Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5520 Hangs During Boot Process

May 8, 2011

I have a problem getting my ASA 5520 boot properly. I first though of a flash problem and did a flash erase in ROMMON, then it brought error 15 during boot (No images found in / Error 15: File not found). I then TFTPied and image from Rommon, when done loading the image and start booting, the system hangs and nothing else. Attached is the screen I got on my console during boot up. BTW, the system was in the same state before I undertook any of the above actions. I don't have a service contract, so I can't contact TAC.

Cisco Wireless :: Aironet 1262N Stuck During Boot Process

May 2, 2013

why my AIR-AP1262N-A-K9 will not boot all the way. It will get all the way to initiating the interfaces and stop. I can never get to controlling the cli. This is my first time with a cisco ap but from everything that I read it seamed very easy.

This unit from what I understand will work all on its own with no controller. Hence it is called a "standalone" model. Yet it seems to be looking for something to finish during the boot. Below is the out put during boot. The last line is where it stops.

Cisco Wireless :: Interrupting Boot Process On Aironet 1242AG AP?

Mar 15, 2012

According to the documentation, I'm supposed to be hitting the Esc key when I see the Loading "flash:/[imagename]" ####### ... line, but this doesn't seem to be working.  I've tried hitting the Esc key a lot during those lines, holding it down, hitting it early, hitting it late, hitting it in the middle, and still no joy.

I'm trying to break into a handful of malfunctioning 1242AG APs to see if I can get them working, or if they're faulting hardware that's beyond repair.  (So far they're all coming back with: no "IP_ADDR" variable set, so how to set that without breaking out of the boot cycle).

Cisco :: How To Set Up To 851W Router

Oct 24, 2012

I am very new to using the CISCO IOS. Here is the situation: I have a CISCO 851W router in the garage that I want to connect to my Linksys router in the office, which is connected to the internet. The 851W is connected from it's WAN port to Lan port 1 of the Linksys router. Now, currently that ethernet cable is a straight-through cable. Does it have to be crossover? If so, I can fix that.So I have no idea how to give the 851W internet access I am a total CISCO noob. I will leave it to you guys to recommend what IP to assign the router and subnet.

Linksys Wired Router :: How To Backup Complete Configuration Of BEFSR41 V3

Apr 6, 2009

I have finally been able to reconfigure my BEFSR41 V3 Wired Router to properly support my small server environment.  I would like to know if there is a way to make a complete Backup of the current configuration that should be restored to the router if it should become "reset" to factory defaults.  This happened to me approximately a week ago, and it took several days, a couple of phone support calls, and quite a bit of"grief" and aggravation/frustration before I managed to get everything re-configured correctly.  If it had been "Backed up" to a file, I could have restored it and been back up and serving websites in a few hours.  Instead it took almost a complete week!  Is it even possible to actually backup the router?  Or... must I just print each screen to be sure I get it all?

Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WRT310N) / Cannot Complete The Network Setup Wizard

Oct 2, 2011

I have two PCs connected to each other through a Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WRT310N). One PC is running Windws XP while the other is running Windows 7. At this point I do not have, or want, Internet connectivity. I would, however, like to call web pages on the Windows 7 PC from the Windows XP PC. The Windows 7 PC has php files that run C++ files to analyze files supplied by the Windows XP PC and I would like to send the results of the analysis back to the XP PC.The reason for this is that I am setting up a home based web site that allows users to run programs on my Windows 7 PC but I want to keep hackers from accessing files on my Windows 7 PC. So the XP will be connected directly to the Internet and the Windows 7 PC will only be connected to the XP PC.I can successfully ping both ways between the Windows 7 PC and XP PC. So I fire up FireFox (FF) on the XP PC and type the following in the FF URL box.

[code]....

The same happens when I replace the Windows 7 PC IP address with the Windows 7 PC name.I tried to set up a network between the two PCs with the MS network wizard on the XP box. It made a setup disk with a single file on it. I was supposed to run the setup file on the other PCs that are supposed to be on the network but, whe I did, I got the following message.Cannot complete the Network Setup Wizard,An error occurred during the configuration of the network on this computer. You can configure the network manually.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Complete Setup On WRT54GS And Connect To Internet

Jul 27, 2011

I've recently been gifted with a WRT54GS v.2 which came from a family member who upgraded their wireless router and therefore passed this one along to me.  It was working perfectly for them, but not me.

I've tried using the setup CD and doing a manual setup, but no internet connection is detected.  I must confess to being a total wireless router newbie, this is my first one, so I am stumped as what to do next.  I've looked at the FAQ's and through the forum as well, but I just don't know what might apply to my situation and as I am not very well versed in the terminology, I tend to get lost.

If I do: #monitor session 1 source interface fa 4      (wan port)

i get the response invalid input detected however if I do the same command for fa 1, fa ,2 and fa 3 they work

Using the ? shows the valid entries are [0-4] for fastethernet

I just want to monitor WAN traffic with WireShark, particularly DDNS requests, with a spare PC connected to a free lan port.

I would use a hub on the Wan connection but unfortunately I do not have one at the moment.

Cisco :: 851W Initial Setup / SDM Wizard Fails

Jun 21, 2011

I bought a Cisco 851W router from a coworker about a year ago and tried setting it up at my home with nothing but headaches. I finally gave up and went with DD-WRT and have yet to look back (my $40 router outperforms this thing on so many levels, but I'm getting off-topic!). I recently re-discovered this beast and pulled it out of storage to see if I could get a test network setup at home to practice on. I checked for any IOS updates and downloaded (and installed) the lastest image (c850-advsecurityk9-mz.124-15.T15.bin). I consoled in and verified the initial 10.10.10.1 IP was configured in the VLAN1 interface and directly connected a PC to one of the switchports and pulled a 10.10.10.2 address. I pull up SDM from my browser (I have used FF, IE, and Chrome, all with the same results. Java version is the latest, 6 Update 26.) and it launches the initial configuration wizard. I go through the steps and get up to the DHCP Configuration (after LAN, before Internet/WAN setup) and try to click Next and nothing happens. It doesn't freeze as I can easily go Back, but can never move forward beyond the DHCP configuration. Pressing Cancel on the wizard just shuts down SDM as a whole and exits.

In my troubleshooting steps, I did notice that as soon as I click Next in the DHCP configuration, nothing will happen in the wizard, but the SDM window in the background will automatically present the "Apply Changes" and "Discard Changes" buttons, which weren't there in the previous steps. Of course, neither of those are clickable due to the wizard being open. I really don't want to configure this thing from scratch using the CLI if I don't have to..is there ANY way I can bypass the SDM Wizard at all? Also, I'm running SDM Express, would downloading ASDM and trying to connect from there make any difference?

Cisco WAN :: 851W DDNS Updates Produce Name Resolution Errors

Feb 11, 2011

I have been trying to get my 851W to work with DDNS for a long while now. In fact I walked away from the problem in frustration and loaded DD Client on a Linux box until I had time to re-visit this. The folks at Zone Edit were not able to offer much with CLI problems.

When I debug DDHS updates I get to a point where the the router tries to resolve the DDNS update address and fails. So I have a number of questions:

a) Is this error the result of lack of DNS server names written to the config?

b) My WAN interface is a DHCP client to my modem. If the DDNS updater does need to resolve a name, shouldn't the DNS server info be provided by the DHCP process for the WAN interface? How do I ensure that name servers are automatically assigned for the DDNS updater to use?

How To Get Complete Privacy On One Internet Line

Dec 11, 2011

We have Comcast cable (I believe) and it comes into a modem. The modem has a line out to an ethernet switch. Coming into the E switch is a line from the Upstairs router (Realtek PCIe GBE).I want MY computer to be completely private from the rest of the family, and be invisible if someone were looking. (I'm mom and I keep my frustration journal on my Microsoft Word). I don't want to use wireless.

So, I bought a Belkin N150 and put it between my computer and the switch, and the internet didn't work at all. However, if I use a line that comes from the Realtek router, it works. I am SO confused! (I found out that if you are hooked to the same router as the others in the house, they just have to be smart enough to configure that router and they can see everything you do on your computer!)

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA6500 Process Got Interrupted Approximately 90% In Setup

Dec 27, 2012

After struggling with the setup of my new EA6500, I finally succeed in setting it up. Like other people in this forum, the setup process got interrupted approx., 90% in the setup process. After several factory resets and new setups, I finally was able to login locally to fulfill the setup and upgrade the firmware to 1.1.28.146072). After that, I do have wireless access, but the connection to my LAN connected NAS (Synology), is really really slow. Furthermore, when I try to use airplay to connect to my Airport express it drops out and starts blinking yellow? Finally, from time to time when I log in, I get the "No router found" message (can't remember the exact text). After a reboot I'm able to login. To me it seems that the firmware/router still is filled with a lots of bugs. I think I will downgrade to my old E4200, during the next couple of days, and return the EA6500.
