Cisco WAN :: 2811 EBGP With Static Default Route

May 8, 2011

My 2811 is connected with two ISP,s as below and have VPN with Central branch.I want to set DSL as primary and WiMax as secondary but problem is that routes learned via BGP get precedence over default route as they are specific one.I think i may need to put all static specific routes of central branch over DSL along defautl but I want any idea if my default route stay active and when it down then BGP neighborship can be establish  (like ip sla tracking.)

Cisco Switches :: SG300 Static Route Default Gateway Per VLAN

Jul 27, 2011

We have recently purchased a Cisco SG300 and have been configuring it. [code] The VLANs have ACLs set up to prevent any communication between the Holly and Tempo VLANs (and their associated WAN VLANs).Each VLAN has a WAN available for it's use, which connects to external networks (including the Internet). In order to facilitate this, we have set up all the necessary ACLs and routes and confirmed that this all works. However, the problem comes when we assign the static routes that specify the default gateways. We add the two static routes below:

-0.0.0.0 next hop 10.10.200.254 metric 1
-0.0.0.0 next hop 192.168.200.254 metric 1

In this case, only one of the VLANs has WAN access.  It is either Holly or Tempo (it can be either if the order the static route is added is changed). What we need is to force Holly to use Holly WAN and Tempo to use Tempo WAN, but we cannot see a way of doing this.Effectively, we want the following static routes: [code]

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Benefits Of Using Static Route With Default GW With Catalyst 3560

Jul 4, 2012

A check out a network segment and want to know why SwA has a static route to SwB if SwA already has a Default GW to Core?

(SwA, SwB - Catalyst3560, Core - Catalyst4948)Note, there are distribute list on SwA - it does not has any OSPF route (exclude O*IA).

Does this mean when SwA send out packet with DA 10.5.64.0/26, Core will use only L2 switching (instead of L3)? Is this more effectively for Core Switch?

Pleace check my reasoning:
1. When use a static route: SwA receive packet from Vlan 20 with DA 10.5.64.0/26 it will strip out Dest. MAC and replace it with MAC of SwB. Core will switch this packet to SwB based on mac add. table (l2 switching)

2. When SwA has only Default gateway and receive packet from Vlan20 with DA 10.5.64.0/26 it replace Dest. MAC with Core MAC. Core receive this packet, lookup route table for 10.5.64.0 entry and forward packet base on this.

Cisco WAN :: C2900 - Route Selection When Using EBGP And EIGRP

May 22, 2013

I have a mixed WAN environment with both eBGP and EIGRP routes.  The BGP routes should always take precedence, when they exist.  If no BGP routes exist I want the router to fail over to using the EIGRP routes.  So far, this works fine.

The problem is, when the BGP route again becomes available (and the associated entry appears in the "sh ip bgp ... received-routes" output) the router is NOT relinquishing the EIGRP route.  It remains in effect, showing as a "D" route int the route table even though there is a better ("B") route available. If I bounce EIGRP or the interface associated with it, the EIGRP route disappears and the BGP route reasserts itself, and everything will run correctly until the next time the BGP route disappears due to maintenance, line failure, etc.

My router is (C2900-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.3(1)T

Here's the associated config
interface Tunnel101

Cisco WAN :: 65210 - Add Last Two Static Routes / Communicate Other Sites Via EBGP?

Apr 7, 2013

My client has MPLS network via eBGP to communicate with all the sites. Here is the basic config on the router.router eigrp 65210.neighbor 192.168.1.2 remote-as 13939

When they installed the internet on the local router, and added the static route on the router to hit the internet, they need to add the static route (2nd one) to communicate to the other sites.

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 75.75.75.1

ip route 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0 192.168.1.2

ip route 172.20.0.0 255.255.0.0 192.168.1.2

They want to route all the traffic out thru the local intenet besides their private networks ( 192.168.0.0/16 and 172.20.0.0/16). Are there ways not to add last two static routes and communicate the other sites via eBGP?

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 Trace-route / Antispoofing On Not Default Route

Jun 24, 2011

I've enabled antispoof on all interfaces on asa 5510.If you start a traceroute to a network on the default route, everything works, since replies comes to an interface with route 0.0.0.0/0 defined. If you start a tracer route to a network that is NOT on the default route (let's assume coporate MPLS), you only get response from first carrier router, the other are discarded because of anti spoof violation.

I have ICMP inspection and icmp-error inspection enabled.

Cisco WAN :: BGP 300 - Default Route Maps

Sep 3, 2011

I'm working on a practice lab and am having the following issue. I have a customer router connected to two different ISP routers. Each ISP router must advertise a default through BGP to the customer and one of the default routes must be preferred over the other. Given if the preferred route interface is shut down the other default route is inserted into the routing table and when the preferred default route interface it turned back on that path is used again. The catch is I cant alter the customer router only the the two ISP devices.  I tried doing some route maps but I'm lost. I have deleted all my route maps and have posted the BGP portion of the ISP routers.

Cisco Wireless :: 2811 - Can't Ping Default Gateway

Jun 9, 2012

I'm trying to get a 2811 router with a NM-AIR-WLC6 Wireless Controller Module to work with an c1200 series access point. The LWAP is connected to a 2690 switch which has a trunk connected to the router. My configuration looks very similar to example 2 on this page: [URL] . The LWAP does get an IP from the DHCP pool on the router. I can also connect to the GUI of the controller from a PC on VLAN 250 (which also is connected to the switch).

[URL]

The moment I join my Wireless network I get no IP and when I enter a valid static IP, I still can't ping the gateway. I also noticed that the controller could ping the gateway before I configured the interface. After configuring an interface with that gateway, the controller loses the ability to ping to it. I can't seem to figure out why. I've been working all week on getting this controller and LWAP to broadcast a fully working network.

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N Default Route

Feb 26, 2013

I bought a WRVS400N v2 to be used as an access point. Currently it is hooked up on my switch via a trunk port and is able to communicate with my gateway. Whenever I try to access an IP subnet other then the local IP address of the WRVS, I get a network unreachable error. To fix this for my local networks, I added the appropriate static route to cover my local LANs and that seems to work now. I tried to add route 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 using the web interface for internet access, but somehow it does not recognize this as a default route (quad zero!?). Does any know how I can set the default gateway in this router? Maybe, but hopefully not, I have to use the WAN port to create some kind of uplink and use one of the LAN ports to connect using the trunk port and route traffic for the clients over the WAN port .

Cisco WAN :: 877 Default Route Using Track Command?

Jun 5, 2013

I have an 877 router which has a DSL WAN interface. The DSL service at this site is unreliable, so the company have purchased a separate 3G router to be used as a backup. This device maintains 3G connectivity at all times and has a static IP on the internal subnet (for arguments sake let's say 10.0.0.253).

What I want to do with the Cisco router is to track the DSL interface and if it is up, install a default route pointing to it. If it is down, I want the default route to be the 3G router.

I am thinking the best way to do this is to set up a track and then set 2 default routes; one which is installed if the tracking is up, the other has a higher admin distance and points to the 3G router and thus should only be used if the track is down. For example:

track 10 interface Dialer0 ip routing
delay down 30 up 30
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Dialer0 track 10
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.0.0.253 100

Is this likely to work or is there a better way to do it?

Cisco WAN :: ASA 5510 - NAT / Default Route To Two ISPs

Nov 14, 2011

I am having a strange requirement. actually I am not sure it is strange or not. I am having ASA5510 with 8.4 sw version. Currently one ISP is connected to it. It is working fine. We have some servers that are directly connected to internet using another ISP connection. These servers having public IP addresses configured on their LAN settings. I need to move these servers in to the DMZ zone.

When i connect it to the ASA's DMZ zone, servers will get internet through the first ISP that is already configured on ASA. But i need to NAT the DMZ servers with the IP address provided by the other ISP, which even not configured on ASA.

So what should i do? In short my requirement is

1) need to NAT the server with the IP address provided by another ISP

2) Also note that the default route is configured for  the first ISP only in ASA

so Do i need to configure another default route? Do i need to make it with larger AD? So i do it will act as the secondary route only.

I need to make the ASA up and running for two ISP, and servers in the LAN should be able to NAT with the IPs of first ISP and ,the servers in the DMZ zone should be able to NAT with the public IP of the new ISP.

Static Route Works On One PC But Not The Other

Sep 19, 2012

Basically I have a bunch of computers that are being routed through a specific gateway in order to access a web page that is hosted internally on a separate subnet. I set up static routes on all of the computers, and they all work... except one. Here's what a route print -4 looks like for a working computer (Windows 7):

Code:
===========================================================================
Interface List
14...xx xx xx xx xx xx ......Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter
11...xx xx xx xx xx xx ......Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
1...........................Software Loopback Interface 1

[code]....

Both of these stations are running Windows 7.So essentially what I am trying to do here is route all traffic to the 10.zzz.zzz.0 subnet through the 10.xxx.xxx.147 gateway. Everything else should go through the 10.xxx.xxx.230 gateway. This is the intended behavior, and again it is working everywhere but that one station.

Got an ASA5505 Sec+ with ip 10.45.10.1 on inside interface. Firmware 8.3(1). Got another Cisco router (From my ISP) with ip 10.45.10.254 - This one creates an L2L tunnel - To the 10.45.20.0/24 net.

On the 5505 ive got "route inside 10.45.20.0 255.255.255.0 10.45.10.254 1", and trafic is being directed to 10.45.10.254 as it should.

I know cause I can ping everything one the 10.45.20.0/24 net - But thats it... Cant RDP, connect to fileshare... Nothing.

When i test a PC and set it to gateway 10.45.10.254 I can access everything on the remote network. Do I need some NAT command or an access-list? I've setup AnyConnect VPN on the ASA and I can connect to both networks without any problems.

Port 1-12 is switchport mode access to vlan 5 There are 3 firewall's connected to the 2960
