Is there a "best" channel to use for the router -- e.g. the one that would provide maximum range? I live in a fairly large home and the connection deteriorates in some rooms (not lost altogether, but weaker). Also, what is "channel width"? It's set to 20MHZ, but there is also a setting for Automatic 20/40MHZ. What's the adv advantage of one setting over the other?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy desktop pc has an Asus PCE-AC 66 PCI card (supports up to 1300 mbps wifi) and is only 5m or so away from the the EA6500 router without any obstructions - yet i cannot connect at 1300 mbps AC wifi. On the EA6500 router, i have selected 'mixed' as network mode under 5ghz (since i have some other devices which connect on wifi N on 5ghz) but if i select channel width as 80mhz, i have issues connecting to the 5ghz network on the desktop pc. The desktop briefly connects and under status it says lan speed as 1.3gbps but then it disconnects and i can't connect again. If i select channel width as 'auto' then no problems, the desktop can connect but lan speeds are only 400-600 mbps. why i cannot connect at 1300 mbps?

I am working with a WRT320N for some weeks now, but I don't get the fact that 40Mhz channel width is only allowed for Automatic channel selection.I keep losing connection and the channel keeps changing.I want an option to change the channel manually (like in every good WLAN router!!), also with N data rate (40Mhz channel width).I know how to select the best channel, so why aren't I able to change it the way I like it?

So I attempted to log into the device to see what was wrong and I was surprised to discover that all of the settings including user name and password had reverted back to factory default.
1. What are all of the possible scenarios that would cause this to happen?
2.Would disconnecting power in the middle of a boot up sequence cause the router to revert to factory settings?

I set it up using the CD and followed all the instructions (made a password, wrote down the key, etc.) - and my Wii CAN detect it, but when I type in the key on the Wii I get an error message. I looked online and they said the way to fix that specific error is to "change the channel" on the router to 1 or 11. (It is currently 6). I type in my IP into the browser like I'm supposed to (the default IP of the router), but ALL the options on the page are greyed out and nothing is click-able. Here's a screenshot
View 3 Replies View RelatedI live in a Townhome complex so inSSIDer displays a lot of wireless activity. I have noticed that many of the routers channels are listed as 6 + 2, 4 + 1, etc., while show only a single channel. I have been able to "temporarily" replicate this by setting the Channel Width on my DIR-655, by setting channel width to auto, and when I am successful it displays a speed of 300, both in my task bar and in inSSIDer. However, that is usually short lived and the channel for my router reverts back to a single channel and the displayed speed drops to 130 or 144. My neighbor's Netgear is rock solid at displaying dual channels. Well, that and besting my signal strength. :-)
I have the router manually to channel 8 because none of the routers, judged by their displayed strength, use it.So, I guess my question is; how do I stop my DIR-655 from dropping back to using a single channel, which I interpret 20MHz, even though it is set on auto?
I am building a new network and intended on using the min-link feature on my port-channels between a 3750-X series switch and Nexus 4k.
However reading further into this it seems this feature is only supported on higher end models. I cannot find any reference to the min-links feature in the 3750-X configuration guide. Is this an available feature?
The 3750-X model is WS-C3750X-24T-L running IOS 12.2(55)SE3 IP Services
My thoughts is that the is only an LACP supported feature so I may not see the command until I have entered an LACP specific command on the port-channel but unfortunately I do not have a 3750X to verify this on at present.
I configured the interfaces individually at L3 and could ping across each link Example:

We have a couple of IBM blade chassis with Nexus 4000I 10G blade switch in it. Four 10G ports from each Nexus 4000I switch are bundled into a port channel and connected to Nexus 7K. On the 4k end, one port in the port channel is doing down and coming up as an idividual port. After few minutes it is going down again and coming up as a port-channel member port. We are using CSS 11503 with one 16FE line card. We have connected 3 servers with redundant link. So FE1-2 in Server1, FE 3-4 in Server2 and FE5-6 in Server3. Our system team has configured APA in their servers as they are using HP-Ux.
1) Do we need to do any configuration at line card.
2) Do we need to do ether-channel at loadbalancer end. if yes, can you share me any cisco doc on how to do it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the dir-601 as my main router. Its IP settings are dynamic, not static. My second router, the router I'd like to use as the access point is a Belkin Wireless G Mimo. My goal is to setup the Belkin as an access point downstairs away from the main router. I'd like to do this wirelessly. I'd like to phsycialy plug devices into the Belkin, while the Belkin receives access to the internet wirelessly from my main router, the dir-601.
Here's my issue. There's an easy option to use the Belkin as an access point. So I do this and set the Belkin router to an IP outside the DCHP range ( currently 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.199 ) to 192.168.0.250. My dir-601 will only recognize the Belkin access point while plugged in physically. I know this because when I did a ping test it only see's the Belkin when plugged into the dir-601 via ethernet cables. My ultimate goal is to simply set the dlink dir-601 to recognize the Belkin as an access point.
I noticed when I went to 192.168.0.1 to check my wireless router settings, the all settings were cleared out.I tried entering settings such as SSID and security stuff. The settings show on the screen temporarily but do not save.When I try to save the settings I get the message nothing is changed save anyway? If I press save I get a window that says the setting is saved wait seconds. When I hit continue, and check my settings nothing was saved.
