I have a 2112 wlc and 6 1142ap's. I noticed that the 2.4ghz channel is filled with lots of networks but the 5.0ghz area is empty. I tried to manually change the channel but it keeps reverting back to 2.4.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a trouble with using iTunes, iPhones and iPads on our Wireless LAN. We have the 2112 WLC and 10 1142N WAPs. If I do a network scan, I can see the Apple TV and see that port 5353 is open, which is Apple's Bonjour service. However, if I try to play music/video in iTunes, or on an iPhone/iPad, I do not see the Airplay icon. If I plug into the LAN, the Airplay icon appears immediately. I have created an allow all rule in the ACL but still no dice.

We recently purchased a 2112 WLC, running version 6.0.199.4. I have everything running through a single port on the controller, which is connected to a trunk port on our 3750 stack. Our management VLAN is vlan 40, and AP is plugged into another port on the same switch which is an access port in vlan 40. APs appear in the controller ok, receive an IP address, but we aren't able to connect to any of the WLANs and periodically the APs will disassociate with the following messages: [code] I'm not sure if that's related to why we can't connect to the WLANs or not...
Another wrinkle is that if we plug in the AP directly to one of the PoE ports on the controller, it all works perfectly. I'm guessing its something switch-related since the only difference is that we're not going through the switch when it works.
I've read some opinions that lowering the RTS threshold can facilitate in some noisy wireless environments. I have found how this can be done on standalone APs but cant seem to implement the change on a WLC 2112. How to do it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe are having a 2112 WLC and LAP1042 access points and facing a client disconnection issue. Also signal strength is varying even when client is at steady position. We have a single SSID structure and clients are connecting through 802.1x authentication with WPA2. Access points are joined in H-REAP mode. We also tried by creating a new SSID with open authentication and even on that SSID signal stregnth is varying and client is getting limited connectivity. Attached are the debugs for a particular client and the show tech support for WLC.

My access points are nine (9) lap1231ag and one (1) lap1310.I just have one wlan (ssid). My scenario of deployment is in layer 3. I have one interface management and ap manager in the WLC. All my Access Points have differents ip address that WLC. I need to configure a unique ssid to associate my six (6) dynamics interfaces (each dymanic interface with different vlan subnet).Each wlan profile (ssid) should have the same security in phase 2 (wpa2/psk). I have to show my office that i can control two ari lap 1041n-k9 with my WLC 2112 and my laptop's wifi and cellphone's wifi are able to get connected with the Access points.
I have a client with a 2112 WLC and 1252AG radios. The clients work fine, but an SNMP management server can not reach any of the clients over the wireless. Before the WLC and new AP's were installed, they were running older Cisco Autonomous AP's and had no problems with SNMP. My monitoring system uses SNMP and it can reach the WLC just fine, so there doesnt appear to be any issues on the switched network. What can be blocking the SNMP on the WLC?

"Each interface is mapped to at least one primary port, and some interfaces (management and dynamic) can be mapped to an optional secondary (or backup) port. If the primary port for an interface fails, the interface automatically moves to the backup port. In addition, multiple interfaces can be mapped to a single controller port."
But nowhere can I find where it says how exactly to do it. Google seaches have come up empty as well. I am connecting the WLC to a 3750 stack, and would like to have a secondary port from the WLC connected to the second node of the 3750 stack. So far I have connected port 1 (management) of the WLC to a port on node 1 of the stack which is configured as a trunk and everything is workign fine. I have also connected port 2 from the WLC to a port on node 2 in the stack that is configured the same as the port on node one. how to tell the WLC to use port 2 as the management backup if needed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been having some connectivity problems and one suggested solution was to upgrade networking firmware. I did this for our router (Cisco RVS4000 v2) and it didn't work, so I moved on to the wireless access points (two WAP4410N). Before doing that, I also reset both to factory default settings - neither would respond to pressing the reset button but it seemed to work using the web interface for both.
Before I did anything to the WAP4410Ns, I noticed they were connected in B/G/N-Mixed mode to channel 6. Now the wireless network mode is stuck on Disable. I can choose B/G/N-Mixed from the dropdown list, but can't choose a channel - the dropdown list for that is empty. And if I try to choose Save after choosing B/G/N-Mixed, it reverts to Disable.

Two are used as RAPs and face east and west respectively with directional antennas and two MAPs on each side with omni antennas. The RAPs are within 20 feet of each other. I set the bridge group name as east or west depending on which side of the mesh the equipment is located but noticed the downlink channel is set to 56 on both RAPs. I don't remember setting the channel for the RAPs, but they aren't using the global DCA.Would best practice be to change the downlink to unique channels on the RAPs, enable DCA (if it will let me), or is a unique bridge group name sufficient enough?

All of them are set to 802.11b/g/n mode. 2 of these units are used to provide non-secured internet access to patients and are using channel 7. The other AP is for our private network secured using WPA2/AES operating on channel 1. There are several other access points in our proximity using channel 6 and I'm trying to minimize interference.When selecting wireless mode 802.11 b/g/n I have only channels 1-7 to choose from. What I really want to do is change our public wlan to use channel 11 to avoid the other business's AP which are using channel 6.
Should I be using a different mode altogether? In your expereince which mode will provide the best transmission rates and range?
In our mesh network. there are 8 root AP and 15 mesh AP . we are using 1552E ,i have few questions on it:
1. If the ap's acting as mesh ap are connected with only 2.4 ghz external antenna, will they have problem joining the root access point to form mesh.
2. How should we set the channel assignments. Do we only set them in root ap's.
3. should the channels be set under 802.11a ?
4.should the channel be manually set or should it be left to be chosen dynamically.
I want to change router channels to avoid some interference. But do wireless adapters automatically identify the new channel or do I need to change those too?

However on the 5 Ghz tab, nothing? I can see Channels 36, 40, 44, 48, 52 and so on BUT no trace of any wireless signal here?I carefully reviewed the wireless settings options and it is indeed enabled.

Checking my Router set up page, I see only what channels is CAN use, not what is currently being used.Is there anyway to identify what channel it is currently using so I can see if it is a specific channel causing the issue and not have to switch off 40mhz?
We are currently using a Cisco 2500 (licensed for 50 AP's) WLAN Controller. There has been a lot of issues setting up the VOCERA wireless badges, thats on going. The question I have is all the AP's are showing as being on Channel 6, it was thought that the controller would learn the enviroment and move these to none overlapping channels, but has not. Is this right should they all be on the same channel and not 1, 6, 11 accordingly? it is also worth mentioning that the controller can see 61 rogue AP's, yes that is 61 other wireless networks!

I accidentally started the auto update of IP addresses based on reduction of interference, and it changed the wireless channels on all of the APs. I disabled it, but he channel settings did not change.Now if I remember correctly, before making this setting, they were all on the same channel, 6. Should they all be on the same channel? If so what setting or procedur do I have to do to get them all back on the same channel? (do I have to manually set the channel?)

From the gui, I try and change the channel on the main radio interface--It works from one, and I get just a blank page on the other. When I try and change it via the cli, I use the "channel" command in conf int mode, and it works one the one, but the other one, the "channel" command doesnt exist.
I have setup LAG for one of our 5508 controllers and have connected 4 of the 8 ethernet ports to a 4507 switch. After configuring 2 port channels on the switch we are receiving a host flapping error between the port channels and it seems to be causing a serious slowdown on the switch. When I shutdown one of the port channels the error goes away and traffic returns to normal. I have the same configuration at other locations with the only difference being the switches used are 3750G-12S and I do not see the host flapping error. It appears to only be a problem with modular switches.
One other thing of note: I read a Cisco white paper on LAG and it suggested creating the port channels over 2 different modules. For example, put ports G4/24 and G5/24 in port channel 1 and G4/25 and G5/25 in port channel 2. I tried this but I still got the host flapping error.
