Cisco Wireless :: Aironet 1262N Stuck During Boot Process
May 2, 2013
why my AIR-AP1262N-A-K9 will not boot all the way. It will get all the way to initiating the interfaces and stop. I can never get to controlling the cli. This is my first time with a cisco ap but from everything that I read it seamed very easy.
This unit from what I understand will work all on its own with no controller. Hence it is called a "standalone" model. Yet it seems to be looking for something to finish during the boot. Below is the out put during boot. The last line is where it stops.

According to the documentation, I'm supposed to be hitting the Esc key when I see the Loading "flash:/[imagename]" ####### ... line, but this doesn't seem to be working. I've tried hitting the Esc key a lot during those lines, holding it down, hitting it early, hitting it late, hitting it in the middle, and still no joy.
I'm trying to break into a handful of malfunctioning 1242AG APs to see if I can get them working, or if they're faulting hardware that's beyond repair. (So far they're all coming back with: no "IP_ADDR" variable set, so how to set that without breaking out of the boot cycle).
I want to connect two buildings. Let's call them Building A (main) and Building B.
„A“ is the main building and provides a wired LAN to an AAA server (192.168.1.2) and the WAN gateway (192.168.1.1). There I placed a 1262N with the IP 192.168.1.3 connected to the wired LAN and configured it as Root-Bridge. Let's call it AP01.
„B“ is a pretty large building and has a wired LAN from one end to the other end. So I placed two 1262N there, each at one end.
The first 1262N is configured as non-root Bridge (AP02) and connects to the Root Bridge (AP01). The IP address of AP02 is 192.168.1.4.
The second 1262N is configured as Access Point (AP03) and connects to the non-root Bridge (AP02) via the wired LAN. The IP adress of AP03 is 192.168.1.5
My Questions:
1. Do I need tell AP02 about the AAA Server in Building A or acts AP01 like a AAA Proxy for AP02 because of it Root Bridge functionality?
2. How Do I tell AP03 that it should use AP02 as a gateway to building A?

I have a problem getting my ASA 5520 boot properly. I first though of a flash problem and did a flash erase in ROMMON, then it brought error 15 during boot (No images found in / Error 15: File not found). I then TFTPied and image from Rommon, when done loading the image and start booting, the system hangs and nothing else. Attached is the screen I got on my console during boot up. BTW, the system was in the same state before I undertook any of the above actions. I don't have a service contract, so I can't contact TAC.
an Aironet 1252 which is failing on boot. When power on the access-point shows the error below.
WARNING: A memory error occurred during the system start-up self-test. The device must be serviced if the error persists.
The following commands can, optionally, be used to initialize the flash file system and the TFTP file transfer system:
But when this happen, I can start the IOS manually doing flash_init and boot in ROMMON. After do this commands, the access-point starts and works normally.
How can I check and correct the memory and solve this issue?
document which explians normal booting sequence in a 6500 Switch running IOS. What I am looking for is in which order the image is loaded in SUP, RP, SP etc
I have installed an Aironet 1130AG and utilized a power injector for the power source. I have the settings configured correctly in IOS, but the AP takes about 7 minutes to come on (illuminate LED status lights) once the Ethernet cable is connected. Is this 7 minute power-on delay normal when using POE? I am used to the instanteous "on" that usually comes with Cisco products being connected directly to the AC adapter.
I have a 5010 that simply won't load any system image. Loads the kickstart image just fine, but once at the Switch(boot)# prompt just give me garbage when I enter "load bootflash:n5000-uk9.5.1.3.N2.1b.bin Restarting system.
Loader Version pr-1.3 loader> dirbootflash: lost+found n5000-uk9-kickstart.5.2.1.N1.1b.bin n5000-uk9.5.2.1.N1.1b.bin n5000-uk9-kickstart.5.1.3.N2.1b.bin n5000-uk9.5.1.3.N2.1b.bin
I have two core switches - 4506E, and i noticed there are frequent cpu spikes on both of the cores switches. As its spikes intermitendly i couldnt able to anlyze the issue. I need inputs on the following,
1) Is there any Free CPU process monitoring tools to identify which process is spiking ?
2) Troubleshooting techniques to identify the issue.
I have a Cisco 5500 Software Version 6.0.199.4. Today I've been able to succesfully add a few newly purchased 1242G APs to my WC so I know everything is setup properly. They got the proper DHCP info and I was up and running in a few minutes.
I'm now trying the same thing with a newly purchased Air-Lap1262N-a-KP
I can read the bootup because I'm attached to it on the console.I see that it gets the proper IP#
But then I keep getting a "failed to decode the discovery response" error.
We have a couple of autonomous 1262's that I'd like to get configured. I would like to put the Ethernet interface out on our Internet subnet and have the clients get a RFC 1918 address from the radio's. Our little Linksys is setup this way and the clients are PAT'ing off the Ethernet interface when they go to the Internet.
Is this possible with these guys or do I have to put the AP ethernet interface into the same subnet with the DHCP scope? I don't have enough Internet IP's to hand out to every wireless client.
does wlc 2504 support air-ap 1262n-e-k9.if yes does the air-ap1262n need any upgrade or sometine to join the controller, this is versions & image for both AP & WLC2504: [code] and the below what i configure for my topology WLC connected to switch by Trunk linke allow all vlans.AP connected to switch by access mode for vlan 20. the IP address sechma :
I have many 1262N and 1031AG APs. when the client is connected to the AP 1262N the performance is slower than it is connected to AP 1031AG (with more clients) in 2.4GHz.
I got new cisco aironet 1262n Dual band Access-point running IOS version 12.4(23c)JA .my question is does this access-point support 40 MHz channel width on the 2.4 Band on any IOS version as the command "Channel width" under interface dot11radio 0 allow only 20 MHz
A Customer has a 1262N-WGB connected via LWAPP to a 5508 Controller.(7.2.x.x)Behind the WGB they have a no-name switch and connected to that two D-Link cameras.I am not able to ping these cameras. When I connect my laptop to that switch it is no problem. I am getting an IP and the laptop is pingable. The cameras are also getting an IP, I see them for 5 to 10 seconds as clients on the WGB on the WLCI tried all that stuff with "passive client", arp entry on WLC and Layer 3 switch, but still no luck! Also the entry on the WGB "bridge 1 address MAC fortwarf Gig 0Solutions?Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App
I would like to start setting up a Cisco Wireless Lan Controller 5508 with some Cisco 1262n AP's. How to start setting this to take advantage of having this wireless lan controller? I have a DHCP server, a Cisco 6509, and Cisco 3750g that connects the access points. I have Vlan 50 for wireless access points.
I have two 1262N access points with 5Ghz antennas, and I have configured one of them as a root bridge and the other as a non-root bridge; both using the same ssid. I have enble both dott11Radio interfaces on each access point. The problem I am having is that they do not associate. I have not configured them for any encryption or security. I just want to make sure the connect before I add any other configuration. Is there anything else that I need to configure to make them associate.
I am trying to enable the workgroup bridge mode on the 5ghz 802.11N radio of a Aironet 1262N, but when I select the workgroup bridge mode from the GUI the radio becomes disabled. If I select the Access Point role from the GUI then the radio instantly becomes enabled. The same thing happens if I attempt the same procedure with the 2.4ghz radio as well. I can get the radios from both bands enabled if I select the Access Point role. I made sure to check that both radios were not set to workgroup bridge as well. I am running 12.4(25d)JA1 code on the AP. This is my first time working with this type of AP.
I have setup a WiFi bridge using two Cisco 1262n AP. I was able to get the bridge up and running for a little while. But soon after I plugged in a switch on the non root side of the bridge, the LAN on the root side started slowing and user were getting disconnected from the network. I suspect the Spanning Tree issue with the Bridge.
Couple questions:
I am using both the 2.4 and the 5Ghz bands for the Bridge. I assume that this was OK and was needed to get the highest throughput, right?
I was making an assumption that the AP would take into account the possible spanning tree issues automatically when both bands are used in the same bridge. Is assumption correct? If not what is the correct configuration for spanning tree on a wireless bridge that uses 2.4 and 5 bands?
I foolishly put this 1262 into Bridge mode. The AP didn't accept that.
It had been joined to a 5508 running 7.2.110.0 and was running fine.
I've loaded on ap3g1-rcvk9w8-tar.124-23c.JA5.tar using the archive download-sw /overwrite /force-reload tftp://10.192.175.119//ap3g1-rcvk9w8-tar.124-23c.JA5.tar command.
When the AP reboots it has retained it's hostname from its CAPWAP days and indicates it is in DISCOVERY: %CAPWAP-5-CHANGED: CAPWAP changed state to DISCOVERY.
It gets a DHCP IP but never tries to find a controller. DNS on the subnet resolves CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTROLLER (& lwapp) to the 5508 mentioned above. I use this port for priming all my APs.
Are there other residual files in nvram: or flash: I need to remove? Is this thing now just a fancy paperweight?
I'm trying to do some basic troubleshooting on our WiSMS. Some clients on a working network are unable to connect in the afternoons, debugging the client on the wism shows this message:
*apfMsConnTask_2: Dec 05 14:23:44.018: Association request from the P2P Client Process P2P Ie and Upadte CB
It keeps repeating with the Task_X changing. What does that mean?We have two controllers in our 6500's running this software ver. 7.3.101.0
I have a wireless network infrastructure that is controlled by two WLC 5508s, Prime NCS and ISE. I have two networks for my users, an employee network and a student network. I started publishing the information for these networks via a group policy and the settings are identical, with the exception to the SSID.
My employees can logon to the employee network with no problems. I can walk up to any laptop, regardless if I have logged on to it before or not, and logon with no issues. ISE correctly profiles my account and authorizes me for the right profile. My students however are another story. Laptops that are designated for student use have the wireless network in their network list, and at the logon it shows that it will attempt to connect to the STUDENTS network. When I enter in a student username and password, it begins to login but then gives an error that says:
'There are currently no logon servers available to process the logon request'
The students cannot login at all. I can use my domain admin or my account and login to one of the units with no problem, even if I haven't logged onto the unit before with that account.
I don't know if this is an ISE issue or some other type of issue. I'm leaning towards ISE being the issue, since its what is passing authentication through to the domain. I have my students all in groups and I have those groups added to ISE, just like I have my employees added.
I plan on replacing my linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router with a new linksys WRT120N wireless router. Should I completely remove and unplug the old router before inserting the startup CD and beginning the installation process for the new router?
I'm trying to "resurect" an old wireless network made with Cisco Aironet 1100. One of the AP has lost its IOS (due to an error while trying to upgrade it through the web interface)
I tried to reload it with the "mode button". I can see in my TFTP server logs that the AP is downloading the IOS but nothing happens and the AP keep being stuck (leds are : red/green/red)
i have a problem with 1552E to register with 5508 WLC, and always got "AAA authentication error” in the WLC log, while AAA is not enabled. so my question is , do i need to add the MAC address to the WLC MAC filter list even if i not enable the AAA server in the WLC.
Can't connect to my own Wireless Network? My Gateway Laptop network key is stuck with an old password? It seems to accept new password but never does connect, and when I retry, there's the old password back again, which I don't remember and was for the other modem. Have tried deleting the Realtec Wireless Adapter and reinstalling but the old password still returns? Tried renaming Wireless Network but old password still returns? Tried accessing Registry with no luck. Only way the Laptop can access is to leave Wireless Network Open/Unsecured, but that's not an option.
My work wireless network is stuck on identifying. It works for ALL other computers in the office. It works when I am wired to the router. I've tried most things that forums tell me to do. Below is the IP config. It is only this network and one other. Both are provided by verizon if that makes any difference.

For some strange reason my wireless card can only connect to the router if I do not use any security or if I use wep-open. If I try to use a wpa-psk it will not connectIn the past I was able to use wpa with no problem. I am also able to view other wireless routers around me and can see the different securities they use, but if I change my router to wpa then my wireless adapter can and will not notice the change and I can not connect to my wireless router which is same brand
The PW has been changed, I got the new one correct but upon entering it on my laptop it goes around circle showing,"Wireless network detected" and then,"Unable to connect to preferred wireless network".It never works. I don''know haw to fix this problem. It did not happen on my iPad.
