Cisco Switching/Routing :: C1841 Router IOS Upgrade Using CCP
Feb 4, 2013
I've tried to upgrade IOS on C1841 router (Cisco IOS Software, 1841 Software (C1841-IPBASE-M), Version 12.4(15)T7, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3); System image file is "flash:c1841-ipbase-mz.124-15.T7.bin". using CCP2.5 and couldn't do it as CCP was coming with errors for any IOS. I can't install the latest 15.1 or 15.2 as there is not enough space on flash, it has 192M/64M. So I tried 12.4(24)T8 such as c1841-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T8.bin; c1841-advsecurityk9-mz.124-24.T8.bin; c1841-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T8.bin but CCP was showing loading errors. So I copied c1841-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T8.bin software to flash manually and reloaded the router, now it shows this IOS, but when I start CCP it shows these errors:
-License feature cannot be discovered. This and associated features may not function correctly.
-Static Route feature cannot be discovered. This and associated features may not function correctly.
-Switch Port feature cannot be discovered. This and associated features may not function correctly.
I'm not sure now if that new IOS installed correctly or there is a bug in CCP.I suppose that CCP shouln't show any errors regarding IOS upgrade and after that.Is there a matrix or some kind of pattern for that router IOS upgrade?Should I use a series of upgrades and I can't jump to any IOS?
Needing to upgrade IOS on 2800 router from c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.123-14.T7.bin to c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.124-15.T13.bin. I noticed ther are several other files on the old code that may needed for booting up router but Im running low on memory. The other existing files are ;
We currently have a Cisco 1841 router with version 12.4(1c) of IOS using image c1841-ipbase-mz.124-1c.bin. Our goal is to make it so our router can fully support IPv6. The current IOS version cannot. I've seen a site that seems to indicate 12.4T does support with IP Base image but recently had Cisco tell me with the latest IOS release 15.1.4.M4 that I have to use either the "Advanced Enterprise Services" or "Advanced IP Services" image. Did Cisco just remove IPv6 from IPBase in later IOS releases?
Also I've seen conflicting specs on the max amount of Flash and DRAM the router can support. The following link shows that 384MB is the max for DRAM and 128MB max for flash. We're looking to upgrade ours from 128MB and 32MB respectively but as mentioned I've seen it where higher amounts are supported. In fact we bought a backup 1841 to have and it has a 256MB Flash card in it.URL
Last but not least. Where can I find a straightforward documention of this situation where we may have to upgrade our Flash and DRAM and then upgrading the IOS?
I upgraded a 2811 router to the latest version and apparently everything went smooth. I reloaded and did a sh ver the IOS show the correct version, but the boot strap shows the old IOS. How can I change the boot strap to show the new IOS.
I'm having problem on my 1841 it won't boot. No response on console but the led lights seems to be normal.I tried removing the CF then turn it on again to see if the router will go to rommon but didn't happen. I did try using another pc thinking the com1 is faulty but still no response on console nor rommon not showing up.
For some test in my lab , I ordered on e-bay a AIM-VPN board , they guy told me that it work in a C1841.When I compare to the one I have in my C2621 , they look equal. On both pcb I can read : CN6I280AAA
I have C1841 as EZVPN server and remote C1841 as EZVPN client. Connection between them is providers L3 VPN, so it is not over the internet. IPSec tunnels go up with no problem. Client is NEM. Problem is that traffic won't go via IPSec. No packets are encapsulated. I want all trafiic to go via tunnel, no split tunneling here. On client side Dialer0 is outside interface, since L3 VPN is over ADSL. On server's side I have only one interface connected to corporate network. Peer address is server's loopback address.
After IPSec is up, server gets remote subnets as static routes and redistribute them to OSPF. That part works fine, but remote site's traffic doesn't flow over IPSec to the coorporate LAN. Could be TCP MSS or something like that?
I have a cisco 1841 router and a cisco 2900xl switch. I am trying to get my ACL's to work, but when ever I do an extened acl and let certain one in (80,443,21,etc) my computer gets an internet error saying it cannot conntact the dns server. I've tried severl ways to fix it, but cannot seem to get it to work.
Right now i just have access-list 1 on. Eventually I would like to have only "Apple" and 101 on.
Current configuration : 2050 bytes ! version 15.1 service timestamps debug datetime msec service timestamps log datetime msec no service password-encryption(code)
I am trying to upgrade the IOS in 3560 but I am facing one issue. Its flash is 15MB & available space is 8MB whereas the IOS is of 11MB. How can I upgrade the IOS without upgrading the flash?
We would like to install a WS-SVC-WISM2-1-K9 in each of our 2 WS-C6509-E chassis. Both of these have supervisor 720 engines installed. One in each chassis. From what I have read we need to upgrade the IOS to 12.2.33 SXJ4. Is this correct? If this is true then what are the memory requirements for the upgrade to this IOS version. Below is the output from Show version? Is there sufficient memory instqalled to do this install?
i'm trying to find information about the licesing of ios package. I need to upgrade a C2911 from 15.1 to 15.2, the router have a permanent uc license, will be that license permanent also after the upgrade? I'm not able to find documentation about when the license need to be reissued after an upgrade or not. I know that for maintenance release upgrade there are not problems but i'm not sure about minor upgrade.
Question for you all regarding a NME-16ES-1G-P installed in a 2811. The NME is running a C3750 image (c3750-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5.bin). I need to upgrade the IOS and an wondering why the download center is pointing me at C3560 images. I downloaded c3560e-ipbasek9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin and it failed and was stuck in a loop booting and resetting over and over.
I am currently running 12.2 (53) and am looking to move up to the 15+ train. Are there any pre-reqs prior to the upgrade that any one is aware of?Unfortunately I have no "lab environment" to test it in. I have production switches with minimal impact to the campus and if done late night I could have it restored back before open of business the following morning. My FW is up to the latest version and I have found nothing in the release notes specifically stating that there would require any stepped upgrades up to v15 and higher.
I have a 3560, which is being used as our core router that I have recently installed. It still has the standard IOS which came with (C3560E-UNIVERSALK9-M) it but I need to implement policy based routing so need to upgrade it and have downloaded c3560-ipservicesk9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin and indeally would like to install it in the morning before people start work.
I have 2 questions, 1, Is the ipservices capable of PBR as I have been reading conflicting reports, in fact my friend who works for Cisco has advised that it is not possible on the 3560.
2, When I do upgrade will there be any current configurations that are not compatible with the new one, I wouldnt image that there would be any but just wanted to make sure as it would be the biggest headache ever if it went wrong.
I have a couple of 3750G-24T-E switches running IOS 12.2 I would like to upgrade to IOS 15.x. Is this possible? Where do I find some information on the required licenses and costs? I must admit that the cisco search function did come up with a few pages but i was not able to extract the required information. I have not used the new software activation features yet.
Tonight we were performing an IOS upgrade on our 6509 VSS to 122-33.SXI6. Both 6509's have dual Supervisor cards installed. Initially we had problems with switch 2 slot 5 supervisor returning to rommon however switch 2 slot 6 supervisor loaded correctly. After manually setting the boot var in rommon, switch 2 slot 5 supervisor reloaded correctly.
After all supervisor's were online we noticed when looking at " show switch virtual redundancy" that sw 1 & 2 slot 6 supervisors were running the correct IOS version but sw 1 & 2 slot 5 were running different IOS versions, however when looking at the show version we are running on the upgraded IOS??? See output below...
Why the active supervisor has loaded the incorrect IOS the VSS is running on the upgraded IOS? I have verified the IOS was copied correctly to each supervisor bootdisk, I see no issues.

I have a couple of 6509-E combined in a VSS system. I need to upgrade them to support 8 (or 16 at max) 10G uplinks. I already used the two built-in VS-S720-10G fiber connectors for VSL links. Which Ethernet modules do you suggest to use? are there any related upgrades that I have to do?
I've a router C877 and my provider has changed the connection to vdsl2. I'd like to know if it exists any upgrade of a new IOS for this router to supports vdsl and vdsl2.
I am using using an old 2900XL switch which has IOS V 11 which I tried to update to IOS 12.05. I followed a cisco procedure which instructed me delete the current OS file and then upload the new one with TFTP server.
I managed to delete the file however seconds after the deletion we had a power cut so now the switch is without an OS and all of the commands that I could need to continure the IOS upgrade are not available. What can I do to update my switch now?
I have a situation where I have a 3750-X stack bought with the 350w power supplies. A "show Inv" lists model as "WS-C3750X-48T-L". I now need to suport POE in that space. Is it possible to add in a 1100W power supply and have the switch support POE or is the chassis different and cannot support POE, no matter what PS is installed?
I have C3560 switches in my work environment. I want configure ssh on that switch but the IOS what they have 'c3560e-universal-mz.122-58.SE2' not support. As per advised I was triying to upgrade 'c3560e-universalk9-mz.122-58.SE2" for all my access switches.
I successfully upgraded for two switches.
I have two problems now
01. I upgraded the IOS successfully one Switch but the Poe is not working. What is the reason ?
02. After upgrade the IOS, the out put is as follows
We are going to upgrade our IOS on our WS-C2960G-48TC-L. But before we do that i want to ask whats the best IOS release to choose. Why we want to upgrade is because our switch software now don't support ssh just telnet access
The 3750-12S-S comes with IP based IOS. I know it is possible to upgrade the IOS on a 3750X-48P-L from LAN based to IP based IOS. However, can the IOS on the 12-S be downgraded to the LAN based IOS?
I just tried to upgrade my Cisco 2600XM router from 12.3-6 IOS to 12.4-25d IOS, but I was unable to start the router with this new IOS.

I am in the process of upgrading our stack of 4 switches consist of WS-C3750G-48PS. Upon reading release notes found that there are two versions of release notes 1 day apart, the one 02 Sep 2012 saying that WS-C3750-48PS is not supported in this version. Then in release next day 03 Sep 2012 that note has been removed. Which one is correct. Is it supported with my model of switch or not. Also unable to update boot path in the stack switches, "switch all" is not supported in the current IOS. Any other way to update it. Master switch has new boot path but unable to change in slaves.
