I have two Catalyst 3560 series switches with a 100Mb Ethernet microwave link and a 250Mb Ethernet microwave link between them. Can the switches be set up to make full use of the added bandwidth (350 Mb).

When I have a computer directly connected to the Cable Modem I get 9.84MB Down and 1MB Up. When I put it behind the ASA 5505 with policing on the interface, I only get 4MB Down and 660Kb Down.What I'm wanting to do is setup this up to enable my VoIP to have a higher priority and shave 128kon both the Up/Down for the VoIP traffic. I also want to make sure I don't exceed the inbound and outbound thresholds.I''m using a 5505 Security Plus?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 100mb conection and regularly get 90mb plus speed when conected direct to the modem. If I conect via the E4200 I only get 50mb ? I have tried disabling the firewall and QOS but this has had no effect. I am using a wired conection and the latest firmware. Its almost as the E4200 is capped at 50mb throughput.

Do I have to go to the VS based 720 supervisor as a minimum to support full BGP on a 6509-E? Does any experience of the above switch + supervisor combination under a full BGP table, how well does it work? I'm looking at long term using this as a consolidated core (i.e. a VRF for the Global Internet routing table + a VRF for internal data center traffic, plus maybe some more shared VRF's).
Would I be better keeping a Core switch by itself and just buying edge routers to run BGP?
I need to do password recovery for a 2911 router. But ı can't find any documentation about it. I can be able to login at the first login, unfortunately ı logged out without changing the password. Now I can not log in and I can not open rommon with the ctrl+break key sequence.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI will have this one router. Its f0/0 will be for the Internet connection with bandwidth of 30Mbps. Its f0/1 will be connected to a switch for internal networks. This link will be separated to 3 VLANs for 3 internal networks. I'm wondering if there is a way to gurantee 10Mbps for each VLAN but allow use up to 30Mbps when another two VLANs are not using any Internet bandwidth? I only worry about download bandwidth from internet.The 3 internal networks will all have public IPs and they belong to their own subnets. There won't be NAT/PAT.

I'm working with two Catalyst 2960 switches and I would like to know if there is a way to monitor bandwidth on individual ports. Ideally I would like to have one graph showing a bandwidth usage reading on each port. I tried using the Network Assistant to accomplish this, but I was only able to view one port at a time. I also tried using a traffic graphing program from Paessler, but a MIB file is needed to allow the program to connect to the switch. When I ran a search on the network management page the 2960 was not on the list for MIB supported products. Is this type of graph possible to do?

I have been getting notifications of large packet loss and latency for itnernal traffic going to servers. I have a simple setup of nagios who pings servers and will notify me of large packet loss or complete packet loss. I have implemented this L3 switch a few hours ago, I am currently running a constant ping to my servers, but I am not niticing packet loss right now.This packet loss happened 4 time spans within the last hour of many large packet losses to all my servers within all subnets. It is now stopped.
I am not sure why this would be happening, the predessor of the internal router was just a normal linux box with 3 NICs on it. Nothing crazy going on since the business is closed.
is it possible to configure an IOS Firewall IPS on a Catalyst 3560? Which IOS version would I need if it were possible?

I've been searching and found the option to apply policers or srr-queue mechanism to achive this, however this only applies for one direction only as far as I know. Catalyst 2960 familiy is preferred, however if this is not possible, will possibly jump to the 3560X family.

so for example
VLAN10 - 10.0.10.0 - limit to 5MB
VLAN20 - 10.0.20.0 - limit to 10MB

When I test the setup with iperf I always get different results when I change the nummber of parallel connections.Isn't there a way to limit the throughput regardless of the number of conns (INGRESS!) like with srr-queue bandwith limit?
We have observed increase of CPU utilization of 50% after upgrade from 15.0(1)SE3 to 15.0(2).The SDM template is "desktop default" template.The increase of CPU utilization in Switches with LAN Base after upgrade is about 10%.
How to find the cause for the 50% increase ?This is command is the output of 15.0(2). The calculated sum for 5min process-utilization is 21% plus 1% interrupt is 22 %. Where is the rest ?

I'm having an issue with 2 of my 3560s which are not booting. The last thing I did on both switches before it hangs was:

restarted as normal

I've tried powering-off the switch and pressing the Mode button and power on. I got to swtch: mode switch:reset
It restarted past the POST but just hang halfway at the same bootp-up process as shown on the attached. The SYST LED is Green color when it hangs.
