Aug 29, 2012
I have a problem with my WRT54G V8 router.I download a wrong Firmware and upgrade it.After this my router never work again. The PC can't get IP from the router.I tried a lot of time to access to the web admin 192.168.1.1 and other IP and nothing happen.I made a lot of reset cycles, with the procedures 30/30/30 or other with the reset button in combination with the power cord.
Exist any other possibility to recover my router. Can I open and touch other button inside the board or something like this?
I was just online when all of a sudden i lost connection. I have a WRT54G V8 and did a quick little browse and found out it could be corrupted firmware. When i download the firmware it wants to download as a .bin file and open VLC Media player!? How do i change this or what do I need to open it with?
I was playing with the router/gateway settings on my WRT54G v3.1 router.... and I managed to hose it. I tried power cycling/ resetting it will not route my traffic through anymore...although i can still get to the setup menu.I am trying to download the firmware to flash it but.
A) the site says that for this v3.1 router I need to use the ancient firmware 4.21.1 and
B) the link to the firmware does not work !!! it downloads an empty zip file url...
linksys support, if you are listening, please restore the link to the firmware so I can try and fix my router.
My Linksys WRT54G router has been dropping out lately and I've been recommended to update its firmware as it is very out-of-date. Well, everytime I try to upgrade the firmware to it, I get an error message that says "the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." I'm trying to upgrade the firmware through the router's site 192.168.1.1 under the adminstration tab
I have a wrt54g (8.1) that was acting a little funny so did some googling and followed the instructions to install new firmware. First the installation failed, double checked to make sure I downloaded the correct file (FW_WRT54G_8.1.09.02_US_20071227.bin), did a reset and power cycle. Checked the information again and everything on the router setup completely disappeared.
I have a 4200V2 acting as a Router and (2) more E4200V2's acting as Access Points,The E4200V2 acting as the Router is at Firmware 2.0.37, but, the other Access Points are at Firmware 184.108.40.206507 and when I try to have the Firmware Upgrade Utility in Setup update the Firmware it gives me this message:"Current Version: 220.127.116.11507Available Upgrade: Your router software is up to date"Where is the downloadable Firmware 2.0.7 located? How do I upgrade the Firmware Manually to 2.0.7 and should I ?
I have tried to upgrade the firmware to the latest greatest but keep getting the "Incorrect image file" error. I bought two of the V1 units and had no trouble with one of them but the other is frustrating me. I have reset it and even tried a tftp upgrade of the firmware but still get "Incorrect image file" even in tftp.
I ran the firmware upgrade and hit the reset button for 30 seconds and everything went well until I went to restore my personal settings. When I went to the router page it asked for a user name and password but the old user name and password don't work so I am locked out and can't get to the restore page.
I'm attempting to upgrade to firmware 5.00.38 for my WRT54G-TM router, but it keeps telling me "upgrade failed" after like 3-4 seconds of trying. It says I currently have firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/13/09) mega - build 12288. I've tried restetting to factory defaults before upgrading
I tried to upgrade firmware (I entered my model number WRT54G and hardware version 2 into Cisco menu and downloded the upgrade file they provided. My version was v2.02.7, downloded file FW_WRT54Gv4_4.21.5.000_20120220.bin . After I run the upgrade it said upgrade failed. After that I can't connect to internet and can't access the router. I tried to reset it and unplug it- no luck. From my PC control panel I see local area connections status connected, but as I said, it does not connect to Internet.
I'm currently trying to upgrade my linksys WRT54G v1.1 router using the WRT54G-EU_fw,0 file, however when I press upgrade it comes up with a message saying "Incorrect Image File!". The current firmware version is v1.42.2 Is there any way to fix this so I can upgrade it?
-One WRT54G ver. 6, Firmware Version v1.028 -One WRT54G ver. 6, Firmware Version v2.x
With the WRT54G ver. 6, Firmware Version v1.028.When I ran the android app WiFi Analyzer, I get mixed results. On my Samsung Galaxy S3, I saw my signal on Channel 2, and others around me (two on Channel 6 and two on Channel 11).On my ASUS Transformer Prime TFT201 I see the same signals, but my router signal bounces continously between the baseline (-100dBm?) and about -35dBm.
Plugged in the WRT54G ver. 2, Firmware Version v2.x Channel 8.Hooked it up and got good steady signal strength. It Had 'WPA - Shared Key' but did not have the 'WPA - Personal' that was on the ver. 6. So, I had to go and screw things up. I've upgraded this to Firmware Version: v4.21.5 and guess what? I now have 'WPA - Personal'. I also have a signal is bouncing on BOTH units.
On my ASUS, I can see both routers. The ver. 2 AND the ver. 6 are bouncing between baseline and -35dBm, in unison. Apprently something in the ASUS does not like the later Firmwares. On my Samsung I can see the two signals - the ver. 2 on Channel 8 is stable as a rock and the ver. 6 on Channel 2 is also bouncing, but at a much slower rate! Running Speedtest.net a PC hardwired to the ver. 2 - I get 5.34 Mb/s Download and 0.47 Mb/s upload (yeah, my Internet sucks!) Running Speedtest.net through the ASUS/WiFi to the ver. 2 - I get 2.43 Mb/s Down and 0.65 Mb/s Up.Running Speedtest.net through the Samsung/WiFi to the ver. 2 - I get 5.07 Mb/s Down and 1.07 Mb/s Up.
I was in the process of upgrading the firmware on my Linksys WRT54G router when a connection interruption occurred. Now, the router will not boot up and I cannot communicate with it.Is there a way to reset the firmware?
i have a linksys wrt54g ver6 router. i want to upgrade the firmware. so i went to dd-wrt.com typed in my router. then i found it on there list, selected it and upon reviewing it, it sucked ram 8mb flash 2mb. looking through the linksys versions, ver2 was the best one ram 32mb flash 8mb. so can i use ver2 firware on my ver6 router?
i try to upgrade acs 5.2 with the patch 5-2-0-26-1.tar.tar.Firstly it is not the correct extension when downloading the file from the download software area.then when I enter "patch install 5-2-0-26-3.tar.tar FTP" I get the following error message:
I tried to find a suitable firmware for it & found this, Wireless Router, but when I upgrade the device with this firmware , every thing go wrong .. no english language cant upgrade anymore I tried to reset the device to its factory defaults by pressing the reset botumn but the nothing changes
I own a Linksys BEFSR41 v 3.1. I've been attempting to set up a home network with three computers; my main desktop running Windows 7 Pro x64, a netbook running the same OS and a box running Windows Home Server 2011 x64. The firmware listed for my router was initially 1.05.03.
My router has the issue with resetting its administrative password to the factory default and I've been unable to set up remote access to my LAN and home server. I decided to try updating the router's firmware, but none of the versions listed fit the one I have. The label on my router says v 3.1, but Cisco's site only has a 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, then skips to 4.1, 4.2, etc. The instructions on the site warn not to use a version for a different model, but are vague as to exactly what that refers to, as the model # and the version # aren't clearly delineated.
Anyway, I tried using the latest firmware and received the, "File Pattern," error. Although it didn't seem like anything had changed, I reset the router just to be safe, then tried the v 3.0 firmware update, thinking that the software was intended for all revisions of v3.0. This time it reported updating without a problem, so I reset the router again and went back to the admin page in my browser to check the firmware version listed. To my annoyance, the firmware is now listed as 1.05.00 - i.e. an earlier version than what was shipped on the router.
This means that not only is the issue of the password resetting not fixed, but any other fixes included in the original firmware are now wiped out as well and, needless to say, I still can't set up remote access properly.
How do I restore the firmware version? Neither a reset nor a, "Restore to Factory Defaults," does this. How do I find an actual update for the router? I can't find any mention of a v 3.1 on Cisco's site, let alone support information specific to this model and version.
V18.104.22.168551 is now available. I did the online upgrade and it took just a couple of minutes including the reboot. The firmware is not available as a download yet for manual install. This firmware is dated 11/14/11 so it doesn't appear to correct the Port 53 issue reported earlier.Release Date: Nov 14, 2011 Firmware version: v2.0.26 (Build 124551) - Support for the WAN L2TP and PPTP protocols
Where can I download the 2.0.36 firmware?I flashed it through the UI but since the factiry fw is crap I want to try the third party firmware that are available but I want to make sure there is a path back to factory version in case I need to return the product.
I have upgraded the firmware on my Linksys BEFSR41 V4.3 router. On this router i used Statis IP (so DHCP enabled). This worked fine on my network, until this upgrade. Now when i try to ad another static IP , or when i want to change something in the Routing-tab, i get this message ' Wrong Gateway Input! It should be the same subnet with WAN IP'. Strange because i haven't changed anything in the settings.I already did a complete reset on the router, still the same problem.
link to the original v1.0.0 firmware for the E4200. That was the best firmware for me and sadly I can't find a link to go back. v1.0.0 really had no problems for me. I initially skipped v1.0.1 becuase it disabled IPv6 which is a feature I want. v1.0.2 broke my YouTube and Netflix streaming. So I went back to v1.0.1 and my Netflix and YouTubue steaming returned to normal but I lost IPv6.
Any solution to Netflix and YouTube streaming problem on v1.0.2 when IPv6 is configured. (I'm positive the video is streaming over IPv4, but the IPv6 connectivity is available.)
I go to the support page for the WRT54G routers. I set the version number to version 2 and there is no firmware file to download. For every other version there is a firmware file to download but not for version 2. Where can I get the latest firmware for my router.
