My colleague says I need to use COS values across layer 2 trunk links between access layer switches and core switches. My argument is if phones are marking packets with DSCP values I don't need to be concerned with Cos.The reason I ask is we're implementing a new phone system, the ip phones will mark RTP traffic wih dscp value EF and Call signaling with DSCP value of CS3. If my understanding is correct I can trust the dscp values of the phones. We are using Cisco 4507 switches which I believe automatically trust dscp values so I would just need a class-map to match the dscp values and apply the output policy map on the egress interfaces as follows? View 3 Replies View Relatedwe have a scenario that consists of a Cisco 4507 series core switch with more than 20 vlans which is connected to a C2960G switch( in a nearby building) using a trunk by a fiber connection. Up to this point everyhting is fine . VTP domain is configured on the core switch and we have all of the 20 vlans present correctly on the edge 2960G wich is part of course of this same VTP domain.the fiber connection goes from core switch to a "in the middle location" where we have a fiber patch panel that is connected in a jumper style to another fiber patch panel going to the destination building where the C2960G sits.
Now imagine that Fiber connection from this middle location to the destination C2960 edge switch is down for any possible reason meanwhile the fiber connection from Core switch 4507 to the middle location is still intact.In the same time, in this middle location , we do have a wireless connection which links 1 Cisco 3750G switche ( a different infrastructure and different VTP domain) to another C3560G switch which sits on the same Room in the nearby destination building where we have the edge C2960G, An idea came to me is to connect one of the fiber port (core) in the intact fiber patch panel coming from Core switch 4507 TO an access vlan configured switchport in the 3750G switch ( this switchport will belong to a vlan designed only to trasmit the vlans on the trunk coming from 4507 core switch say VLAN 10) then connect one VLAN 10 access switchport to the destination C2960 edge switch ( the switchport on the c2960G is still a trunk)Will this solution work and all of the 20- 4507 core switch vlans arrive to the destination C2960G ? Or we do need something that tags the 2 VLAN 10 switchports like switchport dot1q tunnel like QinQ
I have this cisco 4507 switch that I need to configure multiple ip ranges on. The problem is that I can only configure two ip ranges on it, one ip range on the management vlan and the other ip range on vlan 2. After I have configured these 2 vlans with different ip ranges, I can route between then and get them to talk to each other, but that is all I can do. If I add another vlan with a different IP range I cannot see it from the switch or get any of the otehr ip ranges to see it.
I am doing something dumb because this is a layer 4 device so it should be able to route the ip ranges. I have tried everything just cannot get it to work. I have assigned the IP range directly to the port number and directly to the vlans. Just wont work.
I have a test switch (Cisco 3550) that I want to set up with 6 Vlans and 2 trunk ports. I want to be able to access a virtual server conected to the trunk ports from the switch ports. Ports Fa0/1 to 8 are in a vlan port fa0/9 to 16 another vlan etc. Ports Fa0/47 and 48 are the trunk ports. This is a lab environment so the the switch is the only device being used.

I have a static ip internet which is 200.33.22.11 gateway: 200.33.22.10 I have a router configured working as gateway, It has ip 192.168.2.1.
I have configured two vlans. But when I try to check if vlan has internet, it doesn't work.
I need to set up a VLAN. We just bought the SG500x switches and we need to create several VLANs.
So for example:
192.168.1.x --> Vlan 1
192.168.2.x --> Vlan 2
192.168.3.x --> Vlan 3
What I would like to know is how do I come about setting this up and do I have to do something with my DHCP server to allow this to happen?

What i am trying to do is on the 3750 to route private networks to my ASA on different subintefaces and all internet to my internet routers . Each VLAN has a different GW for the internet. On some case i have the ASA as a default gateway. ASA default default route is 3750 where i need the internet traffic to be spllited on the proper Boarder router.
I have 2 Vlans with seperate networks and want to create a route between one server in vlan 465 to another server in vlan 436 via port 80.Vlan 465 has a ASA 5505 inside that IP address 89.254.12.35 will be initiating the connection to address 10.200.1.213.
-Vlan 465: server address 10.200.1.213
-Vlan 436: server address 89.254.12.35
However for extended security I would like to restrict the firewall opening to an IP to IP opening.
How can i route internal VLANs on a 3750X , my current network its small ( about 8 -10 subnets) so i dont wnat to add overhead using maybe dynamic protocol , My scenario is my stack of 3750X ( 2 switches) will be my CORE SW, i will have 2 stack more (2960S - 4 switches ) and it will connect to the 3750X with a trunk port etherchannel each link connected to a different switch, ( i was planning to use a L3 routing in the 3750X but not sure how it will works )

I'm trying to create a route-map for an EIGRP Distribute list on a N7K, the goal is to not advertise a 10.0.0.0/8 and 172.31.30.20/32 networks out a link to a remote site while permitting all other traffic to the internet (default). I configured the ACL/route-maps below and applied them outbound on the N7K interface but no subnets at all are being received on the remote site router.

we recently aquired a managed services job and have to do a overhaul of the vlan configs and have a whole dozen WC2948G's trunk between a set of ports as well as trunk out a LAG channel setup to non cisco equipment. the deal is the lacp-channel works properly on both ends but no routing of vlans between ports and between the lag trunk are working.
theres alot of settings in the config and im planning on clearing it and starting from scratch but before i do i want to know where my problem lies.

SF-300 Port 1 is connected to Internet Modem. This modem worked as dhcp server also for vlan 1, my problem is that when vlan 1 is not communicate to vlan2,3,4 and 2,3,4 are not communicating.

I'm not sure how it knows that with the nested maps and how it's computed. I have a 100mb WAN connectin going to 19 branches. I have a class-map that identifies traffic to the individual branch and within that class, a policy-map is applied to prioritize voice over video etc.

I was adding the Video-Conf class to both Traffic-6calls and Traffic-10calls when I got the above error. How would that percentage be calculated? I know by default i can only reserve up to 75% of interface bandwidth. The platform is 3945E running 15.1(3)
I am trying to create a static route on the TP-Link TD-W8950ND router, however am a little confused about the interface I should use. The default gateway on the route is another router on the LAN. I have a choice to use interface pppoe (telstra), LAN/br01 (bridge) or no interface. I was assuming I didn't need to use any interface as this is not a bridge setup and is on the LAN, but when I select "no interface" it doesn't save the static route settings.Also, when I select LAN/br01, the routing saves but doesn't actually work (tracert shows not going through the right router).

Security policies state that we have to filter unnecessary vlans going through the trunk between N5K and N7K. So we use the 'switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,20,30' command. A few weeks ago the switch had to be reloaded and when it was back online I couldn't SSH to it. When I connected via the console and typed "show ip ssh" it came back saying I needed to generate the keys. Did that and it starting working again. The same switch had to turned off and on the other day due to a power down in the server room and when it came back the same thing happened again!!
