main house - comcast modem and wifi router <--------> guest house - WIFI bridge - ethernet cable to a WIFI router - my apple laptop. WIFI bridge is ASUS with DD-WRT firmware. i get good speed up to 20mbps/4mbps (down/up)

According to the data sheets for these switches CNA should be supported. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two 3750x stacked switches , both with the latest firmware on them. I enter the configuration onto one switch and it obviously copies over onto the other switch. Although in the configuration I have both a console username and password and an enable password, when I try to log onto the initial switch that I entered the configuration on, I am prompted for a username and password, which works fine, but when I try to enter enable mode i get an error stating that no password has been set. However when logging onto the other switch I am not prompted for a username or password but when I try to enter enable mode I am prompted for a password and can access it with no problems.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been looking at deploying a small core switch design for an important branch office that would consist of 2 cores with an etherchannel link and then 4 POE access switches linked to both cores utilising STP. I will also want static IP routing on the cores and will set up HSRP for gateway failover.
The initial switch I looked at for the core was WS-C3560E-24TD-S however after finding that there is no stock around of this at the moment I have seen the WS-C3560X-24T-S which looks like it will do everything I need including IP routing, HSRP and QoS for VOIP. The thing that concerns me is this is about £1000 cheaper so i'm slightly worried im missing someting.
I have purchased two catalyst 3560 switches (with 24 interfaces) on Ebay to prepare for ccnp switch exam. It would be great if I have 4 switches. Is it any possibillity to create two logical switches from one? I mean, not by assigning interfaces to different vlans?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe had a new building thats gone up and complete now and we're trying to get a ip phone working down that end of the school on a vlan. We seem to be having trouble with the VLAN going through on the 2960 switch but it works fine on our core 3560 switch.
There looks like a slight variation in the config of the switches, the 3560 switch supports the "switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q" command on the interface where as the 2960 doesn't support the "switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q". Is this why the vlan is working on the 3560 and not the 2960, or is it something else?
Both switches are using the 12.2 IOS
Heres the trunk port configured on the 3560 going down to the new building and connecting into the 2960 with a 1gbit fiber link

I have tried to SSH to the switch using PuTTY from Windows and native SSH from Linux/Unix clients, but nothing happens.
Is there some other area of configuration to enable communcation via SSH?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am about to buy 2x Series 500 switches but before that I have a design to be sure :I want to create a redondant network so it is the reason why I want to stack 2x Series 500 switches.Each server on my network (ESX and Windows 2008) are connected with two NIC (one port on the first switch , one port on the second switch), with trunk mode + etherchannel for LACP.
First question : I saw that the limitation is up to 8 etherchanel groups, can I have a mix of multiple servers on the same etherchannel group or should I create one etherchanel group for one server with only the two NIC inside?
Second question:I want to use the series 500 to do intervlan routing and want to be sure that if the the ports are in trunk mode with some vlan set on the card itself that the default gateway for the vlan will be propagated on the two switches (in stack mode) and will not cause any issues when both switchs works fine and if one switch crashes?
Was building a small network in Cisco Packet Tracer and ran in to an issue. I have 4 routers running OSPF, and off one of the routers I have 5 3560 Multilayer switches. The router that the switches hang off of, I have a sub-interface with dot1q encapsulation, set for vlan 10 and an IP Address. 10.14.16.1/24. The switches have interface vlan 10 configures, and have IPs in the same subnet. From that router, I can ping/telnet to all the switches without issue. My problem arises when I try and reach those switches from any other router. OSPF is set to redistribute static and connected subnets.The routing table is populated correctly on all the routers. When I ping and trace the packet, it looks like it makes it all the way to the respective switch, but the packet never makes it back. I've played with the default route on the switches to no avail. Am I trying to implement this incorrectly, or am I just missing something?

View 5 Replies View Relatedwe are using cisco 6509 series switches as core switches. and Cisco 4510,4507 series switches as edge switches. all the vlans are created at core switches and propogating to edge switches through VTP. we are using OSPF as routing protocol at core switch for internal routing. till now we are using 4510,4507 switches as layer 2 switches. Since, 4510 & 4507 switches are hign end swithces i want use them as layer 3 switches instead of layer 2.if i change these switches from layer 2 to layer 3 does it make any impact on our network or better to keep them as layer 2 switches.if i change these switches to layer 3 is there any advantage i will have.
