I have a DIR-655 that was working for the longest time, then out of the blue it just decided to stop getting a connection to the internet. I can connect to the router, but for some reason, it will not get any network settings. When I check the status/device info/WAN section, it just shows:

I have had a DIR-655 for years, and this is a treat - channeling everything from IPTV, to a fast fiber connection, transfers - no sweats.
Then I had to setup a router for a friend, and recommended the DIR-615.
Setup the router, and max it would connect with was 150mb - I changed the settings accordingly: auto channel scan channel width: auto 20/40mhz
So this "opened" up the 300mb speed - however only for 5 mins, then it falls down to 150mb.
My laptop (lenovo) connects to the dir-655 just fine at full speed, and this is also the machine I used for testing the dir-615.
It's ax Hx firmware, FW: 8.04
What I can conclude by using inssider, and xirrus wifi inspector is that it generates 2 channels - and then after 5mins of connectivity looses a channel, and then the speed drops.
I got a new router from the dealer, same issue. Then a friend of mine lent me an ancient dir-615, and interestingly enough this had the same configuration option of "Transmission rate" in the wireless settings page! Just like the dir-655. and also connects at 300mb...
I got a new DIR-825 router and when I try to change settings such as the date and time or try to apply web filters my changes won't save.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use my desktop for streaming media throughout the house. I found it was causing lag for gaming most likely because it was taking up all the bandwidth for the router. We had a 2nd router laying around as well as a 2nd wireless adapter so we set up a 2nd network that was not connected to the internet for strictly media streaming.I attempted to change the network settings so the internet connection appeared as a public network so that streaming of media was hopefully diverted to the non internet wireless adapter.I want a faster way of transferring large video files from my laptop to my desktop. I recently bought a crossover cable to do this through direct connection.Both use the same user name and password as well as run the same win 7 pro however the desktop is the 64 bit version. I set up both ipv4 with the same addresses.When it has worked I am only getting a connection speed of just over 10mb and once I connect the crossover cable between the computers it knocks out my internet connection on the wireless card.

If I reset the router it opens a 20 second window where I can log in, but then goes unresponsive. I have encountered this on my main pc connected wireless, and duplicated the results when wired in with my netbook.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the dir-601 as my main router. Its IP settings are dynamic, not static. My second router, the router I'd like to use as the access point is a Belkin Wireless G Mimo. My goal is to setup the Belkin as an access point downstairs away from the main router. I'd like to do this wirelessly. I'd like to phsycialy plug devices into the Belkin, while the Belkin receives access to the internet wirelessly from my main router, the dir-601.
Here's my issue. There's an easy option to use the Belkin as an access point. So I do this and set the Belkin router to an IP outside the DCHP range ( currently 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.199 ) to 192.168.0.250. My dir-601 will only recognize the Belkin access point while plugged in physically. I know this because when I did a ping test it only see's the Belkin when plugged into the dir-601 via ethernet cables. My ultimate goal is to simply set the dlink dir-601 to recognize the Belkin as an access point.
I noticed when I went to 192.168.0.1 to check my wireless router settings, the all settings were cleared out.I tried entering settings such as SSID and security stuff. The settings show on the screen temporarily but do not save.When I try to save the settings I get the message nothing is changed save anyway? If I press save I get a window that says the setting is saved wait seconds. When I hit continue, and check my settings nothing was saved.

It then said I needed to update the firmware which I did and it successfully completed. I was able to access it through the mydlink web page but when I clicked on the advanced settings, it wouldn't log in. I tried running the setup from the CD but it said "There was a problem saving your settings. Click Next to try again." That never worked. I tried a hard reset, no luck.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the DIR-655 (H/w Ver B1, F/W Ver 2.05NA) set up as router on my network (TWC/RR - modem is Motorola SURFBoard 6121 - modem only, no router or other services provided). I have configured the router sufficiently to allow all computers on the local network to access the Internet, and have configured the DHCP server on the router to provide IP addresses to the local network. I have configured the router to provide the DNS addresses for my local DNS resolvers (so that I can provide DNS resolution for an "internal" domain). Configuration specifics available on request, but everything mentioned so far is working satisfactorily, at least so far.
So, my question: The "Local Domain Name" setting on the router, as indicated in the documentation, provides a connection-specific domain name when DHCP supplies an IP address to the local system. This setting, however, is overridden if the ISP provides a domain name when it assigns an IP to the WAN connection. I have verified by experiment that this is true (no matter what I put in the Local Domain Name field - whether a valid domain, or blank - the local machines receive the domain name supplied by the ISP.I wish to modify this behavior. I wish to have the router provide the domain name specified in the Local Domain Name field *regardless* of what the ISP provides.

It requires an internet connection to function. When the router brain-farts, we don't have phone service... and we don't know it until we try to call out, or try to use the internet. We went to bed last night with the router working and woke up to it not working. It's just my wife and I here. I haven't seen the dog showing any interest in jacking with our computer gear.
When I access the setup utility and go to Manual Wireless Network Setup, the Wireless Network Name has defaulted to dlink, and Security Mode is None. I have to re-enter my personalized setup info, (because that is what our computers are looking for), then all works fine again.I'm a savy XP user, my wife has Vista (yuk) (she doesn't know any better; her daughter installed it).We are Comcast customers. We own a Linksys CM-100 modem. (When I connect direct by hardwire, (i.e. bypass the Dir-825 router), from the modem to any computer, or the Verizon Network Extender, they function just fine. I just purchased a 100M fiber line to go with a brand new D-Link DIR-655 router. Before plugging in the router, I tested on my laptop directly from the modem and had great result speeds of 98M/97M. I connected the router, then plugged my laptop to find I was only getting speeds of about 10M/6M. This was true for both wired and wireless connections.
I took a look at the router settings. I turned off QoS, but that didn't work. One thing I did see was the WAN was set to auto. I attempted to change that to 100mbps or to 1000mpbs. However, when I did that my modem light that shows a 100M connection is active turned off and I couldn't get internet. I was only able to get a connection if I left that on auto. Is there a setting somewhere that is limiting my bandwidth from the router?I reset the router twice and checked to find I had the latest firmware. Is there something that I am missing? I have always been a Linksys fan, but wanted to see how D-Link is.
We nave a new DCS-932L, and a several month old DCS-930L, both with latest firmware.I have set up both the same, enabled Motion detection across the two middle horizontal bands (fully across); no email; ftp enabled; Video set to 1 fps, quality="high", java.The DCS-932L seems to ignore the frames per second settings; motion brings several seconds of 15 fps, generating maybe 50 image files in a burst.The DCS-930L on the other hand also seems to ignore the settings in the opposite direction, and sometimes has trouble providing even one complete frame.

Then after looking for a bit it says it can't find the printer.Looking at the wireless status page it says the ip address is 0.0.0.0.Reading on HP's website it says that you must have the router set to broadcast the SSID, I believe mine is set to hide. How would I go about changing it to broadcast AND would it mess up all my other settings changing it to Broadcast, meaning will I have to reconfigure the other computers again? Do I use the set up wizard to edit things or is that for first time set up ?

All my other settings seem to be working (and staying) but unless my camera is on all the time, it reverts to 01-01-2011 with a 12:00 am time once I plug it in. I only hook the camera up during the day while I'm at work, so I can keep an eye on my older dogs. I'm not able to view the live video at work (ActiveX issues) so I tried to set up an email schedule so I would be sent pictures.
As a last resort, I went through the wizard set up one more time, thinking I missed something the first time around, but that didn't work either. I am not impressed with D-link support so really don't want to call them unless I absolutely have to.

I have two(2) WR941ND routers working at my home. The primary has IP : 192.168.1.2 , this primary router is working as an Acess Point, DHCP is OFF, and no wireless security activated. This primary router is connected to a DSL modem+router and DHCP is activated on it.For the secondary router I configred 192.168.1.100 . On the secondary router I have activated WDS function as well as Wireless Security (WPA2) , DHCP is Off on it. This secondary router is to work as wireless bridge + Access Point. You will understand that this secondary router is wirelessly connected to the primary one.I am able to configure all, and all things work correctly for few days at a time.But if at any time the secondary router is switched OFF, and then again switched ON, it seems to have lost al the settings and its IPs, and thus unable to connect to primary router. At such time I am unable to locate /connect my laptop to this secondary router, and it keeps on searching & searching.
None of the port forwarding settings are working at all on my router. I have just a couple very simple settings. One of them is just an IP camera. I input the name, the TCP port, the computer (IP address) and that's it. This works just fine with my other Netgear router, but with this router, NADA. The router has the latest version of the firmware applied. Just applied it. Hardware version B. Firmware version: 2.10NA. If so, then I really need my money back since it is a main function of a router and it should work. Can't return it now, since I bought it several months ago. Never knew port forwarding didn't work because I never needed it until now.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy computer is an XPS 360 with alot of upgrades. After looking at the specs of D-links routers I thought I give it a try. Hooked up, works like a dream. Couple months later my computer was saying I have "limited connectivity." All of the other computers have full access and works great. I tried going to my routers home page, but all I get is "The server at 192.168.0.1 is taking too long to respond." Ive tried renewing the ipconfig, restarting everything, new cables....everything I can imagine. I tried calling my ISP and they told me it wasnt there fault, that its pretty much on my end. I called Dell for support, said my warranty went out and they cant do a thing.
