I open the IE, it takes about 3 minutes to open up.Its says at the bottom left corner "detecting proxy settings". I went to Tools>Internet Options>Connections Tab>LAN settings> and unchecked Automatically detect settings, but still did not work.

I live in a fairly large home and the connection deteriorates in some rooms (not lost altogether, but weaker). Also, what is "channel width"? It's set to 20MHZ, but there is also a setting for Automatic 20/40MHZ. What's the adv advantage of one setting over the other?

However as of a couple days ago, whenever I am upstairs I only get limited connectivity. It still detects my router, but I an exclamation point and I can't connect to the internet. However when I am downstairs I have a connection that actually works. This applies to multiple laptops, computers, phones, etc.

So I attempted to log into the device to see what was wrong and I was surprised to discover that all of the settings including user name and password had reverted back to factory default.
1. What are all of the possible scenarios that would cause this to happen?
2.Would disconnecting power in the middle of a boot up sequence cause the router to revert to factory settings?

I had a virus called something like Cloud AV 2012 so I used Malware Bytes to remove it and it worked just fine. However, now the internet does not seem to work (there's that yellow triangle with the exclamation point) and when I try to run diagnostics, the message "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings" comes up. So far, I've tried rebooting, disabling proxies in all of my browsers, and running scans, And I also cannot system restore, because apparently windows security was turned off and there are no restore points

Yes I'm using a router. The other computers connected to the router can connect to the internet but mine can't. It also says "unidentified network - no internet access" when I click on the computer icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. until I downloaded from a music site which gave me the virus I think. On my regular laptop, my internet icon has the yellow triangle and when I trouble shoot it, the message says "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings".Recently I noticed my computer was heating faster (and hotter) than usual so I ran a search again and it said no threats were found. I have ran the search twice since then and still nothing. I was advised to use ccleaner,malwarebytes, and Super Anti-Spyware. It removed one other threat but the problem was still there. I then started using combofix, but I did not like the look of it so I stopped that scan. It seemed a little sketchy. As of this morning, I'm having the internet problem. My old laptop (the one I'm on now) and my girlfriend's laptop work fine. I connected it with the Ethernet cord and that didn't change anything. I have Windows 7. It's on a 2010 Samsung (I'm not very tech savvy so I'm not sure about all the other details).

Once it was done, I tried connecting to the internet but the computer could not detect ANY wireless networks!I already know it is not the modem or router because I have a Macbook Pro and two HP laptops that connect perfectly fine to the modem. I also made sure the wireless is on. The laptop with the problem is a Toshiba Satellite l645. It's running on a 64-bit Windows 7. When I try to look up wireless networks, it only shows 'MOBILE BROADBAND CONNECTION".

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe other day i was on my mums laptop (ASUS X5DIJ) at her house all working fine the battery died so i plugged it in and started it up again however the charger cant have been fully connected and once back in windows the battery died again on the next boot i noticed windows said it had found the system CMOS/real time clock and had installed drivers for it. checked the driver details it says no driver files are required just like it should ever since then it connects to the network but will not connect to the internet at her house or at mine through wireless and ethernet cable although all other computers work fine windows troubleshooter says "Windows could not automatically detect this networks proxy settings"

It works fine on both my pc and wifi laptop, provided I give a fixed DNS server that was entered by my internet provider. My IP address is set to 'obtain IP address automatically' but my DNS is set to a preferred DNS by the provider. I have to set this on my notebook as well in order to access internet. If I set it to obtain DNS server automatically, internet stops working on that machine.roblem is when I try to access internet through my phone it does not work, because I have no option to enter a DNS server there. Internet works fine on my phone using another wifi router where the obtain dns address automatically is enabled.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is an Inspiron N5010 running the standard Windows 7 64bit. When returning from sleep/hibernate, the internet wont connect automatically. And there is a little red cross over the Internet access icon in the bottom left.After I click to connect to the network it still cannot make the connection. And a yellow '!'' appears over the icon. After I click 'Troubleshoot problems" it will make connection though it can take a minute till its up.
I have checked the option to automatically connect to the network in range. And this used to work fine, but somehow it doesnt work correctly anymore.I have the latest bios and network drivers already.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe currently have 1 PC and my laptop connected to the internet with 0 hassle. My father brought in his work computer last night and asked me if I could set it up. Only problem is I cannot for the life of me have it connect to the internet.
He has a PC with Win7, and when I search for a network it says there's no connections available. The PC is inches away from the modem. Also, our other two computers had no problem picking out the connection after a quick scan.
I started to lose hope when I ran an ethernet cable into the PC to see if I could get it to recognize the connection.
No luck. This is not a brand new computer, it's his work computer that before the move was operating just fine.

However when my son tries to connect to my internet connection wirelessly his laptop does not detect my internet connection (I think) and consequently can not connect to the internet. We have tried to have him sit right next to the router and hopefully pick up a signal but that does not work either so I am guessing it is not a signal strength issue.
I have read some things about setting up a network and adding him but it seems strange that I would have to do that when he can go to his friends houses and pick up their connection without a problem or without being added to a network.
From reading around I believe it may be because my integrated wireless card is turned off, how I turn this on?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I bought a new laptop (Sony Vaio SVE1511HFXW) and I haven't been able to connect it to the internet wirelessly. I previously was working on a Sony Vaio VGN-NR series laptop that I had no problem setting up a wireless connection for. I ran my router set up disc on the new machine and basically everything got ruined. My other laptop lost it's wireless connection and connecting it with an ethernet cable didn't work either. So now both computers were not connected. Actually, all devices can't pick up the wireless anyway (I tried to get on netflix with my Wii and it didn't work) I restarted the router several times, reset it once and nothing happened. I could only connect with the cable after I reset the modem and router, but it's still saying it "can't detect an internet connection." When I ping the router I get an answer back.
Here's what I get when I run ipconfig in the command prompt:

I have an RV110W, there's internet access directly from my DSL modem, but when i connect my router it doesn't see the internet connection. I've changed the network cable and also confirmed the correct configuration in the router.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have used the WRT54GC (v2.0) router for a few years now, everything worked as smooth as butter, but a few days ago it just stopped detecting the internet connection. Everything works fine with the modem. After resetting the router, I tried to reinstall everything using the setup wizard but at the eleventh step, a pop-up message appears saying that it is "unable to detect the Internet connection" and, like I said previously, the modem works just fine. The username and password for the connection are correct (connection type: PPPoE).

checksum offload -> disabled
speed/duplex -> 100 mbps full
I tried setting it back to what it was before to no avail:
checksum offload -> Rx and Tx Enabled
Speed/Duplex -> Auto Negotiation
I'm still able to ping URLs and IPs, but cant get to any websites or even the modem page. I tried rebooting,power cycling...nothing works so far.
