Cisco Routers :: RV120W - Can't Access Static IP Devices Via VPN

Feb 27, 2013

I have a RV120W used to provide VPN access to several industrial devices. Some of these devices are assigned IP address via DHCP in the router. One cannot do DHCP, so it has a self-determined static IP.

The VPN works well for all the devices that are assigned IP's. However, it does not allow me to connect to the device that has a static IP. I can connect to it fine when I am on the LAN or WLAN, but cannot ping it via the VPN.

Cisco Routers :: Does RV120W Support PPPoE And Static IP

Oct 15, 2011

I am looking at replacing my existing Netgear Wireless router, and I am thinkg of using a RV120W.My ISP requires PPPoE (uname/pword) and my wife's company requires we have a static IP on our side for VPN connections.Does the RV120W meet these requirements?  In what I have found online, I see that the unit does static IPs and PPPoE, but cant find anything that confirms it will do both at the same time.

Cisco Routers :: RV120W / Bridge Mode And Multiple Static IP Addresses

Sep 11, 2011

I am trying to configure a BT Business ADSL Router (BT2700HGV) to work in bridge mode in front of a Cisco RV120W router and cannot get this to work.I have followed numerous posts I have come across in configuring the BT router for bridged mode and this has been configured as follows:

ATM Encapsulation - Bridge LLC
DSL and ATM - VPI=0, VCI=38 (also tried VCI=35)
ATM PVC Search - Disabled
Connection Type - Direct IP (DHCP or Static)
Disable Routing - Yes

There are also some other options on the same configuration page for 'Broadband IP Network' (which I have left on DHCP) and also a 'Public IP' which has been left blank.  After setting the above options this removes the LAN DHCP configuration, the PPPoA logon details and sets the internal IP address of the BT router to 192.168.1.254.

My understanding of 'Bridge' mode is that this router will now act simply as a modem and configuration details such as logon details and WAN IP address information are configured using the Cisco RV120W router? The configuration of the Cisco router is as follows:

Internet Connection Type - PPPoE
Username and Password set
Authentication Type - Auto-Negotiate (options here are PAP, CHAP, MS-CHAP and MS-CHAPv2)
Routing Mode - Router (Other option is 'Gateway (NAT))' - I have tried both options

The WAN interface on the Cisco router is connected to one of the LAN ports on the BT router.  The 'Broadband' light is on the BT router but the 'Internet' light isn't.  The WAN status on the Cisco router is 'Connecting'.  I am sure I am missing something simple. We have been assigned a range of static IP addresses from BT so am trying to get these working too (x.x.x.24/29 - 5 usable statics), another option available (other than PPPoE) for configuring the WAN interface on the Cisco router is a 'Static IP', not sure if this is the correct option but have tried messing with it, I have tried assigning a static IP from the range given to us (.30 - the router address specified by BT) along with the subnet mask, however don't know what to put as the default gateway, would this be the peer address (but assume that would change anyway), in any case, using the 'Static IP' option does not give an option to supply the BT logon details which I assume is required?

In bridged mode, what is the peer address assigned to, the BT router or the Cisco router?Does the BT router need to be configured with a public IP address?

Cisco Routers :: How To Allow Web Access Into RV120W

Mar 31, 2012

I had WRT54G2 and recently switched to an RV120W.  I have an Internet accessible camera system connected to my router.  Before, this worked fine... there is a dns service (DynDNS.com) that is configured as part of the camera setup.  I would then just enter [URL] and I would connect to the cameras.  I install the new router (RV120W) and I can no longer connect to the cameras.  I do not recall any configuring that I had to perform on the old router.

why the RV120W isn't letting me get to the cameras?

Cisco Routers :: RV120W Cannot Access To Any Host On LAN

Dec 5, 2012

I recently bought Cisco RV120W-E V01 and insall it in my home (with firmware 1.0.4.10). I want to establish PPTP conection from my notebook (when I am not at home) and to access (through VPN tunnel) to all hosts in my LAN (with no port restrictions). I configured VPN (PPTP) users and I can establish PPTP tunnel from client to RV120W. My traffic to Internet is going through VPN tunnel to RV120W and then out on Internet, and that is fine. What is not fine is that I can not access to any host on my LAN, and that is the main reason why I configured PPTP tunnel. It is not clear to me, when I am reading admin guide, what I have to configure to allow only my tunnel traffic to reach LAN hosts.

Cisco Routers :: Rv120w VPN Tunnel From Internet / Cannot Access Remote Servers

Feb 23, 2012

I have setup a site-to-site VPN tunnel between 2 sites using CISCO rv120w.Everything works fine; any PC on one site can access all systems on the other site and vice-versa.The issue I have is when I start a VPN connection another site on Internet using IPSecuritas.I can initiate a VPN to site 1 and site 2; but when connected, I can only access servers that are located into the same site I'm connected to; I cannot ping the remote site. The Range of IP addresses on the internet during my tests is 192.168.11.0 (I 'm using a Mac)

-Systems with IP 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.10.1 are bridges
-Systems with IP 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.10.2 are CISCO rv120w

Cisco Routers :: No Internet Access With Static IP And RVS 4000

Oct 26, 2011

I have an RVS 4000.  I have several PC's to which I have assigned static IP addresses.  I have recently upgraded most of the PC's to Win 7 (64) machines.  I updated the firmware on the RVS4000 to 1.3.3.5 in conjunction with this.  After such update (and actually before as well) I could not assign a static IP address to a PC and have access to the internet.  It connects fine to my LAN, just no internet access.  This is also affected on several other machines running Win XP and Win 2003 Server, so it's not just this computer.

I have:

1.  Shut down (powered off/unplugged) everything, router, DSL modem, switches, server, etc.

2.  As I said firmware is current.

3.  Yes, DNS servers and gateway, subnet, etc. are all correctly specified on the PC.

4.  Router is set for gateway mode.

5.  Set to only IPV4.

The only way it allows internet access is to use DHCP.  I've even tried taking the IP address via DHCP and manually assigning the DNS servers and that works fine, but as soon as I assign a static IP internet access is immediately gone.

There must be something I'm missing, but I can't seem to find it.

Everything worked fine prior to the conversion of the Win 7 machines, i.e. I had several PC's with static IP's and no problems.

Cisco Routers :: RV120W SIP Over VPN And 1.0.2.6 Firmware

Sep 24, 2011

Upgraded to 1.0.2.6 and all of a sudden SIP devices working over the VPN no longer work. Downgrade to 1.0.1.3 and they work again. My guess is that some ports are blocked over the VPN in 1.0.2.6

I thought the general idea was that firmware ugrades fixed bugs rather than introducing them.

Suggestion for Cisco:- Zip the firmware image downloads, or else have an upgrade process that includes a CRC check, that way at least the poor punter will have an indication if they have been corrupted. I had a subtle memory problem that was corrupting some files. The firmware upload appeared to complete properly and you could log on OK but some of the menu choices resulted in a hang with the "Please wait... the page is being loaded" message. Careful checking of file sizes revealed that the file I was uploading into the router was a few hundred bytes different in size to the one on the website, must have been corrupted during the download. But the upload proceeded normally with no indication of any error. It's a pretty basic safeguard that should be in there as a matter of course with the router performing a CRC check and showing an error if it fails.

Cisco Routers :: Cannot Get Vpn To Work Using RV120W

Sep 12, 2011

Rx:, recently I have perchase 2 RV120W routers thinking that it must be very easy to setup the site to site vpn. i cannot get my remore office to link to my main office and vice verser.

Scenaro

- I'm using 2 RV120W routers for each site.
- Site A using a subnet of 192.168.10.0 mask 255.255.255.0
- Site B using a subnet of 192.168.11.0 mask 255.255.255.0

I have setup the VPN using the wizard and I got site to site tunnels connected and show as 1/1 Connected (1 user)  in the status he IPsec connection status show

--Policy Name: VPNA
--Endpoint : public IP address from my ISP 203.117.222.221
--Packets Tx:145  Rx:0 and Kbytes shows Tx: 29.55 Rx:0

Q1  why I cannot use dynamic DNS naming in the policy setting ? eg: aaa.dyndns.org, I have to use the ip address instead eg: 203.117.222.221

Q2.  I cannot connect from Site A to Site B , I can't even do a ping to 192.168.11.1 from  Site A. even though it show the Site to site tunnel is coonected.

Cisco Routers :: RV120W Routing Through VPN?

Nov 21, 2012

I've just set up an IPSec VPN between 2 x RV120W which are both behind other router. Here's what we have :

RV120W #1 (192.168.1.254) --- (192.168.1.1) Office Router #1 (PUBLIC IP) --- (((Internet))) --- (PUBLIC IP) Office Router #2 (192.168.2.1) --- RV120W #2 (192.168.2.254)

[Code]....

Now, I need to be able to reach the server (192.168.1.100) from a PC on LAN #2 with IP 192.168.2.50. So, I've created au static route on Office Router #2 (192.168.2.1) because of course it doesn't know how to reach private subnet 192.168.1.x. My static route looks like this :

192.168.1.0 / 24 (Destination network) --- 192.168.2.254 (Gateway)

...but it doesn't work, no ping. When I do a tracert to server IP (192.168.1.100) from PC on LAN #2 (192.168.2.50), the result is :

1st jump ---> 192.168.2.1
2nd jump --> 192.168.2.254
...and it doesn't go further.

Cisco Routers :: RV120W-Bug In WAN Traffic Meter

Dec 21, 2011

I configured my RV120W (Firmware:1.0.2.6) to count the traffic on my network. I set the monthly limit to 99999 and did not change anything else.So after a few hours, the traffic counter shows 2048 MB for outgoing traffic. This is impossible, because the DSL-connection is too limited in upload to cause this huge outgoing traffic in 6-8 hours. When I reset the counter at night, the next morning the device shows 2048MB again (even if there was no traffic at all, just some clients syncing time with NTP). I did already reset the device to factory defaults and reconfigured everything from scratch.

The fact is that the set top box for the idtv needs an IP address that will be delivered directly from the ISP. I can't see anywhere a way to create such a bridge. Quite disappointing as it's possible to do so on open source platforms such as openWRT..
