I have 14 unit of Air-AP1142n. No controller. All unit were in a warehouse, each of the AP distance each other around 40mI would like to use only 4 SSID instead of 14 SSID.

The networking part is successfully working, multiple VLANs, SSIDs etc. I would like to configure one of my wireless networks to work with WAP2-PSK and the other with WPA-PSK.I’m confused as to what encryption to set on each radio and the ciphers to use on the SSID for each vlan to enable the best possible security. I’m not using a RADIUS sever in my network .point me in the right direction with the right CLI commands?

The option is to do it manually with CLI, but there is about 200+ AP's that need converting. We can't do them all at the same time. We have to do it building per building.

We have some Cisco Aironet 1142N Autonomous access points installed, currently running 12.4(21a)JA1 IOS system software:
System Software Filename: c1140-k9w7-tar.124-21a.JA1
System Software Version: 12.4(21a)JA1
Bootloader Version: 12.4(23c)JA3
We tried to install the following Autonomous AP IOS software update:
Release 15.2.2-JA ED (c1140-k9w7-tar.152-2.JA.tar) 30-AUG-2012
But the 15.2.2-JA system software release does not install via TFTP Web-GUI (from a accessible PumpKIN TFTP-Server poining on that software update).
What's the problem with that?Is that system software release 15.2.2-JA ED (c1140-k9w7-tar.152-2.JA.tar) not compatible to the Cisco Aironet 1142N Autonomous access points

I can loggon to the web interface but it won't show me th expected status information.
I have around 60 , 1142 N APs . As of now i have only management VLAN ( for IP ) & one user vlan 350 configured on the access point . All the users connect to VLAN 350 and they get IP as required.However in our new set up there are couple of requirements have come up were in SSID will be the same however we have created many VLANs for different kind of user group and all these VLANs should be mapped to this single SSID and pick the IPs from their respective VLANs .
We have done configuration on the RADIUS server side were in we have mapped the users in their respective VLANs and they are getting authenticated via AD . Now how do i map my these 4-5 VLANs in a single SSID in Access Point.
I'm trying to configure an 1142N AP + 2960-S + ASA5505 with wireless, vlans and trunking with no success. DHCP is provided from my DHCP-server on the inside.

What else should I include on this configuration to allow for a hot spot where the user logons and must authenticate themselves via a secure web browser before going out to the internet. Is it possible to configure a Cisco 2801 router with Multipoint Port Channeling? A service provider dropped a 4.5Mbps ( 3x T1s ) to one of our customers without any equipment. They assume the CPE responsible. If so, any links to documentation on this configuration. If not, what device will they need to buy from Cisco that can bundle these 3 T1s together then feed it into their router?

There is two interfaces connected from the 3750's(one on each physical stack member) to the 2960.I have the physical interfaces configured exactly the same.

Should I keep the configuration on the physical ports and not configure the Port-Channel Interfaces? Do I need to configure port-channel load balancing? Is the channel-group mode sufficient? Goal is to basically create 2 links to the 2960 to double the bandwidth and provide redundancy.
Can i configure access ports into port channel on Nexus 7K switch.If possible then provide the complete configuration.....

I have run into a major issue with an autonomous Cisco 1142AP. We were in the midst of a firmware upgrade when something went wrong and caused the AP to reboot in an error mode. Basically the unit was flashing Blue, amber, red. We unmounted the unit from the wall, connected to the console, and it would now only flash red over and over. We pulled out the cisco guides and performed a factory reset on the unit. This still does not work. and the contents of our flash directory is empty. All we get is a ROMMON AP prompt on the unit. If I issue a set command, I can see the default settings for IP, netmask, etc.
I cannot access the unit via the network, even after setting IP info and matching it up to my laptop. Since I have no network connectivity, I can't TFTP a new IOS file to the unit. I am stumped. How to get the config as if it was out of the box, or an alternate way to TFTP to the unit? [code]Notice the lines in red, I must have typed someting incorrectly.Now once the unit boots after being reset, I cannot even type in the CLI. Someting majorly screwed up here. Can the bootstrap be reinitialized?
Now, with all the unified communications, voice, video and data are in the same device, and I try to give priority to voice and some applications, but in the WLC I can not find the way to mark all that kind of packets.
Is it possible to do that? like in a LAN making the marking as voice, signaling and any kind of application? as I marked in all the LAN.

About 30 users, in a cargo warehouse invironment.Now it is a good time for me to learn & play around with WLC.What else should i need in order for LAP & WLC to work??

I have one management vlan 5 & User VLAN for WIFI VLAN 10 . The problem is when i make the POE port which is connected to the AP as trunk port means : [code]I am not able to ping the management IP allotted from VLAN 5 . However when i make it as access i am able to ping the managament IP . But for both the VLANs to work it should be in trunk mode & in cisco i can either assign the port as access or trunk .Post this i would configure the 1142 N with Cisco SG300-10P POE Switch . I guess if issue with my 4510 gets resolved the same way i can configure SG300-10P as well .
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an Aironet 1142n and need to configure/set it on one subnet in our WAN and ship it to another subnet on the WAN.
I have not been able to access the unit using a network cable from a pc direct connected to the Aironet. The pc's ip address is set to 10.0.0.2 I can not get to the access point thru the web interface using 10.0.0.1.
When I attempted to access it using a Hyper terminal connected to serial port and console port it loaded a list of software and updates and then reported that it shut down and I could not do any thing with it.
What must I do to be able to configuer a static IP and assign it an SSID and Security settings? How can I access the web interface? I have reset it by uplugging the power cord and holding down the Mode button while I plugged back in the power cord and holding it until the light turned amber/orange. Currently the light is solid green with the ethernet port direct connected to the nic card on a desktop.
I have a question with the CAPWAP command. Typically, when I get 1142N from our provider, they have no configuration on them and all I need to do is enter 4 lines of code all starting with CAPWAP and then I have them join the controller and finish the config. This one I just received looks like it has an IOS image or configuration on it. (You can do a show run). I can: show CAPWAP - but I can not enter any CAPWAP commands. They are invalid input detected at marker. How to I get to the point where I can enter my CAPWAP commands ??

How can I have access to the cisco "AP#" prompt? When I try to acees the AP through hyperterminal, it gives me the attached messages. The message keeps looping and not letting me access the AP# command prompt to assign an IP address so that I can control it in mode HTTP.

I have setup the AP, and read about some issues with Multicast and Apple Bon. Services.
I ran the "no ip igmp snooping" command and it allowed be to access our AirPlay Devices (Apple TV, AirPort Express, Etc), however our 2 AirPrint devices (Xerox 6125N, & Canon IR3220 via AirPrint Activator) are not showing up at all when connected to the 1142 (they work everywhere else).
Everything is on the same subnet, and 1142 is connected to the same switch has the airprint devices, and one Apple TV.
Both our 3500 Series switches are connected via fiber, AP and AirPrint/AirPlay devices are in the same VLAN.
10 Access Pointd 1142N setup on vlan 10 and the controller management is in vlan 10.
They get DHCP IP addreses from the controller itself!! I do not have another DHCP server.

I am testing our new wireless network using 1 Cisco 2504 wireless controller with 5 licenses 4 Cisco Air LAP 1142N Access Point I configured it very simple for testing There is only one interface and vlan is untaggetd There is also only one WLAN with one SSID Currently security setting is WPA + WPA2 + PSK (I also tested with no security setup) Wlan session time is diabled and controller user idle timeout is set to 1000000 (Max)AP boot version is 12.4.23.3 and ISO version is 12.4(23c)JA3 Problem is clinet(iphone) does not automatically associate with 1142N Access Point even after it learned network. Phone has to be authenticated again to connect to network same iphone can automatically associate with old 1220 Access point but not with New AP if I urn off and turn back on wifi from iphone, it does see the network but does not connect but I have to manually reconnect to it with password I want iphone to connect known network without reauthentication process after iphone's wifi function is turn on?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy co-workers and I have been trying to diagnose a problem that recently started occuring on our AP1141N and AP1142N units. I have found a handful of posts that talk about this issue, but none with a solid solution. It seems that as often as every 24 hours, the radio interfaces change state to down, for seemingly no reason. Once this occurs, the only way to bring the radio interface back up is to reboot the AP. As far as we know, this wasn't happening until recently, when we enabled the "N" speeds. Things were working correctly for a year or two while the APs were configured just for b/g operation. The following is the only seeminlg-relevant thing that shows up in the logs:
*Nov 12 00:53:02.508: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to reset
*Nov 12 00:53:03.507: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to down
Some additional info:
- All of the APs are connected to PoE Cisco c2960 switches
- We have tried both hard-coded radio channels, and non hard-coded
- We have tried various ways setting power inline negotiation
- We are not using a WLC
- System Software Version: 12.4(21a)JA1
- Bootloader Version: 12.4(18a)JA3
I have attached output of sh run, sh log and sh controlers dot11Radio0. (Another oddiy - the line %DOT11-2-RESET_RADIO hasn't shown up in the other logs I have viewed after this issue occurs...)
I would like to enable "client isolation" on an autonomous, standalone 1142N AP but I don't see that option anywhere in the web interface. how to keep associated clients from passing traffic to one another on this AP?
