Cisco WAN :: 3750x - Internet Is Working Only On VLAN 1

May 23, 2013

I  need to connect two switches with each have different Vlans and wants  to Connect the users of These Switches to Existing Network of  Company(Vlan 1 ; showing Right in the picture).

I  have created Vlans and able to route packets from Two Vlans (10,20) to  VLAN 1 but i am unable to get access to Users existing in vlan 10,20.

Internet  is working fine from VLAN1 and existing network did not have any router  ,it is just a DSL modem and did not have Static /Default Route  option,NAT.

What Option should i choose for it. 3750x have 12 Mini Gbic Slots and 1 Routed port and did not have any NAT options in it.

I am trying to configure a new metro ethernet and have some questions about the configuration. The physical layout is a main office and two remote locations. The remote sites are point-to-point connections to the main office, tagged by the ISP with VLAN 130 and VLAN 140. The connections aggregate into one handoff at the main office, and are plugged into Catalyst 3750-X switches at all three sites.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750x - Denying VLAN Access To Other VLANs

Mar 18, 2013

I've got a 3750x stack set up as my core switch (only a small-ish environment) - I'm shortly going to be deploying an enterprise wireless network with Corporate and Guest SSID's. I'm going to be putting all traffic from the Guest SSID in VLAN 244, and don't want it to have access to any of the other VLANs (1 (Legacy Eqpt), 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 248 & 252).

IP ranges for all the main VLANs are:

1: 10.0.0.x/22
4: 10.0.4.x/22
8: 10.0.8.x/22
12: 10.0.12.x/22
16: 10.0.16.x/22 etc etc (you get the pattern)

I'll probably give Guest traffic (VLAN 248) the IP range 192.168.10.x/22 (not because I NEED that many addresses, but it's easier for everyone to remember/understand if I keep the subnet masks the same all round). However I also have a CCTV VLAN (252) which already has the range 192.168.0.x/24, which some people in other VLANs WILL need access to.

So my question is: What is the syntax for the ACL on my 3750x (IP base - 15.0.2) to prevent traffic from VLAN 244 gaining access to any of my other VLANs. I'm making a broad assumption here that a layer 3 switch is perfectly capable of supporting that function? I need ALL the syntax for setting up ACL's - I've never done it before

My gateway device by the way is 10.0.4.1, and I do have inter-VLAN routing set up on the core switch (obviously).

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750X-12S No Spanning Tree On Native VLAN

Oct 7, 2012

I am migrating an existing LAN from 3550 to 3750X-12S. In the existing configuation, I´ve got some trunks with native VLAN <> 1. The native VLAN is also used for user data transport. With IOS 15.0(1)SE3 on 3750X I recognized, that per default behavior PVST is not active for a VLAN defined as native, even if the corresponding trunk is up and trunking. My current workaround is to add a "switchport access vlan" command on the trunk even this one never should become an access port. With this statement only the switch is activating the PVST for the native VLAN. For all other vlans PVST works as exspected. [code]

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Vlan Redundancy / Segmenting Public IP Block 3750x

May 21, 2012

I'm building a new colo presence with a full class C of public IP's. The idea is to connect to our ISP with a 3750x switchstack and they will be providing two ethernet drops that conect directly into two seperate switches on their side with HSRP and BGP at the routing level, so we will just point to their virtual IP (gateway address).I'm not sure how to either segment the public ip block or statically route each ip address and the interaction of vlans/svi with HSRP groups. Just use the switch at layer 2 or handle the internal routing with eigrp or ospf at layer3?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750X-24 - SFPs In SFP+ Position Not Working

We have 6 CWDM SFP (2x 1470nm, 2x 1490nm and 2x 1510nm). All the switches are up and running with 1 problem: the SFP's in the SFP+ position didn't work.

Only the gigabit port 1/1/1 and 1/1/3 are connected. Gigabit 1/1/2 stay disconnected. I already did some test with other SFP's and labels. Do I need to disable the ten gig ports in the configuration?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ASA And 3750x Switches - How To Get VLans Working

Jan 25, 2012

How to get vlans working properly between sub-interfaces on a ASA and a trunk port on a switch. There seems to be issue with the VLAN's being assigned to the correct VLAN and this information being properly sent to the ASA over the trunk.

We seem to be unable to ping most of the interfaces except for one on the switch. Sometimes if we are lucky we are able to ping a host on a different vlan that is on the switch. This seems sparadic at best.

Logs on the ASA show traffic does not seem to be assigned properly to the correct sub interface. We have access rules on the ASA disallowing traffic not part of the same vlan. For example you will see networkA blocked on networkB when it really should be directed through networkA's sub interface.

Any example commands for the ASA and Switch for at least the basic requirements to enable all the VLAN's to communicate properly with the ASA?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Stacking 24 And 48 Port 3750X Switches Not Working?

Dec 11, 2012

We purchased a number of 3750X 48 and 24 port switches for the College Campus. Am finally getting around to getting them inserted on the network. Working with a WS-3750X-48PF-S and a WS-3750X-24P-L. Have them stacked with the 10Gb uplink on the 48 port switch. Have not been having fun.In the boot sequence, the switches recognize they are stacked, but as soon as they finish boot, I get the message on the 48 port switch: “Stack Port 1 Switch 1 has changed to state down.” Then “Stack Port 2 Switch1 has changed to state down.” Am noticing that I have a message preceding that: “Major version mismatch with stack neighbor.”The 48 port is running c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-1.SE3, HBOOT 12.2(53r)SE2.The 24 port is running c3750e-unversalk9-mz.122-55.SE3, HBOOT 12.2(53r)SE2Most of our 3750X and older switches are running 122-55 or 122.58 code. IP base or Universal. There is speculation that the problem is the 24 Port is Lan base, as the part number might indicate. (WS-C3750X-24-P-L.... I think that is the part number) and the 48 is IP base. Both switches are Universal, and my understanding is that they don't care about LAN or IP Base until you enable a function that falls in the IP Base domain. Then I have to call Cisco Licensing. For these switches, LAN Base is fine, based on the boot message, I feel the real problem is 122-55 versus 150-1 in the stack. So.. the question is: Do I downgrade the 48 port to match what we have in our environment, and what is on the 24 port switch. Or... Upgrade the 24 port switch to match the 48 port switch and have an installation that is not consistent with our environment? I do have two more edge closets to install with this purchase of 3750X 48 port switches.

Cisco WAN :: 3750 - New VLAN 220 Not Working?

Aug 15, 2011

I am into creating a new VLAN, what I have missed in the setup / configuration. I have multiple Cisco switches, the VLAN is configured on a 3750. My attempt was to place the VLAN on one port (as concept) and work from there - - so it is on 2-02 of my main Cisco stack. The new VLAN is 220 - Printer. My present IP scope is 192.168.200.x - running out of addresses - trying to add 192.168.220.x. on VLAN 220 to relieve some pressure - -- Most I can do is ping the VLAN IP - 192.168.220.1 and that resolves - - but if I attach a networked device with a 192.168.220.x address - - cannot get there..

Here is the switch info...

parser config cache interface
no service pad
service tcp-keepalives-in
service tcp-keepalives-out
service timestamps debug datetime msec localtime
service timestamps log datetime localtime

Cisco WAN :: ASA5505 Inter Vlan NAT Exemption Not Working

Dec 4, 2012

Short version is we cannot communicate between our subnets. We have a Cisco ASA 5505 we are using for our network router.  We  have a Netgear L3 switch behind that with 10 vlans. Each VLAN is on its  own subnet.  (10.0.10.x/24, 10.0.11.x/24, etc)We have PAT for each subnet to our outside interface.  Each subnet NATs out properly currently.I have NAT exemption enabled for 2 of the subnets (eventually I will need all, but am just testing at the moment). I have tried multiple ways for the NAT exemption to allow all traffic  from our inside VLANS.  At this point in time I am trying to get  "Engineering" to communicate with all hosts on "AuthUser". I can ping some hosts, but not as many as if I am directly on the  interface.  I can reach a port 80 service, but not 443.  I cannot access  anything via hostname or NetBIOS.What am I missing to allow higher security level interfaces to fully communicate with lower security level interfaces?

Cisco :: Dynamic Vlan Assignment With 1242AG And IAS Not Working

Dec 13, 2012

I'm having trouble getting the dynamic vlan assignment to work on my 1242AG Cisco Aironet APs. I've seen multiple cases with a similar setup and configuration where it works just fine.  I've tried everything I can think of. IAS and AD is running on Windows Server 2003.Everything works fine except the vlan assignment.  Wireless clients successfully authenticate through IAS and Active Directory, but instead of being switched to the appropriate vlan the client stays in whichever vlan/ssid it originally connected to.PEAP is the authentication method, using MS-CHAP v2.  Naturally I have the attributes in the policy set appropriately,[code] I've attached the config for the AP, which shows that I have two vlans/SSIDs set to cipher, aes, network eap, wpa, etc. I noticed that if the Tunnel-Pvt-Group-ID attribute is set to a vlan id that doesn't exist on the AP then the AP makes an event log saying so.

I labed the VLAN as 5?I went to the "Create VLAN" in the SG200-26 and also created VLAN 5 and under Voice VLAN the ID is 5.Then I went to the SmartPort and assigned GE24 as IP Phone + Desktop. That was OK. But when I go to the SPA303 and Enable VLAN and VLAN ID 5 I get Initializing Network. I am able to ping the 172.20.5.1 which is the gateway for the VLAN but still pull no IP. I also have an DHCP range assinged the subinterface.I also am using Cisco Configuration Assistant. I can see the switch SG200-26 and my IP set but it shows no IP. Cisco Switches :: SG300-10 Auto-Voice VLAN Not Working Properly

Nov 7, 2011

At our office we use seven Cisco 300 Series Small Business Switches. One main switch in the server room and one in each room. They work great! But I’m having difficulties getting the Auto Voice VLAN to work correctly. In fact, it seems to works straight away on a PoE model, but not on the non-PoE models.

Switch (main server room):
Cisco SG 300-28 (PID:SRW2024-K9)-VSD
Switches (one in each room):
Cisco SG 300-10 (PID:SRW2008-K9)-VSDCisco SG 300-10 (PID:SRW2008-K9)-VSDCisco SG 300-10 (PID:SRW2008-K9)-VSDCisco SG 300-10 (PID:SRW2008-K9)-VSDCisco SG 300-10 (PID:SRW2008-K9)-VSDCisco SG 300-10P (PID:SRW2008P-K9)-VSD

All these switches use firmware v1.1.1.8. The switches in each room are connected to the central switch by Link Aggregation. The main switch is configured in Layer 3 mode and all the others in Layer 2 mode. We have a lot of VLAN’s configured. For this problem allow me to describe only the two that are relevant.

VLAN 102 - Internal Network (Clients)VLAN 104 - Internal Network (Voice) The switches on each room are mainly used for clients, printers and IP phones. The clients and printers should operate in VLAN 102. The IP phones should operate in VLAN 104. For this to work I have the 10 port switches configured as following.

The network is fully routable. A DHCP Server is available. Each VLAN uses DHCP relaying. If we statically assign a VLAN to a port, that just works fine. Auto Voice VLAN is enabled with VLAN ID 104. All switches are configured the same. But this is what occurs…

When I connect an IP phone on the SG300-10P the IP phones are assigned to the Voice VLAN ID 104. If I would connect a desktop to that same port it is assigned to VLAN ID 102. Exactly as it should. But when I connect an IP phone on a SG300-10 the IP it is assigned to VLAN ID 102. But I also noticed that in some cases they are assigned to VLAN ID 1 and don’t get an IP Address. That depends in which order I change settings. The port its VLAN membership is then even changed to 1P. Although the port is recognized as an “IP Phone” by the smartport feature. I have noticed it does make difference if I modify the smartport macro and change the native_vlan paramater from "1" to "let's" say "102". That seems to affect it. Of course it may be just coincidence. What am I doing wrong? How should it work? How should you actually configure each port on a switch? (trunk?, Tagged/Untagged VLAN?)If you do not use Telephony OUI. Do you still need to configure the macros on the smartport defenitions?

I have tried about everything. I have also tried Telephony OUI, but it doesn't make any difference. I just can't get it to work properly on the non-PoE switch.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560 - Vlan Trunking Between Switches Not Working

Jun 3, 2012

We have two Cisco switches with one 3560 and one 3750 we have created a new Vlan 4 with IP 10.1.3.x 255.255.255.0 - no shut then assigne to gi 2/0/46 on the 3560 Vlan 4 ip address 10.1.3.x 255.255.255.0 no shut then assign to FA0/45. All interfaces are up up along with the Vlan up up, we can ping the local IP address bu not able to pint the other switch.
