2 ISP's connected to a 4507, both with seperate public IP blocks. Based on some source IP addresses on the LAN they would either use ISP-A or ISB-B's connection based on what I define.
View 3 RepliesI've got two Nexus 7010's running HSRP north bound to a pair of ASA's, and BGP south bound to four 6509's. Is it possible to advertise default route to BGP neighbor (or prefer it via MED), only if the node is HSRP-active?
Essentially the goal is to create symmetry for inbound/outbound traffic. Only way I can think of so far is via an EEM script, so that when it sees HSRP go active via syslog, it would kick off an action to remove ASN prepend, or reduce MED, and the opposite if HSRP goes standby.
Issue I am having with a Cisco 4507? Below is the error i am receiving.

I've enabled antispoof on all interfaces on asa 5510.If you start a traceroute to a network on the default route, everything works, since replies comes to an interface with route 0.0.0.0/0 defined.If you start a tracer route to a network that is NOT on the default route (let's assume coporate MPLS), you only get response from first carrier router, the other are discarded because of anti spoof violation.

A customer has an ASA5520 and 2 ISP routers with one WAN link each, and wants to split the load over both routers based on source IP ("natted" IP on ASA). I found this excellent doc on the topic: {URL}. Using PBR to achieve this is an option I was looking at, but I have come across a possible loop doing this with 2 routers. Setup:

Both Routers receive default routes via BGP, and customer networks are propagated via BGP as well (i.e. the customer can specify the return path for the traffic). The ASA5520 forwards traffic to a HSRP virtual IP for redundancy purposes. If one router or ISP fails, all the traffic should use the other router/ISP. The customer wants to specify which traffic is sent over which link, by defining nat rules on the ASA. e.g. traffic sourced from the network 10.10.1.0/24 will always use ISP 1, and traffic sourced from the network 10.10.2.0/24 will always use ISP 2.
My problem: if I use route-maps on both routers (CE-1 and CE-2), sending part of the traffic to the other, and one ISP link fails, in my opinion I have a loop, since part of the traffic will get sent back to the router it came from. Is there any other was to achieve my goal without using PBR? I have looked at CEF and GLBP, but I cannot seem to find a way to load share via source IP.
I have a customer with a Sonic wall that I want to replace with a 521.He currently has port forwaring setup so that only 3 ip addresses can access the port forward. Everyone else is dropped. Is there a way to do something similar?I can make it work for a single one via the DMZ tab with a source ip address. but there is not a way I can find to add the allow for the other two remote connections.

I cannot change the port the clients use to connect to this server, so I can't do a port map in my NAT router. The solution I had in mind, is to filter on source address. If a client from public IP X.X.X.X connects to port Z, I want it to go to internal server 10.10.10.10 and if a client from public IP Y.Y.Y.Y connects to port Z, I want it to go to internal server 10.20.20.20. Is this possible? I'm using an ASA5510 but I could also switch to a 5505 for this.

Basically, I cannot connect to any game servers when I am connected through this router. I used my Android to tether into 3G internet and was able to connect without any issues so it's not OS-side at all. I've tried many settings arbitrarily one at a time, checking each time to no avail. Is there a particular setting that is screwing with this game? I've got the ports (27000-27100 TCP/UDP) forwarded and I've used a Port Checker tool to verify that they are open. Obviously it's something in the router that is blocking the connection..but what else is there to try?
Should I finally flash the 1.13NA firmware?
I have this cisco 4507 switch that I need to configure multiple ip ranges on. The problem is that I can only configure two ip ranges on it, one ip range on the management vlan and the other ip range on vlan 2. After I have configured these 2 vlans with different ip ranges, I can route between then and get them to talk to each other, but that is all I can do. If I add another vlan with a different IP range I cannot see it from the switch or get any of the otehr ip ranges to see it.
I am doing something dumb because this is a layer 4 device so it should be able to route the ip ranges. I have tried everything just cannot get it to work. I have assigned the IP range directly to the port number and directly to the vlans. Just wont work.

i have a stack of 3750x, with minimal configuration. there are two vlans, and two vlan interfaces with IP addresses. when i ping out from this switch to another host, it picks vlan1's ip address as the source automatically. i tested this by doing two pings with extended options using each vlan's interface as the source, and got different results. how the switch decided to use the first vlan's ip address as a source.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 2851 (with a 4 port switch module) that I am trying to set up with two different internet connections, and have it route traffic out to them based on the source IP. One connection is a 50mb Comcast connection, another is our T1 that our servers are hosted on. The goal is to guide server/phone system traffic to the T1 and have the rest default to the Comcast. I currently have the 2851 connected to our Layer 3 switch (Dell Powerconnect 6224) with a subnet created between them. Static routes have been created on the 2851 back to all of our existing subnets. Traffic flows internally without a problem between the subnets and 2851 (and vice versa). I set up the 2851 with route-map's in the NAT to control the flow of traffic, with the default route set to the Comcast connection. Default route works great, speedtest shows full speeds and everything looks great. The problem happens when I apply my route-map policy to the internal LAN interface with the ACL list of IP's that I want to guide to the T1 (with a next-hop of the T1's IP address). I tested some tracert's and pings from one of the IP's in this list and they would stop at the T1 modem and not go any further. I did a "show ip nat translations" and noticed that the "outside" portion (right half) was blank for every IP that was in the ACL or related to the T1. So my guess is it looks like this is not doing NAT for the T1? I double-checked that I had my "ip nat inside" on the LAN interface and "ip nat ouside" on the T1 VLAN interface and Comcast interface and they were there.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been using a route map to pick WAN exit points (PBR) on a 3725 router. This have been working fine with /24 networks. I am trying to pick the first /28 piece out of the 10.1.1.0 network and send it out a different exit from the rest of that network. I have tried the /28 entry at the start and end of the route map, although I thought the first match would stop any further route map processing. The entry does not seem to have any effect, as traffic from all addresses in the 10.1.1.0 /24 network exit per the "route-map 10-LAN permit 11" section.

configuring policy based route for my cisco router?Basically, I have a 2811 cisco router with 2 ADSL ports. 1 port is for iiNet line and another port is for Telstra line.I want to configure a policy based route on the router so that:Any traffic coming from 1 internal IP (i.e. 172.16.x.1) will go through iinet line (i.e. Dialer 0) interface.Any traffic from rest of the office will go through the Telstra line (i.e. Dialer 1) interface. View 8 Replies View Relatedthis is my first time configuring a cisco router. For instance, a cisco router 1700 with 2 ethernet WICs and 1 LAN port. We have 2 ISPs one more stable than the other. We use an RDP session to an external host identified by lets say IP address 200.1.1.2 using ISP2 to get to this computer. We use ISP1 for all the internet usage, web pages, youtube etc. We are thinking of using this cisco router 1700 to make the packet filtering and routing of this RDP session to the correct ISP2 since we only have 1 NIC per computer on the LAN side.
The main idea would be:
| YES -----> ----------- then use ISP2
LAN---------> Are the packets RDP ?
| No--------> ----------- then use ISP1
Does this can be achieved using packet filtering using extended ACLs and to be router from the lan interface to route rdp (port 3389) packets to ISP2 WAN interface?
After a long effort I managed to get my WRVS4400N to work and provide a stable WLAN/LAN and to define all network devices in my home office. It is running the latest firmware (2.0.1).
I created a seperate SSID and a vlan for it (vlan ID is 3 and IP is 192.168.1.xxx while the default vlan IP is 192.168.0.xxx).
My plan is to use that SSID/vlan for the kids and block some bad content for them via the router there.
I want to make a ACL for that vlan but in the computer list option I can only specify ranges in the default VLAN segment (192.168.0.xxx) while in practice I need the 192.168.1.xxx segment.
I can't switch to .0.xxx as some devices are hard wired to be .1.xxx on my network.
I want to leak default internet route to CE VRF as common service.Since we having two ASBR, can I point next hop to PE itself instead of either of the ASBR?I tried to point NH to loopback of the PE itself but it failed.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a practice lab and am having the following issue. I have a customer router connected to two different ISP routers. Each ISP router must advertise a default through BGP to the customer and one of the default routes must be preferred over the other. Given if the preferred route interface is shut down the other default route is inserted into the routing table and when the preferred default route interface it turned back on that path is used again. The catch is I cant alter the customer router only the the two ISP devices. I tried doing some route maps but I'm lost. I have deleted all my route maps and have posted the BGP portion of the ISP routers.

Looking through the SPROUTE course material they state on several occasions that an ABR will announce a default route in to a standard NSSA area, same as a stub area, because LSA5 external routes are not allowed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a WRVS400N v2 to be used as an access point. Currently it is hooked up on my switch via a trunk port and is able to communicate with my gateway. Whenever I try to access an IP subnet other then the local IP address of the WRVS, I get a network unreachable error. To fix this for my local networks, I added the appropriate static route to cover my local LANs and that seems to work now. I tried to add route 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 using the web interface for internet access, but somehow it does not recognize this as a default route (quad zero!?). Does any know how I can set the default gateway in this router? Maybe, but hopefully not, I have to use the WAN port to create some kind of uplink and use one of the LAN ports to connect using the trunk port and route traffic for the clients over the WAN port .
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an 877 router which has a DSL WAN interface. The DSL service at this site is unreliable, so the company have purchased a separate 3G router to be used as a backup. This device maintains 3G connectivity at all times and has a static IP on the internal subnet (for arguments sake let's say 10.0.0.253).
What I want to do with the Cisco router is to track the DSL interface and if it is up, install a default route pointing to it. If it is down, I want the default route to be the 3G router.
I am thinking the best way to do this is to set up a track and then set 2 default routes; one which is installed if the tracking is up, the other has a higher admin distance and points to the 3G router and thus should only be used if the track is down. For example:
track 10 interface Dialer0 ip routing

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Dialer0 track 10

Is this likely to work or is there a better way to do it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a strange requirement. actually I am not sure it is strange or not. I am having ASA5510 with 8.4 sw version. Currently one ISP is connected to it. It is working fine. We have some servers that are directly connected to internet using another ISP connection. These servers having public IP addresses configured on their LAN settings. I need to move these servers in to the DMZ zone.
When i connect it to the ASA's DMZ zone,servers will get internet through the first ISP that is already configured on ASA. But i need to NAT the DMZ servers with the IP address provided by the other ISP, which even not configured on ASA.
So what should i do? In short my requirement is
1) need to NAT the server with the IP address provided by another ISP
2) Also note that the default route is configured for the first ISP only in ASA
so Do i need to configure another default route? Do i need to make it with larger AD? So i do it will act as the secondary route only.
I need to make the ASA up and running for two ISP, and servers in the LAN should be able to NAT with the IPs of first ISP and ,the servers in the DMZ zone should be able to NAT with the public IP of the new ISP.
In case customers buy IP transit(there is a BGP session between ISP and customer), they often ask for default route and for example prefixes from local internet-exchanges. What is the advantage to have default route + certain smaller(for example /17, /18 and /24) prefixes?
