I am trying to upgrade my 2960 edge switch through tftpd...i have configured vlan 1 with IP address 172.16.10.1 and tftpd as 172.16.10.2 I am trying to ping tftpd, but I couldn't, but when I try to ping vlan 1 from tftpd, i can?
View 6 RepliesI am trying to upgrade my cisco WS 2960 24 TC-L switch with the IOS image c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin and my existing IOS image is c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-50.SE5.bin. when i am copying it to flash, it is getting copied but when i tried to boot it after entering command boot system c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin , it gave me an error.
both flash dir and error are attahced herewith.
Today I'm going to be re-organzing my network, kind of and I just wanted to get a second opinon. Right now I have an ASA 5510 and a Cisco 2911 and a Cisco 2960 (and I have two more 2911s and 2960s that handles our phone network).
Router 2911 is on the edge Gi0/0 has the public IP and Gi0/1 is not used and then I have 5 individual VLANs (Gi0/1.100, 1.200, 1.300, 1.400, 1.500) VLAN 100 is our internal network 10.10.18.1/24 (router is 10.10.18.1)And the 2960 is used for swichport access, the ASA is on the side and only used as a VPN.
What I want to do is put the ASA on the edge so I can dump all the access-lists and everything then 2911 will only be used to route the traffic. Now I know I will have to reconfigure the VPN, which isn't a problem. My question is when putting the ASA on the edge do I just put the public IP on the ASA's e0/0 and then plug the 2911 into the e0/1 of the ASA and give the Gi0/0 of the 2911 the ip address of 10.10.18.1 or do I just shut it down? The reason behind this is because I would actually like to use the ASA for more than just the VPN passthrough.
i have a problem with a cisco cat. 4507 edge switch as when i have a login ssh session to the switch the supervisor engine restart and the redundant Sup. engine becomes the active and so on this problem mainly happen when i have multible SSH session to the switch and it happened very rarely with a single ssh login
the ios version i use is cat4500-entservicesk9-mz.122-54.SG which im using on all my edge switch and they are all working fine excpt this one
We are going to upgrade our IOS on our WS-C2960G-48TC-L. But before we do that i want to ask whats the best IOS release to choose. Why we want to upgrade is because our switch software now don't support ssh just telnet access

1) Do I have to delete the old directory (drwx 192 Mar 1 1993 02:07:21 +02:00 c2960-lanbase-mz.122-35.SE5)?
2) Are these the correct steps to download and extract the IOS?
3) Where will the tar files be extracted? Will an new directory be made or do I have to make one manually?
I have a switch 2960-24TC-L with GEC (realised with 2 giga interface uplink) with switch 3750. the configuration is ok, the GEC is up and other feature working. I try to upgrade 2960-24TC-L from 12.2.44SE6 to 12.2.46 or 12.2.5x or 15.0.x...the upgrade it's ok the swithc boot..and the configuraiton is same.. but the giga 0/1 and 0/2 on 2960 not bring up....and the better the interface on 3750 are up.

The best solution for me would be if all the switches could be reloaded at the same time to shorten the maintenance-windows. So my question is: If I run the upgrade (archive down load -sw) before the maintenance-windows WITHOUT the reload-option, will then the switches continue to run without interruptions with the current IOS- version and config until I run reload manually?

I have a Cisco SG 300-20 as the core switch, layer 3. It is 192.168.4.6 on VLAN1 and 192.168.5.1 for VLAN2 (VOIP). All the ports are set in trunk mode. DHCP relay is setup on this switch.
The phones connected into a layer 2, Catalyst 2960-S switch. All ports are set in trunk mode. Default gateway on it is set to 192.168.5.1.
DHCP for both VLANs is provided by a Windows Server 2008 R2 server (the relay IP 192.168.4.15).
There is also an ASA 5510 in the mix which is 192.168.4.1. It has a route added to it for the 192.168.5.0 network to go to the SG 300 (192.168.5.1).
Just the two switches can ping each other on the 192.168.5.x network when I "add vlan 2" to the trunk port that is connected between the SG 300 and the 2960. The phones don't get DHCP on the 2960 switch. And I cannot ping 192.168.5.x from the ASA or anything else on the 192.168.4.x network.
After a bit of reading on intra-vlan routing for the SG 300 switch, I am thinking the SG 300 has to be the "center" of things so I need to make it 192.168.4.1 to be the gateway for both VLANs and change the ASA to 192.168.4.2 for VLAN1, etc. And I really can't do asymmetric routing with this switch.

I have a statck of 4 2960s switches, with POE powered access points on 2 of them. All of the access points appear to be functioning normally. For some reason, on 3 interfaces connected to access points, I get the following when issuing show interfaces status:

I am setting up a new 2960-S switch and none of the recommended username and passwords combinations work. I have tried CIsco Cisco, <blank> cisco and various other permutations.
I have tried to reset the switch to factory defaults and it still doesn't work. The switch is currently connected to a 3560G and has been assigned an IP. I tried to telnet in and the message says that a password is required, but none is set. I tried the SDM as I hadn't turned it off yet and it is prompting me for a user/pass but I have no idea what to put in there. No console is available, it's a new office so no employees around either.

I have configured each VPC for each floor and portchannel configuration on 2960s switch to communicate to 5K switches. Now I am not able to communicate PC 1 connected in 1st floor to PC2 connected in 4th Floor.

Much to my dismay, I have been able to get http and https enabled, and then authenticating locally for the HTTP access. I then come to the screen once authenticated which is shown below:
The issue is that when I select "Web Console", it gives me a "Web Page Cannot be found".
