I've read some opinions that lowering the RTS threshold can facilitate in some noisy wireless environments. I have found how this can be done on standalone APs but cant seem to implement the change on a WLC 2112. How to do it.

We recently purchased a 2112 WLC, running version 6.0.199.4. I have everything running through a single port on the controller, which is connected to a trunk port on our 3750 stack. Our management VLAN is vlan 40, and AP is plugged into another port on the same switch which is an access port in vlan 40. APs appear in the controller ok, receive an IP address, but we aren't able to connect to any of the WLANs and periodically the APs will disassociate with the following messages: [code] I'm not sure if that's related to why we can't connect to the WLANs or not...
Another wrinkle is that if we plug in the AP directly to one of the PoE ports on the controller, it all works perfectly. I'm guessing its something switch-related since the only difference is that we're not going through the switch when it works.
I have 2 WLAN controllers, a 4400 series and 5500 series controller. The 4400 series has 100 seat limit on it, with 74 Access Points currently connected. The 5500 series has a 250 max, but we bought it with only 50 licenses, and it is max'd out at 50.The 5500 controller is the controller that has a DNS entry so that the Access Points will know to find that controller as they're being added. BUT, because we've reached our limit of 50 licenses, I'd like to be able to set the 4400 series controller to be the controller that new Access Points try to connect to. By going back to the 4400 as the controller that new Access Points connect to buys me time to plan for more licenses on next years budget for the 5500 controller.

Can he get full redundancy by purchasing a second controller? If he purchases one, can he bring it into the network? What about the extra license for 25 extra AP's installed on the first controller?

I tried from the device managger on the usuall way, i tried from regedit and i also tried with mac changer programms.
In the regedit, the Network address changed, but when i type the "ipconfig /all" commant to the cmd it show me my default mac address.
I also tried to connect to the network witch use mac filter (that's, why i want to change my mac) , but i can't.
I had to default my wireless router " Netgear WGR14V6" and since then I haven't been able to connect with my wireless card. I can physically connect to it with a cable but I can't access it with the wireless card. When I look at the properties it says that it is working fine but I can't seem to find where to change the "SSID and the security phrase". Usually when it is up and running it has a status button and when you click on it there is a tab that you click on and it shows you the SSID and the rest, but now since it is not connected there isn't anything that I can find to change this.

I have a 2112 wlc and 6 1142ap's. I noticed that the 2.4ghz channel is filled with lots of networks but the 5.0ghz area is empty. I tried to manually change the channel but it keeps reverting back to 2.4.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI need a WCS report that will actually give me the top n Wireless Access points that have too many clients trying to authenticte to them.We have some serious capacity issue in meeting rooms but we need a ball park figure of how many WAPs might be affected.
I know I can interogate the WCS to drill down and find out that WAPs are exceeding their threshold I just need to have a decent report generated.I have searched the reports from WCS 6.0.202.0 and cannot seem to find anything that suits.
I am having a trouble with using iTunes, iPhones and iPads on our Wireless LAN. We have the 2112 WLC and 10 1142N WAPs. If I do a network scan, I can see the Apple TV and see that port 5353 is open, which is Apple's Bonjour service. However, if I try to play music/video in iTunes, or on an iPhone/iPad, I do not see the Airplay icon. If I plug into the LAN, the Airplay icon appears immediately. I have created an allow all rule in the ACL but still no dice.

Set up: I am using a WiFi enabled laptop connected to Cisco AP running an application pumping data of size 1400 bytes continuously to a Wireless node connected to the same Cisco AP over WiFi.
I am monitoring network activity on the same laptop using Wire shark.However,i cannot see 1400 bytes data getting fragmented. What is the concept of fragmentation and MTU size? Also,I would like to know how to change the AP settings so that i can see the data (1400 bytes)getting fragmented to small byte chunks.

We are having a 2112 WLC and LAP1042 access points and facing a client disconnection issue. Also signal strength is varying even when client is at steady position. We have a single SSID structure and clients are connecting through 802.1x authentication with WPA2. Access points are joined in H-REAP mode. We also tried by creating a new SSID with open authentication and even on that SSID signal stregnth is varying and client is getting limited connectivity. Attached are the debugs for a particular client and the show tech support for WLC.

My access points are nine (9) lap1231ag and one (1) lap1310.I just have one wlan (ssid). My scenario of deployment is in layer 3. I have one interface management and ap manager in the WLC. All my Access Points have differents ip address that WLC. I need to configure a unique ssid to associate my six (6) dynamics interfaces (each dymanic interface with different vlan subnet).Each wlan profile (ssid) should have the same security in phase 2 (wpa2/psk). My cisco access points don't support hreap. My wlc support only (4) interface into an interface group, and i need six (6) dynamics interfaces.

I would prefer to connect the WLC Guest port to an ASA 5510 and the WLC Staff port to an internal 2960S switch. Will this work? I haven't setup a 2500 series controller previously.
How to find out which Fault Threshold group a specific interface belongs to.The scenario is that in Fault Manager there is an alarm for which I want to change the Threshold Setting.

I'm using RADIUS and FlexConnect APs. The issue is intermittently users will lose connectivity as if they're de-authenticated. Their clients still believe they're associated to wireless but they have no network connectivity. On Windows 7 we receive the exclamation point over the signal strength indicator.
There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason as to what is causing this. It doesn’t seem to happen at any particular time intervals or anything else I can identify. Sometimes users will go entire days without experiencing connectivity issues sometimes they can’t go five minutes. When the clients are experiencing the issues they cannot even ping their default gateway.
The setup was initially the following:
Site A: 1142N APs and RADIUS server (server 2003) users are authenticating to.
Site B: Flex 7510 running code 7.0.116
Between site A and site B there is a site to site VPN with no restrictions.
After some time of working with TAC and not getting anywhere I setup the following:Site A: 4402 WLC running code 7.0.116 connected the same 1142N APs HREAP mode. I had the same issue with connectivity with that setup.Today I changed over to local mode and as of yet I haven’t had reports of connectivity issues.
When running ‘debug client MAC’ I see no indication of connectivity issues. I also have an NCS and I don’t see anything indicating what the issue is there as well. I’ve tried with both enabling and disabling ‘H-REAP Local Auth’. We seem to experience the issue in H-REAP standalone mode as well.
Airlap 1041n i have air lap 1041n(soft version 12) and wlc 2112 i dont have dhcp server perhaps i use tftpd32 to act as a dhcp server.
my problem is
1. i have configured the wlc 2112 and it's ip is :172.25.1.1
2. i cant configure the air lap 1041n. when i enter the cli mode the following message comes ****continuously***:
Could not discover WLC using DHCP IP. Renewing DHCP IP.

3. my question is how to stop this continuous mgs ?

I have to show my office that i can control two ari lap 1041n-k9 with my WLC 2112 and my laptop's wifi and cellphone's wifi are able to get connected with the Access points.
We're getting complaints about a specific 1131AG in the field only being intermittently accessible. WCS shows both the a and b/g interfaces randomly bouncing, sometimes the reason for the bounce is unknown other times it says it's because it lost connection to the controller. I can ssh into the WCS but the engineer who setup the AP's doesn't seem to have enabled remote access via telnet or ssh.
We are also seeing these events:
802.11a interface of AP * is down: Controller 172.17.0.10 Reason: Max retransmissions for the AP have reached.Interference threshold violation reported by '802.11b/g' interface of AP *, connected to Controller '172.17.0.10'.I know I can adjust the threshold percentage, but that would only seem to mask the issue.WCS gives this version info on the AP:

I have a client with a 2112 WLC and 1252AG radios. The clients work fine, but an SNMP management server can not reach any of the clients over the wireless. Before the WLC and new AP's were installed, they were running older Cisco Autonomous AP's and had no problems with SNMP. My monitoring system uses SNMP and it can reach the WLC just fine, so there doesnt appear to be any issues on the switched network. What can be blocking the SNMP on the WLC?

On a Cisco ASA 8.4 code is it possible to receive an alert once a certain number of tcp/udp connections is reached? I'd like to see if I can get an email alert or syslog if the ASA reaches say 2,000 connections for example. Once I get an alert I could then investigate the cause of so many connections.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am configuring two 2504 controllers, which I ordered together, however they run different software versions and I don't have a contract/ login to download wlan controller software from the Cisco website. The one with the newest version runs 7.2.103.0 while the other one runs 7.0.220.0 I want to run them together in the same subnet and use them for redundancy (10 AP's will connect).
Is there a way I can download the software from the controller, just like I am able to do with an ASA firewall? Then I can upload it to the controller with the older software version.
I am setting up two 5508 controllers, one in HA mode, and one the primary for the remote sites in question. I plan to have these units service wireless for MPLS conected regional sites (each with their own local subnet). I was planning on using the cabled hosts network in each site for the wifi addressing and was thinking a different addressing for Guest Access, is this common? I'm obviously concerned with guest access clients but don't know enough how their trafiic is segregated from normal wifi traffic.
Also, when I stand up the controllers the management interface and ap-manager won't be in the same network as where the hosts or LWAP's will reside (routing access will exist though).
