When auto-QoS is enabled on the switch, priority queuing is not enabled. Instead, the switch uses shaped round robin (SRR) as the queuing mechanism. The auto-QoS feature is designed on each platform based on the feature set and hardware limitations, and the queuing mechanism supported on each platform might be different. There is no workaround. I have enabled syslog on my Cisco 2960S swtich as shown below -

I have sent the port to TCP since that is what is configured on the SYSLOG server which is a CENTOS 5.8, running rsyslogd.I have tested the rsyslogd locally and it work.However i want to send any and all log messages in the buffer to my syslog server and it is not working.there is no firewall on the CENTOS and the ASA firewall filter is enabled for outgoing traffic.
I have a weird situation with some switches.
Switch .55 can ssh into Switch .57 but cannot ssh into Switch .56.
Switch 56 can ssh into Switch 55 and ssh into Switch 57
Switch 57 can ssh into Switch 55 and ssh into Switch 56
The software on .56 is:
C3560 Software (C3560-IPBASEK9-M), Version 12.2(55)SE3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
I noticed on .56, when I do a show ip ssh I get: SSH Enabled - version 1.5. It doesn't say version 1.99 like the others even when I configure version 2. Is this a bug I am running into?
I have a Cisco SG 300-20 as the core switch, layer 3. It is 192.168.4.6 on VLAN1 and 192.168.5.1 for VLAN2 (VOIP). All the ports are set in trunk mode. DHCP relay is setup on this switch.
The phones connected into a layer 2, Catalyst 2960-S switch. All ports are set in trunk mode. Default gateway on it is set to 192.168.5.1.
DHCP for both VLANs is provided by a Windows Server 2008 R2 server (the relay IP 192.168.4.15).
There is also an ASA 5510 in the mix which is 192.168.4.1. It has a route added to it for the 192.168.5.0 network to go to the SG 300 (192.168.5.1).
Just the two switches can ping each other on the 192.168.5.x network when I "add vlan 2" to the trunk port that is connected between the SG 300 and the 2960. The phones don't get DHCP on the 2960 switch. And I cannot ping 192.168.5.x from the ASA or anything else on the 192.168.4.x network.
After a bit of reading on intra-vlan routing for the SG 300 switch, I am thinking the SG 300 has to be the "center" of things so I need to make it 192.168.4.1 to be the gateway for both VLANs and change the ASA to 192.168.4.2 for VLAN1, etc. And I really can't do asymmetric routing with this switch.
Does the Model "WS-C2960-24PC-L" Supports IP Routing or not?

I would like to be able to use Vlan 10 192.168.155.1 for SSH remote management.
I have a statck of 4 2960s switches, with POE powered access points on 2 of them. All of the access points appear to be functioning normally. For some reason, on 3 interfaces connected to access points, I get the following when issuing show interfaces status:
Gi3/0/9 connected: T 7 a-full a-1000 10/100/1000BaseTX

It doesnt like my password, but I have only set 1 password (king) on this switch. I've configured 3 other switches with SSH and had no problem. Been trouble shooting for awhile and It'd be great if I could have a 2nd set of eyes take a peek, Also, my running config is attached.
I am setting up a new 2960-S switch and none of the recommended username and passwords combinations work. I have tried CIsco Cisco, <blank> cisco and various other permutations.
I have tried to reset the switch to factory defaults and it still doesn't work. The switch is currently connected to a 3560G and has been assigned an IP. If I try to access it from Network assistant it shows as unmanaged and I get prompted for a username and password.The switch is connected to another new 2960-S via a FlowStack module.
I configure multiple static RPs and one of the ACLs denies a source will it move on to the next entry that covers it in another acl? [code] i.e. 1.1.1.1 will be used as the RP for 224 to 238 and 2.2.2.2 will be used as the RP for 239.Will that work correctly, i.e. if a source is trying to register with the router and its for the group 239.1.1.1, will it be denied against the first RP and then permitted against the second RP?

I have a Cisco 1841 router connected to a Cisco 2960 switch.Users behind the router can't access the internet but when someone is directly connected to the switch with his PC and uses the IP Address found on the WAN port of the router, he's able to go on to the internet. [code]
View 4 Replies View RelatedToday in my rush to get home I plugged in a new 2960 stack and did a little bit of very basic configuration, but no passwords were set. I tried to telnet in and the message says that a password is required, but none is set. I tried the SDM as I hadn't turned it off yet and it is prompting me for a user/pass but I have no idea what to put in there. No console is available, it's a new office so no employees around either.

I have configured each VPC for each floor and portchannel configuration on 2960s switch to communicate to 5K switches. Now I am not able to communicate PC 1 connected in 1st floor to PC2 connected in 4th Floor.
I have attached topology map of my infra and the configuration files also. 1st floor switch and 4th floor swich have same configuration except IP address and switch name.
If I knew the IP address of a host, can we know on which port on the switch its connected. The switch model is 2960
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a client whom has asked me to enable web management on some of his 2960 switches. I did not think this was going to be an issue, and so I told the customer I would set this up for him.
Much to my dismay, I have been able to get http and https enabled, and then authenticating locally for the HTTP access. I then come to the screen once authenticated which is shown below:
The issue is that when I select "Web Console", it gives me a "Web Page Cannot be found".
I have a Cisco 2960-S Switch, It is connected to a jack in the building to check the settings, Interface VLAN 1 has an ip, there is a default gateway, Any host connected to switch can access the network resources. But the problem is that I have to use Serial Cable to configure it. I cant ping or telnet into it from any other device. PC's are on different subnets/VLANS.
Basically this switch is connected to a port in a different switch, Do i have to make a trunk?
I have a 2960 that bounced several times over the weekend and then appears to have lost its configuration. Using CDP from the backbone switch pulls up the information below. I am trying to upgrade my cisco WS 2960 24 TC-L switch with the IOS image c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin and my existing IOS image is c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-50.SE5.bin. when i am copying it to flash, it is getting copied but when i tried to boot it after entering command boot system c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin , it gave me an error.

I am working on Multicast scenario, There is one 6513E switch one 2960 switch. Two VRF's are configured in core switch (6513) IPTV-SRV and Villa-VRF IPTV-SRV vrf has IPTV server and Villa-VRF has IPTV i.e. client.
V LAN 30 is mapped to IPTV-SRV vrf with subnet address 192.168.30.0/24
V LAN 12 is mapped to Villa-VRF with sub net address 192.168.12.0/24
I did the following configuration for VRF but its not working . i am not an expert in multicast design but seems i did most of the configs.

Now i saw the lights when connect to BB1 is not light but i do not know which command will show the root cause or troubleshooting.
I want to know its caused by hardware, physical port or whatever. Any on can sharing the experiences how to show and troubleshooting this issue?

Trying to control capacity utilization for guest users connecting to a 2960 switch. No problem for IPv4 users, but IPv6 is giving me fits. What I've found out by trial and error so far implies that there is just enough IPv6 smarts in a WS-C2960-24TT-L running c2960-lanbasek9-mz.150-1.SE to make it impossible to control IPv6 traffic. Blocking IPv6 would be sufficient short term, but MAC filtering on type 0x86DD does not appear to work either. Here are the results I've gotten so far:
What "works":
* Protocol ipv6 or an IPv6 ACL in a class map.
* Using a class map referencing ipv6 protocol or an ipv6 ACL in a policy map.
* IPv4 inbound filters and policing.
* Blocking of IPv4 traffic by a MAC ACL blocking type 0x0800 (IPv4) - note that the docs explicitly state that MAC filters do NOT filter IP traffic, except for on this box on this release they do.
What does not work:
* Applying a policy map referencing a class map referencing protocol ipv6 or an IPv6 ACL to an interface. The service policy is accepted by the parser, but is not inserted into the running configuration.
* "class-default" in a policy map only matches IPv4 traffic, not all other traffic.
* Blocking of IPv6 traffic by a MAC ACL blocking type 0X86DD. No problem applying the access-group to the interface, it just doesn't do anything.
I am aware that this box is not supposed to support IPv6 other than for multicast, but as implemented, this is a hole an abuser could drive a MAC truck through.
My questions:
Is this situation unique to this particular 2960 switch or SW release (I also tried 12.2(58)SE2) or does it afflict all 2960's running LANbase?
Assuming the answers to the first two question are negative, what is the minimum requirement to get working IPv6 policing in an edge switch?
