I am trying to get my Cisco SG 300 10 to talk nicely with my Solar Winds box. The solar winds can read interface statistics but does not recognize CPU or memory information. What the OID is for the proper MIB to enable with views?
View 1 RepliesSetting up Netflow from the 7010 platform to Solarwinds?I implemented the following code on both of my cores (VPC/HSRP Redundant Linked Pair) but had the following issues:
1. One of the cores I could see was sending Netflow records every few seconds whereas the other was not doing anything
2. Solarwinds was not seeing any of those records coming in and was showing last update from both devices as "Never"
Note that I have netflow already working as my Riverbed (fairly intelligently) already updates Netflow.Also i was all set to debug this myself but there doesn't seem to be debugging for Netflow that I can see?!?
I have an ASA 5520 and I'm using Solar winds real time interface tool to monitor the through put of the port. It seems I can never get it to use more than 100mb, where should I check?
I have run a sh int giga 0/1 and it shows the port is 1000mb full duplex and the I have also checked the other end where it plugs into the LAN and this also says the port is running at 1000mb full duplex.
Unfortunately, my new PC is about as far away from the router as possible, which makes my wireless solution (£5 802.11n USB dongle) ineffective. I was looking into powerline Ethernet to solve this but then it occurred to me that my solar panels may interfere with its signal.Is this true? is it possible to get a strong wireless signal through 30m of stairs, walls and doors?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I have two stackable switches one switch uplinks to one 6509 core switch and the other connection uplinks to another 6509 core switch, and also the other stackable switch does not connect to the core switches. Because I am using hsrp and also we are not using vss then one uplink to the core is not in used only ones is so then how does creating an etherchannel between does two uplinks to both core switches benefit me in anyway such as more bandwith and using both uplinks at the same time or I'm I wrong?

2 SGE2010's with VLAN's defined as 10,20 and 30
Vlan 10 is the management VLAN, and it uplinks to our border router.Vlan 20 is the workstation VLAN, and all workstations point to the switch as their default GW? Vlan 30 is the ip phone VLAN, and all phones use this as their gateway.
I would like to put a LAG between said switches, we have some servers on the ip phone switch that need to be accessed by the workstation clients, and the single 100mb link through the router is probably not going to be enough.As I understand it, because the switches have different networks on them, a simple lag will not work. I did create a lag, and assign ip addresses to each side, however in that mode, it doesn't appear I can block vlan 10 from transiting the LAG, and with out that block I will end up with a logical loop, and spanning-tree will block one of the uplinks, or the LAG itself.
If I have two stackable switches were only one stackable switch has two uplinks one uplink goes to one core 6509 switch and the other uplink goes to the other 6509 core switch can a Layer 3 etherchannel be used if each uplink go to a different core switch, by the way hsrp is running between both switches and also can you give an example how data will be routed from the stackable switch through the ethernetchannel to one of the core switch accross the WAN to another core switch?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was looking for configuring QOS for two VLANS i have created. these will be for voice traffic vlan 22 and video traffic vlan23. i also have three other vlans for pc's, wireless devices and our cnc machines. we have 5 switches that are all SG30028P's with a single switch doing the intervlan routing (operating at layer 3). all of the switches are trunked back to the main switch and ive been through the guide written on how to do this on a single switch which i dont think is layer 3.

I'm setting up an SNMP poller to retrieve the ARP table (ipNetToMediaPhysAddress) from my SF300 switches. I can retrieve the table from SF300-24P and SF300-48P switches running Firmware Version 1.0.0.27, but get garbage for the MAC address when retrieving that same table on the same model switches running Firmware Version 1.1.1.8. Is there an outstanding defect on this code level? How can I retrieve the table showing the IP address to MAC address mappings?

We use them to route VLAN traffic to Remote Offices, Internet Connections, and WiFi Access Points.In one remote office we have a SG300-10 setup to route the HQ Network and the remote Office Subnet. The SG300 is Connected to HQ via Fiber and has multiple Tagged VLANs on it. If I do speed tests over the Fiber Link on the Incoming Tagged Netwotk I get Decent performance, 80Mbs. If I switch to a networtk that is not priginating from HQ, and have the SG300-10 route packet, I get dismal performance. 15-20Mbs.
I Fireded up a New SG300-28P FW v1.2.7.76. Added a the HQ VLAN 101 and new VLAN 1025 . Mapped some Tagged and untagged ports for each. Switch was connected to HQ Network as untagged VLAN 101. I put a laptop on an Untagged VLAN 101 port. Ran some tests, cam back with 750-850Mbs. Great. Put the same laptop on a Tagged 101 Port, Configured the NIC for Tagged VLAN 101, Same test, same Speeds, 750-850Mbs.I then Configured laptop for Tagged VLAN 1025. Connected to tagged VLAN 1025 port. Ran speed tests, resuts were 15-20Mbs!
I then Configured laptop for Untagged VLAN 1025. Connected to unagged VLAN 1025 port. Ran speed tests, resuts were 15-20Mbs!It was only the Laptop and the Connection to the HQ net on the SG300-28P. Why is the performance of this unit soooooo poor when it needs to route?Other Switches have FW v1.0.0.27 or FW v1.1.2.0. They have Similar speed issues. All Configured for Layer 3.
does the SG300 switches can be used with Microsoft NLB in Multicast mode?I know on traditional Catalyst switches you can statically "map" IP's to mac's and then to multiple ports but this doesn't seem to work correctly on the SG switches - it gives an error about the mac not being not Unicast?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a project in which we are using 34 Cisco SG200-18's each with a MGBLX1 (LC Single Mode Fiber) SFP mini-GBIC.All the fiber's come back to one building where we must "bridge" all 34 fiber connections. What hardware should be used to accomplish this? A L2 switch? For example, a 12 port SFP Switch with Fiber SFP's accepting the first 12 fiber connections, then other switch with SFP for the next 12 and so on, until there is a overall capacity of 36 and having patch cables between the 3 switches?
what cisco or non cisco hardware would work with these SF200-18's to accomplish this?
Any snmpset commands to add, modify and delete vlan table entries on SG300-10 switches? I checked url... however this information is apparently only valid for catalysts. The latest firmware is installed and the provided MIB files are used.

1. Can I use 4 SFP ports and stack of two switches at the same time.
2. Is it possible to use for stacking ports other than 24, 48?
3. What is maximum possible number of ports to use for stacking (can I get more than 1Gb thruput).
I'm going to have several SG300-28P switches to setup. I'll need to create multiple vlans for data, voice, and wireless traffic. I have the following questions in setting up this configuration:
VLAN 1 Management
VLAN 100 Data
VLAN 200 Wireless
VLAN 300 Voice
1) For managing the switches via IP, will LAN1 be the default management network? Should I create a seperate VLAN for managing the switches?
2) For uplinking the switches together, I plan to trunk a port to connect the switches together. What's the configuration on the trunk port to forward all vlans from one switch to another?
3) On some ports, I want to configure a trunk for two vlans (Data and Voice) where the phone has a pass through for PC. The phone supports tagging for the PC and the VoIP traffic. For example on port 10, would VLAN 100 and 300 be set to tagged?
We had a SGE-2010, just purchased 2 (two) SGE-2010P. I want to stack the switches (all 3) (unless there is a better way). Not sure what is needed hardware wise, and how to physically wire the switches. Had switches years ago (diff brand) that used a special cable that connected the switches. It seems that is not the case here. I have not used fiber in networking before so I am new to that part, I’m willing to learn, just need pointed in the right direction.Can all three switches be stacked, (1) SGE-2010 & (2) SGE-2010P? I THINK I need to use the GBIC port 4 to stack, I understand 1 port is enough if two switches are used, but what about three or more switches.What are the other GBIC ports used for? For 2 of the vlans i would like to connect them together between the two switches using LAG. Switch1 has Vlan 5 (ports 1-12) & Vlan 10 (Ports 25-36) with LAG configured on ports 1-2 and ports 25-26. I have setup the second switch identical to the first. But when i connect the LAG's there is no connectivty. If i disconnect one LAG the other starts working.Can you only have i interconnect LAG between switches?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are replacing some netgear switches with the Cisco SG200. The situation is relatively straightforward. We have a series of VLAN's coming in on a trunk from a service provider for our Metro Ethernet locations. These trunks then get cross-connect to various location for connectivity. The problem we have is there are two VLAN's that need to go to the same switch which provides access to our public IP block.
I set up the two VLAN's on the SG200 with the trunk port VLAN tagging on the service provider port. Then I set up a separate port for untagging the traffic with the PVID of the respective VLANS's as follows: [code] The public switch has no VLAN's configured (it is an SG200 too). If I connect GE2 to the public switch everything works fine. When I connect GE3 to the public switch, things die. I thought this might be caused by STP although STP should not be detecting issues like this across separate VLAN's. Disabled STP, no change.The same configuration with the Netgear worked without an issue. FYI, the VLAN's cannot be changed...they are defined by the service provider in this particular case. otherwise we'd just make them the same..
I currently have two SGE2010's with a 4-port LAG configured between them. I'm looking to add another two SGE2010's and I want to add redundancy at the same time. The switches are currently in standalone mode. I don't have fiber connectors and was planning on just using copper for the uplinks.
My questions are:
- Is it possible to use stack mode in conjunction with 4-port LAG groups to create redundant 4-port links between all of the switches? The documentation says that ports 24&48 are reserved for stacking - does that mean I can't specify a LAG instead?
- If 4-port LAGs aren't possible, does that mean that these switches max out at 1Gpbs uplinks if you use stack mode?
We have 3 SG500-52 switches that are stacked and configured for layer 3 that replaced a couple of SG2010 switches a month ago. Switch units 1 and 2 are for servers and unit 3 for the workstations. The switches are connected with stacking SFP+ copper cables, 1 1M and 2 7M cables. The problems are occurring between the workstations and servers resulting in slow traffic on some links and connection failures. A repeatable failure occurs doing a backup from a PC on unit 3 to a server on unit 1 and 2 (2 port LAG). Moving the workstation to a port on unit 1 results in successful backups every time.
Initially I was able to confirm packet loss between my PC (on unit 3) and the servers using ping (ping -f -c 100000 -s 1460) of about .1%. The iperf program in udp mode also showed some packet loss and in tcp mode showed slow connections. A week ago I then upgraded the switches from v1.2.0.97 to v1.2.7.76 and rebooted. After that the ping and iperf tests show no problems although there are still slow connections to samba shares and the backups still consistently fail.
I suspect there is a problem with the stacking connections and have searched for traffic statistics on the stacking ports to look for errors but have not found anything. Doing a snmpwalk didn't reveal anything that I recognized. There are interface counters for all the ports except the stacking ports.
I have a Campus LAN setup which is layed out using Cisco SRW2024 and SGE2000 SB switches. On the LAN we are running various services. These are CCTV, VOIP(SIP), Public Address(multicasting) and Internet hotspots to various locations. I have attached a layout of the setup. A unique VLAN is setup for each of these services.The problem we have is that the PA audio is breaking up at intervals making the output distorted this is also happening for the SIP phones within the facility. Using the user guide we have tried to setup QoS on the system but we seem not to improve the services.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to purchase a few Gigabit PoE switches for a small business and I am thinking that SG200 or SG300 switches are perfect for this purpose.
Layer 3 functionality in SG300 switches is not great - HSRP or any other next-hop redundancy protocol is not supported, dynamic routing protocols are not supported, policy-based routing is not supported, etc. I may get one SG300 switch for inter-VLAN routing so that I do not have to send traffic to a Layer 3 device for this purpose, especially because my Layer 3 device (ASA5505) has only 10/100 Mbps interfaces. All other switches in the network don't have to be Layer 3 switches, and I am thinking of perhaps getting SG200 instead of SG300 swithces. However, because I am a long-time Cisco engineer, and know ins and outs of the IOS CLI, I would much rather administer the switches with CLI rather than GUI. So, do SG200 switches provide CLI (even if it is not officially supported) or is the only Small Business switch platform that supports CLI SG300? I do realize that the OS running on these switches is not IOS, but after having reviewed the CLI manual for SG300, I would say that 90+% of commands are identical to IOS CLI commands.
Am looking into using stacking and NIC teaming to create redunancy for user access to servers. What I am thinking is getting 2 SG500-28 switchs and configuring them in a stack that appears as one logical switch. Now on the servers I would configure 2 NICs to be a team so they appear as 1 logical interface, perferably in an active/active configuration using LACP. In this NIC team take 1 team member to switch A and the other to switch B, so each team member is on seperate switches.
Givent the scenario:
1) Will that work with the 500 series switchs? Reason for the switches is their price point is perfect for my client.
2) Besides the stack link will there also need to be a LAG between the switches or does the stack link do data traffic also?
I have two SG300 serie switches and two Gigabit connection between them. How do I configured these two links to work toghether like a one 2 Gigabit channel?

I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 2960S switch and nine (9) 300 switches. I have three VLANs configured on them, data, voice and management. Each 300 has unique data and ovice VLANs corresponding to their locations. All of the 300 switches connect to the 2960 in a hub and spoke network topology via 802.1q trunks. I can access devices between switches on the data and voice VLANs fine from any other switch. My issue is that from any 300 switch I can access the 2960 management VLAN interface without a problem, but I can not access the 300 switch management VLAN that I am connected to from the CLI. I do not use the GUI at all for management.
