Change SSID Password On Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini Card

Jun 11, 2012

I had to default my wireless router " Netgear WGR14V6" and since then I haven't been able to connect with my wireless card. I can physically connect to it with a cable but I can't access it with the wireless card. When I look at the properties it says that it is working fine but I can't seem to find where to change the "SSID and the security phrase". Usually when it is up and running it has a status button and when you click on it there is a tab that you click on and it shows you the SSID and the rest, but now since it is not connected there isn't anything that I can find to change this.

Difficulty Connecting To Preferred Wireless Network

Jan 26, 2011

The automatic connection to the preferred network (with a strong signal) does not occur immediately. When I choose it in the list of preferred networks and click on 'connect' (with the password present of course), a message appears stating that the computer is connecting to the network. However, after some time nothing happens and the message terminates. There is no other information given (e.g. 'the computer failed to connect..."). After up to 15 mins or so, the network connects automatically (not sure if this has anything to do with turning the router off and on, restarting the computer, turning the wireless adaptor off and on....)

TP-Link 3G/3.75G Router :: MR3420 - Works In 3g Only Doesn't Work In 3g Preferred

Dec 24, 2012

Region : India
Model : TL-MR3420
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.12.21 Build 120523 Rel.37880n
ISP : Reliance

I've just set up a MR3420. It works fine in "WAN only" mode and provides access via our ADSL modem. It also works fine in "3G only" mode and provides access via a Reliance Netconnect+ USB modem (a Huawei E150 I think). I updated the firmware to the latest version in order to get it to work with the USB modem.

The problem I have is that when I set it to "3G preferred" it doesn't seem to connect over 3G. I can see it tries to connect but then fails and then WAN takes over. The connect and disconnect options are greyed out on the 3G page so I am unable to manually get it to retry. I've tried leaving it for a long time but it doesn't seem to connect over 3G ever. I've tried setting 3G to connect on demand and connect automatically but both behave the same.

Cisco Wireless :: AP541N - Preferred Mode To Maximize Network Speed?

Nov 7, 2012

Our wireless environment consitst of 5 AP541N's configured with 2 VAP's.  1 VAP is for our private network and the second for unsecured guest access.  I am wondering what the preferred wireless mode is to maximize network speed?  We only have N devices on our network and our mode is currently set to 802.11 b/g/n.  Would 2.4GHz 802.11n be faster?

Does the Transmit Power setting have any effect on speed?  Or just range?  Any other settings on the Advanced Settings page effect network speed.

LAN Set Up Versus WLAN

Jun 28, 2012

I run my business from a home-office, and have a program that operates off a database. This database is run on what I'll refer to as the "server" computer.I have other laptop and desktop pc's that run this same program, but are referred to as "clients" since they don't house the database and only pull the data from the "server".I can connect wirelessly through my WLAN, but the connection is slow due to the database server. However I am told that a wired network would increase the data transfers tremendously between the machines.I have plenty of ethernet cable and a brand new switch.I run windows 7 64 on all machines that I'd like to connect. What steps do I need to take in order for the "client" machines to connect to the "server" via the LAN and not the WLAN?

How To Speed Up WLAN Transfer

Sep 23, 2011

I have two computers both running Windows 7 and both connected thru a 2wire Wireless G modem/router. Problem is, transfer speeds between two computers on the same network are surprisingly slow. I installed TeraCopy on recommendation from a friend which sped things up a bit, but I still max out at around 1 MB/s, even when there is no other network activity. That's barely more than I get downloading from the Internet!

Expanding Network LAN To WLAN?

Aug 30, 2012

My house is nicely wired for internet with access to the internet from every room via a wired connection. However, now that smartphones are starting to enter our lives and they like wifi, I would like to add wifi to my wired network. The router is in the basement and I would like to add wifi to the living room upstairs. So I don't think I am looking for a router/booster/repeater but some other piece of equipment that can be plugged into a ethernet plug in the wall of the living room and broadcast from there. I have used Connectify but that requires a laptop to be on all the time so I was hoping for something smaller and easier.

Connecting A WLAN To A Separate LAN?

Jun 22, 2012

I don't sound like a complete noob but anyway here it goes....I have a small business and work on my network myself. I am a novice but do enjoy the challenge. What I have in the closet is Comcast Business Class cable into a SMC 8014 router/ gateway with 4 lan ports. One of the ports goes into a ethernet switch and then those are fed into the panel for the corresponding 7 offices. The other lan port I connected a netgear n750 wireless router The Lan network is on a separate network form the wireless network because I set the Netgear n750 Wireless Router's DHCP server to on. I did this to keep people off of the local network. We have meetings with as many as 30 members and they use the wireless in varying degrees with no problems thus far. My problem now is that I think I have set it up wrong because I need to connect to my network printers and work-group computers with my wireless laptop ....problem is they are on different networks or subnets. They all have the same public IP of course but 2 seperate DHCP private networks...Is the term "different subnets"???

What I am looking to do is change the Router to an Access point or whatever works....... that grants access to the internet only for visiting members and........ Wireless access to my lan and internet for my laptop's Would making the Wireless Router an Access Point by turning off the DHCP sever and creating guest accounts be the right choice. Or is there a way to connect to my LAN through the wireless network without making this change.
