What's the point for two options, auto or 20 mhz only? there is no third option so if you choose auto its still 20 mhz am i right?BTW i had to change channel width to 20 mhz only because under auto the speed was horrible.

My desktop pc has an Asus PCE-AC 66 PCI card (supports up to 1300 mbps wifi) and is only 5m or so away from the the EA6500 router without any obstructions - yet i cannot connect at 1300 mbps AC wifi. On the EA6500 router, i have selected 'mixed' as network mode under 5ghz (since i have some other devices which connect on wifi N on 5ghz) but if i select channel width as 80mhz, i have issues connecting to the 5ghz network on the desktop pc. The desktop briefly connects and under status it says lan speed as 1.3gbps but then it disconnects and i can't connect again. If i select channel width as 'auto' then no problems, the desktop can connect but lan speeds are only 400-600 mbps. why i cannot connect at 1300 mbps?

Is there a "best" channel to use for the router -- e.g. the one that would provide maximum range? I live in a fairly large home and the connection deteriorates in some rooms (not lost altogether, but weaker). Also, what is "channel width"? It's set to 20MHZ, but there is also a setting for Automatic 20/40MHZ. What's the adv advantage of one setting over the other?

I have a Cisco 5500 Software Version 6.0.199.4. Today I've been able to succesfully add a few newly purchased 1242G APs to my WC so I know everything is setup properly. They got the proper DHCP info and I was up and running in a few minutes.
I'm now trying the same thing with a newly purchased Air-Lap1262N-a-KP
I can read the bootup because I'm attached to it on the console.I see that it gets the proper IP#
But then I keep getting a "failed to decode the discovery response" error.

We have a couple of autonomous 1262's that I'd like to get configured. I would like to put the Ethernet interface out on our Internet subnet and have the clients get a RFC 1918 address from the radio's. Our little Linksys is setup this way and the clients are PAT'ing off the Ethernet interface when they go to the Internet.
Is this possible with these guys or do I have to put the AP ethernet interface into the same subnet with the DHCP scope? I don't have enough Internet IP's to hand out to every wireless client.

why my AIR-AP1262N-A-K9 will not boot all the way. It will get all the way to initiating the interfaces and stop. I can never get to controlling the cli. This is my first time with a cisco ap but from everything that I read it seamed very easy.
This unit from what I understand will work all on its own with no controller. Hence it is called a "standalone" model. Yet it seems to be looking for something to finish during the boot. Below is the out put during boot. The last line is where it stops.

I would like to start setting up a Cisco Wireless Lan Controller 5508 with some Cisco 1262n AP's. How to start setting this to take advantage of having this wireless lan controller? I have a DHCP server, a Cisco 6509, and Cisco 3750g that connects the access points. I have Vlan 50 for wireless access points.

I have two 1262N access points with 5Ghz antennas, and I have configured one of them as a root bridge and the other as a non-root bridge; both using the same ssid. I have enble both dott11Radio interfaces on each access point. The problem I am having is that they do not associate. I have not configured them for any encryption or security. I just want to make sure the connect before I add any other configuration. Is there anything else that I need to configure to make them associate.

I want to connect two buildings. Let's call them Building A (main) and Building B.
„A“ is the main building and provides a wired LAN to an AAA server (192.168.1.2) and the WAN gateway (192.168.1.1). There I placed a 1262N with the IP 192.168.1.3 connected to the wired LAN and configured it as Root-Bridge. Let's call it AP01.
„B“ is a pretty large building and has a wired LAN from one end to the other end.
So I placed two 1262N there, each at one end.
The first 1262N is configured as non-root Bridge (AP02) and connects to the Root Bridge (AP01). The IP address of AP02 is 192.168.1.4.
The second 1262N is configured as Access Point (AP03) and connects to the non-root Bridge (AP02) via the wired LAN. The IP adress of AP03 is 192.168.1.5
My Questions:
1. Do I need tell AP02 about the AAA Server in Building A or acts AP01 like a AAA Proxy for AP02 because of it Root Bridge functionality?
2. How Do I tell AP03 that it should use AP02 as a gateway to building A?

I am trying to enable the workgroup bridge mode on the 5ghz 802.11N radio of a Aironet 1262N, but when I select the workgroup bridge mode from the GUI the radio becomes disabled. If I select the Access Point role from the GUI then the radio instantly becomes enabled. The same thing happens if I attempt the same procedure with the 2.4ghz radio as well. I can get the radios from both bands enabled if I select the Access Point role. I made sure to check that both radios were not set to workgroup bridge as well. I am running 12.4(25d)JA1 code on the AP. This is my first time working with this type of AP.

I have setup a WiFi bridge using two Cisco 1262n AP. I was able to get the bridge up and running for a little while. But soon after I plugged in a switch on the non root side of the bridge, the LAN on the root side started slowing and user were getting disconnected from the network. I suspect the Spanning Tree issue with the Bridge.
Couple questions:
I am using both the 2.4 and the 5Ghz bands for the Bridge. I assume that this was OK and was needed to get the highest throughput, right?
I was making an assumption that the AP would take into account the possible spanning tree issues automatically when both bands are used in the same bridge. Is assumption correct? If not what is the correct configuration for spanning tree on a wireless bridge that uses 2.4 and 5 bands?

I have been having some connectivity problems and one suggested solution was to upgrade networking firmware. I did this for our router (Cisco RVS4000 v2) and it didn't work, so I moved on to the wireless access points (two WAP4410N). Before doing that, I also reset both to factory default settings - neither would respond to pressing the reset button but it seemed to work using the web interface for both.
Before I did anything to the WAP4410Ns, I noticed they were connected in B/G/N-Mixed mode to channel 6. Now the wireless network mode is stuck on Disable. I can choose B/G/N-Mixed from the dropdown list, but can't choose a channel - the dropdown list for that is empty. And if I try to choose Save after choosing B/G/N-Mixed, it reverts to Disable.

WISM2 is installed in an appropriate slot (according to same doco) and have attempted reset to factory defaults, removing and power cycling several times.

I have 3xLAP1242 in a building that are some what close to eachother (WCS show them as Rx Neighbors). The problem is that they are all running the same channel, 1 on 2.4GHz and channel 140 on 5GHz. [code]Ether I get these log messages because they are on the same channel or because there is something blocking the other channels. Can I force a channel change on the LAPs somehow? Not manualy setting the channels, but forcing the LAPs to redo their channel calculation/algorithm.

We have a deployment with six 1524SB mesh APs. Two are used as RAPs and face east and west respectively with directional antennas and two MAPs on each side with omni antennas. The RAPs are within 20 feet of each other. I set the bridge group name as east or west depending on which side of the mesh the equipment is located but noticed the downlink channel is set to 56 on both RAPs. I don't remember setting the channel for the RAPs, but they aren't using the global DCA.Would best practice be to change the downlink to unique channels on the RAPs, enable DCA (if it will let me), or is a unique bridge group name sufficient enough?

We have 3 AP541N units deployed in a doctors office. All of them are set to 802.11b/g/n mode. 2 of these units are used to provide non-secured internet access to patients and are using channel 7. The other AP is for our private network secured using WPA2/AES operating on channel 1. There are several other access points in our proximity using channel 6 and I'm trying to minimize interference. When selecting wireless mode 802.11 b/g/n I have only channels 1-7 to choose from. What I really want to do is change our public wlan to use channel 11 to avoid the other business's AP which are using channel 6.
Should I be using a different mode altogether? In your expereince which mode will provide the best transmission rates and range?

In our mesh network. there are 8 root AP and 15 mesh AP . we are using 1552E ,i have few questions on it:
1. If the ap's acting as mesh ap are connected with only 2.4 ghz external antenna, will they have problem joining the root access point to form mesh.
2. How should we set the channel assignments. Do we only set them in root ap's.
3. should the channels be set under 802.11a ?
4.should the channel be manually set or should it be left to be chosen dynamically.

I can see Channels 36, 40, 44, 48, 52 and so on BUT no trace of any wireless signal here?I carefully reviewed the wireless settings options and it is indeed enabled.

I am trying to figure out what channel my Linksys E4200 is CURRENTLY using (at the time I check it)I am having issues with occassionally losing my connection (mostly from the computer furthest from the router) and it may be caused by a cordless phone , in the room with that computer as I think the problem only occurs when on the phone in that room.So I am trying to determine what channel that it may be using at the time of the drops ...(so I can set it NOT to use that channel)I'm pretty sure it it something on the 5ghz (40mhz)side .but I don't really want to set the router to use 20mhz only as the speed greatly drops when on 20mhz only (i.e. 50mbps vs up to 200mbs when 5ghz is activated)
Checking my Router set up page, I see only what channels is CAN use, not what is currently being used.Is there anyway to identify what channel it is currently using so I can see if it is a specific channel causing the issue and not have to switch off 40mhz?
