Windows 7) to another one on the same router(the E1200 in this case), the network utilization is only about 4%. If I take one of the computers off its wired connection and make it wireless, the utilization goes up to about 50%. Also if I take one of the compuyters off this router, and make a wired connection to my main router(which is connected via a wired connection to the E1200), the network utilization goes up to 50%.

Feb 3, 2013Having several issues w my E1200. For quite some time I have had intermittent loss of internet connection. This was somewhat true even before I got a wifi router. & it has continued. Recently it has been even worse & I'm not sure if it is my isp, my cable modem or the router. ISP came out & checked & said signals looked ok, although modem is old.Now i find out that the version of Cisco Connect that i had been using is incompatible w Mountain Lion so it won't work now. & newly downloaded dmg files say they are damaged (or that app has been modified or damaged--I'm not in a position to tell which but same results after I downloaded a 2nd time).
I have been having more frequent loss of internet connection at home. & when I click on the wifi icon to check, it shows it looking for networks. Also it has not been uncommon to see that it has switched to my guest network.Why would it switch to my guest network? What is the difference between the 2 besides the fact that I guess the guest network doesn't have access to everything on my regular network (which right now is only my iPhone, but may get wireless printer).Also when it shows the lists of networks that it "sees" my guest network does not show a padlock icon so what does that mean? It does have the default password.
Also because I had no idea that Cisco Connect was not compatible w Mountain Lion I didn't even think to check for upgrades before I upgraded to Mountain Lion & now I can't open Cisco Connect. Shows unsupoprted OS. & I'm also stalled trying to update the firmware for the router.I'm really beginning to see why it was cheaper than an Apple Airport Express. Even at a very low hourly rate, the lost time spent when this has not been working right has not been worth what I saved on the purchase price.

Jul 29, 2012since last nite my router E1200 has been having speed up and down problems.first it goes to 150mb/s then back down to 1 for a few minutes, usualy its stuck at 72mb/s which is a far cry from its rated 300mbps but qi'd rahter have that than 1-2mbps.i'd be happy with 150mbps but that only lasts 5mins then goes down to 1-2mbps and i have to reset my connection.

Jul 31, 2012I recently was able to obtain my son's Nintendo 3DS from him and now I can't figure out how to get on the internet browser with it!When I open up the internet on his 3DS and when I try to access anything it says communication error even though I have a full signal. It also says that the "error code is: 012-1018 Connection to proxy server failed. Please check that your proxy server settings are correct." I have went in and tried to change the proxy server settings and if I do I lose the internet connection despite the fact that the correct information is set in place. I even tried to reset the router (as my son did before) but I can't access it, even though he was able to!! I have done research on the Nintendo web site and everything that it says to do I have done and it shows that I have a full signal but after that no luck.

When I had the Blu Ray downstairs I had it connected to the LINKsys thru an ethernet cable and didn't use the adapter, but I wanted to take it upstairs and use it on that TV. Dec 26, 2012I replaced my broken modem with a new Motorola 3360 as recommended by my ISP. The new modem works fine connected directly to my PC. When connecting the modem to the Cisco E1200 router, the same one I had with the older modem, the E1200 says I'm not connected to the PC. I've triple checked the wired connections from the modem to the router and then to the PC. I've swapped out cables and verified that they all work when used directly from the modem to the PC. I'm thinking some settings from the old Westell modem are messing with the connectivity of the new E1200 router.

Apr 15, 2012I recently purchased an E1200 to replace a broken router. I have had good experiences with this model in the past which is why I bought it. However this has not been so pleasant. For some reason the internet connection over wifi is INCREDIBLY slow. I don't know why. It is fast when connected via ethernet to the router. I changed the MTU on the router to 1400, I set the wireless width to 20MHz and the channel to 11. I set security to WPA2. And yet it is still very very slow. It's not a matter of how many users are on the network; I live in a house with five other people and it's slow regardless of whether everybody's home or nobody is home. It's like this on Macs, PCs, phones and even the Xbox 360. I just did a speed test. Wired was about 14MBps down, wireless was around .7MBps down. I simply cannot comprehend this discrepancy. The old router was very unreliable in terms of connectivity but at least it was always fast. And my laptop is fast at my mom's house where she has an E1200. I use a MacBook Pro from 2009 but like I said,this seems to be affecting everybody in the house regardless of hardware.The modem is a Ubee modem from Comcast. I'd upgrade it to a SURFBoard but my landlord controls all the utilities and I'd rather not have to explain to him how to call Comcast and tell them to register the modem's serial number to the account or whatever.

May 14, 2012Linksys E1200. I cannot connect to the Internet through my primary connection, but I can still connect through the guest connection. I think I know what happened, but I don’t know how to fix it. A connect / disconnect key on my keyboard is located right next to the mute sound key. I wanted to mute my sound, and when it didn’t mute I pressed the key a couple more times before I realized I was pressing the wrong key. So I’m guessing I probably messed up some settings. But I don’t know if on the computer, router, or both. Per the documentation I thought I might be able to fix it with Cisco Connect, but it wasn’t installed on my computer. There were only 3 Cisco modules installed.. EAP-FAST module, LEAP module, and PEAP module. I managed to find Cisco Connect on the website and downloaded it, but still couldn’t fix the problem.

-Initially I couldn't connect at all with this machine (however the other two newer laptops could) so I contacted the Linksys tech and he advised I should upgrade my laptop driver
-After much research about this I found a common fix was to upgraded drivers from the 2004 sony driver to atheros_wifi_9.2.0.480 drivers.
-After I did the upgrade I can connect to the router on the guest account and use the internet

Jan 14, 2013I basically plugged it into my Verizon Fios router and downloaded the Cisco Connect application (since I have a macbook air which has no CD drive)
It sets up fine, I change my router name.... BUT at the end it says there is an issue of some sort. The Cisco Connect application reloads saying "repairing connection" but then does not repair it.
Not sure where to go from here. I also logged in to 192.168.1.1 but of course I do not know where to go from here. I also reset the router trying to start from new, but no dice.
Linksys Wireless Router :: E1200 Does Not Connect Wirelessly Above 65Mbps
Nov 29, 2012I have two E1200 routers, one of which I purchased last night. My table and netbook are only connecting wirelessly at 65Mbps max. These same devices connect to a WRT120N router at 150Mbps though.
I have the settings on the E1200 the same as the WRT120N.
So why is the the E1200 only connecting at 65Mbps then? Changing channels and MTU and beacons has no positive effect.
