View 7 Replieswhy my AIR-AP1262N-A-K9 will not boot all the way. It will get all the way to initiating the interfaces and stop. I can never get to controlling the cli. This is my first time with a cisco ap but from everything that I read it seamed very easy.
This unit from what I understand will work all on its own with no controller. Hence it is called a "standalone" model. Yet it seems to be looking for something to finish during the boot. Below is the out put during boot. The last line is where it stops.

I want to connect two buildings. Let's call them Building A (main) and Building B.
„A“ is the main building and provides a wired LAN to an AAA server (192.168.1.2) and the WAN gateway (192.168.1.1). There I placed a 1262N with the IP 192.168.1.3 connected to the wired LAN and configured it as Root-Bridge. Let's call it AP01.
„B“ is a pretty large building and has a wired LAN from one end to the other end.
So I placed two 1262N there, each at one end.
The first 1262N is configured as non-root Bridge (AP02) and connects to the Root Bridge (AP01). The IP address of AP02 is 192.168.1.4.
The second 1262N is configured as Access Point (AP03) and connects to the non-root Bridge (AP02) via the wired LAN. The IP adress of AP03 is 192.168.1.5
My Questions:
1. Do I need tell AP02 about the AAA Server in Building A or acts AP01 like a AAA Proxy for AP02 because of it Root Bridge functionality?
2. How Do I tell AP03 that it should use AP02 as a gateway to building A?
1. Does the Aironet 1242G have an internal antenna?
2. When connecting an AIR-ANT1728 omnidirectional to the primary connector on the ap, does this have to be enable or is it enable by default?
3. My laptops can connect and travel between access point just fine, but smartphones cannot even see the network.
I need to upgrade a 1230 to the new Aironet 1250 at a location. I have only 2 external antennas at that location.
I understand that you still can run 802.11n with 2 antennas. But I can not find anywhere in WLC 5508 v7.2 that I can disable the middle nut (C)
I am using two Cisco Aironet 1252 (cisco AIR-AP1252AG-A-K9) to setup a point to point link (one is configured as root bridge and is as a non-root bridge). Both Aironets are running software version Version 12.4(25d)JA.
Is there a way that I can that I can perform an antenna alignment test on the Aironet that is configured as a non-root bridge?executing the following command dot11 dot11radio 0 ? does not show the antenna-alignemnet option.
as per reading documentation, i only see the dual-band antenna option for this device. i am planning to use this for mulch-site bridging. can i substitute the dual-band antenna with a single-band high gain antenna for such deployment?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco Aironet 1242G and an outdoor omni 12 dbi antenna. I hooked it all up to day (antenna is connected with a 100ft cable). My signal is very disappointing. I have it behind a garage and can only get about maybe 75 foot away and the signal gets very weak.
Is there something that needs to be configured in the aironet? I have enabled external antenna and played with the settings. Is the 12 dbi antenna just too much?
I have a Cisco 5500 Software Version 6.0.199.4. Today I've been able to succesfully add a few newly purchased 1242G APs to my WC so I know everything is setup properly. They got the proper DHCP info and I was up and running in a few minutes.
I'm now trying the same thing with a newly purchased Air-Lap1262N-a-KP
I can read the bootup because I'm attached to it on the console.I see that it gets the proper IP#
But then I keep getting a "failed to decode the discovery response" error.

We have a couple of autonomous 1262's that I'd like to get configured. I would like to put the Ethernet interface out on our Internet subnet and have the clients get a RFC 1918 address from the radio's. Our little Linksys is setup this way and the clients are PAT'ing off the Ethernet interface when they go to the Internet.
Is this possible with these guys or do I have to put the AP ethernet interface into the same subnet with the DHCP scope? I don't have enough Internet IP's to hand out to every wireless client.
can we configure ip address air lap 1262N-A-K9 via CLI?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have two 1262N access points with 5Ghz antennas, and I have configured one of them as a root bridge and the other as a non-root bridge; both using the same ssid. I have enble both dott11Radio interfaces on each access point. The problem I am having is that they do not associate. I have not configured them for any encryption or security. I just want to make sure the connect before I add any other configuration. Is there anything else that I need to configure to make them associate.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to enable the workgroup bridge mode on the 5ghz 802.11N radio of a Aironet 1262N, but when I select the workgroup bridge mode from the GUI the radio becomes disabled. If I select the Access Point role from the GUI then the radio instantly becomes enabled. The same thing happens if I attempt the same procedure with the 2.4ghz radio as well. I can get the radios from both bands enabled if I select the Access Point role. I made sure to check that both radios were not set to workgroup bridge as well. I am running 12.4(25d)JA1 code on the AP. This is my first time working with this type of AP.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have setup a WiFi bridge using two Cisco 1262n AP. I was able to get the bridge up and running for a little while. But soon after I plugged in a switch on the non root side of the bridge, the LAN on the root side started slowing and user were getting disconnected from the network. I suspect the Spanning Tree issue with the Bridge.
Couple questions:
I am using both the 2.4 and the 5Ghz bands for the Bridge. I assume that this was OK and was needed to get the highest throughput, right?
I was making an assumption that the AP would take into account the possible spanning tree issues automatically when both bands are used in the same bridge. Is assumption correct? If not what is the correct configuration for spanning tree on a wireless bridge that uses 2.4 and 5 bands?

I have to replace a 1230 with an 1262 AP.
All antennas have to be in the same direction on the AP and I guess when the old 1230 is working well the 1262 will be only better . Attached u see how I plan to mount the new AP versus the old one...
When we take a look at the internal antennas on the 1142 AP, we notice the 5ghz pointed all the same way, but for the 2.4ghz we can see each offset by 45/120 degrees. It was my understanding that all antennas are omnidirectionals on the 1142, why are those 2.4ghz antennas not all pointed the same way? onfiguration advantage and that each antenna is indeed omnicadirectional? Example, if I shut just one antenna off, do I lose a sector (120degree)?
View 5 Replies View Relatedi want to install a 3500e. I have a hole in my wireless network where this AP will be a perfect fit. I do have a wireless controller running code 6.x, so I think I will need to upgrade to 7 which is not a big deal.
The problem I have is the antenna selection. Since the AP has MIMO multiple-inputs multiple-inputs I’m perplexed on the type of antenna to choose. Since the environment is a warehouse the Omni directional would be preferred - should I also add the dipole antenna for close proximity to the AP. Also, I noticed in the getting started guide the 3500e has 6 external connection points 3 for 2.4 and 3 for 5 GHz. The antenna documentation says to use dual-band antennas, but this contradicts what is shown in the getting started guide. So what antennas should I get to make the 3500e work in a warehouse environment.
where can I find SKU for HGA9N antenna? Looking in CCW but I can't find it. Neither I can find EoS notice for it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am still new to wireless. I have been studing for my CCNA Wireless for about 6 months now so I still have a lot of questions.
Right now I have to deploy some new APs. We are using 3502e APs. I have a qustion on how to mount antennas for these access points. I have to make a mounting bracket the new installations. What was done with the previous APs was to mount a unistrut beam to an I beam in the building. There is 2 AIR-ANT-1728's and 2 AIR-ANT-5160V-R antennas mounted straight out on the unistrut. Then they put a T bracket on the unistrut and mounted a second bar 90 degrees from the main bar and connected the third 1728 and 5160 antennas on the second mounting bracket. So we have 4 antennas in a row, and two off to the side 90 degrees from the other 4 antennas.
My question, is this OK to have them this way, or would it be better to have all 6 antennas in a straight line when I fabricate my new AP brackets?
Here is a picture of what I am talking about. This would be looking at it from above.
