Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 - HSRP Duplicate Address 0000.0c07.ac01

I have some question about HSRP in 3750 switch. I have two Cisco 3750 switch which configured HSRP. Let say, we have interface vlan 100 that join in HSRP group member 1. The configuration on both switch is like as follows :
SWI-3750-A (Active)

In NX-OS release 4.2(8) a feature was introduced to supress duplicate IP address warning messages in DCI environments. When using the same HSRP addresses in both DCs but blocking the HSRP exchange, ARP still detects these duplicate configuration and writes log messages. There obviously is a feature to suppress this but I do not find any reference how to enable it.url...

I have two 2960's in this new environment that I am administering. I am receiving a message on one unit (Designate it 2960-2) of %IP-4-DUPADDR: Duplicate address 192.168.168.8 on Vlan1, sourced by 3037.a63e.540. The "sourced by" address is the 2960-1. I do not know how these units were originally set up. How can I determine where the duplicate address is originating from. When I perform an ARP -a the address that corresponds to the 192.168.168.8 is the mac address of the ethersvi interface on the 2960-1. Cisco 3750 switches
Windows XP / 7 / 2008 clients
I'm having some weird issues were if a client connects to a switchport and happens to be using a static IP address then the client warns of a duplicate address problem. Also the client will then only show the default gateway within ipconfig even though the IP address / mask is still in the GUI network properties of the adaptor. This is happening with Windows 7 and Windows 2008 devices.
Windows XP clients don't get the issue.
Some clients will use 802.1x native supplicant and some will be authenticated based on MAB. Not noticed the problem with 802.1x clients but it always occurs on MAB.
I came across a similar issue here: URL
Going of that blog I tried using the "ip device tracking delay probe delay" command but the switches don't recognise the "delay" keyword.
The switches are 3750 switches running version 12.2(58)SE2.
All I have is "count, interval, use-svi" as extra options.
Catalyst 4500 switch guide has "delay" option but no "count, interval or use-svi".
The only way I have managed to avoid the problem is using the second solution which is a registry hack on each client. This is fine for the odd server but not realistic when there will be hundreds of other clients.

Recently I had came across 1 issue where one of the server IP had conflicted with VIP of Nexus core switch. The blade server was physically connected to Nexus Distribution switch which in turn connects to Nexus core. Neither Nexus core nor distribution had generate any logs in regards to IP conflict which ideally happens on Cisco catalyst switches. I haven't find any document on cisco as well as on internet for this issue . I dont know what logging need to enable on Nexus for this specific case . There are different logging levels define for every feature like hsrp, ip,monitor etc...
We have Nexus 7k with latest release 4.2(6) Software
BIOS: version 3.22.0
kickstart: version 4.2(6)
system: version 4.2(6)

I've run in to this on 3750G's in a various sized stacks. We apply port security for a mac address on a single port (not existing on more than one port - that's a different issue that appears in multiple posts already). In this case:
1) We do a 'sho mac address-table and see that the device with the mac address in question lives on one port, port 1/0/x.
2) We apply mac port security for this exact same mac address to the same port it is already attached to. switch(config)#int g2/0/2 switch(config-if)#switchport port-security mac-address 001a.1ec8.abcd
3) Get this error: 'Found duplicate mac-address 001a.1ec8.abcd'.We again confirm that that is the only port on the entire switch that has this mac-address.Try the command again, same error.
4) We do a bunch of show commands, get in and out of the switch, go back and then try it again, and now it works, same command, same port and same mac address.
-Aging is default 300
-These are Cisco wireless AP's attached to the switch
-This occurs on different switches with different ports using different mac addresses, always same symptoms.

I am facing a problem in implementing HSRP. My scenario is like this, I have two 3750 switches and I have a server with two NICs. I want to run HSRP in these two switches. By the way the server is connected directly with the switches. I mean each NIC to each switch.we have teamed the two NIC (Active / Standby).what configuration need to done in switches to work HSRP.

What should the duplex mode to be set on a routed port gi0/21 that are running HSRP ? I try setting the gi0/21 to full, but it caused the port to be down. The only way for the port to be up is setting it to half duplex.

I understand on older IOS codes If the same hsrp group number is assigned to multiple standby groups, it creates a non-unique MAC address. Is this true on newer codes like 12.2(52)SE for 3750 & 3560?

We have our WAN setup as explained in the attachment herewith. As of now, We have a IP 1 configured as HSRP IP in the LAN switch end at Site A and Site B. As per the HSRP priority, Site A's WAN router will preempt to be the Active WAN router. 1*1Gig link at both DCs connect to the respectve WAN router.
But with this setup, we experience a WAN outage whenever there is a link disconect at Site A - as HSRP fails over from Active to Standby(Site B) and again when the link at Site gets restored. To avoid this :
Is it possible to have the HSRP configured over a port channel at Site A and B (or atleast at Site A) ? In that case, will there be a need for the ISP to change their configuration except to configure a port channel ? The ISP has Cisco 7000 series router which connects to 3750 stack at DC lan.

I have a few old 2600 routers (2621, different IOS's) which I'm now replacing for new one's from the 2900 series (2901, Version 15.1(4)M4).In my configuration I have two IP addresses in my LAN interface and I have HSRP configured within the secondary IP subnet range. It would be something like this:
interface GigabitEthernet0/1
ip address 172.x.x.x x.x.x.x secondary
ip address 10.z.z.z z.z.z.z
[Code].....
Now, in the new 2900 routers, my interface configuration hasn't changed however I can see that the hello packets are now sent with the source within the respective HSRP IP subnet so I had to edit my acl for that:
permit udp 172.x.x.x x.x.x.x host 224.0.0.2 eq 1985
Is there a way I can force the HSRP to work as it previously did in the old IOS's?

I have my hsp setup where switch A and switch B share active/standby roles among several vlans. In the last few weeks, i have seen trouble tickets where connectivity is lost and upon investigation i discover that i can ping physical interface IP addresses for both standby and active devices but not the standby IP. I have also validated configurations and layer 2 paths and they haven't been broken.
What I end up doing is failover to the standby device and back and the problem clears, reachability is restored. My question is whether I am solving this the right way. If so, what is it that would cause the standby IP to not be reachable and how does my solution fix that? N/B the switches are catalyst 6509's.

Having 2 router with 2 sub interface configured with HSRP. The server sending the data have the route default gw xxx.xxx.xx.252 HSRP address. But on of the routers did got HW problem so we did shut it down, R2 with IP xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.251, problem so the traffic didn't go there correct when was using the HSRP address some packaged went there but not all of them no blocks in the logs. But then we did change the server direct to to the working router R1 xxxx.xxxx.253 everything did start working fine again. was working fine. Logs i got in the router was max tcp half-open connections.
I am wondering if something wrong in the configuration below and why the traffic didn't got there correct when using the HSRP address. Its working fine when using R1 IP address. The devices are 2 Cisco 2620 routers.

ip address xxx.xxx.xxx.253 255.255.255.192

My actual Scenario
1 x 4500 and 1 x 3560?They are gateways of 8 Vlans? They are doing HSRP in each of those Vlans? The 4500 is the Active? There is a DHCP Pool for each of those Vlans on both gateways using "ip dhcp excluded-address" I ensured that the range of provided ips by each DHCP server will not be overlapped Obs.: Reducing the lease time, I ended with the calls bringing related problems.
OK, every thing is blue, every thing is fine. But the network diagram is realy complex(41 switchs, 89 uplinks), and depending of how is the network flow, one or other server answer first or latter.
For many reasons I would like that the secondary DHCP server would answer only if the primary DHCP server goes down.To me, the bigger reason is that DHCP database would be only in one DHCP server. But there is other reasons.
I passed by many frustrated solutions:Try to force a delay on the answer on one of the servers. - Impossible.Try to disable DHCP server, and, using EEM, enable it only if router became active in HSRP. - I couldn't do It.
What I'm thinking now is use the HSRP resource to resolve it.On both routers I would put a "ip helper-address" pointing to an Virtual_HSRP_IP.And depending on which router is the active, him will answer the request.
My first doubt is:Would it work? The second doubt is:Could I use the same Virtual_HSRP_IP that exists on that Vlan(see example 1),or I would need to point it to a Virtual_HSRP_IP in a different Vlan(see example 2)?
Example 1
-----------------------------------
| 4500 |
-----------------------------------
interface Vlan1
ip address 10.10.0.2 255.255.0.0
ip helper-address 10.10.0.1
standby 1 ip 10.10.0.1

I have switch 2960 and router that connect with one interface to that switch. the link is trunk and Router function is inter vlan routing between 4 vlan. This netwrok has only one ip address space that is 10.10.2.0/24 and work without problem. We connect cisco switch 2960 with optic link to another switch that in stack 3750 which configured as trunk link and allowed only 3 vlan between them. In the other side netwrok which consist the switch 3750 we have different subnet ip address that switch working in layer 3 too. the problem is that when I permit vlan 210 in the switch 2960 only layer 2 between this switch and the 3750 in network that consist th ip address 10.10.2.0/24 devices, if I disconnect and then connect pc to network he says that he has ip conflict and in the log he show mac address of router that has vlan 210 subinterface configured with 10.10.2./24 subnet. But how I gibe back vlan 210 from permited vlan in trunk devices start normaly working. If I again put vlan 210 to permit vlan in that trunk devices again said that there are conflict ip address and show mac address vlan 210 router subinterface.

Today when we run one applcation to access a target server with IP address 10.2.2.13, the application cannot run through and appearing error message related networking. The target server has two network ports whereby another one with IP 10.2.2.14 is running OK with the same application. All these two connections are connected to the same Cisco switch 3750, after the switch then go to Cisco ASA firewall which has no access control rule for this 10.2.2.13 and its subnet, and then the firewall connect directly to the application server. We can ping, remote desktop access and telent port for the application to the target server by using 10.2.2.13.We swapped the cable connection of the ports from one another and try the application again, the IP with 10.2.2.13 is still fail and IP with 10.2.2.14 is OK.We then change the IP from 10.2.2.13 to 10.2.2.12 or 10.2.2.155, all are OK. We changed back to 10.2.2.13, it is failed again. The switch is in running real time production and so we cannot power cycle or reload the switch.

There is a unicast flood on 3750 killing slow modem links. How to determine source MAC address of flooder? Is there a rate limit feature for it?
I know how to block it completely on port-level, but it breaks normal network operation. (when port goes down for some reason, it's learned MACs got flushed and since other hosts know MACs, they keep flooding untill their arp caches expire).

I have just moved to the 3750X switch and have connected it to a 6509E. From the beginning I was having OSPF encryption errors, followed by flood warnings, LSA issue's, duplicate IP's which is baffling me.
There are no IP's which match on either switch however the 3750X was continually power recycling causing the interfaces drop continually.Even after disconnecting from the 6509 the 3750X continue to behave in the same manner. Could there be some issue with this switch?

I have a duplicate router ID problem that is confusing to me. A 6509 and 4510 swich both show the same router ID, but only the 6500 has the router ID IP address configured in it. We are running EIGPR. The 6509 has L0 as 164.72.239.1 configured, which is it's router ID. The 4510 doesn't have 164.72.239.1 configured on it, yet that's what it's router ID is. Below are a few show commands displaying this - and as you can see from the 'show run | include 239' from the 4510 there is no 164.72.239.1 configured on it:
6509 chassis
interface Loopback0ip address 164.72.239.1 255.255.255.255end
RS6509-Core-A#sh ip eigrp topIP-EIGRP Topology Table for AS(1)/ID(164.72.239.1)
Codes: P - Passive, A - Active, U - Update, Q - Query, R - Reply, r - reply Status, s -
[Code].....
why the 4510 has that router ID?
I know I can configure a different router ID on the 4510, but I'm curious as to why it is the way it is.

In some cases I receive normal response when pinging from one Nexus, but no response when pinging from the other switch. In other instance I receive normal response to one Nexus, and duplicate replays to the other. It looks like a VPC related bug. NXOS is 5.1.3.N2.1

I have created 5 new 2 Gig port channels on a 6513 WS-X6516A-GBIC blade connecting to 5 4510R+E switches. 3 of the 5 Port-channels show up/up. 2 show down/down. However, for the 2 showing down, a duplicate Po interface was created with an "A" appended to the name that shows up/up. E.g:
Port-channel26 unassigned YES unset down down
Port-channel26A unassigned YES unset up up
Each of the 4510s has a second 2Gig PO to another 6513 with an identical config and all of those come up fine.

I am facing an isssues with 7609 for LAN switching , based on LAN (VRRP/HSRP) feature.Actually we are having ES+ cards (on 7609) and we are using multiple groups(say 350 vrrp groups) running on the router . the routers are connected as router 1>>> mux(which is working as switches)>>> router2
my questing are
1. does their will be "multicast packets" (for VRRP/HSRP group) "from backup router to Master router", when in stable state( ie when Master and backup are already chosen) , or the packet from backup to master should be unicast.I know for sure, the packet from master to back is multicast packets denstination to Multicast IP packet and To MAC address.I am not sure but I think from backup to master it should be multicast
2. what is frequency of these packets( from backup to master)
3. As i have multiper group on a single interface ( we are using q-in-q), when the connectivity from router's is broken, then does all the groups will muticast their active roll in the lan sengment "at once" or it will be in a groups say 100 groups at once, and after few ms few 100's and sone ( as is on OSPF or RIP)
we are in between troubleshooting I hope we get the ans( Actul problem we are seeing in the router's that we have 2 ports on active routers and 2 ports on standby router , but we are not seeing muticast on 1 port on standby router where as all other 3 ports are seeing multicast packets) [code]

We had a core switch (4503), distribution switches and access in our network and consists of many vlans. Almost all vlans uses DHCP Pools. But for few vlans DHCP is not yet configured. Recently one of the rogue user in vlan 1 gave the corresponding interface vlan ip of core switch (gateway) as his ip and caused a prolonged network outage for the vlan. Any way we are going to seggregate vlan 1 into different vlans, but before that we need a temporary plan to block such kinds of attack. What are the possible ways we can avoid the network outage problem even if a user gave the gateway ip to the machine?
