We have installed a fiber internet access and have the ONT from the provider already installed. We're trying to use the RV180W to use this internet connection. [code] So I need to configure the router with the .36 static IP on the WAN, and using the .37 gateway and the provided DNS servers. I also need that this WAN is tagged with VLAN ID 20. I'm only able to set VLAN ID on the LAN ports via the admin interface.
I got : RV180W router updated with the last firmware.Static IP for the DMZ host (Synology Server 212+) My problem is that I had try all combinaison since 10 days to get IP source in synology interface (to block IP's of bad connections...) but, I only see the RV180W adress....So impossible to block bad connections IP.
I would like to ask if what is the difference between RV180W-E-K9-G5 and RV180W-A-K9-NA specifically the -E and the -A. As far as I know -A is the compliance code for Philippines. Am I right? If yes, what about -E? There is a documentation for wireless complaince on Aeronet devices but what about these SB products?
I installed the RV180W yesterday and decided to play with it a bit today. I got stuck on the firmware update. Tried different browsers on different PC's. Tried going to 1.0.1.9 first. I have the "reset all configurations" button checked. After looking through the posts here I'm not sure this firmware will even fix my next few problems(port forwarding etc). Is there a trick with this device?
I'm trying to make the VPN connection between two routers CISCO RV180w.I performed the basic configuration in cisco "server". I did the same in cisco "client".The following configuration and logs, do not know what to do ...
SERVER CONFIGURATION: IKE Policy Configuration: VPN Policy Configuration: CLIENT CONFIGURATION:
I am struggling to configure my new RV180w router to accept a VPN connection from my Apple computers.
I wish to use IPSec with Group and Pre-Shared Key authentication. The RV180 has just replaced my 800 series ADSL router and I want my remote clients to be able to connect using either the VPN client capability built into the OS X operating system or the Cisco VPN Client software installed on their Macs.
So far, using the RV180's web setup screens, I have created a VPN Policy and a corresponding IKE Policy was created as well. I couldn't see anywhere to include the 'Group' name. I have created a user but wasn't sure of which Protocol to use so I am trying XAUTH.
At the client end some people are connecting using Cisco's VPN Client software Download Software - Cisco Systems
Some people, with OS X 10.6 and above, are using the Mac OS X network built-in VPN client.
We all connected without a problem to the previous 800 series router using IPSec with Group authentication and Pre-Shared key.
i've installed the new firmware on my router and now the UC is showing 100% all the time. I've tried to factory reset it, it's doing the same thing. If I downgrade to previous firmware, it goes back to normal . I've only 1 PC in my network (test lab), so no big traffic here. is it a bug ?
I just recently switched from the WRVS4400N to the RV180W. I have 4 VLANs, and I want VLANs 1, 2, 3 to communciate freely, but I DONT want VLAN 4 to communicate with anybody, just Internet access. On the WRVS4400N, I was able to do this using the Firewall > IP Based ACL. I notcied that the RV180W, does not have such an option. I am sure there is something I am missing, I just cant find out how to isolate VLAN 4.
we've changed our rv042 for a rv180w and now when I try to upload files to my ftp server (vsftpd under centos) it get stuck at 100%.I've changed my ftp server to proftpd instead of vsftpd and everything's ok.but vsftpd isn't the problem since i was able to upload with my rv042 without any problems.so i guess there's a problem with the rv180w security.i've already disable stealth mode and it's doing the same thing when i try to upload to the same server but through the vpn tunnel, everything's ok.So it's really in the rv180w lan->wan routing
Have not purchased RV180W at this time, therefore have not read manual. Need for small office, 2 VPN logins max & not 24x7 use. What VPN client software ? (using Win7-64bit laptops)
I did notice software called Quick VPN Client 1.4.2.1 for download.
Does buying RV180W allow download of Cisco Systems VPN Client software ?
I am located in UK which uses PPoA for ADSL broadband. I use a DrayTek Vigor120 ADSL2 Modem to act as an ADSL bridge and PPoA to PPPoE converter. This passes the ADSL authentication requirement (and subsequent single static IP address) to the Cisco Small Business RV180W sitting behind the Draytek. However, the RV180 (Firmware Version 1.0.0.30) cannot form the PPPoE connection. I have tested the modem, adsl username and password by creating a PPPoE interface on my computer and connecting this directly to the Draytek modem. The computer receives the expected IP address and I can ping remote public IPs. I have entered the username and password into the PPPoE profile,
Authentication type: CHAP (confirmed by ISP but I have also tried all other options just in case). Connection Type: Keep Connected. MTU Size: 1400 (also tried default, which worked OK on computer interface). MAC Address Source: Use Default (I have successfully used combined modem/router so a "fixed" MAC address is not required).
I live in China. I want all of my PC's and devices to connect through the RV180W VPN Router to a VPN provider in the US so that all of my traffic is encrypted and appears to have a US IP address. I need to find a VPN Service Provider that supports the RV180W and how to configure it. I don't want to configure every PC and device, I just want them to use the VPN conneciton at the router.
I am using DynDNS in lieu of a static ip. My ISP changed my WAN ip last night as expected however the RV180W did not update the WAN ip, and so the router is now offline. Using a secondary internet connection I have logged into DynDNS.com and checked my hosts file and confirmed the ipa has not updated since March. I changed the update period from 360 to 2 so this never happens again, but I need to now change the WAN ipa in the RV180W to match the new one. I remember a screen that shows the current WAN ip address greyed out under the present one, but I dont recll where to go to get to that. I am at a loss as to where I go in the RV180W to change the WAN ip address.
We are deploying over 20 RV180W Routers for a client and need to find a faster way to configure them for shipping. We have created a base image (all settings that will be shared between the 20 locations), we need an easy and quick way to make IP changes for the 3 VLANs and Local Security Groups for the IPSEC VPN.I tried to edit the CFG file by hand, but the checksum fails when it is loaded into the RV180W.How can I accomplish this? Can I manually create the checksum? Can I remove the checksum?
Comcast has indicated that this is required for IPv6 to work, and since it means gatting a /64 address space for my network I am understandably eager to tak advantage of this new functionality when it is available in my area.
I am wanting to purchase the RV180W for a small Optometrist office. We are beginning our transition to EHR and what to ensure the RV180W is HIPAA compliant and if not what would be the next best product for about the same price?
I have rv180w (firmware 1.0.1.9) and 1 Gbit/s internet. When i turn on WAN Traffic meter, WAN speed down to 100mbit/s.I didn't find any suggestions in official documentation. Is this a bug or undocumented feature?
Our company own a RV180W router. It works well with firmware 1.0.1.9 but with firmware 1.0.2.6 it is impossible to SSH between our devices. Ping still works though.
We just recently invested in 5 RV180Ws to serve as replacements for the aging routers in 5 of our shops. Additionally, we bought them because they seem to offer robust WiFi options for customers/guests, such as multiple SSIDs and restricting 'public' traffic to it's own VLAN.
Straight out of the box we updated them to the new firmware, 1.0.2.6, set up 2 SSIDs (one hidden for employee use, and one broadcast for customer use), and plugged them in.
Everything seemed to be going great until we walked to the other side of the shop and watched the signal drop off almost completely. These are fairly small premises and the router can't be more than 8 metres from where the customers are, and yet the signal is so weak that it's almost unusable.
For reference, we have the WiFi running in B/G/N mixed mode to maximise compatibility. with the channel and width set to their defaults (Auto and 20MHz, I believe).
Moving the routers is only semi-viable; these are meant to serve as replacements for existing IT equipment, and the cabling situation means they can only really go in the office space near the rear of the shops. Also, it simply shouldn't be necessary; WiFi should extend well past 8 metres without issue.

Recently I bought a Cisco RV180W and would like to setup an IPsec VPN server for my team. However, it's asking for the remote client's IP or FQDN. How would I know the client's IP if I'm using WiFi connection from different places? Also, I'll be using my iphone to connect and the IP is not static. Is it Cisco not going to support this feature or already working on a fix? I searched the internet and some of the old topic on this forum. Seems like it's an old problem for RV220W and I don't see any intension that Cisco is going to provide a fix.
Also, I have an NAS and a PC connected to the RV180W on LAN. Seem like it's not possible remotely turn them on using Wake On LAN.
I am trying to set up DDNS for my network. Right now there are only RV180W for DDNS providers (DynDNS, TZO, and 3322).I wanted to use a free DDNS provider, however DynDNS and TZO are now pay only (or only a short free trial via credit card). 3322 seems untrustworthy, as Google is reporting that it is a security risk?Anyway, my question is: "Is there a way I use another DDNS service other than the ones offered by default in my RV180W?"
I have an RV180W Wireless-N with firmware# 1.0.1.9 The problem is that any Macintosh computer will not work with the wireless network. The problem is consistent with several MacBook laptops, running Leopard, Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion. The MacBook connects with the wireless network and obtains an IP address. However when the MacBook tries to access a web page, it fails loads.Accessing LAN assets like network volumes and printers works fine. All mobile devices, such as iPhones, iPods and iPads work fine.I have tried numerous wireless settings on the router and the MacBooks and nothing works. The problem happens regardless of what kind of wireless security is present. There is not MAC filter.
I am new to the RV180W. I am running the most recent firmware--version 1.0.1.9.
I am having trouble getting FTP to work with my QNAP NAS.
QNAP indicates that I should forward ports 55536-56559 to my NAS. I created a custom service to accomplish this, and then, under port forwarding, I selected the service and forwarded it to the private IP that corresponds with the NAS.
However, the port forwarding configuration only allows me to specify *ONE* internal port. With other routers I have always specified the same private port *RANGE* that corresponds with the public ports that I have opened up.
it is possible to route netbios broadcasts between VLANs using a RV180W. Presently i have the network configured with two vlans (one for each building). The RV180 operates as a DHCP server and internet gateway for VLAN 1 and a linksys product operates as the DHCP server and internet gateway for VLAN 2.With the addition of a static route between, we can ping freely between the VLANs, transfer files, etc. However, members of VLAN 2 must be addressed by IP in windows explorer by members of VLAN 1 and vice versa. I understand this is because Netbios broadcasts are not routed between the two vlans, precluding addressing computers by name. While this is not a critical problem, it would be "nice" if i could configure the RV180 to route only Netbios between the two (still hold other broadcasts such as DHCP). I understand this ispossible on higher-end cisco products through the use of IP-Helper addresses, but I cannot find any information on doing such on the RV180.
I have a RV180W and a EnGenius EAP350 Access Point. The EnGenius supports multiple SSID's and VLAN tags them. If port 1 on the RV180W has VLAN 1 untagged and VLAN2 tagged, any connection to the EnGenius always gets an IP from the VLAN 1, even though they are connected to the SSID which is tagged with VLAN2.
I am having a problem connecting to my office VPN from home since I changed my (home) router to the RV180W. I am not using pre-configured tunnels, I just connect to the office VPN using the built-in Windows PPTP client when necessary. I have a small network at home using the router in a NAT configuration on my static IP fibre DSL connection.
I had previously been able to connect using PPTP from either XP or Windows 7. Now I get "Error 732: Your computer and the remote computer could not agree on PPP control protocols". Unfortunately I don't know what hardware or PPTP server is used at the office.(I don't know if it is relevant but I have also configured the RV180 PPTP server to allow incoming VPN connections - this works fine. It doesn't make any difference to my issue whether it is enabled or not.)Are there any known problems using Windows PPTP client through the router in a NAT configuration. Is there anything I need to configure apart from enabling PPTP passthrough?
Edit: Just to clarify, the problem is making PPTP VPN connections from XP/Win7 on my home network over the internet to my office VPN/PPTP server, via the RV180W as my home router (using NAT/PAT).
Edit: More info. Looks like the office VPN is a Microsoft RAS server on Windows 2008 behind a cisco PIX firewall.
Edit: Just to be sure, I swapped out the cisco RV180W for my old netgear router and I was immediately able to VPN again with no issue from both XP and Win7. When I swapped the RV180W back in again, I was able to VPN from XP but not Win 7 so it looks as though the PPTP passthrough works occasionally but is intermittent. Just to be clear, the VPN is only intermittent using the RV180, it has always worked flawlessly on the other router so I don't think there is a problem with the internet connection or client/server configuration.
This router keeps dropping all connections under a load of about 30 devices. everyone will lose internet access for a few minutes until it comes back. All settings are correct. This doesn't happen unless around 20-30 users are actively using their connections, both wired and wireless.

I'm an architect working in a small office that happens to be home to two seperate businesses, each with their owner network. However, these two networks want to use the same large format printer. I recently purchased the RV180W since the Cisco representative told me i would be able to connect both networks to the router so they can both see the printer without seeing the files on each of the other networks. We simply want to share the same printer.
Network 1: 192.168.4.1
Network 2 192.168.2.1
Large Format Printer 192.168.4.151
Network 1 has the RV180W as it's router with three gigabit switches. Computers and peripherals are connected to the three switches. 1 port open on the last switch.
I want to configure the RV180W to see both 192.168.4.1 and 192.168.2.1
What settings need to be modifed in order to accomplish this? Do I need more equipment? Is it easier to put a wireless card in one of the computers on the 192.168.2.1 network and then set it to see the 192.168.4.1 network?
