Cisco WAN :: Catalyst 3750-E CVR-X2-SFP For Gigabit Option?

I have 2 Catalyst 3750-E and I have to make a uplink beetwen them with optic fiber but the uplink will be at 1GB not with 10GB but the default port speed is 10GB on the optional module.I have a CVR-X2-SFP but I don´t know the cli command to convert the Te3/0/1 and Te3/0/2 on Gigabit Interfaces for SFP, what is the command?
im currenly configuring a 4500X with 16 port. All sfp are 1Gig, but when I input show ip int brief, it shows that the interfaces are on 10 Gig. Does Catalyst 4500X already support the 1Gig SFP without inputting a command or do I have to configure it to activate the 1Gig interface?
Are all ports on Catalyst 4500X Gigabit/10-Gigabit or just the ports on 8-port module. We are looking at 4500X for campus distribution layer but need Gig ports to access switches for now and may year from now will be using 10G.
I can assign IP addresses to any of the 24 FastEthernet ports (it is a 24 port switch!). However, I have fitted the WS-G5482 Gigabit adaptor to give me Gig ethernet capability. It does not seem to be possible to assign an IP address to the adaptor.I realise that as it is an 'add on module' (well, a plug in module) this is different to the 24 port in the 'body' of the switch. I also have read that these Gig adaptors will only connect to other Gig adaptors (I found that out by trial and error, and then confirmed it by searching here).it's not possible to assign an IP addy to one of the plug in modules; it is not a big deal but I am planning to assign some IP addresses for remote management etc. I was going to use the Gig port for this but it may not be possible.
AH PS I am using the switch and connecting to the internet via the Gig adaptor, then out from one of the fastethernet ports to another little switch and then on to a router and out to the internet, so the switch and the plug in module are working fine.
We are looking for a solution to avoid VPNs to encrypt data between HQ and Bldgs (point-to-multipoint) Gigabit fiber(untrusted media).Is there any cisco's product providing layer2 encryption over Giga fiber?The HQ has a 6509s and remote bldgs have mixed of 3750s,4500s in trunks.
I have two switches, WS-3750-24PS-S connected in two cabs via fiber. Patch panels at both ends with patch leads. Used tester to confirm end to end fiber connectivity. When plugged in, one switch lights up the other does nothing.
same at both ends. Tried both GI ports same result. swapped transceivers over and the same result, (one switch lit one not - the same switch in both cases). put both transceiver in each switch, (gi0/1-0/2 in a single switch). on the one that lights up in the original scenario we get link on both ports and they come up, on the other nothing happens. shut down both ports on the malfunctioning switch and no shut them, no change.
Show transceivers doesn't show transceivers on the malfunctioning switch, and no attempt is made to bring the ports up if the fiber is removed and replaced.
it is almost as though the two gb ports are kaput. Anything else I can try?
According to the following Cisco webpage, cross-stack 10-Gigabit EtherChannel is possible on the 3750 with up to two 10-Gigabit modules, using LACP: url...However, the webpage doesn't confirm if this functionality is restricted to a particular 3750 model, such as 3750E, or if it applies to all models. It also doesn't specify any particular IOS feature set. I've tried Cisco Software Advisor but it doesn't list this feature on either the 3750E or 3750-X. This is possible on the 2960-S switches (i.e. cross-stack 10gig EtherChannel)?
I am looking to uplink an HP Blade Chassis to a Cisco 3750-X with SFP+ for 10Gig on each end.I would like to use Direct Attached SFP+ cables if possible.I already know that the HP Virtual Connect module will not accept a Cisco Direct Attached cable at the current firmware.Cisco Nexus 5000 has a feature allowing connectivity with the HP Direct Attached cable using "unsupported" mode.
Im just starting to learn cisco, currently I already have a cisco catalyst 3750 configured for 3 vlans, and now im planning to have another 3750 for redundancy.
have 3 Catalyst 3750 in same stack, the IOS version is 12.2(53)SE2. Today we can not telnet/ssh to this switch, but ping is ok, and switch function is ok. I try to access the console port, it show "low on memory, try again later". After I reboot the master switch in the stack, the master switch change to another switch, then I can telnet/ssh to this switch. I check the Ciscoworks server syslog report, there are many MAC address flapping error message, and I beleive the MAC address flapping occured before several weeks. ( the G2/0/15 & G3/0/15 is connect to a VMware ESX server and the EtherChannel config mismatch with this Catalyst 3750 switch ) How to mention the root cause of the "low on memory" problem and what is the abnormal memory usage ( free memory percentage below ?% )?
my Catalyst 3750 switch. Following a power cut the switch no longer boots up. The SYST light flashed green but no POST checks are made. I cannot see any boot messages from the console port either. The switch was on a UPS but some thing may have damaged the switch.
There is a requirement to configure tacacs and radius on catalyst 3750X (version 15.0) where two vrf exist.Is therer a solution to configure "tacacs-server,host x.x.x.x vrf yyy" ?? I know it is possible to configure under the "aaa group server radius xxx" the command "ip vrf forwarding yyy".Is there anything else for the tacacs-server and radius-server command?
Working on my CCNA w/ live equip, I accidentley deleted the hardware IOS- yes, beginners mistake. Upon bootup, I do not get a command prompt. I tried the recovery procedure(hold mode button before power up) recommended by Cisco to no avail. My issue is I use SecureCRT & the charaters/font is ineligible. Here is an example of what I see when typing; "þæb Bûÿÿûýÿ¿¿ÿÿ". Currently, the SYST indicator is blinking & I have no access.
I just want to know how many ospf routes a catalyst 3740 support ?The cisco doc or datasheets doesn't answer this clearly. Because there is only a statement "unicast routes"!? Does this means all unicast routes (eigrp, ospf....static)If so, there is a statement for about 10k routes ?
I have a Catalyst 3750 I want to add to an existing stack (same models) through the stackwise port We use some complex QoS and other features on our network, and I'm not sure how much configuration I need to do on the new switch before adding it to the stack. Since this is going into an existing setup?
I have an Ethernet Loopback Plug (4 Pairs) made and trying to test the Gigabit Interface on a 3845 Router with a fail result. The interface will show up/up only if I set the interface to 100M/Full Duplex when I plug-in the Ethernet Loopback Plug (4 Pairs). I don't see this Gigabit Interface @ 3845 router has any option to set it to internal or external loopback.
I was browsing the Software Adviser on Cisco's website to look for a suitable IOS image, for a 3750. The system displayed a couple of suggested IOSes. there was no mention of IOS 15.0SE version.Could the Software Advisor be not up to date with the current Catalyst IOS releases?
I have CISCO catalyst with VLANs (VLAN ID 33, 36, 40-53) configured. I need to configure port mirroring in Switch 3750 for NAC (Network Access Control). I need to Monitor all the VLANs. I have customer who has as Core Switch one Cisco Catalyst 3750 with the IOS c3750-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5.I know that this image support DHCP Server configuration, but I like to implementate new vlans (approx 15) and I want to know if this switch support 15 DHCP Servers.
How to setup a port channel between a SG200 and 3750 and am having problems.
What do I need to do on the SG200 I have added the port into the lag but the port will not come up.
I spent half a day messing arround with the web interface and I am unable to get the port to come up.

if I read the Datasheet of Catalyst 3750X-Series-Switches it is possible to connect a new X-Switch to an existing and old Catalyst 3750-Series Stack.What kind of requirements are needed? Only same IOS-Version in the hole Stack and if possible same Feature-Set? .... like in a normal NOT mixed Stack?
I have 3 VLANs here that need to be on the same network segment. They are going to be used by our Wi-Fi network (with Aironet APs), bound to 3 different SSIDs (as Aironet APs doesnt allow multiple SSID per VLAN), each one with a different authentication method and server.Is there a way to bridge those VLANs together with a Catalyst 3750 switch? I tryed configuring an IP address on one of the VLAN interfaces, then configuring a bridge with the vlan-bridge protocol (Catalyst 3750 doesnt have the "ieee" bridge protocol type) and put all 3 VLAN interfaces on the same bridge-group, but it didnt work (even with "bridge x route ip").I also tryed configuring IRB bridging, with the 3 VLAN interfaces on the same bridge-group and an IP address on the BVI interface (the way I used to do with old 2600 routers). Same result.(actually, I didint test to see if the interfaces are actually being "bridged", but I see neither of them can reach the router)
I am trying to use a SF302-08P switch to connect a conference phone (Cisco 7937) to my infrastructure. I connected the G2 port on the SF302 to a Gig copper port on the Catalyst. I configured both ports as trunked ports and port e1 on the SF302 as an access port for the phone. VLAN 1 is the default VLAN and VLAN 10 for voice. However, the phone does not connect to the Call Manager. I have changed the configurations on the G2 trunked port and the ethernet port (trunked ports, general ports, tagged and untagged). I have also changed the configuration on the Ethernet port (general, access, trunk, set it on the default VLAN, in the voice VLAN, etc.) The SF302 connects to the Catalyst, and PCs connect OK.
why the AutoQoS macro does not implement "priority-queue out" when configured on the 3750 platform running certain versions of software. The only other platform I have experience with AutoQos is on the 4500 and it enables priority queuing as expected. So what's up with autoqos on the 3750 on version 12.2(35)SE5?
When it comes to configuring QoS on campus user/phone access ports there are some important settings that can and should be considered but one can argue that enabling the priority queue is the single most impactful or important command. So I was very surprised and concerned when I didn't see priority-queue out. Cisco describes AutoQoS as a simple, quick way of deploying QoS on the LAN and it precludes you from having to learn all of the differences between hardware platforms. But is it true that this tool produces an incomplete config solution? Let me know if I am missing something.

Our servers are hosted at the Main site, site office A access to the Main site for Internet and servers. We are thinking NextG to take over when the link between sites goes down.
To start with, what is the configuration for 3750 at Site A and the Main site:
1) Trunking for both switches
2) Routing
3) the automatic failover configuration for the switch at Site A.
We recently switched two of our branches to point-to-point fiber connections to our corporate office. Previously they were using MPLS connections. For branch A, the ethernet handoff of the fiber is connected directly to a Catalyst 3750 gigabit port. That port has no configuration on it. The other end of that fiber is connected to a gigabit port on the 3750 switch at our corporate office. That port is configured with an IP address that is within the subnet of branch A, and is operating at layer 3 due to the no switchport command.
Branch B currently has a Cisco Express 500 ethernet port (with no configuration on it) connected to the fiber hand off there. At first we setup a port on the 3750 at our corporate office that is connected to Branch B via the fiber in the same manner. This resulted in us receiving DCHP leases at Branch B from Branch A. Obviously not desired. Now we have the port on the corporate 3750 that is connected to Branch B's fiber configured with switchport vlan 64. I also configured interface vlan 64 on that switch at corporate with an IP address from the branch B subnet. We then set that IP address as the default IP address for devices at Branch B.
We are having trouble with both an ATM and a phone system not communicating properly at Branch B. At Branch A we are experiencing the same oddity with the phone system, but the ATM is able to communicate fully. At branch B, when configuring a Windows Vista or Windows 7 laptop with a static IP address that is known to be available, you get transit failures when trying to ping. Essentially everything seems to be able to route fine, but some traffic even after a full tcp hand shake seems to not transmit properly.
When you configure a point-to-point fiber connection from a layer 2 switch at a location without a router to a location with a Cisco Catalyst 3750 switch as the endpoint, what is the best way to configure both sides?
Currently we only have vlan 64 configured on the port mentioned on our switch at corporate, and then the switch at Branch B is essentially operating as an unmanaged switch at the moment with all ports in vlan 1.
