Nov 21, 2012I have many 1262N and 1031AG APs. when the client is connected to the AP 1262N the performance is slower than it is connected to AP 1031AG (with more clients) in 2.4GHz.

Cisco Wireless :: Add 1262n To 5500 WC?
Jan 16, 2013I have a Cisco 5500 Software Version 6.0.199.4. Today I've been able to succesfully add a few newly purchased 1242G APs to my WC so I know everything is setup properly. They got the proper DHCP info and I was up and running in a few minutes.
I'm now trying the same thing with a newly purchased Air-Lap1262N-a-KP
I can read the bootup because I'm attached to it on the console.I see that it gets the proper IP#
But then I keep getting a "failed to decode the discovery response" error.

Cisco Wireless :: 1262N Autonomous AP Configuration?
Oct 26, 2011We have a couple of autonomous 1262's that I'd like to get configured. I would like to put the Ethernet interface out on our Internet subnet and have the clients get a RFC 1918 address from the radio's. Our little Linksys is setup this way and the clients are PAT'ing off the Ethernet interface when they go to the Internet.
Is this possible with these guys or do I have to put the AP ethernet interface into the same subnet with the DHCP scope? I don't have enough Internet IP's to hand out to every wireless client.

Jan 26, 2013A Customer has a 1262N-WGB connected via LWAPP to a 5508 Controller.(7.2.x.x)Behind the WGB they have a no-name switch and connected to that two D-Link cameras.I am not able to ping these cameras. When I connect my laptop to that switch it is no problem. May 2, 2013why my AIR-AP1262N-A-K9 will not boot all the way. It will get all the way to initiating the interfaces and stop. I can never get to controlling the cli. This is my first time with a cisco ap but from everything that I read it seamed very easy.
This unit from what I understand will work all on its own with no controller. Hence it is called a "standalone" model. Yet it seems to be looking for something to finish during the boot. Below is the out put during boot. The last line is where it stops.

Mar 5, 2013I have two 1262N access points with 5Ghz antennas, and I have configured one of them as a root bridge and the other as a non-root bridge; both using the same ssid. I have enble both dott11Radio interfaces on each access point. The problem I am having is that they do not associate. I have not configured them for any encryption or security. I just want to make sure the connect before I add any other configuration. Is there anything else that I need to configure to make them associate.

Apr 9, 2012I want to connect two buildings. Let's call them Building A (main) and Building B.
„A“ is the main building and provides a wired LAN to an AAA server (192.168.1.2) and the WAN gateway (192.168.1.1). There I placed a 1262N with the IP 192.168.1.3 connected to the wired LAN and configured it as Root-Bridge. Let's call it AP01.
„B“ is a pretty large building and has a wired LAN from one end to the other end.
So I placed two 1262N there, each at one end.
The first 1262N is configured as non-root Bridge (AP02) and connects to the Root Bridge (AP01). The IP address of AP02 is 192.168.1.4.
The second 1262N is configured as Access Point (AP03) and connects to the non-root Bridge (AP02) via the wired LAN. The IP adress of AP03 is 192.168.1.5
My Questions:
1. Do I need tell AP02 about the AAA Server in Building A or acts AP01 like a AAA Proxy for AP02 because of it Root Bridge functionality?
2. How Do I tell AP03 that it should use AP02 as a gateway to building A?
Cisco Wireless :: 1262N AP Disables Radios When Switched To Workgroup Bridge Mode
Feb 21, 2013I am trying to enable the workgroup bridge mode on the 5ghz 802.11N radio of a Aironet 1262N, but when I select the workgroup bridge mode from the GUI the radio becomes disabled. If I select the Access Point role from the GUI then the radio instantly becomes enabled. The same thing happens if I attempt the same procedure with the 2.4ghz radio as well. I can get the radios from both bands enabled if I select the Access Point role. I made sure to check that both radios were not set to workgroup bridge as well. I am running 12.4(25d)JA1 code on the AP. This is my first time working with this type of AP.

Feb 14, 2013I have setup a WiFi bridge using two Cisco 1262n AP. I was able to get the bridge up and running for a little while. But soon after I plugged in a switch on the non root side of the bridge, the LAN on the root side started slowing and user were getting disconnected from the network. I suspect the Spanning Tree issue with the Bridge.
Couple questions:
I am using both the 2.4 and the 5Ghz bands for the Bridge. I assume that this was OK and was needed to get the highest throughput, right?
I was making an assumption that the AP would take into account the possible spanning tree issues automatically when both bands are used in the same bridge. Is assumption correct? If not what is the correct configuration for spanning tree on a wireless bridge that uses 2.4 and 5 bands?
Cisco Wireless :: 1142N AP Upgrade Gone Really Wrong
Jan 24, 2012I have run into a major issue with an autonomous Cisco 1142AP. We were in the midst of a firmware upgrade when something went wrong and caused the AP to reboot in an error mode. Basically the unit was flashing Blue, amber, red. We unmounted the unit from the wall, connected to the console, and it would now only flash red over and over. We pulled out the cisco guides and performed a factory reset on the unit. This still does not work. and the contents of our flash directory is empty. All we get is a ROMMON AP prompt on the unit. If I issue a set command, I can see the default settings for IP, netmask, etc.
I cannot access the unit via the network, even after setting IP info and matching it up to my laptop. Since I have no network connectivity, I can't TFTP a new IOS file to the unit. I am stumped. How to get the config as if it was out of the box, or an alternate way to TFTP to the unit? [code]Notice the lines in red, I must have typed someting incorrectly.Now once the unit boots after being reset, I cannot even type in the CLI. Someting majorly screwed up here. Can the bootstrap be reinitialized?
Cisco Wireless :: WLC-4402-25-K S/W - Upgrade Went Wrong
May 3, 2012WLC-4402-25-K S/W - Primary and Secondary Controllers were running 4.2.130 to begin with. Customer upgraded remotely using NCS - Primary to 4.2.209 and then to 7.0.230 and all that went fine and is in Production.
Then customer upgraded Secondary also using NCS also from 4.2.130 to 4.2.209 in preparation to upgrade to 7.0.230 and he lost contact with the controller. Sent a technician to site to troubleshoot by connecting to Serial Port. Technician #ESCAPED out of the boot sequence and from the BOOT MENU tried to boot the Primary Image and it failed with CRC error on Flash. He then tried to boot the Backup image and had the same problem. He then tried to manually load 7.0.230 - ER (Boot Software) using TFTPD32.EXE and that went fine. He then tried to load 7.0.230 "aes" S/W - The big over 70 MB file and went through most of the file transfer but failed saying:
ERROR: Transfer Failed.
TFTPD32.EXE said something like "Data Packet too Short or some such thing". Sorry did not write down what TFTPD32.EXE said.
Then we thought "may be" a power cycle of the unit is required after the ER Boot Loader Image was loaded. When we did that the unit died. That is - no communication with the Serial Port. We don't think we have any choice other than RMA - Do we?
Customer says he did read and follow this link - especially Table 10-1. {URL}. He said he used NCS to do the Upgrade. I a not familiar with NCS.

Nov 5, 2012We have 3 5508 WLCs (A, B, & C) and several LAPs (1140, 3500, 3600). The APs learn the controllers IP addresses through DHCP Option 43. When we setup a new site we put the IP address of the controller we want the AP to join first. Lately, I've noticed that regardless of which WLC IP I put first when I setup Option 43 the LAPs are always joining a particular controller.

Feb 21, 2012Suddenly after more than a year of running fine, my wap seems to be giving all clients a bad DNS suffix which of course breaks DNS resolution internally (no problem with internet resolution). I assume it's a wap problem since all of my wired clients receive the correct suffix. I'm using a RVS4000 router if that makes any difference.

I have it configured with two SSIDs, one corporate (802.1x) one using WPA2 Personal.
I have no issues on the corporate, but I have found that Apple devices appear to detect it as a WPA2 Enterprise, and request a username and password.
If I enter the network manualy as WPA2Personal the devices joins the network ok. Then ocasionaly the device looses its link to the network and fails to pass traffic.

Some of wireless clients having problem to get the correct IP address from the DHCP server. There are 2 units of Microsoft DHCP. Both DHCP server ip have been configured on the Interface at the WLC. The core switch also being configured with ip helper. I've attached the debug output of one of the wireless client during the problem.

On server we have samba, http and FTP.We tried to download file from server via http/ftp and samba and the maximum speed we get about 23 Mbit/s. It is really very poor performance for 802.11n standard.We tried different firmware versions for WAP4410N and settings (20 and 40 MHz, N only and etc).We replaced WAP4410N with WRT610N and get about 85-100Mbit/s in the same enviroment.

So far they have worked without a hitch but the throughput is less than stellar and I was wondering what the recommended configuration was for best performance (and how much speed could be expected in general) out of these two? The two nodes are separated by about 25 yards across a parking lot with direct LoS to the other, placed inside a window mounted on the wall -elevated at about 10' so cars in the lot outside do not block visibility. At best the throughput I've seen is 1megabyte/sec, and that seems very slow/clunky to me for the 802.11n specification. Am I missing some setting, updated firmware, or physical setup (AC power instead of PoE for better antenna output maybe?) to have such limited performance?

Feb 29, 2012I have a E3000 with newest firmware that has a VOIP by Velcom. It's a Grand stream HT–286.My device is working perfectly with the router. Can call and recieve calls. the caller ID (Name and number that appears is accurate). The only problem is the caller ID's time and date are always wrong.When I unplug device, it goes back to Jan 1 and time 12:00am.Any call I then get is wrong.
In the router, I've enabled SIP ALG. And the firewall is only filtering ident (port 113) and Anonymous Internet requests.The device has a hard coded internal IP (192.168.123.110). and I reserve the IP using mac filtering.The device has an administration page that is unavailable to users as it's locked by a password. On this page has an NTP server setting that the device uses to get it's time/date.I see on the information page of the device that iot's registered to a sip server.The company is saying that it's a firewall issue. I'm not too sure how to proceed.
Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Update DynDNS With Wrong IP Address

Environment: Internet (external IP say 24.x.x.x) ISP provided modem+router (192. 168. 1.x/ 24 IPTV network) E4200 (192.168.0.x/24 my home network).
The DDNS option page did report update succefully and shown the external IP address correctly on the page, however when I login to dynDNS it shows 192.168.1.x, which is the E4200 IP dhcp from the ISP's router.I know that it's double NAT, but the 192.168.1x/24 subnet is the IPTV subnet, and my old Dlink router did support and update the dynDNS entry properly.

Jan 19, 2012I'd like to add a WRT54g2 to my LAN. I'd like it to communicate with my existing LAN router, and not to talk directly to the LAN. Therefore, in Basic Setup, I don't have the top part (Internet Setup) configured. Is that a mistake?But, it seems that when I enable DHCP, it hands out its own IP as gateway, and then doesn't seem to send the traffic on upstream. When I configure clients manually with the real router IP, they work fine.
So, I'd like, I guess, Linksys to forward traffic on a static route to real router. How do I do this? Adding a route to real router yields the error, "maybe default route already exists."
