Cisco Switching/Routing :: Limit Bandwidth Of Catalyst 3750 Series Switch?
Apr 23, 2013
I want to limit the bandwidth of my Catalyst 3750 series switch, I read the cisco documentation and I applied the commands but I didn't get the wanted results.
For the outbound traffic it's ok, but for the inbound traffic I used policing but I get an unstable traffic. I used, an access list and a class-map to classify the traffic and then a policy-map.(I followed the steps mentioned in this site: [URL]
I want to configure switch port bandwidth limit for my Catalyst 2960-48, is there any hardware / ios limitation? can I configure it at all 48 switch ports?
configuring a switch or a router to limit the bandwidth for a specific user/IP when need it. Most of my remote offices are configured like this:
Users ------ 3560 switch ------- 2801 router -------- T1 to NOC -------- 7204 router with channelized DS3
I use Netflow Analyzer for high bandwidth usage alerts and can see the user's IP right away when someone is clogging our T1s. My goal is to be able to temporarily limit the bandwidth of the user taking over the T1. Whatever is best switch config or on the router.
I have the attached setup. now i would like to limit my ftp transfer to 10 mb from a specific vlan to ftp server on the STM-4 (622) link. what would be the best way to limit ftp traffic to 10 mb .Video_Main#sh verCisco IOS Software, IOS-XE Software, Catalyst 4500 L3 Switch Software (cat4500e-UNIVERSAL-M), Version 03.02.00.SG RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc4)Technical Support:

I have been looking into this for a while and I can't seem to figure out why my 2nd vlan is not able to connect properly to the net.
My switch has 12 ports where my devices connects directly, they are all on Vlan 1 and they all work perfectly. on Port 12 I have a dlink router that is connected to a cable modem. the dlink router has an Ip address of 192.168.0.20
I created a second vlan (vlan2) and enabled dhcp relay on it. then I assigned port 9 on the switch to (vlan2)my laptop which is connected to port 9 seems to get an ip address fine and able to ping only some devices on my network (vlan1) and is not able to go out to the internet. I think it has to do with the routes. [code]

In my ongoing project i need to monitor cisco 3750-X port status (uplink/downlink) i.e. whenever there is some problem at a specific port. I need to monitor it through an OPC server and right now what i am doing is as follows: i am using Kepserver and i have added SNMP driver in it for that purpose i am not a networking expert but what i have learnt till now is that SNMP agent (that resides in switch) delivers the status of MIBs to SNMP manager ( which in my case is kepserver (opc server)) for the above purpose i am adding IF-MIB to monitor OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8 (which shows port statuses) but when i add that in OPC server then it indicated that this OID is not available in the Switch ( it might be disabled) so i need to ask if there is any way to enable OID's in a switch,
I have got a new 48port Cisco catalyst 4948 switch, which I configured as a VTP client and connected to Cisco 3750 which is a VTP Server (this switch is on production network). I connected port g1/0/48 from 3750 to port g1/48 on 4948 through a straight cable and made both ports as trunk port (I also tried through cross cable). The problem is these two switches are not detecting. For testing I connected a PC directly to one of the port on 4948 (making that a switch port) still the LED on switch didn’t glow up. Is there any special command needs to be run on 4948 switches to activate its physical ports?
we are using 3750 and 2950 switches both of them do not support vlan up to 4000 .we need vlan about 3000 .Whic cisco series switch do support vlan up to 4000.
2950 S-SW1.3(config-vlan)#exi
Proposed configuration has too many VLANs for this platform. Reduce the number of VLANs proposed.
S-SW1.3(config)#end 3750 SW1(config-vlan)#exi
proposed configuration exceeds the limit of 1005 VLANs that can be supported on this platform. Reduce the number of VLANs proposed to be within this limit.
I have a new Cisco 2960 S series switch with a basic configuration that needs to be uplinked or daisy chained to a Cisco 3750 switch. I am not getting any connectivity to the network with either a straight through or crossover cable. the port remains in amber but a 'show interface' indicates that the interface is up. I can manage the switch with a PC patched into any port on the switch with a static IP address. Must be something very simple that I am missing. Outlined below is the configuration.
The Catalyst 3750 switch reboots, and the " Reloading because of stack merge or communication failure" error message appears.
I saw this issue at "Cisco wiki" but the resolution in that page is just "Open a case with TAC". Because of the reasion is H/W Problem.
Is The resolution only one ? anything else? The 3750 does not use Stack. It is just stand alone. So i think it has other resolution as "disabling Stack" or another one. How about my opinion ? Is the Resolution only "Open a Case with TAC"
One of my Catalyst 3750 switch have many out drops, I execute "sh mls qos int g2/0/3 statist" command, there are many output drops in queue3 threshold3. [code]
I would like to limit the bandwidth available to a different target machine. I have been trying to do this on a Cisco 3750, but first I came across this message:
% QoS: policy-map with police action at parent level not supported ...
Then this:
% QoS: policy-map child ... ClassMap BackLimit only support MATCH-INPUT INTERFACE
Is there any documentation, I searched the forum but all I see are complex solutions, I just wanted to limit the bandwidth for a machine that is in a different site. I wanted to apply the policy on an interface SVI.
I have the requirement to assign an asymmetric bandwith limit to each port on a switch (example: 4Mbps downlink, 1Mbps uplink). I've been searching and found the option to apply policers or srr-queue mechanism to achive this, however this only applies for one direction only as far as I know. Catalyst 2960 familiy is preferred, however if this is not possible, will possibly jump to the 3560X family.
We run a workers camp here and we currently have around 2500-3000 people using our 100MB internet pipe. We are upgrading the pipe to 200MB soon but I still would like to limit how much bandwidth everyone is using.
We allow streaming media such as Netflix, youtube, apple TV and of course .So it gets full pretty fast. We have QOS implemented although I wasn't here when it was done so I don't know a lot about it. I would like to limit IPs to a certain amount of bandwidth. [code]
I have two Catalyst 3560 series switches with a 100Mb Ethernet microwave link and a 250Mb Ethernet microwave link between them. Can the switches be set up to make full use of the added bandwidth (350 Mb).
Is it possible to configure a limit on monthly traffic over a 3G access on a Cisco 800 Series?
The scenario is that a customer has a Cisco 800 3G routers with a 3G card from a Service Provider, that offers a rate for X Mbytes per month and that when those monthly X Mbps are exceeded, a differente rate (much more expensive) is applied for the excess traffic that month. The customer would like to have the router NOT to active the 3G access when the X Mbytes (on that month) are exceeded. Maybe this is possible to implement using a TCL script and ip accounting?
I have a task of setting up bandwidth limit on the 2811 router Fastethernet interfaces. The scenario is:We have a 4MB Internet connection and would like to allocate bandwidth usage to users.
Fastethernet 0/0 needs to be set with 256KB output and 2048 input. This is going to be connected to a wireless router. Fastethernet 0/1 needs to be configured with 2048 output.I could also use SDM if that's easier than using CLI.
I have a cisco 2821 router where as a cisco 2960 switch with connect on router as a trunk & one user vlan . this is my WAN router all traffic are internal . i have 2MB data connectivity on my WAN side. i have to Give a specific Bandwith on my SAP traffice . like when SAP traffice will come they all time get around 50 % bandwidth of my channel. If SAP resuest are not comming then other traffice will get full bandwith .
I use WS-C3560G-24TS and try both ios 12.2.50.SE1 and 12.2.46.SE but problem the same. The config as following, interface GigabitEthernet0/1 no switchport ip address 1.1.1.2 255.255.255.0 [code].....
but I find the int g0/1 output traffic only can achieve about 500kbps then I try config below,
interface GigabitEthernet0/1 no switchport [code]....
I find int g0/1 output traffic only can achieve about 5Mbps,but if I change "srr-queue bandwidth limit xx" command xx to 20-90,the int g0/1 can achieve normal traffic bps, for example,
interface GigabitEthernet0/1 no switchport [code]...
the int g0/1 output can achieve 2Mbps that is correct, just only when limit set to 10%,the traffic only can achieve half of limit bandwidth.
we have currently a configuration with 3 bonded (link aggregation) channels, each delivering 1 Gb/s uplink, providing a total of 3 Gb/s uplink. Due to a recent network upgrade, we can now add more channels to the same group in order to have a total of 9 Gb/s uplink, meaning that we should bond toegether 9 channels. When we tried to change the old configuration in order to include six new channels to the bondend group we noticed 2 things: one channel was left in standby (blinking orange led),no increase in the uplink bandwidth semmed to happen,By looking around it looks like the channel group is limited to a maximum of 8 channels [*].
I`m searching about bandwidth control down and upstream with vlans, i found many options but no one works good, follow some examples i have found on the internet
I was trying to configure my Catalyst Express 500 switch (PID VID: WS-CE500-24LC V01) and i followed the step i found in a document on Cisco website but still it showed an error "Page not found" and address displayed on bar was"169.254.0.1/catalyst-express.htm).
