Sep 24, 2012We recently upgraded the switch to which an old security device was connected. It worked fine on the old switch's FastEthernet port, which was configured for speed 10 and duplex half, as that is what the device required. The new switch is a 3560X with all Gigabit ports, but the security device's port, also configured with speed 10 and duplex half, does not connect properly.As a temporary test, we daisychained another switch that has FastEthernet ports, and the security device works again.Is there anything else that needs to be added to the configuration, when using Gigabit ports at 10/half?

Jun 4, 2013I have C3750X with C3KX-NM-10G, and have-T SFP in slot 3 ( means it is not in SFP+ slot ).I need to set speed&duplex hard to 100/Full, but if I do the link goes down. I have the same settings on the other side, only IOS version is different.I tried other speeds - 10 and 1000, but no one works with Full. When I change duplex to Auto it works fine.The reason why I am doing this on C3KX-NM-10G is because I need to use NetFlow and cannot use the chassis' copper port. At the moment the ports are connected through a copper patch cord, but in full production there will be a radio link in between that requires 100M/Full to be set hard.I am trying to search for any document that would describe this limitation, but cannot find any. Also port capabilities do not indicate duplex could not be set to full:

Jan 21, 2013I have a port on 7600 connecting via Single Mode Fibre to my service provider. Service provider has 1000-Full with auto-negotiate. I am seeing following output on my 7600. [code] if this interface is only capable of doing 1000Mb, how come it is showing 100-Full. If I change to nonegotiate option (both my side and provider side), link goes down. My provider has confirmed they have 1000Full their side.

Aug 5, 2012I have one out of three Catalyst Express 520's I cannot connect to with Cisco Configuration Assistant or with a browser. I've used Wireshark to capture the problem, and it sends a TCP RST packet immediately upon any such connection attempt.
As these devices do not have a console port, how can I gain access to the device? We'd like to upgrade them but cannot pull the existing config.
Since these 520's don't support or are not configured for telnet/ssh and the only connection I can make is with a broswer and CCA, I'm wondering if there is a way to get the config into a text file as normally done.

Jul 11, 2012I am struggling with a CE520 and its smartports stuff.I have configured the following vlans :
1- data
100 - phones
I need to bring those vlans (both of them) to a Cisco 800 router. The port of the 800 router is already configured as trunk and accepts vlan 1 and 100.The cisco 800 has both vlan 1 and 100 configured with 2 ips on different subnets, and ip routing is enable (to route between two vlans). Also, no access lists are configured.I have configured one port in the switch as role "router" and connected to the router. The other ports are all configured as phone-desktop (phone vlan 100 desktop vlan 1).If I connect a phone and manually configure an ip (the phone gets automatically vlan 100), and try to ping the phone from the router, it doesnt respond. Alse vlan 100 is protocol down.I am guessing what s the right configuration as the link between the switch and the router should be a trunk link for 1 and 100 vlans, but it looks like is transporting only vlan 1.Also changing the port role to "other" when you can specify the native vlan and another vlan, the switch doesnt accept vlan 100 as additional vlan on that link.
Cisco Switching/Routing :: Catalyst Express 500 Factory Reset
Sep 30, 2009We have inherited a Catalyst Express 500 (model WS-CE500-24PC) from a company we aquired, and are having issues configuring the switch.
The switch must have been configured previously, but we don't know its IP address. It is no longer on the network, so we can restart it as much as we need to.
We followed the factory reset process:
1) Disconnect the switch from the power supply
2) Reconnect the switch while holding the "SETUP" button
3) Release the "SETUP" button when the status LEDs all turn Amber
4) Wait for POST to complete
5) Connect one PC to the port whose LED starts flashing
However, the PC is never given an IP address, and when we open a web browser, anything we try to browse to gives us "Page cannot be displayed", rather than the setup page for the switch.
Are there any known issues or browser/OS incompatibilities with this model of switch? We're using Vista and Windows 7 with IE7, IE8 and Firefox 3.

I can't get it to go away. what needs to be done to clear whatever flag or register that causes this behavior. the cli is fine, it's not trying to force epxress setup there, only in the web interface. will reloading the software image fix this?

Oct 25, 2011I can assign IP addresses to any of the 24 FastEthernet ports (it is a 24 port switch!). However, I have fitted the WS-G5482 Gigabit adaptor to give me Gig ethernet capability. It does not seem to be possible to assign an IP address to the adaptor.I realise that as it is an 'add on module' (well, a plug in module) this is different to the 24 port in the 'body' of the switch. I also have read that these Gig adaptors will only connect to other Gig adaptors (I found that out by trial and error, and then confirmed it by searching here).it's not possible to assign an IP addy to one of the plug in modules; it is not a big deal but I am planning to assign some IP addresses for remote management etc. I was going to use the Gig port for this but it may not be possible.
AH PS I am using the switch and connecting to the internet via the Gig adaptor, then out from one of the fastethernet ports to another little switch and then on to a router and out to the internet, so the switch and the plug in module are working fine.

The objective is to route specific VLAN traffic and the caveat is that I have multiple VLANs with the same network address.
For example:
VLAN100 10.10.10.0/28 VLAN101 10.10.11.0/28 VLAN102 10.10.12.0/28
VLAN103 10.10.12.0/28
VLAN104 10.10.11.0/28
I need traffic going from VLAN100 with a destination of 10.10.11.0 forwarded to VLAN101 and NOT VLAN104.
This task is currently being completed by a multi context firewall and we're trying to decommission the asset.
